People might get confused by the two names--Palisades Interstate Park and Fort Lee Historic Park--but it's the same location. Parking is metered, and the rates vary by day. On weekends, it's around $2.50/hour. We spent almost 2 hours here, and it was totally worth it. The park is very clean and well maintained. There are several viewpoints where you can enjoy beautiful views of the George Washington Bridge and the Hudson River. There are also a few historical displays that tell the story of the area, which makes the visit even more interesting. There are plenty of benches to sit, relax, and enjoy the scenery. It was peaceful and not too crowded when we visited. On the other side of the park, you'll find old cannons, restored military buildings, and other historic structures from the Revolutionary War period. The views from that side are just as amazing. Overall, it's a great place to spend a couple of hours if you're visiting the Palisades.

I prefer to go whenever it is warm outside - so spring or summer is perfect. The only drawback is the inconvenience of parking spaces! Tough to find, all of the time. Keep that in mind. River breezes are spiced by dozens of barbecues and the happy uproar of families at play; it often fills to capacity by noon. A paved path along the river makes it easy to wander, jog, or push a stroller. More ambitious visitors can link up with longer trails toward the Palisades or up toward the bridge itself. It feels like one's far away from everything even though the city is right there where my partner, his family, and I stopped by, hoping to see the GWB fully lit, two towers with 600-watt LED bulbs, on the eve of America's 250th birthday. If you want to walk, there's a walkway right along the Hudson River and there's a hiking trail adjacent to it. The trails are all connected to the Palisades Interstate Park. Parking isn't difficult to find here, but it is metered ($1.50 per hour). They also have public restrooms and a seasonal concession stand. There are a lot of geese though so.... watch where you're walking because their droppings are everywhere. Whether you want to hike, relax, take photos, or just enjoy the beautiful scenery, you can't go wrong with coming here. ... and yes, it's doggo friendly! :)

The borough also recently added dog parks, which is a great addition. However, the lack of lighting is a major drawback. The dog parks have no lights at all, making them unusable after dark. Additionally, several areas throughout the main park remain pitch black at night, making walks feel uncomfortably eerie. Adding proper lighting across the park would make this great space much safer and more enjoyable year-round.

There is a paved path around the perimeter of the park. There is an exercise area as well as a sizeable playground, focused on children 5-12 years old. Along the main path, there are also some less intensive exercise stations...they even have wheelchair accessible options. The park is very well-maintained and safe.

Braddock, a heavyweight boxing champion of the world who was raised in North Bergen. The trail surrounding Woodcliff Lake may not be the largest, but it is thriving with life. Several turtles and freshwater fish swim there. Feel free to walk, jog, or bring your domestic pet on the pathway. Bicycles, roller skating, and e-bikes are not allowed on the paths. If you prefer an alternative route, there is a nature trail that parallels with the lake. It will definitely give you the feel of being in a wilderness. Fishing is permitted in the lake, but a valid NJ freshwater fishing license is required. Visitors may rent a paddle boat or kayak if they wish to sail the lake. Multiple benches are stationed throughout the park. Feel free to grab any available seat. Everyone is also welcome to bring their own lounge chair or blanket if they prefer to have a seat on the grass. If you get hungry, Playa Bowls and Rumba's Cafe are conveniently located near the lake. They are open all year round and have both indoor and outdoor seating. A fairly large playground is on site for younger children. They may play on the jungle gym, swing set, or dual zip line. There is also a water park next to the playground. It is not an actual pool, but a highly advanced splash pad with water arches and animated sprayers. This will come in handy during the warmer seasons. There are a couple parking lots in the park, but a majority of the visitors park on the street. As parking space seems limited, I would highly recommend using public transportation to commute to the park. There are lots of activities for kids in there. + There's a road that goes through the heart of the park, so, YES you can drive through the park.
