I haven't been up.in this area in a while. This restaurant is the first place I thought of for food. It's nice and comforting in all this time the restaurant remains consistent. It's also funny that staff don't bother bringing me the menu and they already remember to not bother bringing me ice water because they know I only ask for hot water. We had Beef Chow Fun, the noodles were absolutely amazing, One of my favorite dishes is the Singapore Noodles. Another solid option. We ordered the Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce. The flavor on the ribs was absolutely delicious, with a deep "grilled" flavor. I ordered the Ma Po Tofu dish. It was served with the heat meater on a 2 (out of 5) and even so the dish was delicious with the Tofu a touch on the softer side. Our friends ordered the porridge, I don't recall the specific type. The group seemed to enjoy it, calling it "authentic" but to be fair, I didn't get a chance to try it first hand. Our friends did say to stay away from the Combo Plates. It was late, and I didn't want to go out, and so I decided to do a DoorDash. The food came quickly, and it was still very hot. There was a lot of food. The bag was heavy. The menu is humongous. Dim sum, Chinese, sushi, Vietnamese, with lots of choices from every part of the menu. I started with the crab Rangoon's, and they were very good. The filling was a little bit sweet, and a little bit savory, and the shell was well fried, crispy, and not oily at all. They were offering a BOGO on the combination plate, and so that's what I went for. I had the garlic chicken, and the chicken with seasonal. Veggies. On both dishes, the chicken was moist and tender. The veggies were done well. Just the right consistency, not mushy at all. The taste was great. The only thing I could say, was, the garlic chicken was a bit spicy. About medium on what I like for spice, you could definitely see the red pepper flakes on that food. Unfortunately, nowhere in the menu did it mention the spicy part of it. I did like it, and the spice was within what I like, but I think the next time I would order something else. The fried rice was very well done with a good flavor also. It was just the rice. It had no egg or veggies in it. I had enough for two meals on the first combo, and the second one went into my portable cooler, and is going home to Sacramento with me. Saw this location having a lot of items on their menu and wanted to give it a try. However, their roasted duck seemed like it wasn't even roasted at all. It was hard, barely any meat, and seemed like they just sprinkler salt and msg on the top. The duck noodle soup, at least the duck here had flavor, but the noodles tasted like it was just boiled with water and put in here with the soup. No flavor whatsoever. We did enjoy the shrimp fried rice. The honey walnut shrimp just had a bit of a doughy texture, I guess since the shrimps were smaller and they wanted to compensate. ...and yet another stop in my continuing hunt for my new favorite Pho joint in the area! In case this is the first review of mine that you've read or if you haven't read my Pho reviews, let me explain. A few years back, I visited EVERY Pho joint in the area looking to find my favorite and what lived up to my expectations, as well as satisfying my taste profile, having eaten this food all across North America. It's one of my favorite foods... I finally found my favorite back then, but the owner sold it a couple of years ago and the new owners changed the recipe...I don't like it as much, so the hunt resumed. A foodie friend recommended this establishment, so I went to check it out. I always visit at least twice before I write a review. The first MAJOR plus? They're open 7 days a week from 10am to 3a!! This will definitely be my late night option after everyone else closes, even though it's definitely NOT going to be my favorite go-to. All the food I've seen coming out of the kitchen to other tables looks great, but I haven't tried any of that yet...I was focused on Pho. My first 2 times in, I ordered the #1 Pho Combo ($14) No description on the menu, but a classic combo should have all the regular stuff...noodles, veggies, broth, proteins...and all of those items should be in fairly equal proportions to balance out all the flavors and textures that are expected with this dish. It should always be accompanied by the standard accoutrements served on the side...bean sprouts, fresh basil, sliced jalapeno, lime wedges and fresh cilantro...and the standard "sauces" that should be on the table...Hoisin, Sri Racha and Sweet Chile Sauce. I always ask for Hot Chile Oil since my spice level is WAY up there! Here's where the first fail (for me) occurs here. No fresh cilantro is served on the side. No biggie...there's enough already in the bowl to accomplish this necessary flavor. Here's the 2nd fail (for me). No Sweet Chile Sauce on the table! All my Vietnamese friends that have taught me over many years how to enjoy this dish...and how it's traditionally served...all say that this is an essential flavor component. No idea why it's not offered. The plusses? Nice portion at a great price. The proteins, veggies and noodles are all cooked and seasoned nicely. The service? Not stellar...but good and fairly efficient. Very casual atmosphere in a very large room with lots of large table seating...they even have a sushi bar here! Here's where we get into more fails for me: The broth is not as deep and flavorful as I like...although it's fairly tasty. I'm good with that...every place has their own broth recipe. The BIGGEST fail for me? When you order a Combo, it's supposed to include the traditional proteins in equal amounts. The meatballs? Just a couple of small(ish) pieces...I'm kind of ok with that. BUT...hardly ANY Tripe and Tendon! I LOVE those proteins...and even though the small amount I DID get were cooked and seasoned well, there wasn't enough of either...no balance...and I'm paying more for a Combo, so I expect equal amounts of those proteins. This seems to be an issue in EVERY place in the area that does serve Tripe and Tendon...not enough to balance the dish. These are minor issues, but they mean something to me, so I'm telling you what I think...you need to make your own assessment when you try it. I also tried (on my 3rd visit) another dish that I was introduced to a couple of years ago by a local Vietnamese friend: #38 Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Noodle Soup) ($14) A nice variation on classic Pho with a different flavor and texture profile. Their version is good, but not as good as my go-to...although, as I said earlier, they're open late and I'd order it for a late night chowdown. We stumbled upon this place randomly. We were surprised it was all one place because it was the Sushi Boba Pho Cafe Hong Kong Diner titled all outside their building. It's a huge place. The reviews are wild because I thought this place was really good!!! The service was really good too. The crab Rangoon's were pretty delicious. Dim sum was also pretty okay. The fried rice had no flavor and that specific plate came out not hot. The bun Bo hue was very hot but there was something off about the flavor, I felt like there wasn't that much flavor to begin with. The service was okay, they were straight to the point, not so welcoming. Multiple members of staff would were walking around but I felt like they didn't really care if our food tasted okay, because no one asked. Perhaps ordering different items might be better for next time. Willing to try again to give it one more shot. So tonight we had a late dinner and I wanted to come here. This place seems to always be buzzing every time I come for an uber eats pick up it's fairly busy. It wasn't crowded tonight but definitely decent amount of people and pick ups too. Restaurant is pretty large so nice if you have a big group. We quickly were sat at a table. We always go to this restaurant and order either boba or to-go. On this occasion, my niece and I decided to dine in. We ordered a couple of (cookies & Cream) mochi donuts, the dim sum appetizer sampler, the regular appetizer sampler, a King Long Roll plus two boba drinks (one taro and one cookies and cream). Our meal was pretty standard, all the food tasted good and was well-prepared. The service was efficient and polite... but afterwards, my niece and I both got sick. When you're driving around Reno at midnight and are looking for pho, this was a lifesaver. Not only did they have Vietnamese pho, they also offered a plethora of Chinese dishes, dim sum, including the favorites like honey walnut shrimp, chow fun, wonton soup, and then a third menu - which consisted strictly of Japanese Sushi options. I've been here on previous visits to Reno and this time a friend wanted to take me here again. One thing I was curious about was this "Porridge" in the menu. Porridge doesn't sound very appetizing at all. My friend explained to me it's white rice boiled down to a thick sort of soup. It usually made with chicken broth, but I guess you can use any kinda broth you want. My friend even said he made it with a big ham bone, so it was a split pea soup flavor. Doesn't sound very Asian, but whatever! I saw it on the menu in various flavors. I picked the duck, since I like duck. It was around $12 for a decent sized bowl topped with green onions. I was expecting pieces of duck in there, but it was really just chopped bone pieces of parts of the ducks that they couldn't actually serve. It did add a duck flavor to the porridge. IT need some help with spices, so I added some some oil and cilantro and soy sauce. Them my friend shows me this bottle he had, said lemme put some of this in there. What's that? MSG! Really? I know MSG does make better flavor in some things. I tasted with out the MSG first, then he added some. Oh WOW, that 's way better! The other dish we ordered was the salty fish and chicken friend rice. I had it once before and thought it was better tasting than the name suggested. Both dishes arrive at the same time. Hmm ... the rice dish looks better than the last time. This time there was more chicken and other stuff beside rice balanced with the salty fish, this was a really good version this time, hats off to the cook! We did take out this time. Got the Pho ga chicken soup and vermicelli flame broiled pork and imperial rolls. We like that it is delivered disassembled with broth in one container and noodles and toppings in another. This is great because the noodles don't get soggy. The soup is good when you need something comforting and warming. It even comes with all the toppings like basil, bean sprouts, lime, and slices of jalapeño peppers. The other item we ordered, vermicelli with flame broiled pork and imperial rolls, was served all in one container. The imperial rolls were still crispy and hot which was a surprise since it was a take out and delivery order. The flame broiled pork was sweet, savory, and cooked perfectly. If you're in the mood for hearty portions and bold flavors, this spot has potential, though it's a bit of a mixed bag. I've had better experiences in the past, but this visit left me with a few more questions than answers. We started with the Hong Kong Style Diner Chow Mein (Mì Xào Giòn). This is a popular dish here, but the menu doesn't clarify that you need to order item #65 and then request the "Hong Kong Style" noodles for an additional $2. I got it right, but unfortunately, the dish didn't live up to expectations. Instead of the crispy "bird's nest" noodles promised, the dish arrived soggy, drenched in sauce, and more like a stir fry than the crispy noodle experience I was hoping for. The vegetables were overpowering, and while the pork, shrimp, and chicken were thinly sliced, they lacked much flavor. On the plus side, the portion was huge, so if you're in it for leftovers, this is your dish, but the balance just wasn't there. The sauce was savory and not too salty, but the texture was a letdown. Next, we tried the vegetarian chow fun, which was a much better option. The flavors were vibrant, and the noodles had a great chewy texture. The dish was visually appealing with a nice pop of color, though some of the edamame was overcooked and tough. Still, this dish held up well and offered a satisfying bite. For drinks, we went with the Pandan Coconut boba. Unfortunately, this one didn't hit the mark. The boba pearls were too firm, and the drink was mostly ice with very little flavor. The color was a pale green, far from the vibrant hue shown in the menu photos. It ended up feeling more like diluted ice water than the refreshing treat I was hoping for. Service was another area where this place could improve. When you walk in, there's no greeting; you just choose your own table, and the water is brought out afterward. It felt a little chaotic and disorganized. The staff is diverse, but there's a language barrier as no one seems to speak Vietnamese or Chinese. If you need help, the owner or manager is usually by the cashier to assist, but it's not the smoothest experience. The atmosphere itself is more fast casual than anything else, making it fine for a quick meal but not ideal if you're looking to linger and take your time. Overall, this place has some solid dishes, but it's a bit hit or miss. The vegetarian chow fun was definitely the standout flavorful and well textured but the Hong Kong Style Chow Mein and the Pandan Coconut boba left a lot to be desired. When you see a place that serves sushi, Vietnamese, and Chinese food, you kind of have to take it with a grain of salt. Restaurant space was pretty big. We shared a table with a family that was already there which I thought was weird because there were plenty of other tables that did not have the "reserved" sign that they could have sat us at. Service was quick. We got imperial rolls and banh xeo. Imperial rolls were good, they're long and thin like lumpia style. Fish sauce was just ok. Had to doctor it up yourself. Banh xeo also just ok. It wasn't crispy at all and IYKYK. We don't have too many places that serve banh xeo, so I can't be too picky. Overall, I'd give it a 3.5. Cost for everything was reasonable. The noodles were a bit over cooked but just so yummy. The seating area was fairly clean with plenty of seating. The staff however was not friendly at all. They were not interested in conversation and did not come to my table at all until I flagged them down twice for a to go container.
