Other PT places I've succumbed to have been marked by tension in the air because the friendliness is superficial, the smiles glued on. Or the young PT staff gave me an exercise with a number of repetitions and then huddled in the corner to talk sports and their recent weekend frolics. Not so here: I feel an improvement and where I used to go home feeling depleted and pessimistic, I walk out of RSPT feeling stronger and hopeful. And aside from the congenial atmosphere, the exercises I've been asked (very sweetly) to do make sense. I don't see other patients given identical routines: the place is more like a cheerful gathering of neighbors (for a common purpose) than a factory. I can't recommend them highly enough! ==================================================== An update. Tomorrow is my last visit of 2025, because Medicare will only cover 28 visits in a twelve-month period. My enthusiasm for this practice and the people in it has only increased. The atmosphere is friendly without artifice, not the professional friendliness of people who would really rather you go away so they can continue chatting about last night's sports event. You might not notice it if you knew me six months ago, but I feel stronger and more mobile. This is not, I assure you, because I religiously do the exercises at home. (Long pause here.) But it is because the people I work with, especially Francy, Melissa, now and again Alex, Hannah, and Annabelle, have understood what exercises might help me and have guided me through them. The pleasantness begins at the front desk: Arlinda, Madeline, Michael -- all genuinely solicitous and humane. I think they understand that people come to PT with a certain amount of pain, impairment, and the accompanying embarrassment. Because of the gentle-spirited, light-hearted owner, Alex Sherman, the feeling of uncritical welcoming acceptance is felt all through the practice. I am sad to leave -- it feels like the last day of summer camp -- but I hope to be back in 2026.

The whole visit was delightfully compact; everyone laughed at my nervous-patient jokes, and I went out into the night feeling that I had been treated extra-kindly by informed human beings. I know this isn't the stereotype of urgent care, and people in pain always see flaws, but this place is GREAT. I don't want to have a reason to come there again, but I would be comforted if I had to.

Long story short, I needed to see an orthopedic doctor for a surgery I was to have. Montefiore has such a reputation, that I went the NY Presbyterian route for said surgery. After some run around and some horrid staff, I decided to try my luck here and I was glad that I did - just a shame that some in Presby are not as good as you'd think. I had to see two different doctors here - a neurologist & the orthopedic surgeon. One on the main floor and the other on the 6th floor. Everything with the neurologist went well and it was off to the orthopedic to get seen, get surgery, and for a follow up and likely beyond. Keep in mind, this is the first surgery of any kind for me so this was not my normal situation. The actual surgery was done at another location, but the doctor is also based out of this one. From the front desk staff to the nurses/PA's to the doctors themselves, I had no complaints about anything. Everyone was friendly, accommodating, welcoming, and answered any questions/concerns I may have had. They also understood that this was my first time doing this and despite researching as much as I could online, I did have said questions. I despise rudeness and was prepared for it, but none was found to my surprise (certain Presby locations however need basic lessons in how to be kind). This is a busy building located across the street from the children's hospital. As previously stated, there are over 9 floors here, so perhaps I got lucky, perhaps there's some places in here that are abysmal, perhaps not everyone in this facility should be judged on the actions of a few - I respect peoples experiences as we all have different ones, but I can only comment on my own. The general area is a madhouse with traffic, construction, and lack of parking. They absolutely love to give tickets out in the immediate area, so parking can be tricky. The lot directly next to this facility isn't cheap, but from what I've heard some of the practices can validate your parking. The other lot across from the main hospital is larger and I'm unsure if that validation also includes there - best to ask first if unsure. They do take your temperature upon entering and the offices I was in did practice 'social distancing' with the waiting room chairs, 6 feet apart signs, and the rest of it during covid times. Say what you will about Montefiore in general - I've also said harsh things over the years from experience myself, but they came through for me here and everything was excellent. Presbyterian dropped the ball with me and that's something I won't be forgetting, but everything with these doctors and staff was great. Monte doesn't have the best name in medical care overall in the general area, but I do firmly believe that not all of Monte should be judged based off the inept few who deserve that reputation. There is some places, staff, doctors, etc that are great and are worth it. That is a lesson I learned from this experience. I won't ever prejudge here again.

Here's what happened specifically in the cardiology clinic on floor 7: - Waited over an hour after my appointment time to see the doctor - The nurse asking me questions prior to seeing the doctor had a single airpod in her ear blasting music and asked me to repeat myself - The doctor took a 4-5 minute phone call when he finally saw me - EKG was done fairly quickly, with my clothes on, with the nurse not really caring about the adhesive pulling on hair (CityMD, which referred me to this hospital, at least let me remove the adhesive tabs in sensitive be areas myself -minor but considerate) - They didn't check with my insurance prior to my visit about the kinds of treatments supported by my plan so I would need to come back. Before arriving, I called with a few questions and the secretary who answered the phone was extremely patient and helpful. When I arrived, she continued to be exceptional. She helped me scan the barcode to register, asked for my information, and even allowed me to email the documents to her. Her energy was very welcoming and professional, and I really appreciated how kind she was. After that, she brought me into the exam room. The medical assistant who helped me was wonderful as well. She was kind, patient, and answered all of my questions. She made me feel very comfortable throughout the visit. The doctor was also great. Although our conversation was brief, he was warm, attentive, and made sure to answer any questions I had. Overall, the entire experience was excellent. The wait time was very short, the staff was professional and caring, and I truly appreciated the level of service I received. I would definitely rate MedRite Urgent Care 10/10 and highly recommend them.
