We have stayed at Moon Palace twice. Once in November of 2024 and again in November of 2025. Please note that this review will be focused specifically on our 2025 visit as when we visited in 2024 we were guests of members so our accessibility and experience was slightly different. We landed and grabbed our bags. Found the Palace transportation quickly and we only waited about 25-20 minutes for our bus/van to arrive. The hotel is only about 10 minutes from the airport which is really nice. Check in was easy. We took advantage of the digital pre check- in using the app and it certainly seemed like a smooth and quick check in. We were greeted with fresh flowers and they gave the kids gummy bears which was a nice gesture. The staff was very friendly and courteous. We were offered an upgrade to ocean front. Using the voucher, we did not have an option of choosing anything but garden view so it was nice to have the upgrade offered. It did come with a price tag though. I am not sure if it was really a deal, but we opted for the upgraded view because it is nice to see the ocean at night from your balcony once the kids are asleep. It was kind of annoying to be hit up for a significant chunk of change right off the cuff, but we could have declined if we wanted to. I just thought that being a return guest might have bought us some brownie points and maybe we could have scored a free upgrade - but no such luck lol. Our upgraded room wouldn't be available until the next day so we had to move on our second day but that wasn't the end of the world. The upgraded room was worth the wait. We loved the corner balcony and the view was beautiful. The balconies are small. As are the rooms. But we were able to fit two roll away beds in addition to our king, so I guess it's big enough to sleep in, and who is really spending that much time in their room anyway. The room was clean, and housekeeping was consistent. They would read our notes and leave anything we asked for accordingly. Make sure you tip housekeeping! They really do deserve it. Our favorite place for breakfast is the nizuc buffet. We loved our server, Humberto and asked for him every day. He just elevated our experience and would bring our daughters strawberries as he knew they loved them and they weren't available at the buffet. He did not have to do that and I thought he was very thoughtful to do so. Our favorite dinner was at Pier 8 over at sunrise. We thought the service and food were elevated. We also enjoyed the Brazilian steakhouse. Make sure you are hungry for that one! The Mexican restaurant at the golf course is also fantastic. A very authentic experience and a must do. We typically just ate lunch at the pool. Our servers were fantastic and our drinks were never empty. Poolside food was great especially for the kids. The ceviche was awesome for a lighter option and the kids loved the pizza and chicken wings. The shows were all fantastic. We really enjoyed the Fuego show and Sebastian the magician. The Nizuc lobby ice cream and crepes are also a must try. Such a fun treat at any time of the day. We did get day passes to the Grand after agreeing to attend the presentation. Thankfully we had friends that offered to watch our kids this year as I was very disappointed in the childcare offered when we attended the presentation in 2024. Our toddler had obviously been crying the entire time and I was irritated that someone did not come get me to let me know. We did enjoy the water park for the day and the tacos at Los tacos were incredible. We also had dinner at the Circus restaurant at The Grand and of course the kids loved that. The food is fine for adults but it's really about the show. The biggest let down of the resort is the beach. This is completely out of the hotel's control though. You can't can't compete with Mother Nature and her seaweed. The heavy machinery is an eye sore but they are there to make the beach as nice as possible given the circumstances. But the pools are so incredible, it's really not a big deal. I can't say enough good things about the Dreamery team. The poolside activities for the kids are awesome. The staff love engaging with the kids. Definitely recommend the princess spa at the golf course if you have little girls! I know people are apprehensive to travel to Mexico but I honestly feel perfectly safe here, especially within the resort itself. I do plan on returning and I'll be curious how we are treated as a returning guest for a third time. Our experience is always great but I did get turned off by a couple of things here and there. I want to try this resort one more time to see how it goes and I will then make a final determination on my future with Moon. We obviously do enjoy this place, especially for the kids, as we keep coming back. I would recommend this resort for families. But we shall see what I think at our next visit. Stay tuned for my follow up review after our next visit.

SO i cannot understand why anybody would have a bad experience here, but seriously look in to the resorts beforehand...they all vary in treatment. IN MY OPINION! this is a 3 star place at best but i am giving them a huge 5 star review for a number of reason: let's start with the staff: These people are the kindest and sweet folks on the planet. They were aware we were there with our team, so we had a lot of our own props, fixtures and equipment in their building. We got just about every single request we asked for fulfilled including cleaning the rooms and room service in a timely manner. I saw so many people cleaning, helping us with questions and providing assistance to whomever needed it when requested. moving on to the food & drinks: it was 3 star quality food but considering it's all you can eat for 3+ days i had my body weight in complimentary guacamole and tequila. do yourself a favor and ask for what you want! they accommodated just about everyone's allergies, medical needs and water every chance we could get someone. my team had our own sun lotion station and hydration areas but they resort was helpful the entire time. I know it is often frowned upon, but i (specially me) tipped just about anybody i could in USD and i felt like i got extra special treatment because of it. I had as much tequila as legally allowed and i even went to the gift shop and bought more to take home...and also at the airport! lol the reason i am here: my work sponsors a festival type experience on their grounds. there is a massive stage in the back of some of the suites and it offers a musical offering on top of the inclusive resort amenities. i paid for my flight but they covered just about everything else. There was security guards, maintenance staff, shuttle carts and hydration station throughout. again between the party and the venue we had a ball. the downside: it was not as clean as i would like to hope. but considering this is one of the first hotels right off the airport it's probably inundated with guests so often they can't keep up. we were given the chance to walk the beach and clean up our own trash and things and we did just that! we also noticed certain areas of the beach had seaweed along them so it was encouraged to stay in the heated pools rather than the open waters. like i get it, you want to go to the beach but most of the complaints come from folks who don't seem to notice these beaches are always covered in something besides sand. given the chance for pool side bar service...i'm going with the pool! will i ever come back? absolutely! This venue is great for small parties and the occasional girls/boys/gals/gents/folks weekend getaway. i do not recommend this location for weddings, large parties or families who can't just enjoy the small tokens of a nice little oasis. there are plenty of other venues to choose from that offer lavish updated...MORE EXPENSIVE experiences. if you've been to resorts with greater aspects than this one i would highly recommend skipping this location to get a better vacation/trip overall. also you can avoid the timeshare folks. just tell them 'no'.

So my friends and I went to our friends sister destination wedding. And I am really happy to say that we really enjoyed our time there! We stayed at the Sunrise Resort, its so massive with so many food options, friendly customer service and great vibes! The only problem we had was there was a mix up with our rooms and they didn't really solve our issue as well as the place were were saying at had ocean view (ish) but every time we stepped up on the balcony it smelled like rotten eggs due to the ocean. I would for sure though go back and the wedding itself was done very well :)

Moon Palace was an amazing trip. We were actually in Ocho Rios and the resort was a very convenient size for a family group of six. Accommodations were really nice. Top level service at all the restaurants. Pretty decent selection of top shelf booze by the pool areas. Pool, and beach are easily accessible. Booked excursions to Dunn river falls, the Blue hole, zip lining and rafting, All executions wear no more than an hour out so it was very convenient . Staff was friendly and did a good job addressing any concerns or questions. They have a very impressive spa. You will definitely feel like you are getting the royal treatment. This trip was an all around memorable and successful vacation for R&R. Moon palace are building everywhere but this Ocho Rios Location is in a prime area. Please note the ride from the airport to Ocho Rios can be really pong depending on traffic. That is the only drawback.

TRAVELER WARNING -- SERIOUS ILLNESS AT THIS RESORT A member of our group was hospitalized after contracting two confirmed parasitic infections -- Blastocystis Hominis and Entamoeba Histolytica -- within 48 hours of arrival at Moon Palace Cancun Sunrise. She had zero symptoms before arriving and consumed exclusively resort food and water. Amerimed Hospital lab results confirmed active infection with uncountable red blood cells and visible blood -- she required emergency medical care and a 5-day antibiotic regimen. Her entire vacation was destroyed. She was confined to her room, unable to eat, drink, or participate in any resort activities she paid for. Entamoeba Histolytica is one of the deadliest parasites in the world -- responsible for 100,000 deaths annually. It is classified by the CDC as extremely rare in the United States and is primarily endemic to tropical regions and developing countries. Our guest is a healthy resident of San Francisco with no prior travel history that would explain this infection. This parasite was contracted here. When we reported this to the resort, management (Alfredo Barrera, Public Relations Manager) refused to provide us with a copy of the incident report and suggested she may have arrived with the infection -- a claim directly contradicted by the medical evidence, her US residency, and the CDC's own classification of this parasite as rare in America. We have filed a formal complaint with Palace Resorts corporate. We are sharing this so other travelers can make an informed decision. If you or anyone in your group is immunocompromised, elderly, pregnant, or traveling with children -- please be aware.

This was the first all inclusive resort I have been to that included alcohol. I have mixed emotions. I had the best vacation ever but there were expensive last minute fees. Makeup and hair was way more expensive than I would have paid for in California and my lady here is pretty pricey. Room service took over two hours to arrive, most of the time we would miss our food because we couldn't wait for it anymore. The bride told us that there were add on fees for things that I do agree should have been included in the final price, for example: they sold her the fire show for her guests, the venue added on last minute extra fees for a sound system that the show needed like wouldn't you think that should be included in the fire show? When we tried getting into the other clubs, we couldn't enter even though it looked dead and we would have been the party. But with all the extra fees, it was an absolute beautiful wedding and vacation. I had the time of my life with amazing people and I rave about this week of my life. Everyone here was very nice and felt so smooth. We loved the spa!

If you're considering staying here, save yourself the frustration and keep looking. This was easily THE WORST resort experiences I've had, and I've traveled extensively, including 6 times in Mexico. It started early in the trip when I politely messaged through the resort app to share that our ocean-view room was completely unusable due to a horrific septic stench. We couldn't even sit on the balcony we paid extra for it was that strong. I messaged on the app and was greeted by Axel, who was initially responsive, until I brought up my concerns. Then suddenly... my messaging feature was turned off. Yep. I was completely blocked from contacting the front desk or support through the app. The timing felt very retaliatory and petty. That same day, our room was never cleaned despite requesting housekeeping. I had to call down just to ask for water and towels to be delivered, which never showed up either. When I went to the front desk the next day to follow up, I was met by Carlo, who was stone cold and clearly irritated. He barely acknowledged me, said there was "nothing he could do," and told me I had to go to public relations or write a letter to the travel agency. I also found a $25 "no-show" charge for a dinner reservation I never made, which Carlo eventually removed after I pushed, but again, no explanation and zero apology. Let's talk about the actual property: the beach is a joke. If you're looking for tropical turquoise water and beach loungers by the shore, this is NOT it. The water was brown, churning with seaweed every single day. There were no loungers, just mounds of sand and seaweed. The red flag was up the entire time. It looked and smelled nothing like a relaxing beach escape. Even the pool area was poorly maintained, broken tiles, trash floating in the water, and debris everywhere. Maintenance equipment like hoses, tarps, and tools were left out in plain view during the day. Trash cups were left sitting around for hours, and overall the place just felt neglected and not guest-ready. This resort lacks not just attention to detail, but basic hospitality. Between the gaslighting, lack of accountability, poor conditions, and aggressive sales tactics, I wouldn't come back here if the trip were free. I've stayed at many resorts throughout Mexico, and this one stands out for all the WRONG reasons. And finally let's talk about the relentless sales culture. Upon check-in, you'll be pressured to attend a 90-minute "presentation" in exchange for day passes to their Grand resort that includes a waterpark. Even if you decline, as we did, expect to be called repeatedly throughout your stay. We were firm, said no multiple times, and they still kept calling. If you choose to stay here, just be prepared to deal with the busiest and most persistent salespeople you've ever met. Then came checkout, and the icing on this chaotic cake: a pushy resort rep would not leave us alone about booking a promotional deal to come back. I told her we had a terrible experience and were absolutely not interested. She kept going. I told her my type 1 diabetic husband was experiencing a hypoglycemic episode and we needed to get sugar for him, and she still kept pushing, even getting on the escalator with us as we tried to leave. I finally had to say, "With all due respect, my family is leaving now and we're not interested in any of your franchises." She rolled her eyes and walked away. Such a disappointment - BEWARE!!!

I'm writing this review in hopes that hotel management will address these issues publicly, because my experience so far has been extremely disappointing and far below what this resort advertises. After arriving from a five-hour flight, I was met with an unprofessional and unhelpful check-in experience. The front desk employee whose name started with "L" showed little interest in resolving concerns or providing proper assistance, which set a very negative tone from the beginning. The operational issues here are also unacceptable for a resort at this price point. The elevators were barely functioning, and I waited roughly 45 minutes just to get to my room while completely exhausted from travel. That level of inconvenience should not happen at a supposed luxury property. Additionally, the room I received was marketed as an ocean-view room, yet the actual view only shows a very small portion of the ocean -- maybe 10% at best. This feels extremely misleading and does not match what was promised at booking. Considering the premium rates charged, the value simply isn't there. I am requesting that management publicly address: 1. Why guests are being sold "ocean view" rooms that do not meet reasonable expectations. 2. What is being done to fix elevator reliability. 3. How staff training and professionalism at the front desk will be improved. I hope someone from management takes this seriously and responds, because at the moment the experience feels overpriced, frustrating, and far from the level of service this resort claims to provide.

We stayed at the Grand and it was amazing! Some of the food places weren't the best, but it is truly hard to give this place any lower (maybe a 4.5). The outdoor area is amazing and there is so many places to explore, in a week we still didn't visit everywhere. I will say that the Grand was much better than the other two resorts and I would recommend spending the extra money! Overall, would go again.

In late September, I had the chance to stay at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun while covering an event. The experience was nothing short of luxurious, though not without its quirks. My room was in the Pineapple building (#3326), featuring a Jacuzzi, a walk-in shower, a king-sized bed, and a stunning view. The all-inclusive package gave me unlimited access to room service, which meant I could enjoy a steady flow of delicious food without ever leaving my suite. The steak, nachos, burritos, tacos, and desserts (including mousse and tarts) were all top-tier, showcasing flavors I didn't expect from standard room service. Even the most basic items, like soda or ketchup, seemed to taste better here. The resort itself is beautiful. Walking along the beach offers a scenic experience, though it's clear that swimming isn't the main attraction due to boats and construction in the area. I didn't get to explore the luxurious restaurants, but the variety of cuisine options, from Italian to Indian, means you'd be hard-pressed to go hungry. Entertainment was a highlight--I got to see Snoop Dogg perform, which added a Caribbean flair to the overall vibe. The resort's offerings for families, like mini-golf and pools for children, make it inclusive for all types of travelers. However, a couple of downsides are worth noting. First, the hurricane season interrupted my plans for exploring Cancun's coastal region. With back-to-back hurricanes, outdoor activities were cut short. Second, the room's flooring posed a safety hazard when wet. After using the Jacuzzi, I noticed there wasn't a proper drain near it, leading to a slippery situation that could've been avoided with better design. This trip, my first outside the U.S., left me with a mix of awe and reflection. Despite the weather setbacks, I thoroughly enjoyed the high-quality amenities and friendly staff. English fluency among the employees was impressive, and their welcoming attitude added to the overall experience. If I had paid for this trip, I estimate the cost for three nights with all-inclusive services at the Pineapple building to be around $1,500 to $2,000, depending on the season and deals. While the resort didn't offer everything I wanted due to the hurricanes, it still gave me a glimpse into the kind of experience many dream of for a honeymoon or a special getaway. If given another opportunity, I'd gladly return--though I'd plan for a season with better weather.

DO NOT STAY HERE I GOT EXTREMELY ILL FROM THE FOOD AND THE RESORT WAS NOT HELPFUL. If I could rate 0 I would!! Just got back from a 7 night stay here with my family . During my stay I ended up hospitalized and extremely ill. At the hospital I tested positive for 2 parasites. When i was well enough to speak to public relations they said that I must have brought the parasites from home and they would do nothing to take any responsibility. Both of these parasites live in tropical climates and are extremely rare in the United States. The resort sent me to a shady hospital where they tried to scam me out of $4000. I could not eat or drink anything but bland food and no alcohol for the remainder of the trip and they refused to even reverse my all inclusive....0 customer service or help with anything. They have even refused to give me a copy of the incident report which is very strange behavior I have never felt so sick in my entire life and was overall a horrible experience. if you care about your health or the health of the those you love pick a different resort with clean food!

My first time experiencing an all inclusive resort and it was the relaxing and fun. Literally eat, swim, sleep and repeat. The weather for our stay for the week was beautiful and in the mid 80s. Staff were very friendly. We were at the Sunrise location and stayed in the building called Chile. We were on the bottom floor and really close to the pool. The pool water is warm. The pool isn't deep. You can swim up to the bar grab a drink. We went during early February so it was there slower time. There were plenty of lounge chairs with umbrellas for shade and tables for your drinks.. Servers come around very often to get food or drink orders. We mostly soaked up the sun and hung out in the pool mostly. Plenty of restaurants to try that covers all the food categories: american, Asian, Indian, Italian. They have an app to make reservations. There are buffets and a 24 hr Cafe that serves ice cream, coffee/beverages, deli sandwiches/subs, macaroons, chocolates, crepes, small assortment of bakery items that change daily. All food and drinks are inclusive. Just be sure to be nice and tip. The room we had king size bed, large bathtub/hot tub with bubbles, has a spacious stand up shower with shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Complimentary Toiletries I found you can get shaving cream, razor, toothbrush, etc through the app. Fridge is stocked with pop, juice, and beer. Alcohol dispensary next to the mini fridge. Our friend had left a note for a specific beer and tip for the cleaning lady and he got that beer filled everyday during our stay. The rooms get cleaned multiple times throughout the day. There is a safe in the closet to keep your important stuff in it. Lots of events for kids and adults throughout the day. Such as face painting, water balloon fight, sand castle building, and bubble machine for the kids. For adults there were Volleyball, water aerobics, pool party, water pool, and more. Also for adults they have workout event in the mornings. There is a show every day after dinner. We got to see the flame show and glow night show. We didn't do any excursions, since we wanted to relax at the resort. We did get complimentary mani, pedi, and 25 min massage. We applied resort credits to get a facial. Be sure to take advantage of the hydro shower and hot tub at the spa. We didn't know so we missed out on trying it after our massage and facial. I advise to get there 30 min before your appt to check in, change, and explore around. To get around you can walk or use their complimentary golf cart service. Definitely recommend staying at Sunrise moon palace for a nice getaway and relax.

WARNING!!!! This area has a problem with algae and it makes the ocean unswimmable. They put up red flags as a warning and it's supposed to be around all summer. The smell on the beach is awful from it too. You will only be able to enjoy the pool and will have to stay out of the ocean: Now for the positives, the staff is top notch and the food is excellent. Nightly shows are very good also. Obviously the beach is a deal breaker and I wish I would have known ahead of time. You come to Mexico to play on the beach and it's a complete disappointment. Have an excursion booked through the hotel for 7-15-21. Receipt says pickup at 6:30am. We woke up at 5:15am had our box lunches and patiently waited for the shuttle that never showed. The Moon palace excursion gave us the wrong pickup time by two hours. We missed out on sleeping in and the buffet breakfast verses our box lunches. We also missed the night show because we went to bed early so we would not be late. The hotel did offer us a whopping 10% off the excursion smh. read more

Honestly going to this hotel thinking it was gonna be a 5 Star Hotel it really isn't anything of that sort I've been to way Nicer in Cancun the overall ambiance of the hotel is nice but the Marble Floors are extremely slippery to the point where you really have to watch how you step when raining outside including the Rooms Lobby's Hallways. Now the restaurants were absolutely horrible From Habibi, which I'm middle eastern descent, The buffet and to top it off The room service food was horrendous not mention me and my family and friends got horrible food poisoning Vomiting and Diarrhea....only good was the Oreos that are in the room and coke to drink.. when ordering stuff from service like Towels and other stuff it takes over a 1 hour to bring it and most times they forget.. if someone was to tell me where should I stay in Cancun I will definitely remind someone stay away from the Moon Palace the Grand. I really didn't think I'd have such a horrible experience and definitely wasn't cheap.... read more

Just got home from an awesome vacation for Luke Bryan's Crash My Playa! Service is exceptional here and they really do go over for everyone, especially all of us wild ones! They hosted over 6000 people for CMP and had everything perfect! The sand at the beach is soft and most people attending the concerts went barefoot! The pool time was a smidge crowded, but we all knew this going in. The resort is massive, so I was glad they were able to keep golf carts literally everywhere to transport after too much tequila (it's Mexico lol so it happens!) Looking forward to next years CMP and to be able to splurge and stay at the Grand part of the resort! read more

You can eat/drink as much as you like, but the restaurants are closed for large parts of the day. Drinks can be found at anytime, and you can stuff your face with pastries and candies etc, all day long, but it gets pretty monotonous after awhile. My main gripes are that although the facilities and amenities are nice, the deals they offer are not nearly as good as advertised and sometimes they lie. We bought an "all inclusive" package that was supposed to cover all food, drinks, amenities and activities. It covered food and drinks, but not activities. Airport shuttles were advertised as free. They are not. They will cost you $70 if you take a taxi, $45 if you take an airport shuttle (private company you can find online.) Do NOT go to the time share presentation. They say 90 minutes, but you end up wasting about 3 hrs, even if you try to cut to the chase and say no to their offer. We had ro say no to the first guy 3x, then once more to each of two other sales guys before they let us go. We were promised $500 hotel credit that was good anywhere in the hotel. Instead we got $500 credit only good at gift shops, and only for specific items. And if you decide to buy those items with the credit, you still have to pay a 16% tax, which you cannot pay for with the $500 credit. And they will continue to try to sell you time share contracts all the way past the time wharn you check out. read more

Worse welcome and customer service ever experience. They are so down right rude, and really got it wrong. Saul at the front desk today 7-21-23 was the rudest of all. I can't believe they let staff like him work at the front desk. Elizabeth in VIP was no better. This place is not cheap and I will make sure I spend my money somewhere else. I suggest everyone do the same. read more

I really wanted to give this a 5 star rating because I CANNOT brag enough about the customer service. I have seen so many bad reviews about wait time and customer service. While they might be understaffed, the employees hustle and work so hard. I've always said that Mexico has the best hospitality, and it was no exception at this resort. I would definitely say to take cash because they deserve all of the tips. We stayed at Sunrise in a swim up suit which was beautiful. Our room also had a nice jacuzzi. The food was exceptional at all of the restaurants. My favorite was the Italian restaurant, La Gandola. The pools were awesome as well. The nighttime entertainment was great. I will say, if you're looking for pretty beaches don't go there. The beaches were worse than the ones in Texas (if you never been, google them). If you stay at Sunrise, you can go to Nizuc as well. You can get a day pass to The Grand, however I will say while it's super nice, it's also too busy. It felt like we were in Vegas almost. There is just too much going on there, but if you can visit I would just to say you did. There are a lot of families at this resort, so if you're looking for a more quite atmosphere, I wouldn't recommend, however, we enjoyed it. The reason I gave 4 stars is because we walked away with bed bug bites down our lower back. While the beds are comfortable, the bites are unpleasant. I have to give customer service shout outs. These people were amazing. Adrian and Edgar- at the pool bar at Sunrise Lazaro- Arricefes at Nizuc Rose- La Gandola at Sunrise Cheers!! read more
THE GOOD- Rooms and resort grounds were clean and well maintained. Toiletries were large-sized C.H.I. products (minus the conditioner), and lasted the whole week of our stay, reducing waste. Decor was beautiful and modern. The restaurant/buffet wait staff were courteous and friendly, some of them going out of their way to please their guests, thus the one star. THE BAD - The first thing that hits you as you walk into the resort is the intensely strong scent that permeates the lobby and connecting areas. It makes you wonder what they are trying to hide by masking the resort with an all powerful and nauseating scent? The food was subpar: Fruit oftentimes were mushy or appeared dry or bruised, indicating that it was not fresh. The bread and pastries were stale. Although there was some variety in food choices, the quality was lacking, using cheap cuts of meat and fish. Food in the specialty restaurants was passable but nothing to rave about and while the food generally looked good, the taste left a lot to be desired. The only thing that stuck out that was actually good was the flank steak cut at the Brazilian Steakhouse, Arrecifes, mostly because it was smoky, tender, and surprisingly flavorful. Resort entertainment was sparse. They had some pool activities and one planned nightly show in the Nizuc and Sunrise sections of the resort but the schedule was not adhered to. We tried to go to a couple of shows/activities planned but they were non existent and management did not notify their guests of any cancellations. No sign. no announcement. No nothing. The beach was disappointing, water was murky and filled with seaweed. A tractor would clear up the line of seaweed that washed ashore but it was futile, as an hour later the seaweed would return in full force. THE UGLY- Management is downright terrible. They are only concerned with the bottom dollar. We were notified 2 weeks prior to our trip that our booking at the Grand could not be accommodated because the renovation of the Grand section of MP was not complete. They offered to put us in the Nizuc section and give us a certificate for a return stay. MP engages in bait and switch fraudulent bookings of a resort that they know they are not able to honor. A certificate good for return stay is a joke because it requires coming back to the same place that committed the fraud- it is an unacceptable restitution, and doesn't constitute a remedy. But we couldn't change our plans at this late stage; we had no choice but to accept. From the moment we arrived, management continually made our vacation a nightmare. Our prebooked and prepaid transportation was not ready, having to wait an extra hour for it to arrive. The resort is only a 10 min. drive from the airport. Go figure! Upon check-in, management again tried a bait and switch tactic with our rooms. We spent another hour forcibly demanding we get the rooms we paid for. Unbelievable! We were reminded during check in to come back the next day to receive our return certificate. I even got an 8am wake up call reminding me to stop by front desk to get our certificates. However, taking time away from our vacation time, we stopped by not only the next morning but several days after check-in only to be repeatedly told they were not available. The audacity of these people! They want to appear helpful and concerned about their guests but they kept making things worse. Another bait and switch was the $1500 resort credit we were given however there were many strings attached. We were told that we could only use certain amounts for certain categories and everything would be assessed a 16% tax. For example, if we wanted to book excursions, we could only use $50 for a certain excursion and pay the rest out of pocket along with 16% tax on top. Needless to say we were not able to use most of the so called "credit" save for nearly $300 for a Swedish massage at the spa, which was grossly overpriced to begin with. 3 factors that elicit a repeat visit can be deduced by the quality of the food/drinks, service level and entertainment. MP failed in all 3 categories. They employ shady tactics and solicit bookings for a resort that isn't completed, yet still charging a premium. I booked this based on the countless high reviews but people need to stop giving this resort the false "credit" it does not deserve. It touts itself as a AAA diamond luxury resort but that's far from the truth. read more

Feels more like a compound than a resort. You walk in and it has a convention center feel. The buildings and water fountains are beige/tan cement. I enjoy being at the pool area but how it's designed doesn't offer the best views. Take advantage of the location and see those ocean views. But we enjoyed the pools nonetheless of course. There is a swimup bar that we loved. The pool parties during the day had fun music. The sound was pretty good too. The place as a music venue was pretty cool. Music on the beach with good sound. And when it rained, we could go back to our room and hear the music rom our balcony or even in the room with the door open a bit. The rooms are ok. The beds seems pretty old and the pillows are awful but they have a nice shower and jacuzzi style tub. The air is pretty bad. It just pushes out humid air and makes it hard to sleep. We did get ants after our room was cleaned because some food was still in there and the plates were left outside the door for many hours. The food here is better than a lot of al inclusive resorts. The burger bar by the pool is good. The steakhouse over there is decent too. The desserts were loved by the people we sat with and looked really pretty. We had breakfast ordered to the room and was all pretty good except the eggs. Just not a huge fan but the other items were good. It's not the most amazing meals on earth but it's all Inclusive with a lot of people and a lot of options which is nice. The servers are all extremely nice and pretty attentive. Enjoying the experience all in all but for sure could use some adjustments. read more

My family and I stayed at the Moon Palace Resort for 5 nights and we had a pretty good time. This place is HUGE with 3 different resorts. We stayed at the Sunrise, but got to visit The Grand which is the newer more luxurious resort. There were several restaurants for us to choose from for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they were pretty good in my opinion, however, you will see the same food in a lot of the restaurants. The downside to this place is the room service is pretty awful - food always arrives cold. Also, they staff here seem pretty desperate trying to sell everyone on memberships. They got pretty annoying. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but will probably try another resort next time. read more

Absolutely worst resort I've ever stayed in. Lied to us about room placement, is misrepresentation of a facilities. Beach looks like dog poop, can't swim in it. Horrible food and service. Do not stay here! Waited an hour for this poolside! Tipped every time saw a group who never tipped her a ton of food first! This is the worst resort! read more
The vacation was by far the worst vacation I have ever been on! I will start by saying we booked this vacation through Costco. I have traveled through Costco in the past and everything was perfect no issues. We love Costco but fail to understand why they would represent this resort. Upon arrival we we placed in the sombrero section of the resort. This section is in the middle of nowhere as far away from pools, restaurants, activities and lobby as possible. I might understand if the resort was full but from what I was told they were at 41% capacity. While walking to the lobby/restaurants there was a noticeable smell of sewage or seaweed Very Unpleasant!! When we booked this trip it was all inclusive and not cheap. Upon arrival to the better restaurants at the resort I found out they have restrictions on what you can order. An example is say you want to try two appetizers they will only let you order one. Also if you want better cuts of steak they are not included you have to pay out of pocket for them. Next I will explain the resort credit scam that this resort runs. We got $1500 in resort credits that I figured we would use for gifts and excursions. When you book excursions they charge you a fee about $70 bucks per excursion and only certain excursions are included. I spent about an extra $400 dollars for excursions I thought would be covered by resort credits. Next is the shops on the resort everything is way over priced and they only allow about $100 resort credit per shop. An example nice beach bag might cost $100 normally in shops they are priced $200-$250 so you are still paying full price plus more because of tax. There is a 16% tax on all the resort credit you use plus the balance of your bill. The only place I feel you got a good deal with resort credits is the Spa. They allow you to use $300 there and my wife got a massage that she said was excellent. Next is the beach it's HORRIBLE!!!! You can't go in water it's that nasty. There was absolutely nobody on the beach because of smell and water not safe. This was the biggest disappointment we had my wife loves the beach. Every family we talked with had similar feelings about the beach. The pictures of resort online are very deceiving. As a guest you do have access to the beach palace resort which has a beautiful beach and nice blue water. To get to the beach palace it will cost you about $50 round trip plus you have inconveniences like not having a room at that resort. The security at the Moon Palace is excellent they monitor everything. We were traveling with children so this was very important to us. In closing there are thousands of resorts to choose from why choose one that has a horrible beach/water and smell. I would not stay at the Moon Palace again even if it was for free. read more

The resort is beautiful and the staff are attentive. Some cleanings are going undone, such as room hallways. It used to be better when we first started coming. The resort credits are hard to use, since they only let you use a small part of them at the spa. Plus you have to pay 16% for every resort credit you use. Wishes: the wristbands were fabric instead of this awful plastic. Spa and excursions need to be able to book before coming to resort. This process is ancient and involves staff calling someone. Took me 2 hours to book our spa and excursions. Btw; Tulum wasn't that great. read more

Place has so much potential, food is good, some places great. And the food service staff and bartenders are great! Now here's what you should know. First everything "offered" is non refundable. Transportation, even if it's full and you have to wait at the airport an extra hour. Or if you are offered a room upgrade and then find out it doesn't actually have a door to separate the bedrooms. Non refundable. But if you switch to another hotel then they might have an option, so you get the golf cart over there. Finally acceptable, but not really the same as two rooms, just a sliding door to separate the living room but that's okay. Until it rains and said room has water halfway across both rooms. They were really nice and cleaned it. Then the next day the same thing happens. And they squeegee and clean, but they "fixed" it so we don't need to move rooms. The next day no rain so no waking up to our private lake. So we upgrade to do a day pass for the Grand to get the waterpark, oh yes if you book anywhere except the grand no waterpark, dayclub or the higher end restaurants. Except by the time you wait in line, pay, explain you aren't doing the "membership" presentation and pay then get over there, it rains out the park for the day and there is only one restaurant that has availability. So you just get a different buffet. So for $300 that's what you get, again no refunds. I understand you can't control weather. So remember it is raining. So day 4 entails yet another room flooding wake up. But it's okay we're checking out! So they offer $100 credit if I will sign a release form and agree to not write a review. So crowd here's $100 bucks for you, also non refundable! read more

Save your money and go someplace else. This is a run down cheap resort. The service is extremely slow and half the time they bring you the wrong item. The employees are unprofessional and at times childish while laughing in your face. I will never go back to this resort or any other "all inclusive" resort. The atmosphere is cheap and the food disappointing. read more

Reception personnel at Nizuc is just horrible . One of my worst experiences while traveling. I made all my travel arrangements through "Expedia" which by the way I was treated they prefer "Costco" customers . They made that very clear .... At there 2 hotels "sunrise and Nizuc" they only have "Costco representatives at all times . I needed information regarding my pre arrangements for transportation and I was given the run around not to mention "reception" sent me on a "wild goose chase" I originally made a reservation at Nizuc but after seeing the horrible service I chose to spend by time at "Sunrise Moon Palace "a hotel in the same property " it's such a shame reception is horrible Because all other employees were "Amazing" . I probably will never come back to "Moon Palace Resorts" but I do want to say all other personal did make my stay great. read more
The negative reviews of this place are pretty comical. Yes, there's seaweed on the beaches here. It's kinda small, whispy seaweed that gets brought in from the tide. But it doesn't smell, and generally is the only interesting thing to look at on an otherwise blandly perfect beach. ...I mean I loved it, but this sort of scenery is not exactly my cup of tea. (And yes, I get how weird that is.) I'm a gay man, and I visited last year with a very close friend. When they called, they would address me as his wife when I answered: "Is this Mrs. Bryan Maloney?" Why yes, yes it is - I'll have a bottle of bubbles sent to the room immediately, thank you. We stayed at the Nizuic - which was all perfectly pleasant. Service was prompt enough. There was a wait at check-in, but they whisked us into a VIP area with coffee and breakfast while we waited. The facilities all are very pleasant to look at... big ceilings, pretty walkways, beautiful beaches. I was often irritated by the pool - which felt like Vegas. I know I'm a snobby gal in this regard, but what is it with suburban riff-raff to find its way from all corners of the country & hoard chaise lounges like they're 2-bedroom condos? Seriously... It's like the Hunger Games of pool seating. Needless to say, I spent most my time on the beach. A little secret I should probably keep to myself: not one staff member question our use of the private beach cabanas, despite not wearing appropriate bracelets to use them. (We didn't know we needed them until halfway through the vacation.) It's true what people say about resort credit: generally a scam. Nearly all the day trips, snorkeling, dolphin swimming, etc., either is an out-of-pocket deal or has extra fees. They'll charge 16 percent on whatever the retail cost of the service runs, but then there are often others they leave out: transport, docking fees, tips. (Some of the brochures specifically highlight, "Price does not include tips.") We did find a couple things that only charged the 16 percent, such as wine tasting and a zip line trip, plus the "husband" said bottles of wine while dining don't have a fee if you buy them with resort credit. Um, tbh. No one bothered to check if we paid to go to The Grand - we snuck in one day, and a French restaurant there seated us without a reservation. We went to a nightclub there one night... I was in a full black sequin ensemble, and a party of bridesmaids found me hilarious. The club, however, didn't, and after four-too-many shots, a sorta homophobic manager kicked us out. Which was fine, as I was waaaaasted. So wasted, in fact, that I misplaced my sequin jacket with my phone inside. I'd passed out in an open hallway, and kind staffers came at around 3am to collect me and shuttle me back to my room. With my belongings missing, I spent two days at Lost and Found engaged in a useless debate about my missing things. I was crestfallen to lose both of them... But they did eventually find them after much persistence. Honestly, the only lack of star I have to give this place is the food, which was very hit or miss. The wine is pretty flavorless alcoholic grape juice. And in some memorable instances, the meals tasted generally like flavorless protein that they'd scientifically altered to look like beef, veggies, and what have you. But there were some good places, too. The Hibachi was good, as was the French restaurant. We'll be staying at The Grand this year - and I'm so excited! read more

My daughter had a wedding at the Moon Palace, Cancun resort at the end of June 2024. We had 100 guests. From the time we got there until we left we had nothing but misrepresentation from her wedding coordinator and wedding team. They were charging extra fees from different guests, that was not in any one's contract. The day of her wedding the transportation that was suppose to be arranged was late, My husband actually had to walk to the venue because they had 3 other weddings going on and they did not have enough gulf carts. But the cherry on the cake was on the day of us leaving for the airport she was handed a bill for eight thousand dollars for damages to to band's sound system because it rained on her wedding reception. The wedding by the way was 3 day prior but not a word until check out. The whole resort is a scam. Avoid the place at all cost. They promise you the moon and when you get there they pull out contracts that you were suppose to have. However the problem is, they have no signatures on all the scam contract, because they never gave it but did want to justify the scam fees. Brides and families be ware!!!! Sad that my daughters' wedding was so ruined! read more

TLDR: UNSAFE conditions, A/Cs not working in rooms, scammy credit operations, CHECK YOUR TODDLERS DRINK 3x TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE NON ALCOHOLIC! Just a warning, we are currently writing this review from our room as we contemplate cutting our time here short. When we arrived 5 days ago it was clear we were going to be walking into issues. The line outside of public relations was wrapped around the corner as we walked by and it didn't take long to figure out why. Our room floors and walls were soaked for the first 3 nights. Another party in our group still has yet to have A/C to their room on day 5. Everything in our room is damp. Our clothes, the bed, our hair upon waking, our kids, everything smells like sour laundry now. Every clean outfit we pull out to put on for the day now already smells sour and is damp. Numerous members of our family are nursing wounds from injuries sustained from the unsafe and slippery conditions here (I will add pics) Aside from that ongoing concern, the staff has served our 8 year old alcohol that luckily we questioned and caught in time. None of your included credits work toward anything available in the resort. If you think you have an in-house excursion credit think again, the $200 room spa credit works toward nothing in the spa except the $350 massage that they highly encourage. This is not our first all-inclusive in Mexico but this is our worst to date. The food has been fine, the service staff are very nice, but overall this has been a pretty expensive way to spend our week feeling like we wanted to go home. Unfortunately, we are now counted amongst the many other miserable vacation-going family's here as the conditions have not improved and they offer no remediation for these issues. I don't know if a warning might have helped but we may have been more willing to advocate for ourselves sooner had we suspected that these were perpetual areas of neglect here at Moon Palace Sunset. read more

My family and I visited the Nizuc Moon Palace for my son's graduation from high school with a group of his friends and their parents. My son was assaulted by an overserved youth in the hallway of the resort and scuffled with the young man just to be released from the assault. The resort took my son's privileges to go to the bars even though he did not initiate physical encounter and acted in self defense. They said they took the other youth's privilege to drink at bars although we saw him drinking with the proper wristband the rest of the trip. Due to management's poor handling of this situation the trip was more of a negative experience than a positive one. If you plan to celebrate with young adults pick another resort as our experience was horrible. read more

Be very careful. Have been members for over two decades. In our most recent trip the concierge for Diamond members overcharged for services included in our membership and made it very difficult to correct charges. We have been coming here for years and there is lots to love about the place, however there are a few things I feel you should note before coming - THERE ARE NO ADULTA ONLY POOL SPACES AT SUNRISE OR NIZUC. If your looking for time away from children this is not the place! With such a great diversity of culture and race there really is not courtesy with how children behave so you need to be prepared to deal with it. -The Grand at moon palace does have an amazing adult pool for vip - Be sure to be absolutely clear on what you want and need with partner venders there is photography, trips etc. resort credits can be used only is some situations and with caps of how much you can use. -I recommend booking transportation to and from the airport with the resort. Mush less hassle and stress - men bring a pair of dress slacks, collared shirt and close toed shoes if you want to go to all restaurants. There are a few that have a dress code so make sure you have proper attire if you want to visit them as there are not exceptions. Between the amazing food, ample activities and more pools and beach than you could probably completely visit in a week you will enjoy this resort read more

Amazing Experience. There was many restaurants to choose from and so many activities for kids too! My favourite restaurant is definitely Cusco for lunch because they have veggies great seafood and with any allergies can make special food. You can never be bored in this resort, there are 4 resorts in Moon Palace. I went to the Grand and it was amazing. There was a gym and a spa and a day and night club for adults and a kids club and an arcade for children. The staff are so nice and very welcoming. They seem like they love there job and really connect with others. If you are in need of a nice warm vacation with good food, this should definitely be your first choice. read more
I can never get enough of this place. Lots of work done since i was last here, all of it good. Multiple restaurants in each of the three hotels on property, several 24 hour ones, handy for my early morning read on the beach with coffee, and a danish. They keep the rooms spotless, and offer pillows with Lavender, or Chamomile, or orthopedic, just a nice touch. Order the Aromatherapy too, each night they sneak in and refill it so your rooms always smell great! The Presidential Suites are giant, and each room features a jacuzzi tup, ours always face the ocean, nice place to take a bath, read, and drink Crazy Monkeys. Almost every employee speaks English, and there are Crocodillos to watch if you ask. Leezards everywhere, and some Coatamundi too. We got a massage, mani-pedi with the package, and feels good to have Girl Hands and Feet again! GO! I promise you'll thank me! read more

First of all the transportation sucks. The workers in the lobby said every 5-10 minutes a golf cart arrives to a stop, that wasn't true. We had to wait around 45 minutes to an hour waiting on transportation as we had a reservation at JC's Stake House. We were late to our reservation. Every time a golf cart came to the stop it said Nizuc (where we stayed) to the grand which is where we needed to go. 4 cars passed by saying the same thing and said they would call someone which they didn't. Eventually a golf cart showed up and took us there. Now let's talk about the room service. The room service and the food was spectacular I had Buffalo Wings, Fries and more from Room Service and it was good. Only thing about the food is don't go to the buffet order room service or go to a different hotel and eat. I wouldn't come back here if I had to. I would be staying two hotels down at the Royaltan which is better than this hotel and it's cheaper. What we paid for one night at the Moon Palace is what 3 nights can be paid for at the Royaltan. read more

WORST PLACE WE HAVE EVER STAYED AT!!! DON'T STAY HERE!! Everything that could have possibly gone wrong did! First we land at the airport and it took them and hour to track down our reservation for the private shuttle. Then, we check into the hotel and we booked 2 double bed rooms and 2 king bed rooms and they only gave us 1 double bed room and 3 king bed rooms. The rooms are COVERED in mosquitos. We spent so much time killing them just so we can get a decent night sleep. They had to fumigate our rooms twice. The walk to every restaurant and the main pool is very long and the golf carts are very hit and miss. Even if they do come, they are full and won't stop for you. The food was TERRIBLE! Practically inedible. Everything was cold or was cheaply made. Absolutely disgusting. My whole family was starving the whole trip. The only decent meal we got was quesadillas at the zip line base camp OUTSIDE of the resort. Another thing to note is that you cannot make restaurant reservations until the day you check in, which is too late because every restaurant is fully booked. They don't take walk-ins, leaving families to eat at the buffet with very gross food. To top off the whole experience, it rained during our stay and all of our rooms FLOODED! We got the private swim up rooms and the pool flooded into our rooms. The staff had a clean up crew that came and swept the water out of the rooms, as if this happened often. We talked to multiple other families that had the exact same experience and will never be coming back. read more

To start with the resort is beautiful, however this is by far the strictest and un accommodating resort I have visited, i have stayed at three other resorts on my visits to cancun, below are the problems you may face. Dated June 30th, 2024. While l understand that i share the resort with others there was a few issues. 1. no personal music can be played at/around the resort. (they will threaten to kick you out) 2. the beach bar/restaurant within arms-reach of the pool does serve you unless you are dry and clothes in business casual. 3. transportation to and from the sister/brother resorts is free but are hard to come by. should you succeed the workers will attempt to extort you for additional compensation. 4. all excursions were not as advertised. example: atv rides booked for 12 upon arrival the guide told us only half of our group would be able to ride after spending 120$ a person. 5. restaurants are booked out 1/2 - 2 days in advance allowing your only option to be the buffet. In conclusion, the resort is very un-accommodating. and would recommend instead of moon palace Nizuc. read more
Our family visited this Resort back in October and we booked through Costco. Our trip was simply amazing. Great service from any one that we encountered there. We ate at almost every restaurant and all of them had amazing food options. Just keep in mind that portions are quite small. But we preferred that because that meant we got to try many different dishes on the menu which is not something my family is accustomed to. Our rooms were a bit small but considering we didn't spend that much time there it was fine. Air conditioned worked too well because most nights we were so cold we had to raise the temperature a little bit. Having the option for 24/7 room service was amazing. Definitely something that we really really enjoyed. Overall the moon palace resort was an absolute dream come true to stay at. I have so many photos and videos because when I was there I just couldn't believe how beautiful the resort is. read more

We are on site. We confirmed multiple times the Flow rider was first come first served but now it is under maintenance. We asked about restaurant reservations ahead of time were told we could do on-site so we could not get for first couple days. This was the 5th Cancún hotel I been to, and was supposed to be the fanciest according to prices. This was such a disappointment. There are like 5 different levels of memberships, and you are made very aware if you are not the highest level of membership. You can't sit in certain places, like we couldn't reserve a restaurant for 2 days in advance because priority goes to the highest level members. Coffee has a 30 minute wait to order, all restaurants accept buffet has 1 hour minimum wait. There is also no beach. Service is mostly not good. We did have a couple nice waiters who were tipped generously. Room service was very good. This hotel definitely felt like a snob hotel, with very frustrating set up for regular people who didn't pay for a high level membership. When I set on the wrong chair a worker came up and told me to move as I'm not at the right level of membership to sit there, I offered to pay for the seats as there were no others available. The lady was so rude, and gestured with her hand that I'm at a low level and I can't sit there. Truly a crazy experience for such prices. read more

I stayed at the Moon Palace Sunrise for 7 days. For those of you who do not know there are 3 connected resorts, The Grand, The Nizuc & The Sunrise. Yes the property its self is located on beautiful land surrounded by lush vegetation. The Sunrise's rooms really weren't anything special, they were outdated and in need of maintenance upgrades. Our room had a moldy smell, which simply wouldn't go away even by airing out the room. I won't nit pick by mentioning the issues with maintenance. I will include a photo of the stained sheets that house keeping provided on the bed. Unfortunately the linen is simply old and on three occasions we had to remove and exchange them from the linen cart in the hall way due to what appeared to be blood stains. The last thing anyone paying for an A. I. resort would expect is to be startled by loud hammering in your neighboring room. (And No its not the hammering of a honeymoon suite) A maintenance crew was working on plumbing to my adjoining room. When I contacted the "public relations" rep "Belen" she insisted that I relocate from my room, which happened to be very close to the pool and beach. She tried convincing me to switch to a room toward the rear of the property. When I informed her that since I am an owner with the time share affiliated with the Moon Palace I was simply going to notify the corporate office. This seemed to change her tune and she told me she would speak with the maintenance supervisor and attempt to convince him to stop. Long story short I had to actually track down a manager hours later to get them to stop with the noise. The service at the pool was terrible. If you wanted to order food or drinks you had to wait a half hour for a server to even come to you. The place is just too big with not enough workers tending to the patrons. Your best bet is find a chair near the swim up bar and order drinks and food from the bartenders. Ok last complaint the beach area...Unfortunately this resort is protected by a reef so this means tons of sea grass washes up to shore and about 50 feet off shore. If you do choose to wade through the water drag your feet, we saw sting rays everywhere. Unfortunately I only went in one time. Tons of non swim-able beach. We ultimately ventured into hotel row in Cancun for some day beaching time. Ok now the good news. The restaurants were beautiful and the food was good but nothing to brag about. Ok the highlight. If you have the misfortune of coming here you have to go the spa and water therapy treatment at the golf course. It was pretty amazing. Lastly I want to thank a worker named Genesis who was truly the only person my wife and I found affiliated with the Moon Palace Sunrise who exemplified customer service. Nope we wont be returning. read more

The Grand Moon Palace everything automatically went bad. We walked up to the front desk and immediately the concierge had a very hasty manner and nasty attitude. We ignored it due to being eager to start our vacation so we checked in and got our waistbands for our rooms. We got on the golf cart to go to our room and open the door to one king size bed. We immediately turned around and went back on the golf cart to go to the front desk and asked for a manager. Once the manager comes out the office with an "I don't care attitude", I proceeded to tell her the situation and she stated it's nothing that she can do about it but provide a roller bed. We did not accept the roller bed because we paid for a swim up with two queen beds. As well as, there wasn't any room for a roller bed and king bed. To fit the roller bed, we would've had to climb on beds to get around the room. The manager proceeds to say, "There's no rooms left." I then stated, "well I guess I'll be calling American Express to get a full refund because yall not going to take my money for something I did not receive." Apparently, now the manager has a two bed swim up available once I made my comment and once my daughter seen 3 queen bed swim ups available online. We were all so confused. Next let's talk about the room, the room was clean but the swim up pool was dirty, outdoor bed was filthy, the floor had ants due to food from the previous guest. Every pool we encountered was dirty with bugs, band aids and trash. The pools also are suppose to have servers which were no where to be found to order food or drinks. Moving forward to the "25 restaurants" on our resort and the other 50 on the other two sister resorts are all bad bad bad business! They inform you to book restaurants online on the app but when u go to book everything is booked up! Most of the servers have nasty attitudes and when conflict arises, such as asking for a manager, they talk about you in front of your face in their language, thinking you don't know what they are saying. Shame on them! Due to the restaurants being booked, we tried room service and that was even bad. Room service arrived a hour and 45 mins after we ordered and when it arrived it was hard, cold and overcooked. My fries were hard like chips, rice was mushy, chicken soup was watery, etc. my family and I have been starving the entire trip. One reservation for "JC steakhouse", we were on the waitlist for 24 hours. Due to us being on the waitlist for one restaurant, we could not make any other reservations. As dinner time approaches, we continued to check the app for the waitlist update but it never updated. We then proceeded to go to the restaurant and the hostess Miguel attitude was very unprofessional. He stated, "we serve 700 people a night" and referred us to restaurants on the opposite side of resort. Something told me to check my email so I did and saw it was a email from the restaurant saying our table was ready and to confirm. When I went to confirm, the app stated we couldn't confirm. I proceed to go back to the hostess Miguel and he shrugs his shoulder and tell me "it's nothing that he can do". Next, I ask for the manager (Ernesto) and Miguel begins to speak to another host in another language using hand gestures and nonverbal ques with an attitude. I asked if the person he was speaking to was the manager and he ignored me and finished his conversation. The manager Ernesto then sends another staff member to come over and talk to me to attempt to accommodate me but all she states was "you need to be patient". The only place we could eat at was The Grand Buffet and that was because it didn't require a reservation. I hate it here! please do not bring your family here because the service does not match the atmosphere or the decorations. I'm so ready to leave but I spent too much money on this trip to just turn around so we are trying to make the best of our last days here. My son is trying to make the best out of his last summer trip but overall this experience is horrendous and I would not recommend this place to anyone. After my trip advisory review posted, I received a call by a young lady name Stephanie who tried to help my family and I as much as possible but unfortunately we all know that she doesn't have much control. Stephanie asked if she can come by my room or we can talk on the phone, I agreed for her to stop by the room so that she can see how dirty things are. She asked how could she compensate us and I told her a refund for half of my money because the time already has been wasted. She also was able to make dinner reservations for us and told us that she will send the maids to clean up the room after we left out. She informed me that she had been reading all of the reviews, which is a lot but please believe that everything everybody is saying is true. I wish I would have read them before coming! Thank you TikTok but no thanks. The only accommodation that her manager offer me was $267 USD. read more

VIP PALACE ELITE TIMESHARE IS A RIPOFF..! FOOD, ROOM SERVICE, SPA ALL OK. YES THEY ARE A CHEAT. https://youtu.be/gWqmp1shkGE (Follow the link for detailed review on VIP Elite Membership) WE had purchased Timeshare @ The Grand in 2019 and were promised 2 Imperial weeks that includes Presidential Suite @ The Grande..! We used one imperial week in 2021 where we were given access to the grande and in 2023 our access was denied. DURING CONTRACT, we were PROMISED Imperial Weeks with Presidential suite @ the Grande. Just because I downgraded to Sunrise, they said I have not paid for access to the Grande..!! I was using my imperial weeks where no matter I stay be it Grande or Sunrise, I would not pay for stay. So 1st I downgraded myself as I prefer sunrise as only Sunrise has HAMMOCKS and Good OCean View but ALREADY PAID MORE IN ADVANCE FOR THE GRANDE AND THEN THESE PEOPLE HAD GUTS TO SAY I DID NOT PAY FOR THE GRANDE ACCESS..! Just so you all know that we were charged $35,000 - $36000 USD...!!!! For 7 days we stayed, we were asked to use our resort credit to access Grande and pay service fee each person upto $32 so for 6 people we would have ended up paying almost $200 for the VIP ELITE MEMBERSHIP that WE have already purchased and Paid for ..!!! WORSE WAS AS IT WAS SPRING WEEK the resort was so crowded that 2 Restaurants that require Reservations were always fully booked so we never got chance to dine in La Trattoria Italian and Rivera one. Indian restaurant we know is less than 1 * rating and so while we were thinking to dine, I happen to meet an Indian girl who said they already tried and was a garbage..!!! so 3 restaurants were out and we mainly kept dining at Bumgambilias, El Manglar, Gondola, Peppa's, Momo's. El Mangalar and Bugambilias however has international food which was overall great.! We get to try Indian food which was better than Agra Restaurant. However, still not per the Indian standard. one day Paneer and curry both tasted stale and I was actually warned by another Indian lady. My Brother noticed chicken was chewy and not proper. Momo's was aso busy that they had long lines as they did not take reservation so one day I stood in line. Food was okay. Momo Tepanyaki requires reservation but we did not dine there. Regular momos does not require reservation. we always tipped Good servers. Don't forget they had taken away our access to the Grande..! AIRPORT TRANSFER WAS PROMISED BUT when we arrived, customs was a Fish Market. by the time we got out it took us 1.5-2 hours. it was about 6-6:30 pm already. we had started at 6 AM in the morning. we were already tired and now the included Airport shuttle ride told us to wait for 1-1.5 hours..!! yes Palace resort could not even arrange for a bus or more shuttle for passenger pick-up if they knew sooo many people were arriving in that time slot..! so we were FORCED to take a private taxi who charged us $104 USD to go to Moon Palace and convinced us that Resort will Credit us our money as it was not our fault and later Moon Palace Resort denied the Responsibility and said they cannot refund it and that they had already arranged for shuttle service..!! so YES with over $35000 USD of Timeshare even a Proper Shuttle Ride is not Guaranteed...! Before I booked this reservation, Had so many glitches after glitches with their emails, support services, IT services. Moon Palace is getting Worse day by day..! Spa service I noticed @ Sunrise was ok. Pedicure and Manicure some steps were being omitted when the lady was doing of my brother. in my case, lad y could not even paint proper white line for French Manicure look..! the white nail paint was very thick where she had to keep dipping brush and not think to make it thin for proper consistent line..! We visited this resort 7 years ago and it was the stuff of legends. Not anymore. It has gone downhill in an unforgivable way. 1) They no longer have credits for the days you stay. Ergo, you have to pay ungodly much for activities now. Previously, the longer you stayed you got points towards yours and things you could use to visit Mayan ruins and other sites. 2) Now they limit what you can do. Previously, you could catch a bus from one property to another. Now you can not visit the Grande. They also have "exclusive" parts of the resort. 3) They try to sell you their exclusive palace vacation membership... like a timeshare presentation for a crappy property. 4) The food has gone downhill. Used to be fabulous. Now it is very mediocre. 5) They literally lost our reservation despite having booked months in advance and having the confirmation. My partner and I spent 8 hours on the phone (between us) sorting this out. No upgrade. No offer to compensate us for our trouble and time. Moreover, multiple staff were rude to us as if it were our problem! 6) Speaking of rude.... The staff are rude. Also, do not expect them to try to help you at all. They will put you in a perpetual phone tree of people and waste your time. 7) Everything is on your own. Check in requires you fill out your information on an ipad. No personal touch. Even the delicious blue welcome drink is gone. Reservations at events and dinner require you to do them on your own with no help from staff. 8) They force you to download an app To do anything. I asked for a map; denied- use the app. I asked for a list of restaurants; denied- use the app. I asked for the number of restaurants on the property; literally a number- denied. Dinner reservations requires an App. Menus require an app. Room service requires an app (oh and by the way, YOU CAN'T ORDER WATER via room service. Once you drink the bottles in your room, you are on your own). Not everyone wants extra apps. Some people don't own smart phones, have limited phone space, or are privacy conscious (an App is a potential privacy breach). Also, they don't appear to act on requests through the app that they force you to use - see number 10. 9) They extort you by requiring you pay in usd, but only spitting pesos out of the ATM (they advertise that you can get usd). Then you have to pay to exchange. 10) The rum in the room was empty on check-in. I requested a refill. Nothing was done. Used the app for a second request; nothing was done. Used the app concierge request (for paper trail at this point)... was brought soda to "refill the bar". Placed another call... 24 hours after I first reported the issue and rum still not restocked. Don't believe the "if you ever run out, we will be there to refill; no problem" lies. 11) 1000 other things and this is day 2 of 12. Strongly recommend you avoid this place. read more

This hotel has provided us with a nightmare stay this week. It has been raining all week (not their fault). But, so many things have happened as a result of the rain. First, I left our room one morning to go to the hotel gym which was well equipped. However, no signs of sanitizing wipes, hand sanitizers, anything to keep the space as germ free as possible. I returned to our room at 830 AM where my teenage daughters were sleeping to find it flooded with water pouring out of the bathroom phone (yes the phone) and the bathroom light fixture. I called the desk to see if they would mop up the water and just clean our room. We then left to go to the "no pressure" sales pitch at the grand. Where they asked me no less than four times if I was single or widowed. I'm divorced. When we decided against a time share, they walked away from us leaving us in the middle of the resort conference center with no idea how to get back to our hotel. We got back and had lunch. We returned to our room at 230 only to find more water in it and not one sign of anyone had cleaned it up. I asked for a room change. They said they would call us when the room was ready which ended up being 1130 PM and the kids were sleeping. The next day we tried to make the best of it. We went to the Nizuc lobby which was fine and got some time by the pool despite the rain. We went to dinner and came back to our room to find it infested with insects (see pictures). Hundreds of them in our beds, in the vents, everywhere. They granted us a room transfer. I went to public relations to see if they would partially refund our room and they laughed in my face, offering me a 50 dollar credit. I did not take it. I showed them the photos of the hugs in the bed and the man seriously said to me "thats not that many bugs"...? In a five star hotel, what is considered too many bugs? I would think one for what they charge here. We went to Nizuc again for a change of scenery and the roof collapsed as we were sitting in the lobby. (See pic) no one said or did anything to insure for the safety of everyone in the lobby. Lastly, this trip was for my twin daughter's 15th birthday. I had phoned ahead of our trip to pay for ballons in the room on the day of our arrival. They arrived at 830 with half inflated balloons in a trash bag. We had checked in at 3 Our first trip here was amazing and this place has turned into a complete nightmare that could not care less about their paying customers or their safety. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

WARNING to all hard working families : avoid all Palace and Hard Rock resorts.. we have been to five of them and one is worse then the other : they all take advantage of tourists. DO NOT ever buy any of their time shares. It is a waste of money and time. Your better off spending your hard earned money on vacations locally or within the United States. They entice you with tricks and then they run up the tab on you . They resort money is useless and then they charge you 16% resort tax!! Their resort money is as useless as the arcade money kids get at arcades like Chuckee cheese. Save your money and spend it on your self or kids and vacation where and when you want . They also have blackout dates. It is no longer all inclusive , more like exclusive . On top of it you have To wait sometimes 2-3 days to get reservations at restaurants , spa and activities at their own resort. Even at the Grande , the most exclusive section of moon palace : we waited 2-3 days to get into the JC steakhouse , spa and activities. From one hard working family to another : avoid all palace and hard rock resorts and never buy their time shares or any time share if you are smart . Sincerely , hard working parents from United States read more

So, I have just had returned from another trip to Moon palace (4/18/2017). This place is great the staff is very pleasant and they are always looking to please. the grounds are very well kept the food is very tasty and there is a pool for every one. Now the other side they are always looking for ways to get more money from you. and not just a little a lot. Example we wanted to stay longer so we went to the front desk to ask for assistance. They quoted us almost double what Expedia quoted so obviously we used Expedia to book our other room. this made them angry so they told us that we had to move to the other side or pay to stay in our current room. I can understand if they were over sold or full. We then want to change the departure shuttle time because we were going to stay they wanted to charge us more to do that. Lastly we decided to leave, because they would not let us stay in our room when we went to take the shuttle they said they changed it and the shuttle would need 24 hours notice to pick us up so we would need to take a taxi that they contract with. The bottom line make sure you book exactly what you want and don't make or expect any changes with out a hefty fee. go have fun and good luck. read more

I recently stayed at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun with my company, which invests hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to ensure an exceptional experience for our teams. Regrettably, this visit was far from that. Guest Jasmine Renteria room 1605 for management's reference Upon dining at one of their restaurants, we were shocked to encounter a cockroach on our table--an unpleasant surprise in what is supposed to be a diamond-rated resort. The incident was poorly handled. While I requested a substantial resolution, such as compensating the billing for our room, the management's response was underwhelming: they sent an $8 bottle of champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries with a "Happy Birthday" sign to our room. Given that this is an all-inclusive resort, this gesture felt more like an irritation than a resolution. Overall, the lack of satisfactory handling of this situation has left me deeply disappointed. While Moon Palace boasts grand amenities, our experience was overshadowed by an unfortunate lapse in cleanliness and an inadequate response. Review for your stay aware, and I hope future clients have a more attentive experience. read more

I recently booked a stay at Moon Palace Cancun and was excited for what I thought would be a seamless, luxury experience. However, my excitement quickly turned to frustration when I discovered after paying in full that complimentary airport transportation is only available for stays of 4 nights or more. For a 3-night stay costing over $1,900, I expected airport transfers to be included - or at the very least, this policy to be clearly disclosed before completing the booking. Instead, I only learned about this restriction after receiving my confirmation email, at which point I was informed that I'd need to pay $180 for transportation. This lack of transparency feels excessive and disappointing, especially for a resort marketing itself as high-end. I have not yet stayed at Moon Palace Cancun, but this initial experience leaves me questioning the level of service and communication I can expect during my trip. Policies like this should be made clear before booking, not buried in post-payment fine print. I hope Moon Palace Cancun improves the clarity of its booking process to better match the luxury experience it promises. read more

We recently stayed at Moon Palace Cancun, and overall it was a great family-friendly experience. The resort itself is huge, with endless things to do and plenty of activities for both adults and kids. The service stood out--every staff member we interacted with was attentive and kind. One of the best parts for us as parents was the Playroom, the childcare center where kids can play and be supervised. It gave us peace of mind and some time to ourselves. A special shoutout to Andrea at the Playroom, who was wonderful with my daughter and made her feel so comfortable and happy. The food and drinks were very good, and having room service available made it super convenient after long days at the pool. We definitely took advantage of that. The only real downside was the beach area--unfortunately, it wasn't the clear turquoise water you'd hope for in Cancun. The water was murky, and at times it had a strong smell, so we spent most of our time at the pools instead. Overall, it's a fantastic resort if you're traveling with kids, with excellent service and plenty of entertainment, but don't expect a postcard-perfect beach. read more

I recently attended a wedding at Moon Palace The Grand, and as a guest, I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and care. Several guests, including myself, were told that the bride and groom had left us a gift, only to discover it was just a ploy to sell us a voucher for a future stay--a blatant misrepresentation. My room was also a disappointment, with a rundown and dirty setup, and constant construction noise in the 85 building made it hard to relax. The wedding itself was mishandled on so many levels. From a missing flower arch (that the bride paid nearly $2,000 for) to unannounced services like a churro cart, it felt chaotic. Many of us were left waiting for transportation and missed parts of the cocktail hour. Even the cake was wrong, not matching the simple design the couple requested. For an event that should have been magical, Moon Palace left a bitter taste in all of our mouths. I wouldn't recommend this resort, especially for such important occasions. read more

Do not go to the presentation on this resort. The sales team are unethical. They are rude and will lie to your face. No customer service once they get your money. Recently they have 2 Americans arrested and been in maximum prison since the beginning of March. What the couple did is they complained to their credit card company because moon palace breach their contract. The credit card company sided with the couple and reverse the charges. Moon Palace have the couple arrested with no bail. Shame on moon Palace corrupt businesss practices. read more

This resort is just way to big. You walk for ever just to get to the pool, or dinner or anything you want to do. The pool is not heated and was a little too cold to really spend much time in. The food was ok, but by the middle of the week you get tired of the same selections. It did have a surf rider that was included which was fun, although the lines could get kind of long. The other palace resorts are more interesting and more relaxing, especially the one at Playa Del Carman. read more

We stayed at Moon Palace Resort Nizuc. Overall, the resort is nice, staff were well-trained & friendly. You won't be hungry. Just don't expect the food to be great tasting, they taste ok no matter which restaurant you choose. Breakfast served the same at every restaurant, EXCEPT when they try to get you to buy their so-called "timeshares" or whatever their private term is. Tips: not worth buying read more

Worst resort I've been too, and I still have to be here 2 more days. don't waste your money. The place is just a high pressure sales position pitch to buy into their 'program'.
