We came to 101 Taiwanese Cuisine because of the good reviews and had pretty high expectations, especially seeing how busy the restaurant was. Once we were seated, our order was taken almost immediately. Service was efficient and prompt. It wasn't particularly friendly, but it wasn't rude either, it felt very much like the staff was focused on turning tables quickly, which is understandable when a place is that busy. What I didn't expect was the flavors of the dishes. Each one seemed to have an unusual sweetness that didn't feel typical for Taiwanese food. From the Mapo Tofu to the salted fish fried rice and even the Taiwanese popcorn chicken, they all had a noticeable sweetness to them. Maybe I'm a bit spoiled by the variety of Asian food options we have living in the San Francisco Bay Area, but the flavors here just didn't quite match what I usually expect from Chinese/Taiwanese
101 Taiwanese continues to serve the most delicious, savory food in the quickest fastest and still hot way I have ever encountered. The food comes out so fast and it's so fresh and so hot, how do they do it? And better yet how do other places not emulate the speed and hustle of the service? We tried a couple new dishes, the chicken katsu for example was hefty and a delicious sauce. We also had the chow mein noodles which are served with an egg and extremely flavorful, they are similar to the garlic noodles but with less garlic and more bells and whistles. The Szechuan eggplant is so soft and tender and juicy. The pepper pork dish is one of our favorites so much flavor and the peppers stay so perfectly crisp. My only gripe is it's all on the super salty side! And the garlic does stay on your breath for way too long. But worth it for how delicious, filling and tasty everything is, and such a great value only $25 a person for such a variety of food and dishes. Love coming back to 101 time and time again!
One of alternative fix from a hangover outside pho. The broth is a little spicy but it is delicious. The braised beef was really tender. Service is very attentive and the lady that serves us was really nice. The ambiance is nice, got lucky it was not busy. Only issue is the water they gave us, i think they didn't rinse the bottle well. We can taste the soap. But, we ended up ordering some smoothie and matcha.
I was looking for something to eat outside the casino and found this on Yelp. The patrons were all Chinese so I had high expectations. I tried their beef brisket noodles (because that's what Taiwan is known for) and the brisket was very tender. The noodles were bouncy and had a good bite to them. I wish there were more greens in the soup. The tomato and beef noodles were delicious! It was sweet, savory, and had a good tang. There beef rolls had carrots and cucumbers in them which gave a great contrast to the richness of the beef. Definitely recommend. 9/10.

Located right near the casinos in an unassuming plaza, 101 Taiwanese Cuisine would be easy to miss. However, the food is amazing, and you would do well to try it out! Inside, there're Chinese menu items all along the wall, with a nice and intimate vibe. The server was nice, and we were seated quickly. I got the build your own combo with popcorn chicken and the beef noodle soup. Everything in the combo was tasty, but I do wish that the vegetables were unsalted, since everything else has a very strong flavor. I would definitely go again!
Loved the food here! It was really crowded but the staff was managing well! The best thing is that they offer discounts to UNR students! The food is tasty, quality is amazing and quantity is good as well!
I had such high hopes for this place, and we ordered a lot of different dishes to try. There was a long line to eat here, so I really thought the food would be amazing. Unfortunately, the flavors were quite different from what I expected. The food wasn't bad, but it tasted different from what I'm used to. The popcorn chicken was more on the sweet side rather than savory. The fried rice was okay but not very flavorful. The zha jiang mian was also sweeter than expected. Usually the ones I've had in Asia are very savory. I've even had zha jiang mian in Alameda, California, and that version was savory, not sweet at all. At one point my husband even wondered if they might have accidentally used sugar instead of salt. The mapo tofu was also a bit too sweet. The best one was the beef noodle soup. That was 7/10 it was my favorite out of all. In general, we didn't enjoy the food very much. The service was okay. I understand they were very busy, so it's understandable. The restaurant itself is clean but extremely packed and busy.
The food was really good. I chose the shrimp fried rice which was flavorful and my partner chose the pork with green beans. I really liked that the pork was small and the green beans were well cooked. I also tried scallion pancakes for the first time and really liked them, they were crispy and flaky. Service was fast and friendly. Seating is tight but it has cute vibes.

Service was fast and friendly, and the food came out quickly. Overall a solid spot and definitely worth checking out if you're craving comfort food done right.
My favorite Taiwanese restaurant in town, the food is great and authentic, paired with boba tea makes it even better! The staff is really nice and helpful, always stay on top of things.
As a Bay Area native, I can say this def did not do it for us. Service initially was ok, as we were the second party to enter upon opening at 4:30 pm. We were seated and given water and perused their menu. After our order was taken and food was brought to us, no one ever checked on us and food was average at best and greasy. In order to pay for our dinner, I had to go to the front counter and flag someone down. Restaurant was clean and seating was okay. There are def better places to eat in the Reno area so I don't know how they even get 3 stars. Items ordered: Lychee tea with 25% sweet x2- average Fish congee- Texture was too thick and it did not have any flavor. They also put corn in this and it would have been fine had the corn had any flavor. Bland corn is def not gonna work. Wonton noodle soup- bland and too much white pepper but amount of wontons given were good and plenty of bean sprouts (which is not usually included in wonton noodle soup). Scallion pancake- way too greasy Popcorn chicken- was just okay and at least it was crispy Garlic noodles- Average and too greasy Salt and pepper pork chops without spice- Another greasy dish but at least it tasted like 5 spice Pan fried pork buns- Where do I even start with this mess?! Def not what we were used to. They were not crispy on the bottom, meat filling was dry and bland. Ended up with indigestion from the grease.
Taiwanese eatery with plenty of options to choose from, starting with snacks, appetizers, drinks, noodles, to rice plates and stir fry dishes. We came by with a party of 4 on a friday night, they had a lot of options with great choices for combinations/BYO sets. Customer service is overall friendly, and quick. The food comes out super fast, so most of the dishes are prepped in advance. While the variety is great and service is quick, the quality of the food is not as amazing. We ordered a lot of food ranging from their taiwanese pig intestine/oyster noodle soup, to the sets with the braised beef noodle soup. Salt and pepper chicken wings, popcorn chicken, boba milk tea, chicken cutlets, minced pork over noodles and even garlic vegetable stir fry. Great spread of food, but the taste individually was just okay. The taiwanese noodles are a famous and iconic dish, but the soup and noodles were too clumpy, i can still see bits and small lumps of the cornstarch. The taste was a bit on the more tart/sour side in comparison to it being more savory. We were looking forward to it a lot, but was kind of let down. The braised beef noodle soup wasn't bad, the noodles had a great texture, beef was okay, but the portion was kind of small, a lot of soup though, it was great for the colder weather. The chicken wings were a major let down. The chicken themselves were very bland, while crispy, there was no taste to it inside or out, it was as if they were never marinaded or seasoned. And for some reason it had a very gamey taste to it. It came with a lot of peppers, onions, and garlic, which were great additions but the chicken itself were very disappointing and we couldn't finish it. The chicken cutlet was okay, it was juicy, but a lot of breading over it, and for some reason that same tart/sourness came from the chicken. I didn't get a stomachache afterwards but it definitely tasted weird. I wonder if it was from the 5-spice seasoning but it was definitely more tart and pungent than what I am normally used it. The mined pork over noodles were also kind of a let down, I was looking forward to more of a braised pork/zha jian mian/dan dan mian type of dish but there wasn't that great of a taste to it. Just tasted like soy stir fry pork over noodles with chili oil. It was bland and not what we were looking for. Honorable mention, the milk teas tasted like a dessert, so it was a treat! The pickled vegetables that came with the sets of dishes were great, very refreshing and had a good balance of sour and salty to it. The soy boiled eggs were good too. The sides were great, but the main dishes we ordered were just not what we were expecting. The food is definitely edible, and maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes or we came on an off day, but we would only come back if it was the only place open or closest to our stay.

Pretty solid! What drew me in was the Beef Pancake, this is the first I'm seeing that in Reno so I had to come check it out. Service here was pretty great and the food was very tasty, the beef pancake filled the void that I needed that's for sure. I only had a couple appetizers then left, I'd love to come back and see what else they have to offer, menu looks really fun. read more

Located just off Downtown Reno, this spot is perfect for a comforting bowl of noodle soup right after landing in the city. Parking is limited but there are a few free spaces in the plaza. I went with the Shrimp & Pork Noodle on the order taker's recommendation, and it did not disappoint. My husband had the braised pork belly rice--tender meat with a nice bit of gravy soaking into the rice. We also tried the Wine Chicken Roll. It wasn't my favorite, but that's just personal preference. The staff were incredibly helpful, walking us through the menu and suggesting dishes based on what we like. It's a cozy place overall, with comfortable seating whether at a booth or at a regular table. read more
The Braised Beef Noodle Soup was well-seasoned, fresh, and came in a generous portion. Our server, Kate, was friendly, attentive, and delivered our food quickly. The dining area was clean, and the gender-neutral single restroom was also well maintained. The Chinese/Taiwanese décor sets a nice theme. The noise level was a bit above average, and the tables are fairly close together, but there's still enough space to move through comfortably. They offer a large selection of entrées and appetizers, and the food quality and portion sizes were well worth the price. We had a party of six and didn't wait long for a table--pretty impressive for a Friday night. All of our orders arrived quickly and accurately, and parking in the back was plentiful. If you're craving REAL Taiwanese comfort food in Reno, run, don't walk to 101 Taiwanese Cuisine. This place is the definition of a hidden gem -- the kind of spot where the food tastes like someone's grandma is in the kitchen cooking with love... and maybe yelling at you to eat more. We ordered a full spread and every single dish slapped: Beef Noodle Soup - Rich broth, super tender beef, perfectly chewy noodles. Honestly one of the best versions I've had outside of Taiwan. Zha Jiang Noodles - Savory, saucy, addictive. I kept telling myself "just one more bite," and we all know how that ends. Braised Pork Rice (Lu Rou Fan) - Melt-in-your-mouth pork, pickled veggies, and that soft egg... chef's kiss. Scallion Pancake Beef Roll - Crispy outside, juicy inside. If you know, you know. Everything tasted homemade, comforting, and absolutely legit. The menu even says "Not Your Ordinary Chinese Food," and they mean it -- this is true Taiwanese street-food flavor. If you want something flavorful, cozy, and delicious, this is the spot. Easily the best Taiwanese cuisine in Reno. Already planning my next trip back! read more
There is something so satisfying about a table that is literally full of plates of good food. Not every dish is 10/10 but everything is at least 7.5/10. This trip we ordered Shrimp Bali, Popcorn Chicken, Mixed Meat Bali Soup, Taiwan Sweet Sausage, Wontons, Pork Belly and Salted Beef and 2 full doggy bags for tomorrow. If you like Taiwanese Food, put this place on your list. Service is hit and miss when it is super busy, but they are always nice and full of smiles. It is bigger than it looks from outside. There is pleasing music playing in the background. Parking is tight but there is lots of street parking. It can get crowded and a bit noisy during peak times, which tells you how good the food is. read more

Ordered delivery from 101 Taiwanese. Great food, served hot with all the sauces, utensils, and napkins needed. They have fantastic fried rice and their scallion pancakes are to die for. Good traditional chicken dishes and egg rolls as well, I like their spicy basil chicken. read more
Smaller portions then I remember. It wasn't crazy busy like I remember either. Everything was good, but I didn't care for the spongy chicken in the green beans or the pineapple in the fried rice. We ordered more than we could finish wanting to try several items we hadn't tried before. I still prefer the beef roll and onion pancake. We've planned a day trip out to Reno from Sac in the past to eat here, but probably won't be doing that again. read more
I friggin LOVE this place. We order it a lot on door dash but man, their food ALWAYS hits. I've never had something I didn't like or was disappointed in. Please come check this place out! Everything we ordered brought something special to the table. This spot nails Taiwanese comfort food with intensity and heart. The Beef Combination Appetizer Platter came with tender beef shank, chewy tofu skin, crunchy pickled cucumber, cabbage, and a drizzle of savory sauce. A great starter with layers of flavor and texture, perfect for sharing. The Fried Pork Intestine was unexpectedly addictive, crispy, rich, and full of umami. Not for the faint of heart, but absolutely worth it if you're adventurous. The Popcorn Chicken delivered the classic Taiwanese night market flavor, crispy, seasoned, and served hot with fragrant basil leaves. The Drunken Chicken was cold, silky, and delicately infused with rice wine. Clean-tasting and refreshing between bites of the richer dishes. The Beef Pancake Roll was flaky, warm, and generously filled with tender beef and scallions. One of the best we've had. Quick service, generous portions, and food that feels like home or a trip to a Taiwanese street stall. I'd happily come back for the beef noodle soup next time! read more
They are open on the 4th of July! If you're hungry and want Great Food this is the place! We ordered Curry Chicken and Rice, Taiwanese Mustard Vegetables, Wonton in Chili Oil. The food comes out fast and everything was delicious! We ate everything! We will definitely make coming here a good habit. read more
hello first time, plenty of parking and overflow can be busy for lunch and dinner and parking customer service was on point, the lady was nice to pack everything up to go, appreciate that. plenty of food in bulk, will have leftovers if you order like the pictures basil clam: good, but not a lot of clams, sauce was good with white steamed rice wonton in chili oil: great and spicy the combos were a deal with tons of variety, best choice where you can have a bit of everything beef pancake was my favorite, crunchy, and soft/warm on the inside packed with protein worth the try and spot to go clean restaurant and great service read more
This used to be my favorite spot in town, but something changed recently. Food came out a little too quickly as soon as we ordered, which made me wonder if it wasn't made fresh, since food wasn't hot, rather room temperature. Also, food tasted very stale, which only solidified my worries that food wasn't made fresh to order. read more

Consistently good and quick, freshly made food. Popcorn chicken, baby bok choy and rice was the perfect quick meal. The popcorn chicken was well flavored - not too salty or spicy, well fried with basil. Service is efficient and helpful, we were out of there within 30 minutes! Ambiance is clean and simple- nothing fancy, just good food and reliable service. read more

In town for basketball tournament. Recommended by one of the teammate's parents. Greeted upon arrival. Saw lots of other basketball families, so news must spread quickly. Didn't want to order too much food, so we settled on braised beef noodle soup and beef wrapped pancake. The soup was rich and flavorful. Lots of beef chunks. Thick noodle. The pancake was absolutely delicious. Filled with carrots and cilantro. Tasted fresh, contrasted by crispy texture of the pancake. Kate was our server. Helpful with ordering and speedy service. My experience here was great! I got to try out thier general chicken and fried tofu it was really good and for the drinks I had tai tea. The servers where cool and patient with me I was overwhelmed with how many options they have for food. Ambiance is great I do like how it looks indoors it feels like im in a different place a small escape from town! read more
Tonight was a disaster! I ordered delivery, so no points taken off for that (he was quick!). I ordered potstickers for an appetizer. Guess what, they weren't sticky at all! They were boiled and had no crisp whatsoever. My entrée was the Black pepper Pork Chop. Honestly, it was ok, but not worth the price I paid. I assumed it would have been cut off the bone so that I could eat it with a fork or chop sticks. Alas, I had to fish the bones out of my pork chop. Weird. It looks good on the plate, but as they say, an image is worth 1,000 words. This image doesn't do it justice. I can't finish this plate. read more
