Damn, thank God the lady had to go run some errand that took a long ass time, or I would have never found this place. Was sitting in my truck waiting for her; after about twenty minutes of sitting around with my thumb up my ass I finally thought to myself, "Seems like a great time to crack open a brew." (She was going to work anyway, and I was her ride outta there so I had some time to spare). J-walked a couple of streets to the strip mall only to find Moraga Wine & Spirits. First thing I found was some Stone brews and I thought to myself "No fucking way!!!!" Had the Russian Imperial Stout by Stone and the clerk told me about the location off Monument. As soon as she was out of work we beelined to the one in Concord and I was stooooked. So much beer, so many Stone brews. I was in heaven. THis is the only place in northern California that has such a diverse selection of beer (and most importantly STONE brews!). I will definitely be returning for all my beer needs. They have the greatest selection of beer in the East Bay carrying everything from Keystone to Sam Adams Utopias. Every 12oz bottle is for sale, which is great considering the vast selection. Just pick out a bottle from any six pack and they've got the price for it up front. Another great thing about this place is that they hold on age-able ales and sell them at fair prices. Today I picked up a bottle of 2008 Stone Old Guardian. They also had 2009, 2010, and 2011. I've seen no other store that does this. You'll rarely see any special prices or sales, but everything is standard price and not inflated like many other liquor stores. read more

This is my favorite liquor store in the area. They have a fantastic and wide ranging choices of beers, hard liquor, and wines. It's wonderful to walk into a liquor store that isn't overflowing with an endless supply of IPA's that practically every beer company now makes. HUGE selection of beer for being in such a crappy location. (The Safeway next door is filled with the scum of the earth.) A few years ago I was headed to a 1920's themed wedding and stopped in and was able to purchase a vodka bottle in the shape of a Tommy Gun. This is one store I always hit up when i'm in the area. If your looking for a great beer or bourbon selection, look no further. Their prices are quite steep for vintage and rare beer but they always seem to have something interesting that won't ravage your wallet. The beer section looks like a tornado blew threw it so get ready for a treasure hunt. Yep, can you believe it in this day and age? The employee asked me what types of beer I enjoy and after discussing for a few moments, he provided me with a couple of excellent choices. Pretty damn good lads!!! Probably one of the best, if not the best selection of beer in the Bay Area! Hard to find beers, Belgium Beers, super rare and even beer from other countries. Only downside of course is that everything is sitting out at room temp. I really wish they had enough capacity to keep everything in the fridge, since beer really shouldn't be stored at room temp. I had driven by this store many times before a yelp search for "craft beer" brought up this review. With excellent reviews, I had to check it out. While they seemed to have a nice wine and liquor selection, I was there for the beer, and I was not disappointed! The store is clean, the staff is friendly, and the craft and import beer selection is impressive. They carry local beers that I haven't even seen at BevMo. Been here twice looking for a certain kind of red wine and although they didn't carry it, the guy working at the register suggested one that is almost exactly like the one I'm looking for and he didn't disappoint me. The place look a little creepy at night since the place next door, the old Safeway is already empty and the 2nd time I was there , I saw some homeless nearby asking/harassing me for some change. Lesson learned not to go at night anymore. But other than that, they have a great variety of wines and spirits at a fair price. read more

man. what happened to this place??? my last review was 5 stars, but ive watched this place slowly go down the drain over the past year or so. fisrt off, the beer selection is not what it used to be. they still have a lot of good beer here, which is THE ONLY REASON im even giving them 2 stars. they are known forputting out vintage bottles, but its painfully obvious that they are now using ebay to price anythign vintage they have. the prices have literally skyrocketed, reaching literally double from some of the prices were a few months ago. and we are talking $20 a bottle one week, $40 the next! wtf?!?! ok, whatever right? dont like the rpice dont buy it. fair enough. though it would be nice if they at least kept the vintage stuff cold, instead its sitting in the front of the store in full light, even sometimes direct sunlight, and then they expect you to pay $40-150 for a bottle of beer that ive seen sitting at room temp for months in harsh light. they obviously dont know shit about beer. they have tons of cases of expired ipas and iipas sitting around in the hot store, they have no clue about keeping beer fresh. they used to be way more on top of the vintage stuff and keeping easily spoiled beers cold. now they have cases of literally year old stuff that went bad months ago sitting around taking up room. but the main reason for my 2 star review is not even because of this. the main reason is because thier attitudes and costomer service have become terrible here. ive been driving from an hour and a half away to drop large amounts of coin ($300-400 a trip sometimes) at this place for almost 3 years now. they used to always take care of me proper. not any more. not only are they lethargic and uninspired, they have actually even been downright rude. i went today and it was the last straw. i drove nearly 3 hours for a rare beer, and when i get there and ask for it im told that they do indeed have it, but that they are too busy to go find it for me in the back. WTF?! they said if i come back in 3 hours or so that MAYBE they can find it for me then. i told them i just drove 1.5 hours to come give you guys money, and they are unwavering that they wont go in the back and get the beer for me. needless to say instead of giving them several hundred bucks like i normally do, i didnt buy even a single bottle. have fun driving here to buy improperly stored and overpriced beer. they might as well just sell on ebay, they want almost $500 for a bottle of 2007 utopias, which i recently bought on ebay for about half of that!!! they have a bottle of firestone 11th anniversary sitting in the sun on the counter and they want $150 for it! they used to have some somewhat reasonable prices on rare vintage brews like this, now they are just absurd, literally less on ebay to get these beers, and it wont cost me $25 for gas and a bridge toll. Monument Wine and Spirits, you have lost a very valuable customers business due to your laziness and greed. this review will also be posted to ratebeer.com, beeradvocate.com, and several other review sites, as well as plenty of badmouthing from me in the beer geek world and discouragement from anyone else wasting time going to your establishment. i spent nearly $5k on beer with you last year, but all of that will now be going to beer revolution, bottle barn, city beer, and others. have fun going down the drain with your increasingly expensive and lackluster beer department. you are guys are whack and really need to check and humble yourselves and go back to your old business model, which kept better prices and fresher selection. when the next gathering of beer geeks from across the country is in the bay this summer i will make a point to NOT bring them by your place to drop thousands on beer as i have in the past. good day. read more

Best liquor store in Concord. Huge variety with hard to find beers and booze. By far, the best prices in town for alcohol, but go elsewhere for mixers/soda, they mark those WAY up. Really knowledgeable staff and extremely helpful with any questions you may have. read more
