I've been coming to Rotator for years, and it's still my favorite local spot in Walnut Creek. The…read moreaddition of wine is such a great bonus! I love meeting friends here, but it's also one of the few places I genuinely enjoy going by myself because I always end up running into someone I know or meeting someone new while sitting at the big bar. The staff always makes me feel safe and welcome, too. They're always hosting fun events, it's a great place to watch sports, and I love that I can bring my dog along. I know some people are disappointed that Rotator is now required to be 21+ with the addition of wine, something many customers had been been asking for over the years. The owners are parents themselves, so I imagine this wasn't a decision they made lightly. Families with younger kids still have several great brewery options nearby. If you're looking for great beer, wine, friendly people, and a welcoming neighborhood hangout, it's hard to beat.

I usually grab a bottle of Kavanagh just splash in my java, my trip wouldn't be complete with a bottle of vodka! Customer service is always good from the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted asked how I'm doing and if I needed help finding anything! To the cashier with the kind, small talk! The staff here is not a baby sitter and should not have to remind parents of their responsibilities as parents. At one point I was genuinely wondering if the parents even knew where their kids were. There are literally signs telling people to stay out of certain areas, yet kids were running all over the newly planted plants like it was recess. Look, I have nothing against kids, but a brewery is not a playground. If your kids need somewhere to sprint, climb, yell, and run laps, there are plenty of actual playgrounds nearby. Take them to Pixieland or COPA across the street and let them burn off some energy there. And maybe keep an eye on them while you're enjoying your beer... because watching two adults drink while their kids are running around unsupervised is not exactly the "relaxed afternoon" I came here for. The beer was good, I'll give them that. Unfortunately, the atmosphere felt more like Chuck E. Cheese with an IPA menu. Definitely not the peaceful brewery experience I was expecting.

Cons - No employee approached a male dog owner over his pit bull excessively howling / yelping over another dog. A couple yelps, fine. So, dogs are preferred over people, no one on staff to politely ask the man to control the dog immediately? ( No light-hearted tone, moreso irritated and aggressive. ) And this is how suddenly bad things happen, how a customer spews out a verbal threat ( technically criminal assault ), linked to an out-of-control situation with a pet owner and his dog and a restaurant that won't do anything about it. Simple Solution: Train employees ( or remind them ) to assertively and cordially request owners to keep their dogs peaceful and quiet. Otherwise, it's sweeping a problem under the rug. Not smart nor respectful of other customers. Being Fair: If you like the energy of a loud restaurant, whether it's music and/or dogs barking, then you should be fine, drinks and all. If you love dogs, yet want them responsibly controlled in an environment where you seek to maintain an actual meaningful conversation, this establishment is a roll of the dice.

Each time I have asked about a low alcohol wine the staff does not seem familiar with the question or a wine. Example of low alcohol wines would be Meiomi bright Pinot Noir, Arlow Cabernet Sauvignon, Bread and butter sliced chardonnay, Decoy featherweight , butter light chardonnay ect.
