I went into Nyack Hospital with an intestinal infection and had surgery a week into my stay. Dr. Fleisher dealt with the infection and did the surgery. From beginning to end he was on top of his game. He spoke to me in laymens terms and answered any questions I had. I would recommend him to anyone. My stay in Nyack was as pleasant as it could be under the circumstances. The nurses and staff were great. When I needed them they were there. I was on Doctors 5. One nurse in particular was great. Unfortunately I only know her as Jen. Thank you all for making a difficult time as peaceful as it could be. read more

They treat people like a customer, understaffed at night as well as providing Tylenol for every problem that isn't fatal. They also get mad at you when you click the help button after 3 hours of no medication and constant pain. You're more of a burden to them than a patient. Go anywhere else, honestly surprised no one has sued or filled a hippa report on this place. Oh and you will be waiting in a hallway for 4 hours before getting into a room to be treated so just be warned! read more

I brought my mom here after she sprained her knee which was already bad to begin with. When we got there the lady at the front had an attitude. When we got to the room, they did an x-ray on her and they told her they would give her a shot for the pain. All they said after was "Its not broken" "all we're giving you is Tylenol" and when i asked for the shot they would give her they said "we ran out of it" what?? What kind of service is that. VERY disappointed and they even expected my mom to walk without a wheelchair after. Waited HOURS just for her to only get a Tylenol which she could have done at home. Insane. read more

Nothing about my experience was good. They kept me in an ER room for 2 days saying they did not have a bed for me. My CALL button wasn't working so then I told them I needed help, all they told me was "hit the call button." It wasn't until I showed them it didn't work that they believed me. Not discrediting what everyone else has said but my 76 YO dad was admitted recently bc he had difficulty breathing and I drove him to Nyack at 2am. Check in was a breeze and everyone was responsive and kind. Turns out he had fluid in his lungs and they took very good care of him. Communication was excellent. He stayed about a week and checkout was easy and complete. We have no complaints and will definitely go back next time we need emergency service. Also I needed to set up my chart so I can easily access his files and the rep on the phone was so patient and helpful. Thumbs up! read more

I needed cardiac rehab after a valve replacement and was very happy to hear that Montefiore was an option close by. The team is top notch and I am monitored with an ECG at all times, along with other vitals. The equipment is excellent and the space is bright and clean. They even have several air purifiers going which is much appreciated. I am able to return to exercising in a safe manner. Jaqueline, Felix, James and Anthony are an excellent team of professionals, very knowledgeable and attentive to my concerns and needs. I highly recommend them for cardiac rehab. read more

My mother was admitted yesterday. Let me first start by saying the staff on the whole at least who I have encountered has been knowledgeable and attentive; however there are issues, some serious that need attention. Finding your way around the hospital can be difficult as it very poorly marked. In the department of patient care following a CT scan my mother was returned to the room in ER and the staff returning her failed to hook her back up to the monitors. This is unacceptable. read more

They have electronic medical records which which gives you access to your own medical which include doctor's not. Had a mixed experience in Nyack Hospital. It is not my first choice for ER and would have preferred to go to Westchester, but the ambulance can only transport to local hospitals. First of all, the pediatric doctor forgot to document on day 1 that my child has food allergies. If I wasn't in my child's presence, he would have eaten the shrimp served with pasta and had an anaphylactic reaction. ER nurse gave my child medication around 9am, a different nurse came into his room around 11 am and was about to give the same medication that my child only takes at 9am in the morning and evening hours. This is unacceptable. One of the PCAs forgot to serve my child dinner. They scrambled to find an available tray and served him a cold meal that was hot 2 hours ago. My child's vitamins and supplements were sitting on the nurse and doctor's desk waiting for the pharmacy to review it for almost 24 hours until I spoke up and asked about it. Doctor apologized for forgetting about it. Dr. R, a female pediatric ER doctor and Dr. B, female psychiatrist lacked a warm bedside manner. We had a traumatic negative experience altogether with other confidential pieces of information that I can not share. I recommend going elsewhere for quality care. read more

Pulmonry care, excellent care! Was a very frightening experience for me. I have COPD and was in a very stressfull situation and caused a problem with my breathing! We were in the OR the other night for 11 1/2 hours. My husband is a doctor himself. We waited hours before even being brought back to triage. My husband remained on a stretcher for approximately 5 to 6 hours before even being tended to. The hospital is extremely understaffed with one doctor and one PA for 45 patients. if Montefiore wants to improve their reputation, they need to staff more doctors and staff. read more

Avoid at all costs!!! Had 102.5 fever and was sent to hospital from walk-in clinic from being sick for 7hr needing IV from dehydration. Laid on stretcher for two hours before a doctor even saw me. Took an additional two hours to have IV inserted for fluids AFTER I got off of my stretcher and went to the desk asking what's going on. Asked for water many of times with doctor approval but didn't receive until the IV was administered. Needed several fluid bags and they just left me hooked up to an empty bag for two hours until my husband came to see me after work and addressed the situation with them 'why did the nurses and doctors not come and check on me on a regular basis as a patient needs!' Something is seriously wrong with this place. Had blood work taken and they don't provide any type of diagnosis unless you have, Covid, RSV, or the flu. I was also left on a stretcher in a hallway with drug addicts and the homeless. Avoid at all costs. I'll continue to go to Hackensack NJ Hospital for my health care needs as I know I will be thoroughly taken care of. The state should shut this place down. read more

My doctor sent me to the emergency room. I had severe chest pains and trouble breathing. Two doctors ran cardio tests for a heart attack but came out negative. They then said I was to be discharged because they did not know what was wrong with me. I was told to go back to the doctor that sent me to emergency. I was in intolerable pain. How can I go back to a doctor that did not know what was wrong with me? My wife said you cannot discharge a patient in such dire pain. Finally, they gave me morphine and one of the doctors decided to order a CAT scan. I had a severe case of pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital. If I would have listened to these doctors I, most likely, would have died. read more

I am completely appalled at the treatment my wife received here yesterday. In addition to the 11 hour wait time for 2 routine tests ( one of which she was unaware was going to happen), they left us completely alone and frightened in the middle of a hallway directly in front of the bathrooms. Patients were brought in and ignored until they openly wept and demanded help or became combative, the "nurse" who was supposed to assist my wife was nonexistent and we have absolutely no idea who her Doctor was except for the names of 3 people that we did not meet and the individuals we did speak to were very vague and uncaring. This emergency dept is a complete disgrace and the directors should resign immediately. We will not be paying this bill. Too bad can't leave zero star reviews. My 77 year old mom came in with sever chest pains. It's 6 hours now and all they've done is EKG, took her blood and gave her an ultrasound. Been waiting over 3 hours for blood results so she can get a CAT Scan next. Every nurse acts like they can't be bothered. And you won't see a nurse or doctor unless you're in the hallway looking and asking for one. They couldn't care less in this place. Completely ridiculous. Never coming back. Place is a disaster. If you get your legs cut off outside I would suggest you walk elsewhere. read more

This place absolutely stinks to high heaven. They're a total disgrace.Twice I had to go there due to severe reactions from medications, both times people were set up on beds in the hallway. Once there, no one came to treat us until, after a couple of hours, some patients went looking for someone. On the second visit, one guy had an oxygen tank that ran out, and only the action of his fellow patients saved him. They also take their sweet time discharging you, keeping you there far longer than necessary. Then I was in for a stent, went to the patient area to fill forms and be processed, and the woman told me I was in the wrong place, and when I asked her where I should go, she said she had no idea. After wandering the halls and being asked "What are you doing in this area", someone found where I should go to check in, and guess what-- it was to the same woman who told me to go somewhere else. Three months ago I was in for a blood clot, and got three tickets because I was trying to avoid hospital parking, which at Nyack you have to pay for. The police later said if I presented documentation to the judge showing I was in the hospital he would dismiss them, but after 5 attempts e-mailing them, then speaking with someone and sending the authorization form, etc, I have receieved NOTHING and the tickets are about to out for collection. I also paid them the first $1,500 of my hospital bill a month ago, and they say they have no record of it. They're nothing but a bunch of morons. read more

My son had recent outpatient hernia surgery at Nyack Hospital. The nursing and physician care was excellent. Had surgery and was discharged as soon as he was ready to leave without waiting. The care was excellent. The nurses were all friendly and helpful. Excellent care! read more

Horrible experience over a 13 day stay. Was admitted during a holiday weekend, so necessary specialist was not available. I waited 6 days to have a procedure performed. My IV got infected, however the hospital does not staff IV techs on the weekend, I was told by a doctor that I didn't really need the IV, however I knew I was declining and only if a floor nurse volunteered to try to do the IV, I'd have to wait 2 days ( until Monday). Night shift, weekend doctors avoided prescribing pain medication because I was high risk, therefore they lied about treatment for my pain. At one point I screamed in pain for 5 hours until my daughter threatened to call the local news because of the neglect. I was discharged without any instructions in the event that I had a relapse, for which I did. I would never recommend this hospital for acute treatment. Horrible and terrifying experience read more

DO NOT GO TO NYACK HOSPITAL..sat with my 87 yr old Mom in the ER hallway for 10 hours. She had fallen, needed a CT scan. They advised keeping her overnight but they weren't sure they had a room available. So they wanted to keep her in the ER hallway with sick people coming from ambulances passing her by with no masks when the hospital required masks. After 10 hours we left....asked for food or water for my Mom many times and nothing...even after giving the ok that she could eat...nursing staff was overworked and rude...had to search for our PA all day waiting to find out test results. The Nurses put my husband in a room that had a half gallon of pee sitting on the counter next to an another pee sample cup. When I asked the nurses for the room to be cleaned they complained very loudly "this isn't a f****** covid testing center" If you care about health, sanitary environments, or safety- don't come here. read more

The nursing staff and managing staff are beyond awaful and lazy that we had such bad experiences we had to report the nurse multiple times to management but nothing was ever properly done. They say sorry and that's it. Even the most basic care of cleaning up the patient was not done right. They left my mom all dirty(poop and pee) that I had to clean her up right after and had about 2 full dirty wipes. SO DISGUSTING!! I could not even trust them when I wasn't there, that's how poorly they care for their patients. This hospital needs new management, to nurses, to even CNAS. Nothing like getting a bedsore as a 27 Year old with 2 broken legs

The compassion and caring in this hospital is virtually non-existent and since it's one of only two hospitals in the county it's a disgrace for Rockland County residents. The staff is beyond lazy as we waited over six hours in the ER without anyone offering so much as a glass of water to my 80 year old father. It's like they didn't see us at all and could care less. Shame on the healthcare workers who work at this hospital - the word "care" is so far removed from their minds - it's almost surreal. While Good Sam is not perfect, the attitude of the staff is so much better. Hopefully Montefiore looks a little closer at the staff and does some serious house cleaning. read more

Filthy. People in emergency room are aloof and the lack of attention and follow up is horrific. Will go to Good Sam next time. Last night around 12:00 A.M. I brought my daughter into the E. R. Since she cut her finger with a knife. The place is so filthy, disgusting, dirty and in severe need of a major and thorough cleaning and perhaps disinfectant with bleach and detergents. After waiting in the hallway for over an hour, being completely ignored by your staff who seem aloof, disconcerted, and seem to never make eye contact... I began to wonder if we should leave and head to Good Sam? After another 10 minutes, I inquired with the nurses desk and was told the nurse practitioner is with a patient and we are next. Half hour to 40 minutes later Debbie Pritzker, RPA shows up in what appeared to be a filthy lab coat that appears to not have been washed for weeks...so disgusting you should make it a point to pay her a surprise visit. After gluing the finger, without washing the wound... We sat for another 15 minutes... And I almost lost it... Someone came over, gave my daughter 600 mg of Motrin, said she will need an antibiotic in case of infection, but we were never given a prescription as we were finally dismissed. I realize this is a hospital, but if it was a Business where the proprietor really gave a crap about its customers, I would say you guys are in deep crapola. Businessman of 40 years. Normally I love coming to Nyack it's my first pick however not today, I am currently in the hospital but the service overall is not nearly as good as it normally is. The Nurses are taking forever to come and I don't ask for much I just want to shower, I can't do that because the rest room is dirty and it's been like that all day the person next to me stuff is in shower because she needs help showering so I've been waiting all day literally and to top it off I just got dinner from the kitchen and I went with pizza, simple right? Can I rate this hospital zero stars? Wow, 5 years ago my Dad was here at least a dozen times-the service was good. This trip anything and everything went wrong. From waiting almost 12 hours in the ER for a room, to the dozen times we had to give the list of medications to various people (when we got to the room the nurse still did not have an accurate list of medications. Had to complain every day. Whether it was my loved one pushing the call button and no one coming so they soiled the bed, the IV machine that constantly beeped non stop for over 2 days, to the hospital doctor (our loved ones doctor is not allowed to go here which is INSANE) who didn't know what was going on but the homecare nurse did, this place should be investigated. Stay away. Next time we'll go to Good Samaritan. Didn't even feel safe with so many people just being able to walk in and out. I repeat, don't go to NYACK HOSPITAL, their service is poor On a positive note, Nyack Hospital homecare is very good and I recommend it. read more
