Had to get my emissions test. They were fast, helpful and friendly. Thankful to find a place close to me that still offers the testing!

I checked the auto analyzers website and saw no appt needed 8-4:30 on weekdays. I got there at 4:10 and... guess what? I was told they were done for the day. I'm not a terribly confrontational person, but this being my FIFTH try I mentioned the hours I had seen on the website. I was still met with a little resistance, but pulled it up on my phone and physically showed it to them, and mentioned my (entirely true, by the way) sob story that I had been turned away at 4 other locations and it was due by Saturday and what do you know- they helped a girl out. 4 stars mainly because these false versions of their website (? again don't completely understand what exactly that's about) are very frustrating as a customer but very grateful they helped me out and will definitely be back when I need automotive services!

His explanation that he had to work on other peoples cars with emission expiring at end of July. Said would be done with it on Monday (had no other choice but to say okay) 4) Monday August 4 - no call again with update - called again at end of day. complained - stated they had car for over a week. because of the complaint he then gave a song and dance that the car needed an engine without any proof it needs one. 5) Tuesday August 5 - picked up car - we told him what time we would be there to pick it up and they were still working on it when we got there - said car needs engine because it has 150k on it which is not a good reason...ask any GOOD mechanic that is not true anymore 6) Tuesday August 5 - received notification stolen credit card (that was kept in bottom of console) was used in Waukegan twice - 7) Wednesday August 6 - realized there were several items stolen from console of car. I don't normally review smog stations but my recent visit to this Waukegan facility left me bitter…read more I will not be coming back to this particular facility. First off, I have an extensive background in Automotive technology. Anytime I plug in my scan tool to mine or any vehicle, I am VERY careful to get underneath and clearly see the OBD plug. This is to ensure I am inserting it in the proper direction, flush and evenly. Not sure how well they train some of these folks esp. on how important it is to be careful when testing a vehicle. If you struggle to bend over fully or cannot bend over properly due to medical or age related issues, you may want to look for other employment. As I noted above, one should take the time to get a really good visual of the OBD connector and its exact position when plugging the test connector. Failure to do so could potentially result in damage to the OBD port connector I watched as the older Smog tech in question couldn't be bothered to kneel down to get a really good visual of the OBD port when inserting the OBD connector. I clearly felt the tech's carelessness caused the connector to pop out and ultimately caused me to fail my emissions. Prior to my visit I had NO issue with the connector and it was mounted securely. I had my scan tool hooked up the week prior and it was a 100% secure and mounted. When you are not careful and try to push or force something, it is bound to pop loose or in my case the tang on one side of the connector cracked/broke from the OBD connector mount. This was due to blunt force and/or not seating the connector flush when hooking up the data cable. Yes, I was able to fix it at home but this could have all been avoided. Our time is valuable and we do not appreciate driving a half hour only to fail our test because the emission tech couldn't be bothered to go underneath and properly plug in his data cable. Thank you, Lincolnshire Emissions Center. Your tech actually got down, looked under the dash, located the OBD connector and carefully plugged it right in with no issues. They had me in and out in under 5 minutes.

The first time, I had a coolant leak and the mechanic actually SHOWED me where it was leaking. Actually seeing the problem with my own eyes when the car was on the lift immediately made me feel that they can be trusted. They fixed that problem, did some other overdue maintenance work, and the car's been running much better now, zero problems. The only minor problem I had was that I asked for the parts to be returned to me, and they weren't. That really wasn't a big deal since my driveway isn't full of coolant spots any more. I thought the price for this repair was entirely fair. The second time was a problem that couldn't be duplicated when I was driving it while the tech was in the car with me. Ah well... They didn't charge me for that visit. The most recent visit was exceptional. I managed to get the end of a gas funnel stuck in the neck of my gas tank. This caused all kinds of problems when I'd fill up with gas at Kwik Trip. I tried to fish it out myself, but couldn't. I brought it to the dealership, and they told me they couldn't see it or get it out after allegedly scoping it out. The dealership charged me for that visit. I know they have bills to pay, so I was OK with that. On a whim, I brought it to the new Meineke (formerly Pope Autoworx). I told them what happened and that I wanted them to try to get it out, but I'd pay for an hour of time, no matter what. I told them that I wanted to save the part so I could see it. Well... THEY GOT IT OUT!!!!! The dedication, time and effort that they showed me in actually FIXING this problem impressed the hell out of me. I do my own oil changes and brake jobs, but for nearly everything else, this Meineke garage will be my first call.
