We stayed in room 302. The rooms are tiny. The bathroom is notably small. In our case, with the AC was set with the fan on high and the temp set low, our room was still very warm. We called the front desk and asked for a fan. The gentleman that answered said they would send one up for the next night. We never saw a fan so we asked the front desk and the lady working informed us they do not have fans. Why not just tell us that in the first place? These rooms are not cheap. At a minimum I expect AC to be able to keep the room comfortable and get a good nights sleep. Would not stay here again. At the end of the day, it's expensive and its not comfortable. read more

The place was built by Charlie Chaplin so yes it is old and charming. I do believe that it captures a great time period for this area. The employees at the front desk and the valets were very nice. I was especially proud of the young man at the front desk who kept his composure when being scrutinized for wearing a face mask by a inebriated woman staying at the hotel. The complementary coffee was very good as was the location proximity to the wine valley. This is a great location for anyone looking to explore the whole greater Santa Barbara area (St. Inez wine valley, Los Olivos, downtown Santa Barbara,...) and your a short 20 minute walk from the beautiful Pacific shoreline. If you get a chance walk or bike along the beautiful flowered pathway that runs parallel to the beach, you won't regret it. Also, there are some very good restaurants in the area including the one on the first level of the hotel. Breakfast from Jeannine's Bakery on the next block was also very, very good as were the baked goods. The one thing I would not do if I were to return is pay extra for the mountain view because you can pretty much step out of any room and look across the street to see the mountains. A modern contemporary designed hotel tucked away right on the main drag in Montecito. The place is small and kinda quaint; it definitely had an up market feel although I was pleasantly surprised at the price. It was a perfect place for a one night stay while on business; not sure how the place would fair for a larger family as the room I was in was very small; I think there are suites available for a larger group. All in all very happy with the stay, extremely conveniently located right off the 101 freeway. Plenty of restaurants located in the immediate location; Lucky's Steakhouse is RIGHT next door. Oh- valet parking is $25; no overnight parking on the street. 4 stars only because of the 'non appealing ' view outside room; all you can see is the top of roofs and AC units. read more

This legendary boutique hotel is every bit as charming, beautiful, and worthy of a stay as you might imagine. Often times, "landmark destinations" do not live up to their legend... But this famed Hotel surpasses expectations - and is surprisingly affordable given the quality and luxury you will enjoy. For those not acquainted with its famous history - Charlie Chaplin himself had it built along with several other famous luminaries of early Hollywood. But rather than feel dated, this place manages to be fresh, modern, AND glamorously authentic and "historic"- I think Walt Disney himself is outdone in how they manage to balance all of these aspects for an outstanding Guest experience. I always find the materials that a hotel chooses to use speak volumes about how they respect and care for their patrons - and this boutique hotel is no exception. Fine white Italian marble and hand painted glazed Spanish tiles with expensive fixtures in all the bathrooms; fully stocked Nespresso machines for an outstanding cup of coffee or espresso first thing in the morning; fine linens atop plush mattresses and pillows, one of the most generous selection of channels I've enjoyed in a hotel for years - literally almost every worthwhile channel ... including some of the premium ones... And the kicker: everything is immaculate - I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that felt this fresh and clean and inviting... AND - I kid you not - one of the best AC thermostat systems I've ever enjoyed - the room literally was exactly the temperature that you put it at within moments. That's very rare indeed! It's clear that the owners and management take tremendous pride in maintaining this legendary landmark. And making it feel livable and enjoyable and luxurious every moment that you're there. Bonus perks: one of the most charming pools and jacuzzi spas i've ever had the pleasure of lounging at... An old school 1927 gated Otis lift elevator - where you literally get to see the floors as you go up and down - the kids in the hotel were having a blast riding it like it was a Disneyland ride! And to boot: a gourmet restaurant literally attached to the West wing of the hotel! Your room service literally comes from a gourmet restaurant! The reason for four stars out of five is that the staff is for the most part very green, and several small mistakes were made in communication throughout this stay. Certainly nothing that ruined the overall enjoyment and experience - but definitely created some wasted moments and definitely added up over the three days. I realize that post Covid, it must be challenging to have seasoned staff, but the hotel is deserving of far better communication and overall service from the front desk and valet. Everyone was sweet and clearly enjoyed their jobs - but definitely wanting in the experience and sometimes thoughtful department. A suggestion to ownership: if you know that you've got a major national holiday weekend coming up that's already oversold, perhaps have at least one manager around that weekend...? Certainly with the staff being mostly newer aka inexperienced (in some cases - immature) - it seemed curious indeed that not a single manager was on-site Friday through Sunday... ESPECIALLY with so many seniors and children in occupancy ... Of note: Ramone did an admirable job balancing front-desk duties with concierge requests - excellent. And Paola (though not on-site for our stay) went above and beyond to ensure the stay was overall outstanding. In fairness to future guests: this hotel was built in the 1920s. Overall people were of smaller stature, and the architecture reflects this in most of the rooms. The luxury suites on the first floor not withstanding - most of the rooms are quite small, reflecting the era during which they were built. Two other unfortunate circumstance from this Historic stature - there's really no getting around this so might as well be honest and transparent: the Inn is in fact right next to the freeway. Obviously - it was built there when there was no freeway, but great pains of been taken to ensure that this does not hinder the overall Guest experience. The other unfortunate circumstance from it being such an old building almost 100 years old: sound proofing was definitely not one of the requirements in the early California building codes. This is reflected in several reviews and unless the hotel chooses to do a major renovation adding soundproofing - you can expect in most rooms to hear conversations in the hallways, in adjacent rooms or above you. These challenges aside, it was definitely one of the nicest stays I've had in the longest time - and beat out a lot of experiences at hotels far more expensive and "luxury" - This Hotel is a must-stay for anyone craving an amazing Southern California get away. read more

Before writing this I sent the GM owner a email to address my comments NO RESPONSE so I am writing my review. READ ALL THE REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING: We recently stayed here to celebrate our 35 anniversary. While the location is AWESOME and the history of the property is amazing. The property is in very poor condition. What makes it even worse is NO ONE seems to CARE! When we checked into our room the found the bed frame disgusting dirty (see photos). The closet door had a large scratch in it. The carpet where it went into the bathroom was frayed and a great deal of dirt accumulated in-between where the carpet frayed and tile begins. Several other items in the room were dirty. Yes the rooms are very small... But that was the design back then and adds to the charm of the hotel. HOWEVER extreme dirt... does not. I went down to the front desk and discussed with the front desk clerk and showed the pictures.. She said "oh well, I will tell the manager" I asked when they come in. She said" Im not sure". Needless to say I never heard from anyone. We made the best of our stay however we did strip the bed and made sure no dirt was present. We asked a housekeeper for new sheets (just in case). Same with the towels. If a room is dirty from what you can see.. Chances are the things you can not see are much worse. I sent an email to the manager of the property on Monday July 17th NEVER got a response. This again shows not even the manager/owner cares enough to call you or email you back. SO as one of the review that is positive says.. if you have waited a long time to book here then you are blind to the dirt. OR as you will see if you go.. the place is busy. That says the owner is milking the most they can using the historic base to charge high rates... and deliver motel cleanliness. I will say the restaurant is very nice and good service. Lets hope that stays on the owners have just taken over its management. My only comment is it seems (and if confirmed) that the manager is 24 years old. He talked of just graduating high school and going away to college. No other manager was on property. I hope my honest review helps that the hotel CLEANS the hotel and gets it to be the place we all would love to stay. read more

I booked through hotels.com, so am here with VIP benefits due to having hotels.com status. That status also means I stay in a lot of great hotels, and this ain't one of them! The "breakfast" is a few pastries and some juice. Hardly the advertised continental breakfast! More like what I'd expect from a Best Western. The rooms are... Okay. Walls are thin, but the Aircon is good and the beds are nice. You really can hear other guests. There's also no room service at all here. Indeed, the on-site restaurant only serves dinner. If you want more than the "continental breakfast" the staff will politely advise you to walk down the road. The restaurant itself was really not good. I came in for a quick dinner for one, host said he'd "set it up" and seriously left me standing at the desk for 15 minutes while he dealt with various other tasks and eventually set 2 places at the bar. Then, the pasta I ordered was inedible - SO salty. And I typically like my food salty. They remade it, then it was watery and lacking in flavour. Wines by the glass are VERY expensive here, too. Overall, my attempt to have a pleasant night away was neatly undone by this hotel. 2 stars for the bed and the Aircon. read more

I can't comprehend how this place has any 5 star reviews. Cons: -We stayed in room 406, which is the one with 1 bed and the hot tub. When we arrived there late at night, all we wanted to do was go to sleep. However, there was some safety issue concerning the fireplace. There was a glass sheet covering the fire, which could explode when overheated. We called the front desk and was told that maintenance would come. He was a Hispanic man of little words. After hearing our concern, he stated that he'd been working there for a long time and no one had complained about this issue before. He also stated that it was our choice to keep the glass cover on or off, but it's supposed to be on. We didn't feel like he was listening to our concern. He seemed annoyed to be bothered by our call so late in the night and it was not a good feeling coming to a 4 star hotel being treated this way. We decided to take the glass cover off, and the man took the glass out from the room, seeing as how there was no place to put it. -The temperature could not be controlled in the room. The fireplace made the room very hot, but having the fireplace off made it freezing cold. The temperature controller was by the entrance, so we had to alternate between turning the fire on and changing the temperature setting of the fan by the door through the night. -The linens were rough to touch. -There were no amenities provided, other than a bar of hand soap. Everything had to be called for from the front desk. We stayed 2 nights and there was only 1 toilet paper roll provided. Housekeeping did not come to clean our room on the second day. -We had to call to get shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. We also had to call for water, which should have been in the room standard. No hair dryer, no hand sanitizer nor masks were provided in the room during a pandemic. Masks were sold for $5, when they should have been provided for free. Let's not forget that this is a 4- star hotel. -The hot tub was the main reason I came to the hotel. (I couldn't find any hotels in Santa Barbara with one and all the pools are closed right now.) The jet was weak and not strategically placed, which means it wasn't effective for its use. The hot tub had also yellowed from age. Maybe an updated tub is warranted. Pros: -Reception ladies checking in/ out were courteous. The men who worked as valet were pleasant.  -Cafe Jeannie, located within walking distance, was a delight. -The room didn't sound like the freeway even though our room's view was of the 101 frwy entrance. read more

The pool was wonderful, they have a free breakfast which is included in your stay. Rooms are spacious, the bathroom is clean and well stocked. I have been looking forward to staying at the Montecito Inn for a long time, especially as it has been recommended by numerous friends. Unfortunately, I will never return and it's predominantly rooted in the poor service. PROS: LOCATION: The Inn is perfectly located in the heart of Montecito. This is ALL YOU WILL BE PAYING FOR if you stay here. THE RESTAURANT LOCATED AT THE PROPERTY: I am not sure if the restaurant at the entryway to the hotel is a part of the hotel or not, but if it is, it is wonderful. The staff that work the outside patio are absolutely lovely. That being said, the staff that works the inside of the restaurant are as dismissive and uniformed as the staff that works the front desk. If you want to make a reservation, make it on Open Table and skip asking anyone in the restaurant for help if walking by. VALET: The guys that work the valet are helpful. CONS: THE SERVICE: When you walk in or out of the hotel, the gentlemen behind the counter never greet you. When we checked in, it was the same story. What was the worst was the fact that despite telling the hotel that we would be arriving early as per their numerous text requests telling us to do so, when we arrived our room still wasn't ready. Icing on the cake is that when we arrived at the hotel later that evening to grab our keys, we were treated horribly by a gentleman named Ramone who wouldn't look at us, smile, tell us about the property, welcome us, etc... Both my husband and I were confused about what we did to make this man that we had never met, so upset with us. His colleague who did happen to check us in earlier in the day could have helped to ease tension, but as per every other time we walked through the lobby, he was practically hidden in his computer screen. Not sure what the staff is watching on that screen, but it must be good. Additionally, after writing Paola the Property Manager a detailed email of our experience, we never heard a peep. To me, this is unacceptable, especially for area like Montecito and a property as historical as the Inn. ROOMS: We stayed in a large king family suite. While the suite had two bathrooms, everything about the room was relatively run down. The carpets need to be replaced and there were no slippers provided. There is also no central air and only an air unit, which barely cools down the room. The bathroom sinks are so small that I had to do my makeup in the living room. AMENITIES: Outside of a pool, I am not sure what else the hotel has to offer. We also were never informed of any of the amenities, so if there are any the hotel is doing a horrible job of informing patrons of this. To save our Valentine's weekend, my husband and I decided to take a 7 min Uber to the Rosewood as our friends mentioned that the beach views and the service were unbelievable. Despite not being hotel guests, we were welcomed from the moment our Uber pulled up to the moment we left. It would be worthwhile for Paola and her staff take a field trip to their neighboring property to learn how to make people feel welcomed. read more

I have been really upset about the place. I am hyper allergic to pretty much any animal hair and they allow dogs in the rooms. The receptionist checked if the previous guest had a dog in the room, that was very nice of her. But if you have allergies you know what triggers them. I wish they would make that obvious and let guest know that dogs could of been in the room and probably slept in bed with the owner. I would of spend my money with a different hostility facility. I could cancel my second night I booked with them as they probably could see that I had a bad night with almost no sleep, sneezing, watery eyes and a hard time breathing. Been here a couple of times over the years and while the location is great the rooms are not awesome. For $300 plus I would just spend a little more and open up a lot of other options. One of the rooms I stayed in I could touch all the bathroom walls with my arms outstretched. I know I have a long wingspan at 6'1" but that's pretty small. My husband Matt B. grew up within walking distance of the Montecito Inn. We don't ordinarily stay at hotels when in Santa Barbara, but I was pretty familiar with this place, as we'd passed by it countless times, and even eaten once at the recently shuttered Montecito Café. On our last visit to town, I got a free night at another hotel, and we decided to make a nice little trip of it. We booked this place just a week in advance, identifying it quickly on Hotwire. Most of the hotels in the area were sold out or outrageously expensive, and the Montecito Inn wasn't exactly cheap, either. We paid $324 for a one-night stay. The hotel was charming, an old place with some kind of Charlie Chaplin connection. Attractive historic building with a lushly decorated lobby and what must be the original elevator, a fussy/dangerous-looking thing. Our room was on the third floor, and we generally opted for the stairs. It was a nice room, small but comfortable, all of it renovated fairly recently except for the tiny, borderline dilapidated bathroom. Staff was reasonably friendly, and we had a pleasant, uneventful stay, with most of our time spent off the property. I'd recommend the Montecito Inn if you're in need of a decent hotel in Santa Barbara priced under $500. It's not perfect, but it's perfectly fine, with plenty of character. read more

Rooms are cramped and undersupplied, hot water is barely warm, beds are under-furnished and the roar of traffic on the 101 freeway comes thru the flimsy windows like they weren't there -- all things that management could fix, if they wanted to step up. Beautiful hotel, in an ideal location. The rooms were immaculate and service was extremely courteous. They did everything they could to compensate for Covid issues and did their best to make our stay very personable and pleasant. The restaurant Coast and Olive was excellent, and the hotel is conveniently located across the street from a great Mexican restaurant, Los Arroyos, and is next to the amazing Lucky's Steakhouse. Lots of other outdoor dining and shopping within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again. READ READ READ!!!! First, If you are here on Yelp considering this hotel, let me cut to the chase right now: You will not have a good time if your experience is anything like ours. . Secondly, take a minute to leave this review and read all of the other one star reviews that have been written up against this hotel in the recent months. These are not one stars that are two or three or four years old, these are all recent (within the last year) guests who have been very unhappy with their stay. Lastly, here's our experience: We booked on Hotwire, having a good idea from the description and the number of stars that it was in fact the Montecito Inn, so we knew where we were going. Unfortunately, this is the one time I did not use Yelp and my wife really wanted to use Hotwire. I was distracted and didn't push the point. Boy, did I learn my lesson. We checked in and we're given a room. (When we checked out that the staff told me that this was one of the "luxury suites".) We proceeded to our room on the second floor and found a very small room. Clean, with the towels and bedding properly made up and displayed. But that was about it. - We could hear much of what our neighbours upstairs spoke and could easily hear them walking across the floor, setting (or dropping) anything down such as luggage or God knows what. This place was built in 1928 by Charlie Chapman (Stop here and say "Wow!!" Put your hands on your cheeks and say "Oh my gosh!!" ). and it really shows. Soundproofing and noise abatement were not the hallmarks of construction in 1928. This alone, regardless of any of my other comments, are an absolute deal killer to me. This room is so far overpriced for what is delivered that it's not even funny. - The furniture in our room was adequate but our dresser was broken. The top and middle drawers of our dresser were broken and would not shut properly. See the photo below. The slide or guide that the middle drawer goes in and out on was literally missing, so the drawer was only opening and closing with a slide / guide on one side. It's pretty obvious when you look at it that it's tilted, kind of tells you right away that it's not working. Ridiculous lack of quality for the money paid and the fact that Charlie Chaplin built this. (Stop again if you feel like it and say "Wow!!") - Better yet is the bathroom!! What an adventure in convenience and ease of use. As you enter your bathroom the first thing you notice is that the toilet does not have a conventional water tank behind it to hold water like you would find in your own home. Instead, it has a piece of pipe going to flushing handle right on top of the toilet just like the toilets at Taco Bell and In N Out Burger. The reason I mention this is because this type of toilet uses industrial water pressure. In other words, it does not store water in a tank for you to flush and then have to wait to fill back up like we do at home, but instead it comes straight off the main cold water header in the hotel. You can flush it over and over and over and it will flash each and every time because water pressure is always there. Kind of like hooking your garden hose up to your toilet - you have a constant source of pressurized water, no waiting. What this also means is that each time someone flashes a toilet talk to your cold water heater, the cold water pressure drops were sacked because of all the cold water rushing into that toilet bowl. IF YOU ARE IN THE SHOWER WHEN THIS HAPPEN YOU WILL LOSE ALL THE COLD WATER AND GET HOT, HOT WATER COMING OUT OF THE SHOWERHEAD!! AND IT HAPPENS IN AN INSTANT, WAY QUICKER THEN YOU CAN MOVE! IMAGINE HAVING THIS HAPPEN THE WHOLE TIME YOU'RE IN THE SHOWER!! Yeah, this place is just awesome!! - Add to this that our room had electric outlets in what appeared to be only one wall and they were not accessible. I could not find anything to use in our room (not the bathroom) except extension cords I had to drag out from under the bed. Lastly was the pleasure of the continental breakfast. We paid well north of $300 for a room and after everything else above we come down to a continental breakfast that is basically coffee and a pastry or two. The coffee was so black my wife put six creamers in it and couldn't get it any more than dark brown. Actually, I should correct myself - this was not a continental breakfast. I am calling it that. When we checked in, the clerk told us that there would be an "extremely light breakfast" available in the morning. Good thing Charlie's gone... read more

Classic, classy, historic, clean, charming, and they have Kona coffee. I'm a historian, by vocation, therefore I expected petite-sized tubs, sinks, toilets. If you want super-sized, this ain't it. You are in a place where tiny Charlie Chaplin, Marion Davies, Mary Pickford, snuck out for a girls weekend, people no bigger than most 4th graders. It was plenty roomy for them. I'm 5'10", hubby 6'2". Size was fine for me, a little uncomfortable for hubby. The joint feels so romantic, glistens with Old Hollywood vibe, it's just a TREAT. We were thinking what a fabulous wedding, party venue dressed in tuxedo tails and Carole Lombard style time this would be. The breakfast room, space high-end sweets, hubby had two and that Kona coffee I mentioned. Why in the world all decent hotels don't serve Kona eludes me. It's reason enough to go back. I wouldn't give this hotel a single star. Okay , well if I must in order to post this and get the public to move on to another hotel in order to NOT ruin their weekend! My husband and I are here for a friends wedding. It's a holiday weekend so there is a 3 night minimum.... Okay, I can deal with that... What I can't deal with is there is NO A/C or fan in our room (can anyone say it's summertime) lol, the fridge does NOT work, and the water pressure in the shower is horrible. Definitely not a place to stay!!! We are hostage to our friends and their wedding! The discount the hotel offers is definitely not worth dealing with this situation!! My stay at the Montecito Inn was the worst experience I have had! If I could give them NO STARS, I would! My husband and I visited the hotel to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and it absolutely horrible? It was such a tremendous disappointment and certainly not the way we planned to celebrate! We arrived at the hotel only to learn that the hotel elevator was not working and we were placed in a room on the 3rd floor. Thankfully, my husband and I are active and athletic people, so we were able to successfully navigate the stairs. When we arrived in our rooms, we discovered that the bathtub faucet dripped terribly. When we called the desk, we were told that we could either allow the maintenance worker to come in and fix the bathtub while we waited, or we could be placed in a smaller room, with a smaller bed. Needless to say, as I am 5'10 and my husband is 6'2, we declined the lovely queen bed they offered and the smaller space. We were already cramped beyond belief and I had no space to even open my suitcase fully. We were then offered the option of going to a different room to shower, then then returning to our room to sleep. We chose to wait for the maintenance staff to fix the bathtub, which took almost half an hour, as he darted in and out of our room. We did not feel comfortable leaving our room with all of our personal belongings in an open room. We were subsequently late for our dinner reservation. The pool was the size of the pool at my home and my in-room massage was miserable. There was insufficient room for the masseuse to navigate around her massage table and consistently bumped the table as she maneuvered around the cramped space. Overall, the hotel was old, dirty, and worn. The carpet was filthy and worn and there was absolutely no tread on the fibers. I slipped around haphazardly in my bare feet. The duvet slipped out of the cover overnight and there were bugs in our room. It was positively disgusting! UPDATE: I have read the manager's response and, unfortunately, it is blatantly untrue. To his point, his review is defensive and I stand by my statements. The hotel is in extremely poor condition and one will only know for certain if they book a stay at the facility. read more

The hotel is OK and has its history but I found it overpriced for what it offers. I booked through Booking.com and it had an offer, but on their website a normal queen room is 350 a night. For this price, I would expect a nicer more updated hotel. The elevator does not work and they don't offer breakfast. In fact, their restaurant is under renovation. It is, however, very close to many restaurants walking distance. The pool and jacuzzi were nice and what I enjoyed most of this hotel. The view from our room was not pleasant at all and as many have also mentioned in reviews, you can hear the other guests. Also, the parking is 15 a day which was not included in the Booking.com site but only after making the reservation. Bottom line, this is not a hotel I would stay in again. read more

For $500 a night, I expected more. The room was so small, you literally could barely walk with 2 people in the room. The bathroom was super small too. The shower pressure was a joke (a big pet peeve of mine) and the toilet didn't flush very well. The elevator with the 'open the gate yourself' 60 year old elevator was a joke too. This is 2022, time to modernize people. Other than this, the hotel is a great location for on and off the 101. I lugged 2 big suitcases to the elevator and the 2 people at the front desk didn't even offer to get a bell boy or provide assistance. read more

I'm between 3-4 stars, but I'm going with 4. The staff was all great, the girls at the front desk were friendly and the parking attendant had no issue that I need to go to my car twice for odds and ends. The location is awesome! You are right on the main strip of Montecito which has some great restaurants and you are also an easy walk away from the beach. The location itself is older, but well maintained. The architecture and Charlie Chaplin connection (original investor) all add to the charm. The old school Otis elevator with the pull close metal door was a fun pain to deal with - again, part of the charm. My room was not super big, and the bathroom was a tad cramped, but not to the point of being a problem, just be aware. I also liked that the property is right off the freeway. I enjoyed my stay and I'd definitely go again. read more

The hotel is very old and the things that can't be changed are the elevator. It was very small with a heavy door and an even heavier slider gate thing. It was so awkward I used the stairs. The stairs are narrow and deep and could be fatal if you tripped. The halls and rooms are extremely narrow and very small. I'm 5'10" but I'm not fat and I felt like I had to squeeze myself in the bathroom door was so narrow and so was the room door itself. It was awkward moving around but I get it. 1920's women were tiny! I booked through Hotwire and I would not pay their regular rates for this property. It's a little out of the way from Santa Barbara life. I didn't eat at the restaurant or use the pool but it looked inviting. Giving it 4 stars as service was good and the room was clean and the bed was comfy. I understand it's a period hotel that has kept the period charm and details. read more

I stayed in a suite there a few weeks ago and was highly impressed. The room was incredibly comfortable and full of nice amenities. The coffee bar was fully stocked and much appreciated. The bed was quite comfortable and the bathroom was the largest I have ever seen in a hotel, with a large walk in marble shower and there was also a beautiful marble tub. I wish I would have had more time to take advantage of the tub! The breakfast was perfect and we ate out by the pool. The staff was highly accommodating and friendly. I look forward to returning soon! read more

Valet couldn't drive a stick. Night desk staff had no access to any refreshments. Window shutter in room (the tower suite) was broken. I told the hotel it was our anniversary trip and zero stuff was done to acknowledge that. (I realize this isn't a requirement, but everywhere else we stayed had something special for us.) Also, I booked the hotel through Expedia and the deal was a free breakfast included. I was in the area about a month before our trip and stopped by to check it out. I inquired of the breakfast and was informed that the listing was old but "there's going to be a voucher of some sort." Okay. The morning after our stay I asked how the voucher was sgoing to work and was told "breakfast is not included". I produced the paperwork that said breakfast was included. I was again told "breakfast is not included." I explained that someone had told me that there was going to be a voucher; that I had stopped by specifically to suss out problems like this. I was then told "I can't imagine anyone saying that." I don't appreciate being called a liar. We drove to the Ritz Carlton in Santa Barbara and had an excellent breakfast. Made my day. You may want to look into staying there instead. This Montecito Inn is low-rent masquerading as quality. read more
