I booked this inn because it was reasonably priced, rated a 4 star hotel (how??), and had decent reviews. However I was very disappointed. We've stayed in several inns, airbnbs, etc and this by far was the worst. I contemplated booking a place elsewhere but they were all booked for the festival in lexington. This place is very dirty and ancient, not quant. Immediately you're hit in the face with several smells, some diffuser trying to overpower the bad smells. The inn keeper slept on the couch every time we walked in which was weird. The dog was cute. The minute we got into our room I smelled pee. My husband smelled cat litter but I think it was a combo of the pee and other gross scents mixed with their diffuser. I sniffed and found a pee scent on the bed, going through each layer of the sheets, smelling it but not seeing a stain. I told the inn keeper and she didn't believe me. She came up and said she didn't smell it. When I persisted, she went to the mattress layer and found a massive pee stain. Apparently an elderly couple who wore diapers stayed in there last. Since there were no extra rooms she suggested we took a mattress from a different room: but how if it was all full? Anyway she had me and my husband carry the pee mattress out and the new one in. Even after the change it still smelled so bad in the room. It was so dirty and I just felt disgusting sleeping here. They didn't even have hand soap, she said to use the face wash. Also, our door knob barely worked it was about to fall off. I poured myself wine in the room and the glasses were so musty smelling I couldn't even enjoy wine to try to get through the night. The whole place looks old and tired & the website pictures have to be super old as nothing looks like the online pictures. Definitely needs a remodel/refresh and it appears that Pam needs help, other than just a cleaning crew. It needs pressuring washing, landscaping, tree trimming. I would give a 2.5 if that were an option. EXPERIENCE: The next morning, we go outside to walk to the main house/breakfast, and the dog, Sadie (a Golden Doodle I think), is barking in the parking lot. It was about 8:45 so I commented to my husband that I hoped no one was trying to sleep late (the doors are on the outside like a motel). So we go in to breakfast and sit in one of the booths. Sadie is right in the dining room pestering a single male guest. Then after we get seated, Sadie comes over to me and tries to get me to take her slobbery tennis ball and I don't so she drops it on my bench. There are a couple more couples and two older ladies. Pam is in the kitchen and she serves each couple/guest individually as they come in so it takes a little bit to get our food. I couldn't find any hot water to make tea so we just had to sit there until she came in; about 4-5 mintues. Sadie kept going from table to table begging for food. Now keep in mind that this dog is kind of tall and when she puts her paws on the table (yes she did), her head is at the same height as the guests. The single guy ate fast and left. The two older ladies were about to have a conniption. One young lady loved Sadie & took a selfie with her on her bench seat. When Pam came in to serve more food and then sat down to chat with everyone, the ladies tried to diplomatically point out that Sadie was jumping on the table trying to eat people's food and/or begging for food. She basically called Sadie "Rotten" and joked that she had spent $3,500 on training school to no avail and that she herself had lost the Alpha Dog fight because she gave in to "Rotten". Then something super weird happened: Sadie got in Pam's face (again she was seated but Sadie was at face height) growling. I could see from my bench seat and thought the dog was going to chew her face off! It scared me and I am not afraid of dogs, not even growling ones. But this was a snarling lunge, like something set her off. Then Pam made jokes, trying to fluff it off, and Sadie backed off. But not cool - what if she had bitten her? Or one of the guests? Again - I hate to write this, however it is important that folks know that this happens, particularly if you are not a dog nor animal lover. And even if you are, no one wants other peoples pets trying to beg food - not paying ones anyway. Then, of course, it makes you think about how much Sadie was in the kitchen while Pam cooked as the dog does have a crate but apparently not in it during dining time. Then the ladies left but then came right back and pointed out that Sadie was leaning on the kitchen counter eating everyone's leftovers and Pam just shrugged, like "what can I do?" The Good Points: 1)Pam is nice 2) our Cottage room was very clean/large & the porch area was cute looking out over the meadow (if she cut the greenery off the fence so that you could see from sitting in the chairs) and had tons of towels 3)the AC blew really strongly & cold 4)the sheets were soft 5)the bed was comfy except the light metal frame squeaked when you moved 6)liked the pork tenderloin with potatoes (cooked in the crockpot) and bread. We paid $345 per night which is pretty pricey considering the area (not the greatest) and the not new/fresh state of the Inn. Honestly, worth about $199 per night. In no way is it worth $345. It must have fetched that price due to leaf season and the Louisville convention with thousands of attendees. If you don't mind older furnishings/style, and don't mind eating with a large moody dog, then this place would work. Otherwise, I think I would pass. My wife and I stayed here for a single night during the fall of 2022. We were very disappointed. We did our best to salvage our trip by driving around the countryside so we wouldn't have to spend so much time at the inn. As other reviewers have noted, the place is very tired and it needs a lot of work. It is also a very dog centric business. The resident canine rules the roost. That's a big part of why it needs deep cleaning. read more

This place is awesome. We decided to celebrate our first wedding anniversary here. The inn is gorgeous. The main house has rooms on several different floors and all are furnished with antiques. There are suites with fireplaces and jacuzzi tubs that have been added on. We originally booked a room in the main house but I'm not fond of antiques and older decor so we asked if we could upgrade to one of the newer suites. We were put in the English suite which was stunning. The decor was beautiful, a sitting area, bedroom and gorgeous bathroom. Room was extremely clean and bed was really comfy. We spent a quite evening sitting on the porch of the main house on their swing, it was like we stepped back in time. In the morning they serve an awesome breakfast, really unique creations, I had a feta, spinach quiche that was to die for. There are many items to choose from and you can have as much as you want. When we were leaving we saw cleaning crew and asked if we could peek at the other suites, she was more than happy to show us, all are different countries and unique. We fell in love with the French suite and have vowed that's where we will stay on our next visit. Owner is friendly and quite welcoming. This was a huge disappointment. The room literally adjoins the dining area...you have to enter the dining room to get into your Sleeper Car suite. The walls were paper thin...prepare to be woken up with diners at 7:30 a.m. There were spider webs on the nightstand, stink bugs in the bathroom, a pipe running out of the wall and into the ceiling...but WORST of all during Covid a disgustingly dirty TV remote (that didn't ever connect!). Never ever again!! The local motel at half the price would've been a better stay. read more

Charming and convenient lodging for a weekend of bourbon distilleries, horse country, and Lexington offerings. The owner-operator Pam was friendly and knowledgeable about the local area and served breakfasts that including a yogurt bar and hot items such as pumpkin waffles with homemade applesauce. Stayed here while on the bourbon trail. Location was perfect - in the middle of everything. Accommodations were amazing - large suites with wonderful decor. The home-cooked breakfast was delicious. This is a charming inn tucked away from the bustle of Lexington and Frankfort, but still convenient to both as well as the Woodford and Buffalo Trace Distilleries. Rooms are neatly appointed, and the staff is very pleasant and easy to work with. The breakfasts were well-sized and deluxe meals and the whole package was well worth the price paid. I cannot recommend this inn. Needs major renovations, most ceilings had extreme water damages. Ants crawling on bathroom vanity. Extra pillows in closet were covered with stains. Needed a good vacuuming and dusting. I cannot comment on the breakfast because I could not bring myself to eat, since I saw the cat sitting on the kitchen counter. read more

I was very disappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel. There were dirty tissues in the couch, trash under the bed, dead flies in the lighting fixture and you could tell the rugs had not been swept for very long time. The closet door was off it's hinge,the alarm clock was not set properly, and there was dirt all over the wine glasses in the room. The pros about the place was the staff was friendly, the rooms large and the bed didn't have bedbugs. My husband and I were celebrating his birthday with a trip to Lexington for an Eagles concert. As a surprise I decided to book a B&B. I chose Montgomery Inn because all rooms offered a Jacuzzi /jetted tub and went with the Tuscan Suite. The room was 'cute' but sloppy and worn. The accents faded, pillows flat, ceramic tiles loose (without any throw rugs to 'warm' up the room), shower curtain missing hooks, mismatched towels, spider webs, robes with yellow stains, sloppy paint trims, etc. The worst part of the room was the fact that late in evening when we went to use the tub the jets were corroded with dirt and/or rust. Even after running some time we couldn't get the water clear enough to feel comfortable to use the tub. We looked forward to breakfast, as I had read favorable reviews of the tremendous 'gourmet' breakfast. The ambience similar to the room, spider webs, dust, sloppy paint trims and a buffet with generic coffee with generic creamers, fresh fruit, nuts, yogurt, sausage patties, bacon strips, quiche and waffles. The hot food was set on was not able to keep the quiche, meat or waffles warm. Not terrible, but definitely not gourmet, many three star hotels are providing the same, if not more at a lesser cost. When I checked out, I was terribly disappointed to only receive weak apology, when showing the innkeeper the pictures of the debris that came out of the jets. I would have thought a discount or an offer to stay in the future would have been extended. Not that I would have taken it, but it would have made the apology more sincere. read more

We LOVED our stay at the Montgomery Inn!!! Breakfast each morning was scrumptious and savory! We had a variety of traditional and modern breakfast dishes with all the fixin's and after a few stories or jokes from Pam, we always left the table full and smiling. Our room was comfortable, cozy and elegant at the same time. The lil fireplace and not so little jacuzzi tub made it a great place to relax and unwind. We narrowed movies from the stash in the old fashioned library catalogue and wandered around the Lil porches, nooks and crannies of the Inn. Not only that, but it is in a prime location. We were minutes from Keen land, distilleries, wineries and several excellent restaurants including Melissa's Country Cottage Cafe and Napa Prime. We had an excellent time there!!! read more

This was my first time staying in a bed and breakfast. My husband and our 2 friends joined us. It was a lovely, memorable experience. The owner is a very sweet woman along with her husband and their kids which all run the Inn. The room we stayed in looked exactly like it did in the photos. The room came with a modern bathroom, TV, and iPhone dock/charger. There were a lot of common areas that we enjoyed and it felt like we were hanging out at home. Everything was very comfortable. There were many books, movies and games that we were invited to use. Everything definitely felt like what you imagine any b&b to be with wall paper and old furniture but it was all clean and homey in the right kind of way. My only negative with the Inn is breakfast and it's a very small negative. She prepared a beautiful meal that I'm sure most people would be fine with. She also made a point to ask about who was a vegetarian (our friend is so we appreciated that). However, my husband has some other food restrictions and we were not warned or briefed about what was going to be prepared for us. Without warning, the daughter brought out waffles towered with bananas, whipped cream and chopped almonds. The presentation was beautiful and like I said, most people would be thrilled but we wished they had warned us. My husband and I would have just preferred simple eggs and would have asked had we known we could. This was our first experience with a b&b so next time we will know. Just got back from a two-night stay here and some bourbon touring. Our room was very nice, for the most part (a few shabby edges like a leaky shower head, floorboards in need of repair, peeling wallpaper) with a large jacuzzi tub and dressing table in the huge bathroom. The bedroom had a minifridge and nice flatscreen TV. The decor was overall quite nice. The breakfasts were among the best I've had at B&B--the innkeeper actually told us what was for breakfast and when I said I'd pass on the waffle with whipped cream, she made me eggs instead. Homemade biscuits the next day with scrambled eggs and sausage were also very good. Really beats the usual over-sugared, over-greasy breakfasts I've had elsewhere. We also ate dinner at the inn one night--perfectly good but nothing very exciting (and a storebought dessert). The only major downfall of this inn is its location. It's in a great place for touring the bourbon distilleries, but the town of Versailles has very, very few restaurants. For that reason, it was nice to be able to eat dinner at the inn. The town is cute but you can't really go shopping on Main Street or out to more than about two restaurants (plus Pizza Hut). On the upside, the B&B has a good collection of pretty recent DVDs, so you can stay in and watch something at night with a glass of bourbon. The innkeeper (and her children, who help run the inn and serve meals) was extremely nice and made sure we were comfortable and well fed. Unlike many B&B owners, she didn't hover around and make us uncomfortable (that can sure ruin a stay!) but we could find her whenever we needed. Overall: would definitely recommend, especially for bourbon visitors! read more

Arrived here on Friday night to celebrate my birthday weekend. Online reservations were easy and several calls for general questions were always answered professionally. We arrived to find plenty of parking and a very cozy reception area with books, DVDs and a common Tv area. Pam the owner met us immediately and gave us all the information we would need for our stay. We stayed in the English room, the room was spacious, clean and had a great seating area in addition to the bed. The room included an individual coffee maker with pods, water bottles, wine glasses and cork screw. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows and soft sheets. The bathroom was huge! It included bathrobes and a towel warmer. There was also a sugar scrub that was out of this world. In the morning, Pam made us a delicious breakfast and offered plenty of coffee and tea. We were minted away from hitting the bourbon trail making this Inn the perfect location. read more
