Wow! Thumbs up all around for Moo Dang. I saw they were running a Saturday special dish that they posted on their IG and FB pages - Kao Soi (a thai curry noodle dish) for $10 and the picture had me drooling, so of course I had to respond to their IG post and preorder the dish. They took my name and said all I had to do was show up between 12-2 p.m. on Saturday and pay and pick it up. Before heading to do my pick up, I decided to order an additional dish through their website. The online ordering was smooth and easy. I ordered the Kra-Pow spicy basil dish with tofu and crispy pork belly. There is a section while ordering where you can add special instructions and I requested the pork belly be extra crispy and also mentioned I also had a separate preorder of the Saturday special. I paid for the spicy basil dish online and off I went to pick up my order. Upon arrival, the door chime notified the workers I was there. An employee with mask came and asked for my name and mentioned my order wasn't quite ready, but that she would bring it to my car. Their way of ensuring social distancing guidelines were met. Awesome! They had a large hand sanitizer bottle at the register so that you can sanitize your hands after signing the credit card slip. They are also selling cloth masks with filters at the register for $5/each for those who are looking to buy some. From what I could see of their dining area they had a few people dining in, but all were seated tables apart and they had the front section blocked off and tape on the floor indicating where you should stand to be seated or to wait for your order. I only had to wait a couple minutes in the car before the lady came out with my order. The food smelled heavenly. I couldn't wait to get home to eat. The food was SO good, the Kao Soi tasted like a light panang curry but with noodles and the chicken in it was so tender. The Kra-Pow was cooked to my special instructions with the pork belly being extra crispy. Everything was so flavorful. I highly recommend Moo Dang for their great service and amazing food. read more

This is my favorite restaurant ever! My boyfriend and I go here at least once a week, he always gets the garlic and pepper stir fry with beef and white rice, and I switch between pad thai, fried rice, and drunken noodles. I'm never disappointed with the food or service, they're quick and efficient and if they mess up, they are more than happy to correct something. Definitely a must have restaurant!! read more

This place is a total gem! I ordered take out from here and everything I had was fantastic. I got the moo ping appetizer, pork skewers with a bright, acidic sauce; drunken noodles with chicken and mango sticky rice. I am not a huge pork fan and I am also not a huge fan of fish sauce, but the moo ping appetizer changed everything for me. The pork is marinated and flavorful with a slight char and the sauce is absolutely the most perfect compliment. Normally, getting Thai food to go can be a dangerous game, the noodles get gummy and sticky and are typically not enjoyable. I don't know how Moo Dang did it, but my noodles were not in one giant ball when I got home, the veggies were crisp and fresh and the sauce was delightful. Now, mango sticky rice is probably one of the most amazing things to ever be made, but all the components have to be just right. My mango was ripe and sweet, the sticky rice was served warm and perfectly sweet. 10/10 would recommend. I will be returning for sure! read more

I've been eating my way through the Thai and Chinese restaurants in Reno searching for something that could compare to the flavors I grew up with in the bay area. I think I finally found it! The fresh spring rolls were pretty standard, but their tangy spicy green dipper added to the overall fresh taste. My pad see ew was cooked perfectly and had the exact right sauce on it. Loved it! It was great to be seated right away somewhere on a Saturday night. There's a nice, casual atmosphere here, and you're not super packed in. My friend and I were still able to have a private conversation, and a lot of it! We chatted for over two hours and never felt any pressure to leave or buy more. The staff were all so sweet. This was our first time coming to Moo Dang despite living in Reno for 9 years! I hear so many rave reviews and my wife loves Thai food, so we checked it out on a date night. She wanted to try their version of some standards - Pad Thai and Panang while I tried a ginger stir fried dish with pork. The Panang was very good. Unfortunately they didn't ask us spice level and it was a bit too spicy for us (we are wimps with spice unfortunately). The flavor was great, though. The Pad Thai was good. I prefer mine with more peanuts and this was more traditional with a spicy sour sauce that just isn't my favorite. I enjoyed the ginger dish, but the hunks of ginger were a bit overwhelming even though I liked the flavor in the dish overall. The staff were a bit overwhelmed - only 2 servers for the entire place, so service was slow and a bit lacking. The booths and overall feel was a bit run-down feeling to me. I am a Thai food connoisseur. I eat a lot of foods, but there's no doubt a moment in time where I can refuse delicious Thai food. This place is pretty yummy and cheap! I love all of their noodle/soup dishes and their papaya salad. MMMmmMm! And everything washes down nicely with Thai tea and the thai coffee (my fave). I LOVE this place. You will taste every spice in every dish and enjoy every bit of it. Such a gem in this little town. Careful with the spice level when you order - their scale is different than most places. If you're a "medium" spicy person, you want to stay in the "two star" range at Moo Dang. TRUST ME. If you can handle the heat, I would suggest starting at 3 Stars to test the waters. I guess I would give zero stars if this app allowed me to do so. Most of the reviews are amazing but- today I had a terrible experience. Today 8-2-22 I dropped in at lunchtime to place a order takeout- fresh spring rolls with tofu and peanut sauce as well as chicken Panang curry and rice. The woman that took my order said they only had peanut sauce for the spring rolls and that is what I prefer. By the time I got home 25 minutes later and opened the food there was a long black hair swirled on the top of the Panang curry- And there was no peanut sauce for the fresh rolls. Very disappointing and $30 went in the food. I called to speak to a manager but no one was there and they actually hung up on me. I understand people are short staffed but hair in takeout food is unacceptable - quite disgusting. I know there's a ton of good reviews so maybe it was just a bad day. read more

This was the absolutely WORST so called "Pho" I have ever had. I can make a better pho on My backpacking stove out in the wilderness, with nothing more than ramen, jerky, and sriracha. Surprisingly delicious for this quiet restaurant tucked away on Virginia street. I was pleasantly surprised by their fried tofu appetizer, and pad Thai was also delicious. My one gripe is that we replaced shrimp with tofu and were charged for tofu on the side, but once we told them they were happy to fix it. I also appreciated that they use paper to go boxes. So much flavor! Wasn't sure what to expect from an unassuming Thai spot in a strip mall, but I was blown away. The drunken noodles at level 2 spice was perfect for my American taste, can't imagine any more spice. The Nam Tok salad is a must order. Was looking for a Thai restaurant on a Sunday evening and this one was open and had decent reviews so we gave it a try. Ambiance was good but the setup struck me as kinda odd, tables tucked toward the back. Anyway food portions were fairly small and flavors did not wow me. All of them were kind of monoflavored with little depth but lots of salt. I brought this up to the server. She told me to make sure I wrote a good review so that I could get the fish balls free. I thought this was backwards but hey, I didn't argue. Finally, some decent Thai in Reno!! Great prices for the lunch special too! Really filling for $8.99. I had the spicy basil chicken stir fry with a spice level of 2, perfect heat for my palette. Went for the first time today after hearing some great reviews. They definitely did not disappoint! I ordered the Drunken Noodle with the red pork and requested it spicy. It came out with a good amount of spice, not too hot, but definitely didn't disappoint. The flavor was perfect. It reminded me of what you'd actually get in Thailand. The vegetables tasted fresh. Service was great. Can't complain and can't wait to come back and try something else. Update: Been here several times now and it doesn't disappoint! Ok, I've been lazy about updating my reviews and Moo Dang is definitely a restaurant that deserves an updated review. As of a couple months ago when Thai Chili's food and service quality went downhill along with the fact that they committed a restaurant's ultimate sin for vegans and vegetarians twice (serving me meat) - Moo Dang officially became my favorite Thai Restaurant in Reno. Since I need my super spicy Thai Food fix at least once a week (or my life seems dull and somehow less bright and sparkly - hmmmmmmmm is this a sign of addiction?), I have been coming here a lot recently. I still do not like that they charge extra for rice, but in their defense, it is a high-quality rice - so logically I get it and it is fair; however, I would rather that they offer a free "cheap" white rice and then have their higher quality rice offered at a price. In regards, to my previous review they have address my other complaints: tables and chairs not being wiped down and food not being spicy enough. Since posting my last review, every time that I have been in I haven't seen an unwiped table; moreover, I have seen the waitresses working hard to wipe everything down after customers leave. The front manager (I assume he is the front manager or co-owner) also has steered me away from tables that haven't been wiped down yet to a cleaner table. Lastly, they have made my food so spicy that I had to eat it very slowly (not complaining I love when it burns!). The man whom I assume is the front manager or co-owner also provides great service. He is very cheerfully and professional. He remembers my preference for spicy and that I am a vegetarian, so I am happy. After I swore off Thai Chili (because of their second ultimate sin offense) and was trying to pick a new favorite Thai restaurant, I came in Moo Dang and the co-owner was telling me about their daily special and immediately without me asking said "we can make it with Tofu", I was sold, Moo Dang became my new favorite Thai place. I believe great customer service, is remembering your regular customers preferences and serving with a friendly professionalism - Moo Dang does this. The other waitresses are also friendly, I never had a bad service here. Also, they have never 'rushed' me or my friends out when we are finished, I hate when restaurants do that. Food here is fresh. Their flavor profiles are stunningly brilliant at times. Vegetable are not over cooked. Their tofu has an unusually creamy texture that is amazing when fried or sautéed. Their dishes are not swimming in oil. They have an interesting take on common Thai dishes that are not repeated at other Thai restaurants e.g. their flavor profiles, so some of their dishes are very unique. read more

I usually get the Thai Iced Coffee to drink, however since the Thai Iced Tea is the new check-in deal for $1.00 I got that. It is just as good as the iced coffee! The owner let me get a mixed order of the flavors of wings that they are trying out. The Pad Thai has good flavor with a very light hint of heat, very good! The Sweet Chili was also very good, it was just about as hot as I can go. The Tom Yum was way hotter than I can handle! I took one bite and could do no more! My mouth felt like it was on fire! If you like really hot it would be one for you to try. My favorite was the Pad Thai then the Sweet Chili and last the Tom Yum. For desert I ordered the Fried Banana with coconut ice cream. It looked very pretty! I had never had fried bananas before, I am glad that I tried them. I am not real fond of bananas, I think that it is a texture thing. The ice cream was excellent! The only reason I'm giving this a 4 star is because my stomach did not respond very well to the food. Which is soooo upsetting because it was so good! Don't let this comment stop you from trying! I love Thai Food and I will say that I don't think sharing portions are all that big. I think it's plenty for two people but more than that no way. Also I do recommend trying the mango sticky rice! Maria and I found that certain Thai restaurant that offers the cuisine of more than one Thai region. Moo Dang is easily accessible and has lots of parking. I am not a big fan of green papaya, green curry, or coconut milk, etc which are found in the majority of Thai restaurants and that is the base for most of their dishes. Moo Dang has all of this plus more: meals without coconut milk, We had the Sen Yai Noodles with chicken and vegetables, the Eggplant with Pork, the Ginger and Mushrooms, and brown rice. They brought us the hot and spicy condiments on the side to add to our food. Some condiments were spicy hot, others were not. We were both ecstatic with our selections and the food was not disappointing. Best Thai food, from my limited perspective, I have ever had. I have a feeling that in the near future Moo Dang will have a good following in the midtown area. A good selection of beers from Asia and other parts of the world. They also have sake and wine. Friendly, helpful waiters/waitresses who know the menu and will explain the menu items. We are looking forward to our next visit. $$, very casual, cafe decor, modest furnishings.
