While the customer service and the people were amazing, checking me in. As soon as I got to the room, I noticed there were a lot of black hairs on the floor as if the bathroom floor had not been cleaned. I didn't make a big deal out of it I just picked it up off the floor and throw in the trash but still that's gross. Pictures attached. The breakfast was just OK as well. The parking lot got super full and people were parking in the fire lane so they really should have more parking. The location of this place is pretty close to the Queen Mary so that's why I chose it and you could see the New Year's Eve fireworks from the window, which was great. Other than that, I really wished that the room floors had been clean instead of having to walk around with flip-flops and tennis shoes the whole time. The space in the room is nice and big though, including a kitchen, so that was nice.

This hotel is all about location, location.....Upgrades to the hotel is needed! The Residence Inn is conveniently located to downtown Long Beach (across the bridge), waterfront, and Carnival cruise departures. The hotel provides amazing views of the waterfront where you can watch the ferries to Catalina Island, leisure boats, and shipping boats. Plus, if you are cruising, you are just a walk away (although long with suitcases) or a very short car trip. On the positive side, this hotel provides great views of the waterfront if you get a room facing that way. Otherwise, you may be facing the parking lot, highway or the shipping yard. That side of the hotel could be noisy. The hotel does provide a continental breakfast, although on holidays and weekend the breakfast is very busy. The breakfast is not of high quality in my opinion, but enough choices to fill your tummy. Make sure you check the milk cartons, as my milk was past the expiration date. As for the room.....Our room was on the 11th floor, the top floor of the hotel facing the waterfront and Long Beach. This room provided great view- which was the best thing about the room. For those who are staying long term the hotel room does offer a full small kitchen, small eating area, living room space, desk, separate bedroom and an expansive bathroom. Unfortunately, the room needs major upgrades. The couch was so dirty that I would not sit on the couch. Plus the couch had holes. Also the pillows were a mess when we entered the room. And the furniture and the sink basins were all scratch as well. And the carpet was torn/ripped in many areas. You could see that squares of carpet were replaced. It's a pity that a hotel with this location has not been upgraded by Marriott. As for amenities- the hotel does offer a gym, pool and spa. The pool area was small, and too full to enjoy during our stay. The pool area is located right along the waterfront. The hotel also offers parking-parking is $38 dollars. Overall, the best things about our stay was the closeness to downtown long beach, the view and the super friendly staff at the front desk.

This hotel is in a lovely area. It was safe to walk along the water for pretty views and a nice breeze. I even walked across the bridge and had a nice long walk to a beach. The staff is helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was good with standard hotel food, including eggs and sausage. The hotel was clean and offered great views. There is a nice pool and hot tub as well.

We stayed for 3 nights, march 5-8.Pretty quiet. No bar on site. It's not exactly walkable. There is a walking path that takes you about 20-25 minutes to some restaurants. Recommend Parker Lighthouse, food is really good! Not sure we'd stay again.A lot of homelessness (some were scary) so unfortunately not safe to walk in evenings to restaurants. The staff at hotel was 1st class and exceptional, especially the young gentleman who was working the front desk! Parking was pretty steep I think close to $40 a night? We didn't have a car. Room suite was spacious.FYI rooms are cleaned every 2nd day.Not a big deal to us we just ask maid for new towels.

Theres no way this was not seen during inspection! Bed bugs were huge!!

During our stay at this hotel in Long Beach, we discovered bed bugs in our room. We have photos and videos clearly showing the bed bugs in the bed, along with evidence of the bites we received. We immediately reported the issue to hotel staff, and the only resolution offered during our stay was to move us to a different room. After submitting our evidence, Marriott's claims department informed us that a third-party inspection later found no evidence of an infestation and therefore denied responsibility. However, in the same letter they acknowledged that we were bitten and that we saw an insect in the room. The fact that an inspection performed after the incident did not find evidence does not change what we personally experienced and documented. We have clear photographic and video evidence of bed bugs in the room. As a guest, finding bed bugs in your bed is unacceptable. Having to switch rooms, worry about bringing bed bugs home, inspect luggage and clothing, and then be told the hotel bears no responsibility was incredibly frustrating.

Such a cute hotel. Not busy at all. Great complimentary breakfast. Really nice walking trail. They gave us a 2 pm check out. Surprisingly nice.

Ehhh not impressed. The lobby and exterior are nice, but the room itself is alright. It's one of the smallest residence inn's I've stayed at which I would've been more okay with had the hotel been more central to downtown. It's close to a mile to get to attractions which is fine in nicer weather, but not in the winter. Not much of a view either. Parking is $38 a night so not the worst, but finding how to enter was a little confusing. Ubers usually had no problems finding it, but all my Uber drivers were locals. At least breakfast is free. They also decided that deep cleaning the carpets right in the middle of a holiday week was the right move which meant my carpet was wet the entire stay. Room itself was alright. Wet carpet was gross and there was a tear on my curtains that they covered with tape lol. Again I would've been fine with it if the room was cheaper. I paid with hotel points, but it was so pricey for NYE compared to other Marriott in the area. Not sure if I'd come back, but wouldn't be upset if I had to.

My family and I only stayed here for 1 night because we were catching a cruise the next day. We wanted somewhere close and had the "Park and Stay" deal. We made a great decision. Since we stayed only 1 night, we didn't get to experience a lot here but here's my thoughts. The girl at check in was super nice and friendly, I wish I would have gotten her name but didn't. The room was amazing. It had a small kitchenette, which I didn't expect until I opened the door. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The TV was against the side wall which made me think "How the heck are we going to watch it from the bed?" It was attached to a pull out and swivel wall mount, it was such a a nice touch...I've never been in a hotel that had a mounted flat screen television on a pull out wall mount, and i stay in at least 2-3 hotels a year....it was a nice little touch. The pool was nice and so was the Jacuzzi. It wasn't busy and had a lot of seating around it. The lobby was big and beautiful and had tons of seating. The morning breakfast was awesome. It had tons of different food and the kitchen staff was very nice. Like I said earlier....we only stayed one night so we didn't need a bar or restaurant in the hotel....but I can see how some people would be upset about that. There isn't anything walking distance that I saw so if you don't have a car....you're kinda screwed. I read the pool was supposed to be heated but wasn't. My family and I loved the art work in the room. If you're staying for a cruise...the "Park and Stay" deal is awesome. I felt like our car was safe and knew it wasn't going to be messed with sitting for a week. I totally recommend this hotel especially if you're sailing.

This place is a gem! We only stayed for one night prior to taking a cruise but will definitely come back. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite and the view was incredible. They also helped us out with a restaurant recommendation because we hit in a little late. There's a restaurant, Fuego, about a five minute walk along the water away. Great food and they have vegan and vegetarian options. This location is convenient, the room and lobby area are impeccable and I'd stay here anytime I'm in the area.

Awww I'll always remember this place as my Summer 2024 memory. We were renovating our home and stayed here for like 2 months. It was pretty crazy lol. It all happened so quickly, the contractors showed up and we were driving around at night looking for a place to stay lol. We first went to Torrance residence Inn. THE WORST WORST LOCATION OMGOSH. and then we came here! It was soooo clean and beautiful and my puppyyy dog was able to stay too! They have free breakfast every morning and the pool was usually empty. They have such a great path to walk your dog. I had so much fun here and LB this summer. Huge lot to park your car! It felt like a big happy family since we stayed for so long, all the employees were extremely friendly. I will refer all my friends and family here for extended stay. Thank you for making one of the best summer memories. PS: if you guys are fans of... DEXTER!!! I was here when they filmed it! I had no idea they filmed so much in LB. I guess this area does look Miamish lol. They were filming the new show Dexter original sin. And yessss I saw Patrick dempsey, Christina Milan and Christian slater lol. Def star struck.

Checking in was a breeze in-person but you can also do it via mobile if you're in a hurry or don't want to wait. There's a private hotel parking garage and valet parking so you have a choice in how bougie you want to be (both will cost you). We self-parked but honestly didn't even go back to the car until it was time to leave - this hotel is quite centrally located and walkable to everything you could want in downtown Long Beach! We got a king bed with a city waterfront view. The room itself was clean for the most part but there were stains on the bed sheets, bathroom walls and towels. Wee bit gross, but compared to some other horrific places we've stayed at, it's still passable. The bathroom has some really weak water pressure, so get comfy and be prepared to really take your time taking a shower to get all the soap/shampoo out. The room comes with a small fridge and coffee maker but no microwave, so if you want to reheat/nuke anything you have to use the microwave next to the ice machine in the hallway. We were on the 8th floor and we quickly found out that the walls are really thin - you can hear your neighbors, people walking in the hallway, and anyone in the pool area quite clearly. The room came with double shades, which is great for keeping the light out. Unfortunately, they're also on the older side and require some effort to open/close them. We got a scare when our neighbor opened/closed their shades - it was so loud/creaky that it sounded like someone was trying to break into our window. There's a bar downstairs in the lobby along with a market/kitchen if you want to get your eats/drinks on. Plenty of tables around if you want to get out of your room for a bit. We ordered room service for breakfast and ordered in-person at the market for a late dinner. For breakfast, we had a breakfast burrito and huevo rancheros. For dinner, we had chicken tenders with side wedges and a burger with side tater tots. It's convenient if you don't want to worry about going out for food since they have a pretty decent menu (naturally all of the food/drinks are overpriced but that's a given with any hotel). The pool is open late which is great if you don't want to get sunburned during the day (there's no shade whatsoever in the pool or hot tub). If you go for a night swim, you also won't have to fight for cabanas as there are fewer people around. The hotel provides complementary towels once you get down there, so all you need is your room card to access as many towels as you need. The pool is heated though, so it's not as refreshing as you would think on those hot summer days. We saw a cockroach scurrying around the cabanas/poolside chairs when we got there so maybe play it safe and keep your shoes off the ground. Overall it's not the worst hotel we've stayed at but nowhere near any of the best. It's perfectly adequate/decent if you're going to the convention center, Queen Mary, Aquarium of the Pacific, etc. The lack of cleanliness, paper thin walls, and weak water pressure are turn-offs though. We only stayed here because it's literally steps away from the convention center.

Upon a busy check in right about 5:00 PM on a Saturday in the summer time, we were notified that the AC in the hotel is out. (Side note it had been out since Tuesday and no one notified us until now) We were traveling with our bulldog so this was a huge deal and I immediately asked to be placed at another Hilton property. Art at the front desk was very kind and accommodating. He offered a room with a window that opens as well as a patio, so there would be a constant airflow. He also said if we weren't happy we could come back down for a full refund. Art in general was beyond gracious. We chose to stay, as the sun was going down, and when you're close to water it gets pretty cool even in the hottest months. We had some drinks at the bar and tried to make the best of it. The bartender was also kind and working hard in the heat! All was well considering the circumstances. Until midnight when all of the building alarms started going off every few minutes. We were only staying one night for a relaxing day away with our dog on the beach, and because of this property we definitely did not receive that. I've had to open a case for a refund, which seems crazy to me. As an honors member I definitely thought it would be offered without hesitation, and possibly even more compensation. Unfortunately this was not the situation. For a property with a great location, it needs a deep cleaning and a few updates immediately. With that, I'd consider returning.

Like every other hotel I've stayed at, they said they would call when the room was ready. They never did. I had to return to the front desk and ask. It was ready. This has happened at every property that makes the same promise. I actually have a dedicated hundred dollar bill sitting lying dormant in my wallet awaiting the first hotel employee that actually calls me when my room is ready. It will be all theirs when they do; and I will recognize them for being the first ever to have done so in my personal decades of staying in hotels...! The room was nicely done and elegantly decorated. The linens were excellent and the bed was comfortable. I had a city view rather than water, which was fine. Public areas (lobby, bar, restaurant) ran warm in the summer with the large glass and cavernous volumes, but the room air conditioning worked decent and kept a good room temperature. One detail I really appreciated and wish more hotels would incorporate: a filtered water station next to the ice machine. Location worked well for the business meetings I had the next morning. I've been a long-time Hilton Diamond member, but Marriott properties like this one are starting to pull me over on overall quality. Solid stay once in the room, with a few operational misses that keep it in the 3.5 to 4 star range for me.

You cannot set the room to a specific temperature and have it maintain that temperature. The AC shuts off, and by morning our room was 75 degrees, which made sleeping extremely uncomfortable. The pillows were also terrible. The feathers were clumped into certain areas, so we spent the night constantly trying to fluff and readjust them just to get comfortable. The bathroom was extremely small, outdated, and visibly run-down. Overall, the room simply did not feel like the quality you would expect from a hotel in this category. Then, at 6:47 a.m., while our entire family was asleep, someone knocked on our door asking if we had ordered pillows. We said no, but instead of apologizing and leaving, they continued questioning us: "So, you didn't order pillows?" Being woken up before 7 a.m. for something we never requested was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. Parking is another disappointment: $49 per night, while parking directly across the street is around $20 overnight. We stay at nice hotels regularly, so we have a reasonable idea of what to expect at this price level. Unfortunately, this has been by far one of our worst hotel experiences. Between the uncomfortable room temperature, poor bedding, outdated bathroom, early-morning disturbance, and excessive parking fee, this stay has been a major disappointment.

We were SO excited to book a stay on the iconic Queen Mary for a fun weekend getaway. Picture it: historic ship, cool vibes, maybe even a ghost or two! What we didn't picture, however, was spending hours of our precious Saturday night in a bewildering, frustrating, and utterly avoidable parking saga. First off, absolutely NOWHERE did we see a warning about no on-site parking. Seriously, how is that not front and center when you're booking? We arrived, full of anticipation, only to hit a wall of traffic for over 30 minutes thanks to the cruise terminal. Annoying, but whatever, we're almost there, right? WRONG. We finally get to check-in, ready to drop our bags and explore, and that's when they casually drop the bombshell: "Oh, you can't park here overnight. You need to park in downtown Long Beach, about two miles away." Two miles?! And then it got even crazier. They didn't give us an actual address, just a blurry picture of what the lot *might* look like and an "approximate location." They told us to look for employees if we had questions. Spoiler alert: no employees were found in the confusing labyrinth that is downtown Long Beach parking. We called the front desk, hoping for some clarity. The first guy said, "Yeah, you can park here overnight." Relief! But then, he immediately contradicted himself, "Oh, wait, not if you're staying more than one night." What?! We kept circling, getting more and more lost and frustrated. Another call, another person, this time suggesting the convention center parking - a place that had never been mentioned before. Are we on a scavenger hunt, or trying to check into a hotel? By this point, it was getting late, we were hangry, and just wanted to be done. We finally flagged down a shuttle driver who, bless his heart, suggested the Pike parking garage. Fine, we'll pay, just get us there! But guess what? No parking available there either. At 9 PM, defeated and utterly exhausted, we threw in the towel. We gave up on the Queen Mary and booked a last-minute room at the Marriott downtown Long Beach. And let me tell you, the service there was absolutely second to none. They were welcoming, helpful, and actually had a place for us to park! The next day, still wanting to experience *something* Queen Mary related, I'd booked a haunted tour. Guess what happened when we showed up? "No parking for the tour, you'll need to park downtown." AGAIN. Seriously, Queen Mary, this is a major issue that needs to be communicated CLEARLY and consistently. Because of this entire ridiculous experience, we will absolutely not recommend the Queen Mary for an overnight stay, nor will we ever stay there again. Do better, Queen Mary. You're a beautiful, historic ship, but your guest experience, especially around something as basic as parking, is completely unacceptable.

Our room was absolutely filthy. There was dust and grime buildup on all of the ledges, stains, crumbs, hair, dust, along the bed frame and in the crevices of the chair. just no attention to detail at all. we did contact the owner and opted to leave and were provided a full refund, but the kind of build up that was in that room was either from a long term stay that wasn't cleaned up properly or just terrible cleaning over and over. side note: wifi signal was not good, bedding was bare minimum and no hand towels or face cloths provided. I'm not looking to trash the owners, I just don't want anyone to be in the same situation we were, having to look for another place last minute after a long day of traveling, I was almost in tears, plus I had to pay way more to stay somewhere else because there weren't a lot of options.

So rather than pay an astronomical fee for the privilege of proximity, I did a quick search of the area. There are plenty of options, but many of them just seemed suspect. The I came across the Varden. Definitely a boutique hotel, but definitely worth checking out. The rooms are typically small with barely room for a bed, a partial desk and a small bathroom area. But the room was extremely clean, the fixtures and bed were new and cool and for one person, really perfect. Particularly since other than sleeping and checking emails, what else do you really need? Well, for starters you need to feel safe. And this place does a great job of securing the facility at night, but you don't feel you're in a bad neighborhood anyway. You also might like to enjoy a welcoming attitude, and the staff and place has plenty of that. The young staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Being forewarned that the property has 3 levels and no elevator is important, but honestly, it's not a tough climb to floor 3. And as a testament at how great the staff are, they wouldn't take no, and they carried my bags to my 3rd floor room. Since I was there for meetings, I needed to press my clothes, so a call to the front desk resulted in a brand new Iron and Board appearing at my room within minutes. And being welcomed by a reception with snacks, wine and drinks between 5:00 - 7:00 everyday, is just super nice. They also do a continental breakfast from 6:00-9:00 daily. They have a hip space right behind the registration area for these treats so it's easy to walk through on your way in/out of the property. And best of all the price per night was less than 1/2 of what those big chain hotels were charging. And I was less than 4 blocks (and a very nice walk past lots of local stores/restaurants to give me a feel for the area) from the Convention Center. For all these reasons, if you're in Long Beach solo, I would highly recommend you check out the Varden.
