Blood stain on sheet below pillow
    Tom P.

We originally planned on staying for 6 nights but left after the third because the room was simply inhospitable. Upon arrival we found a lot of loose hairs in our bed, sheets, and shower. The following day, we discovered bedbugs and dried blood directly on our sheets & pillowcase. We notified the front desk, who insisted that we had cockroaches, not bedbugs so apparently they have both. We asked for a partial refund but was rejected, even after notifying them about the blood and bedbugs. Will not be staying here again, I'm not sure why they expect people to believe the "positive reviews" on here.

Horrible horrible horrible. Room smelly and stuffy. Closet smells horrible like moldy stuffy pee. Air conditioning spit water at me told it was normal and would stop in a few minutes. It didn't. Was told they would have it fixed at 9 am it wasn't. Went back and asked said it would be fixed at 3pm we went out for the day came back at 8pm still was not fixed talked to front desk. They said nothing they could or would do about it asked to speak to the manager and was told no they weren't available. She then closed the window on me. Absolutely ridiculous. Air conditioner has a rag stuffed in it which means they already knew about it. Will never stay here again watch out for room 27! Will post a photo of rag in air conditioning Update. .. After speaking to the manager she said the issue will be fixed and that she would give us another weekend free of charge.

My boyfriend and i stayed here lastnight. Being a fan of everything old and vintage i loved it. The building is over 150 years old. So its a bit quirky. Decore is old. It smells old. Like a vintage store. The staff and residents were nice. Only fourty for one night. The room was clean. Lots of little noises and sreeks here and there that you expect with an old place. Freash paint. Clean linins. Someone who works there knows how to sew because the blanket was hand stitched. Very comfy. Pillows were old and bromen in. Just how i like them. The boyfriend and i took advantage of the old decore and did a black and white photo shoot. Super fun! As far as location its on the outskirts of the old part of wilmington. Driving down avalon twards the 405 looks like it hasnt been upgraded since the fifties. Not for the faint of heart. But if you dont mind ghetto fabelous and can appriceate the little things its awesome. Gotstopped by a cop while waiting in my car outside for having a temp tag. Cop was super nice. So i wouldnt mind having my car out there.

This is a very unusual hotel at the very end of Avalon Street. It has that very edge of town feeling my room was huge and beautiful!

I believe I spoke to her when I called in and asked for joining rooms if at all possible. She told me they were completely booked but she will see what she can do. Baby she made a miracle happen. It was my sister's wedding and her precious hotel cancelled due to over booking. We had 5 rooms and she managed to get my sister and my room connected. Now back to the hospitality, upon arriving walking in it smells like they've been cleaning and it's around 630pm-7pm at night. Most hotels still smell like they've outside at that time. She was so entertaining and energetic and seems like she actually enjoyed her job. Where as many of those in hospitality don't. Her conversation was genuine and she act like she's known me forever. I just love it. I will definitely be coming back again. But only if she's on shift because she definitely made a stressful situation worth going through.. Forgot to mention the rooms smelled fresh and clean. No issues at all. Thank you Griselda for everything. You really made my day..

My family and I cruised out of San Pedro back in June 2026 and we live only about 45 mins from San…read morePedro but we didn't wanna deal with driving in the morning and dealing with parking so we used this hotels "Stay and Cruise" package. We stayed the night and got to leave our car there for the week and just used an Uber to get to the San Pedro cruise port. I was reading reviews after booking and they were a little scary. People said it's super loud because of the freeway, it's in a horrible neighborhood, there's homeless all over, it's a filthy hotel and the hotel is horrible. Unfortunately that was our only option to stay the night and park for a week. One other hotel near the port (DoubleTree) was SUPER expensive ($525 a night) and the other hotel near the port (Crowne Plaza) was sold out. So we didn't have a choice to stay here. It was like $240 to stay the night and park for a week. When we arrived, we got parking directly in front of the entrance so we were happy about that since we felt our car was safe for a week. There was a girl and a guy behind the counter, I wish I would have gotten their names, because they were very nice. The hotel is near the freeway but the noise wasn't that bad, and we were facing the freeway. It isn't in the best neighborhood but the San Pedro area isn't super safe anyway. My wife and I walked across the street to the gas station to get some snacks and we had no issues. We saw maybe 1 homeless person around and the hotel wasn't that filthy. It wasn't the Royal Plaza but it wasn't horrible. When we checked in the girl behind the counter said the 4th floor was being remodeled. The carpets could use a little TLC and were pretty dirty so hopefully they will put new carpet down someday soon. When we checked in, we went in the cold pool and hot jacuzzi. They have a washer and dryer next to the pool with the vending machine. The pool and Jacuzzi is basically in the parking garage, which is weird but whatever. The room itself wasn't horrible. It was spacious, but the closet had no doors or anything (as you could see in my pictures) but it doesn't really matter. As far as the breakfast options, it wasn't anything special. I don't really remember everything that was there but I'm sure you could research it or call and ask. I just remember it was pretty lack-luster. All in all, it wasn't a horrible place but wasn't anything fancy in the least. We met a few cool people that were cruising the next day on our ship. If your a big family, traveling across the country to cruise and want somewhere nice, then splurge and stay somewhere nicer......but if you don't care and just want somewhere to lay your head for a night or two and wanna save some cash, stay here because it isn't that bad, just don't expect anything fancy. If we cruise out of San Pedro in the future, we might stay here again depending on the price and availability of the other 2 locations I mentioned above. If they are too expensive at that time or sold out, I'd stay here again.

The following is my breakdown that I base on the hotel class. STAFF: 5 stars. Everyone is so sweet and accommodating. The cleaning staff is polite, and management makes sure to do anything they can to ensure I had a great stay. AMMENITIES: 5 stars. Hair dryer, toiletry dispenser in the shower, coffee in the lobby, nice fridge and microwave. CLEANLINESS: 4 stars. For the most part, everything is tidy and looks great. HOWEVER, the walls need to be shown some love, and the carpet could do with a thorough shampooing. NOISE: 5 stars. For being right on the road, the noise in my room was deadened greatly since my door was in an alcove. I cant speak to how other rooms might fare, but Ive had no problems. LOCATION: 5 stars. Usually location isnt something I place great importance on since I have a car and dont mind a little drive. However I'm very pleased with the number of stores and restaurants withing walking distance. PRICE: 5 STARS! I always get a killer rate with this place. The rooms are incredibly nice for such low prices. Very pleased customer!

I put a lot of trust in their word since they've previously stayed at this specific hotel a few times and they choice was perfect. Driving from the bay to Southern California was a whole trip in itself with two kids and the last thing we wanted to do was to rush the moment we got in the car and into the hotel. That being said, we decided to stay two nights prior to embarkation day. We wanted to walk in, get settled after the 7 (=/-) hour drive and relax. The hotel had everything we needed - a full kitchen, a clean and perfectly running shower, clean and comfortable beds and a wonderful view. The proximity of the hotel to the port was perfect. All eight of us were able to get our belongings together and not stress on getting parking. The continental breakfast was great as well. The staff was beyond amazing and during one of our nights we were able to watch the UFC fight downstairs in the lobby with a crew of construction workers. One of the staff attendants gave my girls crayons and coloring paper. She sat down and helped them with their art and it was honestly precious.

However for those of you whom actually travel across the country and have experienced small business motels, inns, hotels this place is pretty decent. It is clean, more modern than not, and has shutters in place for those who work nights. Have not seen any unwanted guests (insects) and the bathrooms do not have any scary mildew stains. The view is not something to be admired but if you want that you might have chosen the Hilton or the Marriott. The good- parking is watched and is decently centralized for guests The bad- it is still an inn/motel so the noise level from outside and neighbors can be a bit more than expected in a hotel The ugly- don't like the bed covers under the spread. They are pretty worn and look like they came out of someone's house. The sheets are as expected.

We didn't want it too far away from the newly purchased home, as the contractors sometimes have questions and need us to be available for decision making purposes. We noticed "The Rose Motel" although not all that updated from the outside, the rooms were clean and had everything you would expect for a local motel at a very reasonable price. We stood the first night which turned out to be very a very pleasant experience and actually a little nicer than we expected for the price so requested a Sunday night with no problem however, on Monday my fiancée was going to pay for another night and unfortunately they were already booked up for the out of town refinery wokers. We were disappointed that they take over all or most of the motels in that area.are going to try and reserve a room for tonight. Because we thought we were going to stay another night, we were over an hour late checking out. It was not a problem to the staff who also happens to own the property.
