We got a next day early Saturday a.m. appointment and within 20-30 minutes he had x-ray and a diagnosis for surgery. Service was swift and staff was friendly and promised to call first thing Monday with details on surgery. Like clockwork we got the call and thus began the orchestration of pre-op labs and exam....stat as surgery was in a day and a half. We pulled it off, surgery went well and now the healing begins. This is my 2nd gig as a recovery coach, the 1st with my maman after her back surgery and this time with my guy's ankle. Can't say my bedside manner is stellar, but my cooking is terrific so no one goes hungry and my meals absolutely beat hospital food hands down. Ha! Turns out our next door neighbor knows Coastal Ortho well...she was treated by the team there and has only great things to report. My guy is in good hands and it's refreshing to know he'll be up and at 'em because of the fantastic care by the team there. Loads of parking. Easy to drive into and out of. They even have an underwater treadmill in the pool and underwater video cameras, so that I can see what I am doing in real time and improve my technique. The whole team works together very well and my physical therapist, Emily, is excellent. The therapy aids are also great. The front office staff has been responsive as well and made scheduling and changing the visits seamless (I always did this in person rather than via phone). I also saw Dr Huber who did a great job. He was able to quickly get to the root cause of my issues and come up with a good plan. He answered my questions and helped me come up with the least invasive plan possible to address my issues. People complain about waiting in the other reviews and the short visits. These people need to keep in mind that the reason people are waiting is because these doctors are trying to help get patients in when they urgently need to be seen, even when space is not available. They are putting people in appointment slots that may not exist and if that person complaining was to have an urgent issue, they would be happy to be seen. They only have so many hours in the day they can work and if they didn't squeeze people in, then patients will suffer. Don't forget that there is more work that happens after you leave the room. Trust me, they don't want to stay late at the end of the day any more than you don't want to wait. Overall, I have had a great experience here and would recommend anyone come here if they have an issue that needs orthopedic eval, especially if therapy will be needed afterwards. I recently went to a UCLA orthopedic clinic for pain in my right hip. The UCLA doctor proceeded to treat me with Physical Therapy a PRP injection and I have had no pain on the right side of my hip. I decided to go for a second opinion to Dr. Bradley Thomas and he informed me that I do have a gluteus medius tear however, that's not what was giving me the pain instead it was trochanteric bursitis and he treated me with a steroid injection. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE…read more I have never had a medical appointment where I felt so dismissed and unheard. I saw Dr. Striplin after a serious knee injury and came prepared with questions about my MRI and what my options were moving forward. Unfortunately, I barely had the opportunity to ask anything. From the moment the appointment started, I felt rushed. He repeatedly interrupted me, seemed more interested in talking than listening, and had his hand on the door for much of the visit, which made me feel like he was trying to end the appointment as quickly as possible. I have a partial meniscus tear, a cartilage defect/hole in my knee, bone bruising, and other MRI findings. The only thing he really focused on was telling me that my cartilage was gone and that he would not do surgery because "it would make it worse." When I tried to understand what I could do to help my knee, I was given no real plan other than being told I would "just get worse over the next few years." He even brought up that he rides his elliptical every morning, which felt completely irrelevant given that I was there looking for medical guidance. The appointment lasted maybe 7 to 8 minutes. As he was already leaving, I had to stop him and ask, "Am I not getting physical therapy?" He reluctantly agreed to order it. I also asked about a temporary handicap placard because I was struggling with my injury, and he looked at me and said, "That's for people with canes. You don't have a cane," before walking away. I left feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and completely dismissed. I can only imagine how difficult this experience could be for elderly patients or anyone who may not feel comfortable advocating for themselves. I decided to get a second opinion from another orthopedic surgeon, and the difference was night and day. I was told my knee injury does require surgical intervention and that the defect needs to be addressed with a procedure involving bone and cartilage repair. I wish Dr. Striplin had taken the time to review my MRI in its entirety and explain my options instead of making me feel like I was wasting his time. I took time off work and waited over three weeks after my injury for this appointment, only to leave without answers or a clear treatment plan. My advice is to advocate for yourself and get a second opinion. A patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and cared for, especially when dealing with a serious injury. He is a full of himself jack@ass. Also saw other reviews on here saying he had his hand on the door for other patients and one guy said Dr. Striplin messed up his surgery had to be redone. DO NOT SEE THIS SURGEON. could have ruined my knee for the rest of my life i cannot even bend my knee, put pressure or walk well and my injury happened 6/9/26 it's now 7/21/26.

There is NO accountability on his part and that is unacceptable. There's no way I would have gotten away with that in my profession. Now I understand why it was so easy and quick to get a consult appt with him. I have been dealing with a scapula issue since 2017. I was seeing another doctor for a couple of years but he left my insurance. And, I got busy with grad school. Also, it was just symptom management and wasn't correcting the problem. I have done everything under to moon. Including spending thousands of dollars out of pocket to help me. The pain and soreness is unlike anything I have experienced. It has a "tortuous" psychological aspect to it. Kind of what I would imagine water drop on the forehead torture would be. It's painful and always snapping and popping. Pain is now radiating to other parts of my body. I didn't want surgery at the beginning but I'm starting to get desperate after dealing with this for years and it's getting worse. I'm very happy to start PT and shots again in hopes of bypassing sx. I was open on my forms and shared I have fibromyalgia (FM). However, it's been well-controlled for several years now. He was hyper-focused on that though. So rude and unprofessional. "Well your alignment (with my layers of clothes on) is fine and so is your strength". - Nothing to do with the pain and discomfort I experience. He was totally dismissive of my concerns and even the treatment I received in the past. He knows nothing about FM or "snapping scapula" if he thinks the specific symptoms of my scapula are due to FM. No way would I let this doctor touch me with a needle and he is not getting my business. For the first time... I got up, thanked him for his time, and walked out. I believe him to be biased toward overweight people, older people, women, and those with complex pain issues. Everyone has implicit bias but being a good provider means checking those at the door when you took an oath "to do no harm". The front office staff and MA were nice and professional, the office appeared clean, plenty of parking, fabric chairs in the waiting area, and the wait time was reasonable.
