The venue itself has so much coastal charm already that you don't feel overwhelmed with needing to infuse a lot of personality through decor. At the same time, it can still be transformed with florals and any additional decor elements. It was truly the best of both worlds. Our venue provided coordinator Alyssa was fantastic to work with! She answered so many of our questions and was always quick to respond over email. The catering provided by the venue was phenomenal and all of our guests raved about the food. We went with the New York steak and tarragon crusted salmon as our entrees and they were even better than we remembered at our tasting. Since we had a small guest count we even got to add on a slew of extra desserts to reach our food and beverage minimum and additional decor/rental items which was great because it felt like every dollar went towards something. They were even accommodating to our specific signature cocktail requests which were off-menu and our specific NA beer requests. Everything the day of the wedding went smoothly and without a hitch. We cannot recommend The Perry House enough to anyone looking for a charming, Monterey wedding.

It felt relatively small and well organized for a concert venue. Wine is sold in non-spillable sippy cups, a smart, practical detail. For our show, the merchandise line spilled out the front door and moved slowly. More than enough bathrooms at the venue. The ushers are helpful, though pocket lights and seat assistance during the performance can be distracting. Overall, an intimate place to see a live act in Carmel.

The venue maximum is about 700 guests in the main theater and 50 for the studio 105 shows. So not overwhelming crowds, thank goodness. Many outdoor patio shows and big screen theater movies are complimentary, to all. As volunteers, we work usually less than 4 hour shifts and see the shows, for free. We earn credits for next season tickets, with Bravo lounge status. Maxed 4 tickets, 10 shifts per ticket. We choose the shifts and shows to volunteer, then get assigned. We highly recommend renting the house for the whole weekend. We used it for our wedding party to stay, rehearsal dinner, staging for many prep items, and hair and makeup. The convenience of having the ceremony and reception next to each other was perfect and worked very well for our guests. We had our dance floor outside and rented string lights set up in an umbrella fashion to give the effect of a tent. Overall, we are very pleased with how everything turned out. I need to write a separate paragraph for Anna Russell and her team. Anna was extremely flexible and helpful throughout the whole process. She had good suggestions and helped us figure out issues as they arose. She was very responsive via email and super helpful the week of the wedding coordinating with our vendors. She was organized and kept all the pieces moving smoothly. We would highly recommend her, her team, and her venue to anyone.

The drive in takes you through gorgeous greenery, million-dollar homes, and picturesque coastal views. The hotel is also close to downtown restaurants and shopping, and the beach is only about a 5-10 minute scenic walk away. We caught the sunset and it was absolutely beautiful! Check-in was quick and easy, and we were greeted with smiles and refreshments. Our room was spacious and beautiful, with tons of windows and an ocean view. Loved the Nespresso machine with multiple pods, complimentary water, kettle, freshly baked cookies, and turn-down service. The next morning, I sat on the balcony with my coffee, listening to the ocean and enjoying the crisp coastal breeze. Coffee + ocean sounds + Carmel = YES PLEASE. Breakfast arrived right on time, beautifully plated, and everything was delicious. Check-out was just as easy. A few things kept this from 5 stars. The shower pressure was weak, and the handheld spray is positioned where water can easily escape onto the floor. The towel racks are also awkwardly placed. We noticed gaps along the curtains that could affect privacy , and the AC panel has a VERY bright backlight at night. We couldn't dim it, so my hooded jacket became a blackout curtain. THE GOOD: Beautiful location, beach access, ocean views, spacious room, friendly service, cookies, great coffee setup, delicious breakfast. THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Limited parking, shower design, curtain gaps, bright AC panel, and a pricey one-night stay. 4/5 I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but at this price point, those little details should be thought through. Still, I'd absolutely stay here again. The location, views, walkability, and service make it worth considering. Just bring a hoodie. The staff were great and very attentive, no complaints there. Greeted with a refreshing melon drink of some sort, unfortunately wife is allergic to cantaloupe. The room itself (room 6) was a different story. The bed was comfortable, free waters and coffee machine, but the blinds had gaps that let light in and let people on nearby balconies see inside. The AC control panel was so bright we couldn't figure out how to dim it, and ended up draping a hoodie over it just to sleep. The bathroom was nice looking, but the shower's water pressure was so low it took three times as long to rinse off -- I doubt it actually saved any water in the end. The towel rack placement was also poorly thought out, positioned far from the shower door. If I hadn't thought to move the towels to the edge of the tub beforehand, we'd have been dripping across the bathroom to reach them. Nice touches, but the room needs some real attention to detail.

The pictures speak for themselves, and yes, it's as amazing as it looks (though if you haven't visited, you should take the excuse - it's truly stunning in person), but the real game changer is the team. The Holly Farm fam has been at this for decades, and it SHOWS. They cater to your needs and your vision, whether you want to be super hands on and into the nitty gritty on everything, or whether you want somebody to completely take the reins for you. We were so so appreciative for Erin's help during the planning process; any time we were stuck on something, she had a recommendation ready that was never just "off the shelf". We didn't want to be totally consumed by wedding planning all the time, and even though Erin had a big list of vendors ready to go, we were more than happy to listen every time she said "here's the 2 who I think you guys would love". It's really really telling to me that every single vendor we spoke to - without exception, including the ones we didn't end up choosing - all said some version of the same thing: "oh man I LOVE doing weddings at Holly Farm". Here's what I'll say about the weekend itself - it truly feels like you are staying at a luxury resort where you and your friends are the only guests. The entire staff is so attentive, so friendly, and they take care of all the details and logistics so that your only job really is to just enjoy the weekend and stay relaxed. We cooked a huge friends and family dinner in the Adobe and they cleaned the entire kitchen for us! Anytime we were hanging out in the evenings they rolled the portable heaters up without us asking! They moved our rental equipment around to make cool outdoor spaces for us so that we could get more use out of it than just the wedding itself! And nothing felt so satisfying as passing by Ryan on a path and hearing "hey I just lit your fireplace for you!". Of everything we loved about our wedding, the thing we loved most was getting to have this full weekend experience with our closest friends and family in one place, made truly special by the care the entire Holly Farm team put into making us feel at ease and at home. And one final thing - lest I leave you with the impression that this is only about good vibes - the operations for the wedding itself were incredible. Having a roaring fire in there, plus a heated blanket on the bed....A+. - The optional River House for extra space is definitely walkable (~3 mins), but it's nice to have flashlights at night. - Having the flexibility to use the space however you want for the entire weekend is a highly highly underrated perk. We had people hanging out on Thursday and Friday and it was a ton of fun. Highly recommend making plans that utilize the space every day. - We were nervous about the higher cost at first, but asking friends and family who stayed on site to pay for rooms turned out to not be a very big deal, and what we charged them was still way less than area hotels. - The music has to switch from DJ's speakers to house speakers at 9:30pm, but the house speakers can stay on all night if you want.
