The Fairmont Breakers in Long Beach is the best hotel in town. It is a 5 star luxury resort hotel, and you never need to leave there, but do, because you have to have a meal on Pine Street, the staff will give you directions. This is a vintage hotel on the outside and and a fully remodeled interior and all of it is stunning from the lobby to the rooms. They have a great pool and gym, steam room and relaxation room. If you want a massage they will handle it. The rooms are all comfortable and quiet. They are spotless and the beds are great. It is quiet and the amenities are great. The service is very good, but they do need to work on getting you into your room on time. The maid service is exceptional. We also love the valets. This hotel is expensive, but great for a special occasion. It has a full bar, room service and at least 3 eateries. We loved having brunch there. Their eggs benedict are just great as is all the food. We did not get a chance to try the other eateries. We loved the pool. The only issue I had was the AC kept going on and off and that is not okay with me, but I assume they have repaired it. You will love this place. read more

I had high expectations staying here given the fact that this is a five star hotel with a price point to match (nearly $1800 for two nights via Amex) but the service experience really missed the mark. After housekeeping cleared a used teacup from my room earlier in the day, it wasn't replaced...something I'd expect as a basic standard at a hotel of this caliber. I called to request a new one and ended up waiting 21 minutes before calling back for the status on it. I was then told that they would follow up on it and I'd receive an update on the status. 7 more minutes go by - no cup, NO UPDATE. I called back one final time, to which the man on the phone said, yes he put in a rush order and the man who's delivering it is elderly and it might take him just a few minutes longer. I said no problem but just so you know, my cup was taken earlier in the day and not replaced. The man then said he can definitely let housekeeping know for next time. I proceeded to respond and intended to say okay great but before I could even get to the great, he STRAIGHT UP HUNG UP ON ME. Also the person who delivered the cup was a younger boy so idk if the elderly man reasoning was just an excuse for the moment. I went down to the lobby immediately to speak to the manger in person and let her know how insanely unprofessional, unpleasant, and UNCOOL this was. They made an error and I got attitude back for it?! AT A FIVE STAR HOTEL. To their credit, she did apologize and sent up dessert, but by that point the issue wasn't about the teacup or a free comped anything. It was about the breakdown in communication, lack of respect, and service quality. Overall, not the level of service I anticipated for the price, which is disappointing. I will not be staying here again and don't recommend it for anyone else looking for a true five star experience. read more

2nd stay here and the experience was mostly the same except for a hot hotel room. They completed a tower cooling repair that evening causing the air to work intermittently from midnight to 7am. I hoped it wouldn't affect my room much but was disappointed to wake up in a sweat at 2am. Not much sleeping after that. Room service was fantastic (although they forgot the salted caramel syrup in my macchiato and brought it up after I had finished my coffee). Dinner at Nettuno was fine, but disappointed that the restaurant upstairs was closed on a Monday night. The hotel is well kept and spotless. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel is because all hotel guests have access to the spa facilities. It's not huge, but it was perfect for a calming escape. We enjoyed the gym, the steam room, the showers, and the relaxation room for some quiet peaceful moments. We also tried 3 of the restaurants in the hotel (the Sky Room for dinner, Alter Ego for post dinner drinks and live jazz, and Nettuno for breakfast). They were all great and really felt like an occasion. I was really blown away by the service at Sky Room. It was rainy during our stay so we didn't get to enjoy the pool, but it made me want to come back in the summer! We were on the top floor of guest rooms which offered a nice view; however, we did hear the sounds of furniture moving and cleaning carts late into the night (past midnight) because we were under the bars / restaurants. read more

We finally had a chance to stay here for a little stay-cation using our FH+R credit, and it's genuinely great to see Long Beach finally welcoming a true luxury brand among all the convention hotels in the area. We arrived on NYE-eve and the hotel was understandably busy, and the front desk team looked a bit overwhelmed. André stepped in, introduced himself, and started welcoming guests who were waiting. He asked about our plans, and when we mentioned wanting dinner at Sky Room but couldn't get a reservation online, he immediately said he'd look into it. Calls and texts were made, and what really stood out to me was how discreetly and smoothly he handled everything -- he even took down my phone number while I was updating it with the check-in agent without interrupting anything. By the time we finished checking in, he had a 6pm table confirmed for us. The next morning, André greeted us by name as we were about to put our name on the wait list for breakfast at Nettuno -- impressive, especially for a 200+ room property that is luxury but not "ultra-boutique." Keeping track of that many guests while managing the lobby is no small task. We later learned André is actually the GM, which explained a lot about the level of attentiveness. Breakfast was comped due to a longer wait, which was especially thoughtful, even though we had the FH+R breakfast credit that would have covered most of the meal. Still, it felt sincere and like someone truly wanted to make sure guests were being looked after. This historic hotel has been restored to its golden era glamour. From the moment you walk in you feel like you are transported back to the art deco era. Everything is meticulously, clean, and beautifully decorated. There is always a doorman or valet, waiting to open the door for you. Once you walk in, you greeted by a spectacular foyer. We came during Christmas time so a gigantic Christmas tree greeted us. In the lobby, there is a restaurant, coffee bar/regular bar, and at nighttime a hotel bar. On the other side of the elevators is the spot and a very nice gym. There is a restaurant located on one of the top floors as well as the rooftop bar at the very top. We had a deluxe king room. It was enough space for both of us and very clean and modern. We really loved the shower. The hotel is walkable to everything and steps from the beach. Valet parking in $50 a day. read more

I LOVE old buildings and hotels so stay at the Fairmont Breakers was so exciting! I didn't realize how artistic and beautiful the hotel would be inside. The location is nice, right next to Shorline Drive so you have the Pike area, the Aquarium, the Marina, Pine Street - central to so much going on! We went on a rainy weekend, so once the sky cleared up we took a great walk around the area just to check out what was available. We were upgraded to a bigger room on a high floor, and I was very pleased with the square footage. There was a beautiful window with 2 chairs. There was a Nespresso machine but it wasn't working well at all, but I at least got one coffee out of it! There was a small fridge, perfect for some drinks we purchased to keep in there. The toiletries were really nice, smelled great. Bed was comfy and had plenty of charger options nearby. Another room with those awful sliding doors that give such limited privacy but I guess that's the way of hotels these days. Their gym was excellent - two stories and the equipment looked very new. You also face Ocean Blvd, which was fun as you can people watch while working out. The pool and outside bar looked fun but since the weather was bad, we weren't able to use. But we did go to several other bars and one with live music, and that was so fun! I really enjoyed my stay here and the wonderful service that was provided. read more

Beautiful decorations for Christmas - good photo op. Service was very nice with people helping open the doors, providing morning coffee and Nutella donuts. Alex was the manager was super friendly. Location is nice because it's a short walk to the shore. They gave out little Christmas gifts on everyone door which was cute. I do wish the pool was inside as it was raining. Gym is 2 floors and beautiful. The bathroom robe was nicely weighted and soft. They use Le labo products which smell great. Nettuno restaurant also is solid and reasonably priced. The hotel is gorgeous inside and outside. It was nice to stay in a beautiful hotel but our stay had ups and downs. The building and radiance is all there. The staff were just ok. Check in attendant was ok but didn't seem very knowledgeable of American Express benefit program. We had dinner at Nettuno as the Sky Room didn't have any seats available. The waiter at Nettuno didn't even greet us and introduce us. Just said we look nice and walked away as we were dressed up for our anniversary. We also ate there for breakfast and our wait Chris was AMAZING! Give this guy a raise. He definitely went over the top for us and was the only person that made our trip great when everything else sucked. If you can, ask for Chris to serve you. Aside from service, Nettuno was just an uncomfortable setting because each time we get seated, it's dirty!! The tables, booth/chairs were not very clean. In a place like this that hold elegance, it felt completely off putting. They should be treating the place with care and be detailed oriented. Our rooms were fine. I love their pillows. But everything else was just a disappointment and made us feel unwelcome. Sadly, I'm not even sure if I would stay again for the price we paid to stay there. read more

100/10 stay! From walking in all the valet guys were amazing. Jordan at the front desk was fantastic he made sure to wish my boyfriend a happy birthday and make him feel special! The location of the hotel is pretty convenient for downtown Long Beach & has OK beach access. I tried their upstairs restaurant for dinner & breakfast near the lobby, both were just OK. The ambiance of the upstairs restaurant is great though, it's a good date spot and honestly I would try it again but order something different to eat because the service we received there was top tier. read more

Visited the newly renovated Fairmont Breakers Hotel for our reservation at the Sky Room, and I've been so excited to see the results of the renovation. This historic hotel beautifully blends old glamour with modern luxury. The décor is elegant and timeless, you really feel the history as soon as you walk in. Valet service is offered (definitely the way to go given the location), which made things smooth and easy. Our server Jessica at the Sky Room was fantastic and recommended we check out Halo Bar on the rooftop and Alter Ego, their semi-speakeasy bar on the first floor. We ended up going to both and had such a fun time! Halo offers great rooftop vibes with a lively atmosphere, while Alter Ego felt more intimate and playful with its speakeasy feel. Overall, the Fairmont Breakers is stunning and has so much to offer beyond just dining. Next time, I'd love to do a full staycation and check out the rooms and the hotel's other amenities. read more

So this place was super cute! It was our first time staying here. The room was comfortable. Do note they have an urban destination fee which is super confusing. In the room, they are very high tech, but almost too high tech in that there were so many buttons for everything. We were not a fan of Nettunos (the restaurant downstairs) because of the service, but Halo the rooftop bar had excellent service and views! My only complaint is that the hotel is far from the action/ you really have to plan out your time and vibe. read more

Awful experience here. Service is extremely slow- in the restaurant, pool, and room/guest services. Expect long lines and long wait times. They say they are dog friendly but do not offer dog bowls, dog beds, no dog treats, nothing except allowing dogs in the building. Located in the ghetto. Homeless people in every direction you walk, including sifting through the trash can located in front of the building. I was harassed every single time I walked my dog around the block. We were welcomed warmly by the manager Andre' and front desk gentleman Alex. It was an insane time for the hotel because it was 30 December and obviously they were busy for New Year's and it was almost overwhelming in the lobby. These gentlemen, however, kept it cohesive and sane. We were able to secure a reservation for dinner last minute at the Skyroom thanks to Andre' and had a spectacular dinner up there. I think we should have specified, but I was really hoping for a bathtub in my room so that I can soak and take care of my bad back, but I didn't mention anything about it so it's really not anyone's fault. The dinner was insanely expensive and being a Long Beach local, I was expecting nothing less because I've heard of how high the prices are and the portions being fairly small. Compliments to the chef because the presentation and the taste and the quality are absolutely superb. The view is absolutely spectacular. The service is superb and the food is absolutely delicious, so if you're looking for a special occasion for a holidays or an event we certainly recommend it 100%. Andrei took care of us the next morning for breakfast because the lines were crazy and December 31 is to be expected to be very very busy. The room was comfortable and the only wish I had for them to either have a snack bar in the room or snack store downstairs. They might have one, but I didn't see one when we arrived. This was a generally great, old-school SoCal hotel that we stayed at during a recent family vacation. The hotel was beautiful, but very crowded during the Christmas holiday. They must have let half their staff off for the holiday--with full occupancy. Service in the hotel's restaurant was friendly and sincere. We ate breakfast and most dinners here over our 3-day stay. The bar was also very nice with skilled bartenders. While the nightly rate we received from AmEx Travel was good, I don't think that we will be back due to the small hotel size. read more

We were lucky to be able to get last minute reservations because our planned ferry to Catalina was cancelled because the storm was so awful. They canceled all trips that Wednesday. We got a massive room in the corner with beautiful views of the harbor. The rooms were in perfect order and everything was very clean and well appointed. They had a coffee maker with the pods in each room. We were lucky to have the kids right next door. We were very grateful that they welcomed us literally last minute since they were booked solid the next day. They were nice enough to say that they wouldn't have kicked us out but just to let them know ASAP the next day. The staff were very accommodating and sweet to us. This was a fantastic place for a staycation to end 2025 on a high note! It was pouring rain at some moments but we made the best of it. The hotel is in a great location downtown. We were able to walk easily to pick up a quick dinner and even made a pitstop at a small park on the way back in between rain showers. We would have ventured out more if we didn't have to shlep through the rain with two littles. Our room was quite spacious with amazing views of both the city and marina. I have yet to stay in a hotel where I had three large windows in my room. I felt like a nice studio apartment! My kids loved the space to explore and look out the windows to watch the rain and cruise boats. One small note for the hotel: Room 1107, the shower needs to be caulked/sealed. Water leaked through every time we used the shower. Every single staff member we interacted with was friendly and courteous. One man saw me carrying my youngest with a bag while trying to herd my toddler to the elevator and he called the elevator and kept it open for us. Also, while we waited for our table at breakfast the next morning, more staff members came by offering pastries. My kids loved the whole wheat croissant! Everyone was very thoughtful and welcoming. We felt very well taken care of! All in all, this was a very positive experience and we will keep this hotel in mind for future trips. read more

Very nice and classy hotel very close to the convention center where they were holding an annual convention meeting of sages (medical society). From the valet to the receptionist, everyone was helpful and very respectful. The room ( basic Fairmont king size)itself was on the smaller side but the furniture was modern and well designed. The bathroom was also small but well appointed with 2 sinks. The price was one of a 5 star which you don't get these days under $450 a day. The breakfast was a la carte and served with fresh ingredients. I would come back if I have to attend a conference in the convention center. read more

After over a year, a new GM later, this place still is a MESS!!! HOW does this fall under the Fairmont umbrella??? This is more Fairfield brand under Marriott. My friend was coming into town for one night, April 5th. I told her to try the Fairmont. She booked w/Amex got the room upgrade, credits, late check out, etc. blah blah blah We divided to do breakfast on Monday morning. I believe it wasn't the hostess who sat us, but a busser. He took us to the back right against the sliding door. I asked if we could get a table away from a door. I started to walk more towards the almost empty front of the restaurant. I was given a lecture from him saying "those doors don't exit so it's not an exit". WTF... in a 4+ star , nearly EMPTY space, I don't need a lecture. Then our waiter comes and greets us, tells us no bake goods are available today since the pastry chef called out?!?!?! He offered croissants but couldn't confirm if they were fresh from TODAY. The plating when our breakfast was on par with Denny's or a diner. (See below) I'm aghast at the low bar here. We had apps and cocktails at the only daytime bar available. Our charcuterie board looked like a teenager and Instagram tried to make one for the FIRST time. (See below) This is just sad!!! The presentation of the food, two separate, times and time places within the hotel shows and speaks volumes, negatively. Please go to our lower end hotels around Dwntwn... use the money you save for small locally owned restaurants and businesses or simply tip extra... but don't waste your money here. Don't be fooled by the brand, Fairmont, I'm sure it won't last and will be forced to re-brand to a lower name soon, Courtyard. Had an amazing experience here! Before I arrived I requested a fan to be brought to my room, and it was there when I arrived. The rooms are very nice & new with upgraded features! I stayed in a corner room with bay and city views. I valeted my car and got bell service when I arrived so they took my bags up for me shortly after I got settled into my room. FOOD: I ordered room service for dinner and breakfast the next morning and it was all a 10/10! The Orange Glow Juice & Cali Scramble were sooo good! I ate downstairs at their restaurant the next day and it was good, although I wasn't the biggest fan of their crudo. THE BATHROOM: The shower and bathtub were separate but in the same room, and the toilet was in a completely separate part of the bathroom! I LOVE THAT! They had all the necessities for showering and bathing, including the softest robes that feel so luxury. The lighting in the bathroom was SO GOOD too, which was helpful when I did my makeup the next day! CLOSET: The closet space is big and fit all my clothes and shoes, as well as my empty suitcases so they weren't in the way! It came with a safe and a steamer, which worked great. THE ROOM: There is complimentary water, coffee, a mini fridge, and then there were 3 drawers under that section. One drawer had coffee/tea supplies and I used the other 2 drawers for the rest of my clothes. I love how the lights work on a panel! There are a few panels around the room too so you don't have to go to one single light switch each time. The bed was sooo comfortable and I slept great! The restoration of the Fairmont Breakers Hotel is exquisite! It is so beautiful... retaining the original 1926 look and feel. I had cocktails in the Halo rooftop lounge and also in the jazz club, Alter Ego, off the main lobby. We found the 360 degree views at Halo to be fantastic, but the bar was a bit noisy for conversation, so we went down to Alter Ego. This space is quieter and more intimate. It has a great art deco vibe. I came back again a few days later, to enjoy an espresso beverage at the lobby morning coffee bar. The coffee is excellent and the environment provides a great atmosphere to start off the day. I did get an opportunity to look around a bit. The restoration includes a lot of reuse of original wood paneling and retains many elements from the 1926 grandeur. My next visit will be to enjoy the fine dining options! read more

Went in for two drinks and very bad acoustics when a loud group came into the rooftop bar. Everything in the space is hard surfaces, they need to add more fabrics or acoustic absorbing materials to cut down the horrendous noise. Beautiful views from inside, but when you go outside there's no view unless you are extremely tall maybe? Service was great and cocktails were delicious! Sorry forgot to take pictures I was enjoying the view. I had a ranch water tequila and a vodka drink that I'm now forgetting the name of but it was off the cocktail menu and nice. I had a free hotel stay from my credit card and I decided to do a one night staycation here. I heard parking was pretty expensive so I just parked at The Pike Outlets and walked over. Inside, the hotel lobby looked so nice and welcoming, they just opened last year so everything looked pretty brand new. Check in was quick and the staff were very helpful and nice. I got the king bed deluxe room with the city view and it was so stunning. The view from my room was nice and the bed was pretty comfortable. Bathroom had le labo soap which I thought was cool. If you do decide to stay here, beware that they charge a $40 per night urban experience fee that you can use as a credit at any of their restaurants or the spa. Make sure to pay attention to your invoice after you check out cause I end up getting charged the $40 even though I ate at one of their restaurants. They were quick to resolve the issue for me so I didn't deduct any stars for this review. Overall, I had a nice stay at this hotel and it really felt like a vacation for me. read more

Immediately you can sense the priority they place on keeping the hotel clean and routinely we saw maintenance staff cleaning, painting, and repairing every corner of this exceptional hotel. We got the largest suite, which by modern standards is quite small and after a few days we felt rather confined, but other than that it was lovely. I didn't stay at the Fairmont Breakers, but since I live walking distance, my boyfriend, our dog, and I decided to stop in for a quick coffee run, and it ended up being such a lovely experience. I ordered the Iced Raspberry & Dark Chocolate Mocha Latte and it was out of this world, a solid 10/10. My boyfriend got the Iced Lavender White Mocha, and his was just as incredible, smooth, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The staff was so kind and welcoming to all of us, including our dog, which made the experience feel even more special. My boyfriend paid around $30 for both drinks plus tip, which honestly felt more than fair considering the top-tier service and quality. I'm definitely coming back soon for a spa treatment, and I'm seriously thinking about booking a birthday dinner here next month. The hospitality, the vibe, and the drinks? Immaculate. read more

We left the hotel in the morning and returned around 3 PM, expecting the room to be cleaned, but it had not been serviced. We informed the staff and were told it would be cleaned later. When we came back again around 4 pm PM, the room was still not cleaned. We then called the front desk to ask if housekeeping could come at that time. Instead of helping, the front desk staff was very rude and dismissive. They blamed us, claimed that we had refused cleaning earlier (which is not true), and then no apology offered . We did not refuse cleaning -- we simply asked for it to be done later, which should be a very reasonable request. The lack of basic housekeeping combined with the poor and rude attitude from the front desk made this a frustrating experience. Disappointing service and unprofessional handling of a simple issue. read more
