All of the attendees seemed very happy with and enjoyed the choices available. I personally chose the salmon with a lemon caper sauce, red skin mashed potatoes, and the green bean vegetable of the day," and it was all was delicious. On my previous trip I chose a sandwich of some kind, but what I remember are the delicious homemade chips! They have two different rooms to accommodate groups and we were in the smaller room which accommodated our party of 18, so we weren't bothered by, nor did we bother, the other guests. For the previous luncheon we had a larger group and were seated in the other room with similar amenities. In the future, I would highly recommend holding such luncheons here again.

Mini refrigerator was stocked with sodas that we mentioned we liked. We arrived around 3 and went to our room. About an hour later our picnic basket was ready. The sandwiches and cupcakes were DELICIOUS! The next morning our breakfast included a croissant with some kind of blueberry compote and cheese filling with crisp bacon. OMG! We've stayed in several inns, airbnbs, etc and this by far was the worst. I contemplated booking a place elsewhere but they were all booked for the festival in lexington. This place is very dirty and ancient, not quant. Immediately you're hit in the face with several smells, some diffuser trying to overpower the bad smells. The inn keeper slept on the couch every time we walked in which was weird. The dog was cute. The minute we got into our room I smelled pee. My husband smelled cat litter but I think it was a combo of the pee and other gross scents mixed with their diffuser. I sniffed and found a pee scent on the bed, going through each layer of the sheets, smelling it but not seeing a stain. I told the inn keeper and she didn't believe me. She came up and said she didn't smell it. When I persisted, she went to the mattress layer and found a massive pee stain. Apparently an elderly couple who wore diapers stayed in there last. Since there were no extra rooms she suggested we took a mattress from a different room: but how if it was all full? Anyway she had me and my husband carry the pee mattress out and the new one in. Even after the change it still smelled so bad in the room. It was so dirty and I just felt disgusting sleeping here. They didn't even have hand soap, she said to use the face wash. Also, our door knob barely worked it was about to fall off. I poured myself wine in the room and the glasses were so musty smelling I couldn't even enjoy wine to try to get through the night. I could not have gotten out fast enough

Definitely needs a remodel/refresh and it appears that Pam needs help, other than just a cleaning crew. It needs pressuring washing, landscaping, tree trimming. I would give a 2.5 if that were an option. EXPERIENCE: The next morning, we go outside to walk to the main house/breakfast, and the dog, Sadie (a Golden Doodle I think), is barking in the parking lot. It was about 8:45 so I commented to my husband that I hoped no one was trying to sleep late (the doors are on the outside like a motel). So we go in to breakfast and sit in one of the booths. Sadie is right in the dining room pestering a single male guest. Then after we get seated, Sadie comes over to me and tries to get me to take her slobbery tennis ball and I don't so she drops it on my bench. There are a couple more couples and two older ladies. Pam is in the kitchen and she serves each couple/guest individually as they come in so it takes a little bit to get our food. I couldn't find any hot water to make tea so we just had to sit there until she came in; about 4-5 mintues. Sadie kept going from table to table begging for food. Now keep in mind that this dog is kind of tall and when she puts her paws on the table (yes she did), her head is at the same height as the guests. The single guy ate fast and left. The two older ladies were about to have a conniption. One young lady loved Sadie & took a selfie with her on her bench seat. When Pam came in to serve more food and then sat down to chat with everyone, the ladies tried to diplomatically point out that Sadie was jumping on the table trying to eat people's food and/or begging for food. She basically called Sadie "Rotten" and joked that she had spent $3,500 on training school to no avail and that she herself had lost the Alpha Dog fight because she gave in to "Rotten". Then something super weird happened: Sadie got in Pam's face (again she was seated but Sadie was at face height) growling. I could see from my bench seat and thought the dog was going to chew her face off! It scared me and I am not afraid of dogs, not even growling ones. But this was a snarling lunge, like something set her off. Then Pam made jokes, trying to fluff it off, and Sadie backed off. But not cool - what if she had bitten her? Or one of the guests? Again - I hate to write this, however it is important that folks know that this happens, particularly if you are not a dog nor animal lover. And even if you are, no one wants other peoples pets trying to beg food - not paying ones anyway. Then, of course, it makes you think about how much Sadie was in the kitchen while Pam cooked as the dog does have a crate but apparently not in it during dining time. Then the ladies left but then came right back and pointed out that Sadie was leaning on the kitchen counter eating everyone's leftovers and Pam just shrugged, like "what can I do?" The Good Points: 1)Pam is nice 2) our Cottage room was very clean/large & the porch area was cute looking out over the meadow (if she cut the greenery off the fence so that you could see from sitting in the chairs) and had tons of towels 3)the AC blew really strongly & cold 4)the sheets were soft 5)the bed was comfy except the light metal frame squeaked when you moved 6)liked the pork tenderloin with potatoes (cooked in the crockpot) and bread. We paid $345 per night which is pretty pricey considering the area (not the greatest) and the not new/fresh state of the Inn. Honestly, worth about $199 per night. In no way is it worth $345. It must have fetched that price due to leaf season and the Louisville convention with thousands of attendees. If you don't mind older furnishings/style, and don't mind eating with a large moody dog, then this place would work. Otherwise, I think I would pass. (I ran out of space so I couldn't post the whole review).

It's very nice and is a full service hotel and features a dining room and bar on the ground floor. We ate at the restaurant today. It is very elegant but casual at the same time. The menu we saw was a brunch menu with breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. We had the breakfast with 2 eggs, sausage or bacon, biscuit and gravy or grits and toast all for $20. The server was a young man named Cooper and he was beyond excellent. The Castle hosts many special events, there's an outside rooftop pavilion area and permanent tent-style structures on the grounds as well. There's a nice pool for hotel guests as well. All in all a fun one of a kind stay or meal break is a must next time you're in the area.

It was frenetic and rushed. It also felt like an extended sales pitch with the price list explained for each space we were shown and also slightly off-putting to hear $, $, $ during the tour. We did hear some interesting facts, but it was a rapid fire oratory that was sometimes difficult to comprehend due to delivery speed. (Imagine drinking water from a fire hose.) We were also a bit perplexed at the info provided about the popularity of the place for events, the cost of the building materials, and then viewing the property condition which was in a sad state. We started in the ballroom, which had large ceiling water stains and poorly patched areas and then proceeded to the main hall 1st and 2nd floors and viewed fleur de lis ceiling decals peeling from the surface as well as gaping holes. Finally, we were shown a hotel room that had a distinctive musty odor and then the top floor rooftop entertainment space with peeling and bulging stucco. The outside areas were equally unimpressive with poorly maintained landscaping with extensive sod replacement and burnt boxwoods, potholed asphalt, and exterior trim with peeling paint. We were told that the 3 chandeliers in the 2nd floor were $60,000 EACH, but that isn't what we noticed. (Including photos with my review demonstrating the peeling decorative decals and multiple holes in the surrounding ceiling.) We opted to leave following the tour after considering the on site restaurant's menu based on prices and offerings. We did peruse the gift shop and it had some interesting items. We had also considered returning in the future to attend a murder mystery dinner, but have decided this is a one-and-done experience. Hoping the investor group will consider a maintenance fund for the property.

I actually don't even ever take advantage of the breakfast, because I usually have a spot picked out ahead of time on Yelp. I appreciated the owner of Swann's Nest because he waited up for me, through my flight delay, and impromptu dinner in Cincinnati. Then, he put up with an idiot from the south who has absolutely no idea how to drive in the snow. I ended up driving into the garden because it all just looked like a pile of white to me. My room was very nice, and the heater in the bathroom was incredibly clutch. I think I would have been happy just sitting in the hot shower for two days with how disgusting it was outside. I was the only person staying here, and the first since some pipes had burst in the basement. I really enjoyed it, and would definitely recommend it... especially for people coming into town for Keeneland.

We had just started the bourbon tour and were amazed at how few quality places there are to select from in Lexington. We think it would be easier to find a choice of horse lodging than people! We wanted to be in a quiet location and this place scored 10/10. Our king bed was comfortable and the suggestion of dinner places were spot on. Midway is a wonderful small village where the railroad goes right down the middle of the street! The B & B has relaxed feel to it and many extras are included in the price with a self service style that doesn't involve formality. Breakfast is a simple affair, and so much better than the overdose of sugar enthused french toast that some places call breakfast. My only suggestion might be that the bread and English muffin selection whilst large has few non mass market choices. I would hope there are some good local bakers in Lexington? Jason an implant and horse lover from the frozen north of the US, was a delight to chat with, as he had opinions and was happy to express them, which we found very refreshing. We also agreed with his observations and thus a meeting of minds was accomplished. Go visit and listen to their advice, and don't taste too much bourbon and drive!

Let me just say it will not be our last.The host Ms.Glenda is a beautiful and charming lady who made us feel like we were long lost friends. The home is beautiful and very clean. You are surrounded by the most beautiful bluegrass hills and horses everywhere you look. The room I stayed it was incredibly cozy and comfortable, with a king sized bed and full bath to relax in. Breakfast in the morning was also delicious with two courses of delicious food and great company. I would highly recommend this gem tucked away in horse country for anyone looking for a quiet escape. Looking forward to my next stay in Rabbit Creek.
