Wow...where to start. 1) made an appointment for Monday 7/28/2025 (don't make appointments if you don't want to work on them) 2) Monday July 28 - Bob called to tell what was needed and we told him to take the time needed to make sure done (did not think it would take more than a week) 3) Friday August 1 - no call we had to call at the end of the day to find out what was going on. His explanation that he had to work on other peoples cars with emission expiring at end of July. Said would be done with it on Monday (had no other choice but to say okay) 4) Monday August 4 - no call again with update - called again at end of day. complained - stated they had car for over a week. because of the complaint he then gave a song and dance that the car needed an engine without any proof it needs one. 5) Tuesday August 5 - picked up car - we told him what time we would be there to pick it up and they were still working on it when we got there - said car needs engine because it has 150k on it which is not a good reason...ask any GOOD mechanic that is not true anymore 6) Tuesday August 5 - received notification stolen credit card (that was kept in bottom of console) was used in Waukegan twice - 7) Wednesday August 6 - realized there were several items stolen from console of car. Bob was rude and denies anything happened at his business. and refused to reimburse us for the stolen items 8) Not only can he not fix cars and gives excuses why he can't, he cannot keep them safe while in his possession. 9) filed a police report documenting the stolen items while at his place of business would give a zero star but not an option Update - 8/7/2025 - come to realize they drove the car 96 miles while in Bob's possession. (it's on the receipt he printed for us) Bob told me he was going to test drive it to the state line and back for a test drive, I'm pretty sure that is not 96 miles. read more

I was shocked when my car did not pass the emission test. I still don't know why it didn't pass. They gave me a list of local places in Waukegan because I am not familiar with the area and I went to the first one which was Bob's. Bob was very busy, but when I explained some of the things going on in my life, he took pity. He repaired my car and he even took it for the emission test without my even asking. I brought my daughters car to Bob's Garage needing several things repaired. The results were nothing short of horrific. After they did a brake job on the rear brakes, the brake pads literally fell out of the Calipers after she had driven only a few miles! I requested a new battery and was sold an old junk battery that lasted less than 30 days before it needed replacement. Both AAA and Firestone tested the battery and found it defective before I had it replaced. I have attempted to contact Bob to demand a refund due to the shoddy work but could only get voicemail and have never heard back from them. I have photographic proof and am considering legal action. I Do Not Recommend taking your vehicle to this facility for any reason. read more

My brother has been screwed over time and time again. He has literally brought TWO cars there and every time it was multiple issues wrong with the cars and several different visits every time. I don't understand how everyone is leaving positive comments unless these people have something against my brother...not only that, but the parts were faulty more than number of times, so extra work had to be done on top of the work already done. They also charge for diagnostic and that's more than enough of a reason not to go there. More money in their pockets and out of the customers for nothing when you can pretty much go to ANY other place and get a free diagnostic. There are even diagnostic machines and apps you can purchase that will automatically tell you what's wrong with your car. Just speaking facts. Be careful going here read more

We were able to leave our car on the lot until we could make arrangements to have it removed. This is the worst experience I have ever had at a mechanic shop. I dropped off my truck to be worked on because it wouldn't pass emissions. I dropped it off March 18, 2019. It sat on the same parking spot for 3 weeks. I called and asked to be informed about what the progress was on my truck. They first tell me bob was sick. Which I understand. Then when I called after not hearing from them again. They told me bob was out sick again. I didn't even get a phone call to tell me. When I went to day April 12 2019 to pick it up they wanted to charge me 111 for diagnostic check. They didn't give me any paper work showing they did that service. How do I know they even checked. I don't know if they were super busy or just had other customers they prefer to service first. But I don't think I should have paid that money. I will never return here again. I should get a refund. read more

Don't go there if you don't give him your business he will make sure to screw up with your car and make sure you pay more somewhere else or make sure you can't drive your car out of there. My mom is been driving her truck without problems at all and we took it cause the o2 sensor were coming out in the code reader, we didn't had the $800 he was asking to replaced them so he gets upset, I tell him I will go for the truck right now and he tells me no he's leaving to wait till tomorrow. Next day I go, pay him for the labor and when I try to driven out the truck don't work at all and it barely moves, I ask him what's going on and all he tells me that's how you brought it (we been driving it all this time and nothing has happen that bad) So I know for sure he mess up with it cause we didn't had the money to fix it at the moment. if I could give him negative stars I would have done it without question.... Don't believe he's reviews in the radio or facebook people. So hard to find trustable mechanics now. read more

I'm from the city, and Bob was able to take me in on short notice, and fixed my car the same day. He even took it back to the testing center to get my car passed! Bob's Garage was very helpful and I had a problem with passing the emission test for my 2004 Nissan. After some repairs the car did pass the emission test. I had taken it to another place in town, but they could not fix the car. Bob's garage service was triple AAA in my book.
