WOW This is our first resort in Cancun and I don't think we will ever choose another one. FOOD Wow. We did our homework before our trip and saw Zilara Cancun had good/decent reviews about their food. Let me tell you, this is probably the best food I've had in a long long time. Top dishes for me are the octopus with mole and lobster tostada from Maria Marie. If you like/can eat seafood, trust me on this. The drinks are phenomenal as well. There are signature drinks at all the restaurants. Those are mostly hits but some are misses (depends on your taste buds) PRO TIP: sign up for alcohol tastings at The Den first day you get there. We did tequila and wine tasting. It was quite a unique experience. SERVICE I've never gotten treated like this in any hotel I've been at. Chef's kiss for sure. The bellhop/front desk usually can break your 20s/100s into 1s so don't feel the need to exchange pesos (unless you want to of course). The workers at the hotel (and around Cancun overall) takes USD PRO TIP: there are a lot of activities hosted by the hotel. Morning exercise classes are really fun and the night shows are just okay. The crowd is definitely on the older side that just want to come to Cancun and chill not party. From hearing the reviews, Zilara had the most amount of activities from various first hand reviews from our friends All in all, solid resort. You won't regret it!

We typically go to the excellence Cancun, but they didn't have two club rooms the weeks we wanted to go so we picked the Zilara and overall I'm glad we did. FOOD- I overall liked the food. I wish they would have advertised/told us the buffet had different theme dinners. They were our favorite for dinner. There were good dishes at each, but nothing phenomenal. I really liked the lunches they had set up by the pool. It was overall good and on par with my expectations for an all inclusive. BEACH- this is honestly one of the highlights. The resort had one of the best beaches and ability to get in the ocean. If you want to get in the ocean, this is the spot. SERVICE - this was the most disappointing. At Excellence you cannot breathe without someone asking if you need something. It took a long time for people to check on us and we tip well. Day 4 we finally found Humberto who was THE BEST! Find him and tip him well. ROOMS- they were good and I was happy with them! POOLS- the pools were fine. A little shaded. The most annoying part was the cabana situation. Some are free, some are always paid, and some are paid on certain days. I get up at like 6AM every day anyways so I got good cabanas but if you're not an early riser you're screwed. Overall, I'd return!!

Loved it here! The resort was beautiful & extremely clean. The food was amazing (especially at the Italian restaurant!!) & there were PLENTY of vegan, vegetarian & gluten free options at all meals. I was really pleased with that. Service in the restaurants & at pool bars is friendly but pretty slow - so be aware of that. Once we settled into the slower pace, we just started ordering everything at once when we were greeted & it was fine. The spa was a huge highlight of our trip. We did the hydro therapy, massage & facial & it was all incredible. The spa is beautiful and well maintained They also had a great gym which was a highlight for us. Erik helped us book our services & he was super helpful and kind. When we passed him in the lobby, he checked on us throughout our stay to make sure we enjoyed everything or to see if we needed help. 12/10 !! Truly has the perfect personality for hospitality.

All-inclusive resort in the Hotel Zone. Stayed here as part of a bachelorette trip for a weekend. There was a mix up in room assignments where they put the wrong names in each room so we had to say the wrong room number in order to get access to the restaurants. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly and everything was kept immaculate. The rooms included a hot tub and a balcony, and they provided plenty of water bottles. Theres a safe in the closet as well as a blow dryer. There's 24/7 room service and there were 5 different bars/eateries on premise (though I personally went to the cafe the most for gelato). There were reserved and free-for-all cabanas on both the pool as well as the beach. There was a hot tub. There were restrooms on the beach as well as showers and plenty of towels. There was a gym and they offered group exercise classes (including reformer, although there's only 7 machines so get there early) in the mornings. They had a lot of activities too, including a foam party on Friday afternoon and a mambo night on Saturday in the sports themed bar. For the checkout process, you must vacate the room by noon and obtain a checkout card from the front desk. They are able to call you a taxi but we had a prearranged shuttle service. Overall, a relaxing stay that is for adults only.

We had 7 days and 6 nights at Zilara and it was amazing. The resort hotel is beautifully decorated and managed, the staff are all very pleasant and accommodating. The pool and beach areas and really nicely done as well. They supplied plenty of entertainment options as well as food options. I wasn't told no on anything during my stay. We will be back at Zilara!

Amazing resort!! A+++ From top to bottom, start to finish, nothing short of impeccable service and amenities. We chose the swim up suite which I particularly enjoyed with covid still around. We had our own pool to ourselves 98% of the time. Great views from our balcony. We loved all of the rest and cafes, with Asiana maybe being the least except for the sushi offering which was very fresh!! The trip was booked for my birthday and Hyatt did not disappoint with decorations and several surprises! It was wonderful! Highly recommend the resort. Always felt safe. Most guests and ALL staff wearing masks.

This was a great all-inclusive vacation. As a Hyatt Explorist, check-in was seamless, as I was escorted to a private area. The room for some may appear outdated, but it was nice and functional. The bathroom was spacious with a great walk-in shower. The room was clean, and the daily services were great, with restocking the fridge. The breakfast was excellent, given the omelet station, rack of donuts, and champagne from the FIRST-AID STATION. Dinner at each of the restaurants was great, as well as lunch. The drinks were poured very well, not too much juice/medium. Everyone was very nice. The only concern I had with this resort was the poolside cabanas. People would go out early and place a book or some item on the cabana and wouldn't return for hours. They need to have patrons sign up through the staff to reserve the free cabanas in 4 hour increments only per hotel room, not per guest. This would allow for a more fair way for people to experience all the amenities of the hotel.

Excelente!!! Very great professional staff, breathtaking rooms and views, with delicious variety food options. This place is awesome and definitely worth staying here. The accommodations and ambiance is so perfect to relax, vacation, or even host an event.

Still an amazing place. Some of the people that made this an amazing trip again. Our Concierge Jocelyn and Eddie Chan made the reservations and trip accommodations. Just call ahead they book it all for you. My wife loves the spa so Yanira and Maria were awesome the massage my wife got was so amazing. But you don't have to pay you can also schedule a free spa day. I went and it was good. Recommended for sure. In Punta Vista Alejandro was so awesome. In Maria Marie restaurant Wilson was awesome. At Chefs plate Mateo and Merino were amazing and presentations awesome. For the cabanas our favorite Janet and Eduardo were so on point we never had an empty glass. They were always on point. So awesome to have service this quick and courteous. This trip Abimael is just as amazing but he was on vacation. These people work so hard. Please if you go and you love it leave a review with their names for recognition. In April - December 2025 most of them don't know their fate as the hotel will shut down during those months for renovations. Hopefully the new place reads these reviews and takes our recommendations and praise to heart for all the staff are amazing and deserve all their jobs back when reopening happens in December or January 2026. I never met one staff member that wasn't amazing. These names aforementioned are just who we personally dealt with. God Bless all the staff they made this a truly great vacation. Highly recommend the ribeye and New York steak at Punta Vista with just salt and pepper. Chicken from the in room dining before 11pm. The coffee shop is amazing with the many selections of deserts. But I recommend the grilled ham sandwich from there.

Great first experience in Mexico. Loved that everything was included. This is a smaller resort and pretty quiet. We stayed 4 nights and that was plenty. The highlights were the spa (extra $, but worth it) the coffee shop (the gelato was yummy) beach access and the service. Everyone was so nice and helpful, almost too much. The biggest disappointment was the food and drinks. Just ok. We did enjoy the Cobb salad and the coconut shrimp at the Lola and the hibachi at Tempest. The buffet is a hard no. The drinks are very sugary and weak. Overall, great trip and for the price worth checking out. I do not feel the need to go back to this specific resort.

Amazing experience, the best I've ever had in Cancun. This service rates 11 out of 10, amazing food variety, entertainment, white sand beach with gorgeous water. All room are ocean view with balconies and perfect shower. Monica, Ana, Noel, Sebastian, Fabian, Brian and everyone else who made this experience so special! Thank you for your hospitality and accommodations, for cold water and towels and most of all your smiles! I traveled to Cancun many times before, but this resort has the highest bar now! Will recommend to everyone I know! Till we see you again

I really cannot say enough about the staff here From the invisibles to Ivan the waiter, onesio, my sweet angel Gabriel, yessica, Luis c, the things you do to make me Feel at hime beat what I encounter on the daily and I travel every week! I love you You are my people. I come froM A Service background for work so i hope you understand how much you mean to me!
I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. It's the best experience I've ever had at an all inclusive hotel. At the end of my stay, I did not want to leave. Sometimes all inclusive hotels can feel gimmicky, like being on a cruise ship or something. This was not that at all. This was a high end experience from start to finish. The hotel service and facilities are impeccable. I was blown away by the care they take to tend to each guest. I was only there for a few days and people took the effort to learn my name and my personal preferences. To start, the room was incredible. I stayed in a suite and it had a juccuzi right inside the room and an ocean view with a hammock. The room also came with a mini bar which was restocked daily (although you could also call and request anything at any time). Every day they had a different schedule of activities for guests with quality entertainment (not tacky acts). They had all all white party with a circus one day which was fun, a foam party, bull riding and more. The food deserves its own review. It exceed my expectations by a lot. They had several food options to choose from, including an Asian restaurant, a Mediterranean restaurant, a mexican restaurant a cafe and a global buffet. The restaurants were all open extended hours until 10 or 10:30 so there were always food options available. The global buffet did different themed dinners every night. Of the restaurants, I liked all but I'd say the Mediterranean was the most high quality. The preparation and taste was on par with any top NYC restaurant. The octopus dish was especially memorable. Second favorite was probably the Mexican restaurant. They have a chef from Oaxaca who makes a great mole. At each restaurant, the managers always made an effort to stop by my table to make sure I had what I needed. The employees genuinely care about serving you and they do it gladly. Sometimes you go to places where the employees are disgruntled or have a bad attitude. Not the case here at all. Everyone seemed generally happy and in a good mood. It felt like most of the people here were celebrating something, whether a bachelorette party or birthday, but it didn't feel overall raucous or anything. They had a silent disco one night and I think that also helped with any potential late night noise issues. I was really impressed with how well curated the schedule of activities was. Additionally, the hotel was very clean. When I first got in, people were mopping. They're constantly changing pool towels that are left out. Everything was spotless. The sheets were crisp and white. My room was changed to my liking. No complaints. One of the better places I've stayed. I would definitely come back in a heart beat. I loved it here! read more

Met amazing ppl!! Very clean!! There's a stench idk from where maybe all the seaweed? Pros: very hot water, plumbing on point!!! Housekeeping 100 The staff is very helpful!!! I wish I could think of everyone's name Oscar, Michelle!! The only thing I didn't care for us that the buffet only open for dinner Saturdays only the manager did get us into the hibachi that night!! The music at the poolside was trash maybe a request hour?? Idk- if you're looking for a party vibe skip this all inclusive adult Hyatt everything was dead by 4 everyday I did get to see several we'd done day I seen 4 so beautiful!!! No night activities except one evening they had a silent DJ during the day they had a few activities I did participate in bingo and some crafts!!! Tbh I shouldn't even be complaining I'm blessed I can go all over the world vacationing I'm in good health good job car and house going to these places seeing the workers everyday and night wearing different hats throughout the day smiling never complaining just makes me even more grateful but yeah Zilara was beautiful boring I'll never go back!!! read more

Of course. I only added Eddie into the service section and left everything else the same. I have gone back and forth on writing this review because there are so many things this resort does well, but overall my experience did not quite match the expectations I had from previous Hyatt stays. This was not my first visit to Hyatt Zilara Cancun and it was actually my amazing experience here in 2019 that started my loyalty to Hyatt. I am currently a World of Hyatt Discoverist member, and after my first visit to Zilara, we loved the Hyatt experience so much that we chose Hyatt Ziva for our vow renewal in 2022. Because of that, returning to Zilara was something I had looked forward to for years. First, the staff at this resort deserves so much recognition. My concerns are not a reflection of the employees because the service was consistently excellent throughout our stay. From before we even arrived to our final day, everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely wanted guests to have a great experience. Before our trip, Eddie reached out as our concierge and was extremely helpful in making sure we were prepared for our stay. He helped coordinate our spa services ahead of time and assisted us with securing a late checkout, which made our trip much smoother and more relaxing. At check-in, Luis helped us on the World of Hyatt side and was wonderful. He explained the changes and additions to the resort, helped us understand reservations, and made sure we had the information we needed. Throughout the resort, the service remained consistent. Even when I had a meal I didn't enjoy, a staff member at the teppanyaki restaurant was genuinely concerned, offered alternatives, and wanted to make it right. That level of care stood out. Our room was excellent. We stayed on the fifth floor in a corner room and it was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The bed was fantastic, and I loved the pillows so much I am actually trying to find out what kind they are so I can buy them for home. The bathroom was great, especially the mirror with multiple lighting options. The shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water, which I always appreciate. The only thing I personally missed was having a bathtub, but overall I had no complaints about the room. The resort itself is beautiful and extremely clean. The pool area is relaxing with comfortable chairs, and it was never difficult to find a place to sit. The atmosphere is definitely more quiet and relaxing rather than a party environment, which can be a positive depending on the type of trip you want. The beach was well maintained, especially considering the seaweed situation during our visit. The staff worked hard to keep it cleaned up, and the things outside of the resort's control, like weather and ocean conditions, did not impact my opinion. The spa was absolutely phenomenal and I wrote a separate review specifically for that experience because it deserves its own recognition. The gym was also impressive for a resort gym. There was plenty of equipment, treadmills, a stretching/yoga space, and even a Pilates studio. I was hoping to participate in Pilates, but the class filled up quickly. I thought the fitness offerings were a nice addition. Where this stay fell short for me was the food. At an all-inclusive resort, the food experience is such a huge part of the overall value because you are eating every meal on property. When we visited in 2019, one of our favorite memories was eating at Pelicanos by the pool, so we were excited to return there first. We knew things had changed since our last visit, but unfortunately the quality and options did not feel the same. We tried several restaurants, and while the service was always great, the food itself was disappointing. The Italian restaurant felt very bland overall, although the bread service and tiramisu were enjoyable. The cacio e pepe and pasta dishes did not meet expectations. The teppanyaki experience also was not what I expected. I was hoping for more of a traditional hibachi-style experience, and the meat quality was disappointing. The buffet was fine, especially breakfast, but nothing really stood out. Room service was quick and the staff was friendly, but again the food itself was not something we loved. My favorite treat on property ended up being the ice cream at the coffee shop. The biggest thing I missed was having easy poolside food options. When I'm at an all-inclusive, I love being able to relax by the pool and grab things like quesadillas, ceviche, or small bites without stopping the pool day. The lack of that type of experience was probably my biggest disappointment. Drinks and pool service were great, and the staff did a wonderful job checking on guests. I personally don't drink alcohol, but it was clear they were attentive with beverages. Entertainment was limited compared to some other all-inclusive resorts. There were some activities and a few performances, but not the larger read more

We stayed at this hotel and although the hospitality was exemplary our room left little to be desired. We did not have a functioning toilet our ENTIRE stay. My girlfriends and I were forced to use the public restrooms around the property. Even after repeated daily calls about the situation it was unresolved. Zero attempts to resolve the situation while we were there and ZERO compensation or credits were made after. Not only was upper management surprised when we informed them of the situation the only thing they're willing to do is upgrade our room THE NEXT time we decide to book with them which we are not. To spend the amount of money we spent for the spa day, chef's table, and tipping the staff in addition to the all inclusive rate then to not having a functioning toilet is humiliating and insulting. Not to mention the constant solicitation we had to endure EVERY SINGLE TIME we were exploring the property was simply too much and got to be annoying and intrusive. read more

Very nice hotel, great ambiance. However, there is a hard sell to buy a hotel membership. We were offered $200 in hotel credit to listen to the sale pitch. We were brought to a restaurant (before opening where we sat and waited for someone to take us to some secret place on the premises. Finally, we were lead to some members-only area. We were told it would take less than an hour. When we hit the two hour mark and still not knowing what the membership rates were, I made the decision that we were done and ended the session. We were immediately shut down and given the cold shoulder boot (just as well). To use our $200 credit, we made reservations for dinner on the beach since it was our anniversary. Then we ran into issues that the restaurant didn't know how to handle the credit, so we had to follow-up in the morning with the hotel. Restaurants - Very nice. Punta Vista has nice ocean views; Spice is buffett style and turned out to be our favorite. Great selection of fruits and breads. Asiana was a disappointment and limited dinner choices unless you wanted to take out a small loan for anything really worth while that was not part of the "all-inclusive" deal. Shows - Michael Jackson, Mexico night with the Mariachi singers was great. Overall, staff is very friendly for an adults-only all-inclusive. The room was very comfortable with nice views and pillows. Bed was almost as good as the one at home. Good experience, would come back without the hard sales pitch. read more

Dismal check in process at the club level. We were greeted and i asked to have my luggage with me so i could change. I was assured it would take only a few minutes so not to worry about it. We were given welcome drinks in the club lounge and told someone would be with us in a few minutes. So far so good. 30 min later no one had come over. 45 min later we inquired. We were told our room would be ready in 20 minutes and we could have our luggage at that point. Alright. 30 minutes later we were told our room would be ready in 45 minutes! This was well after 3pm at this point which i believe is their check in time We expected much more from this resort with stellar reviews. A rocky start to what hopefully will be a better experience! read more

Value for money, the Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya is a great option. We travelled with a group of six (three rooms total) and received a discount for booking early- total rate was +/- $200 per person per night. The rooms were extremely clean and well furnished, the hotel offers several restaurants and all day buffet style dining that are included in the room rate. The staff were very friendly and every request was accommodated easily. The pool and beach were both lovely; there is lively music playing all day at the pool so do not expect this to be a quiet resort during the day (at night it was very quiet and easy to sleep). The one downside to the hotel is the food quality is mediocre at most restaurants but considering it's all inclusive including alcohol it met our expectations given the very low rate we were offered. I would be open to returning to this hotel and recommend it for guests seeking an adults only all inclusive experience that offers clean, well furnished rooms and property, a great pool scene, beach front, and fun drinks / environment. read more
A solid 4.5 stars! This was my first time at an all-inclusive and they did not let us down. From the start of our check-in with Oscar, to the our bags being stored for departure, our experience truly was exceptional. The staff here cannot be duplicated, first and foremost! At check-in, Oscar provided us with a welcome drink of our choice. It could not have been more perfect timing. He then proceeded to give us a mini tour explaining the restaurant hours, options, where to book a reservation, and so-on. He went as far to escorting us to the elevator. Truly top-notch service. The reason for my four stars is simply because of the room being pretty outdated. I just wasn't expecting a bit of an older style but the room was very spacious nonetheless. Another downfall is that they utilize an iPad system for ordered room service, however, ours wouldn't turn on. I think the KEY factor here is that every room has an ocean view - absolutely stunning! After check-in, the bellman arrived while I was on facetime with my nephew. He was also fantastic! So kind and started to facetime with my nephew a bit too. Very personable. He gave us another quick rundown of the room itself and some of the amenities the property had to offer. Another downside, as other reviews mention, is that the restaurants close early and have semi-odd hours. The room service however was not a letdown (FYI, I will be reviewing the restaurants we visited separately so this can be a hotel-only review). We ordered room service on both nights and they delivered it within 15-20 minutes. I HIGHLY recommend their guacamole. It was the best I had the entire trip in Mexico. On our last morning, we were sure to visit the buffet so Jimena could make us the BEST Rancheros eggs and Chilaquiles. Truly delicious! Before we could even get to the restaurant with our bag, a bellman spotted us and stored them. What service! Honestly, every staff member you come across is grateful and puts their heart into what they do. You can feel it throughout the resort. I will say this was not the same case at the other property, Moon Palace, we traveled to mid-week. When you order a drink poolside, they were there minutes later and drinks were strong! read more

Till we see you again read more

Ended up stepping it up from some of the other resorts I've stayed out here in Cancun for a more relaxing vacation and booked this place cause of the reviews. Checking in - The process was seamless and arrived very early in the morning and they got us in early with a noon check in. Venue - Place is very nice and well kept up. The lobby is huge and they offer night shows, mixing them up each day. Bars - They have a few bars here with a ok selection of alcohol with Gray Goose and Din Julio Blanco being the better options. They do offer Red Bull and 1942 and others for a premium. They also have a separate bar that's a mixology bar that has some cool drinks also. Staff - People here are very nice and helpful from Checking in, rooms, pool, restaurants and any service needed. Rooms - We had one of the rooms that wasn't on the main building but it was huge with a huge patio with great Oceanview, jacuzzi tub, and fridge stocked with beers and waters. Pool - Simple but functional only downside the pool bar didn't extend to the fun section of the pool area so you would have to get up to grab drinks. They also had activities that made it fun to watch and participate during the day. Food - The quality of the food and options has by far exceeded the level from any other all inclusive place I have stated at and was amazing to have good quality food everyday. Also this place is 18 n up and makes it great to not have to deal with kids screaming or roaming around. I have those at home lol. Overall it's a great resort and would highly recommend it and would stay here again. read more

This is a 10-star resort. The staff make this hotel the best in Cancun. The rooms, food, pools, entertainment, cleanliness, SPA, cabanas, room service and concierge services are IMPECCABLE. The only problem is we did not stay long enough!! Punta Vista was my favorite restaurant, the SPA was mind blowing and the poolside FREE massages were wonderful. We can't wait to go back. Absolute paradise if you are looking for an adults only all-inclusive experience!!!! I met so many wonderful and hospitable people at Zilara, they are happy to take the best care of you! Thank you, Wendy, Luis, Yanira, Gladys & Brian for all you do. If I could have memorized every single name I would have included them all!! read more

Amazing property, room, staff, beach, and food! The entertainment was also amazing. Room was luxurious and the view of the pool and ocean was spectacular. Incredible food every meal. Totally recommend! read more
5 stars all around!!! Had such an incredible experience here and built such amazing memories and friendships. Who would have thought! This is an all-inclusive, adults-only resort with 2 massive pools, 7 incredible restaurants & a private beach with views for days. We had so much fun here that we barely ended up leaving our hotel, and we are typically the adventurous type, we love to explore. We had so much fun at the pool all day. We met so many fun couples at the bar and we all ended up meeting up every day at the pool, had endless drinks at the amazing pool bar, played pool volleyball and other pool games, cleaned up in the evenings for nice dinners together at night, partied on the beach, and so much more! The hotel staff were AMAZING and all the bar tenders at the pool bar were just WOW. They all got to know us pretty well and hooked it up like crazy! The room was great and super clean with an incredible view. The restaurant options were impressive. We really hated having to leave this resort to check out other places outside of it haha! I can't wait to come back here one day! read more
Another stay at the Hyatt Zilara calls for a review update! This time, my experience was downgraded to 3 stars. We also found out that management changed, so this could be the reason. Similar to last time, I still feel that the grounds and the room receive high marks. The pool / beach area is impeccably clean and beautiful. There are two spacious pools and it's not hard to find a lounge chair. Cabanas were a bit tougher, but you never feel like you are scrambling to find any sort of outdoor space, which is not always the case at a resort this large. All of the rooms are ocean facing and have a balcony with a hammock. They are spacious and have a jacuzzi tub inside which is fun. The only real downside of the room is the bed... both the mattress and pillows were super hard. We stayed at the Marriott in Cancun directly before the Hyatt and that bed was much comfier and softer. Unfortunately, there are a few areas where Hyatt Zilara really misses the mark: -There are only two speciality sit down restaurant options for dinner. The food at both is not great. Last time I stayed here they had a third option that was really nice (and included) and this time it was an extra charge. If we were staying for more than two nights I would have been tempted to eat off the resort, which is frustrating given the high nightly charge. I've stayed at Secrets (also in the hotel zone) and they have several quality sit down restaurants included in the price. -A Caribbean all inclusive vacation is supposed to be relaxing, right? From the moment we stepped foot into the hotel until the moment we left we were harassed to spend money. You couldn't get a towel without being asked if you were ready to book an excursion. You couldn't sit on a lounge chair without being asked if you wanted to pay extra for a premium cabana or a massage at the spa. They really need to chill with this. At one point I actually needed to ask someone to leave me alone. -There is no bathroom at the pool level, so you'll need to go down the beach and walk through the sand or walk through the hotel lobby. -All rooms are equipped with an iPad where you can scroll through the room service menu, restaurant menus, etc. Our room didn't have one, and when we called to ask for one it took several hours bring it to us. They also did not replenish the beer in the fridge. There are definitely things that I can overlook -- but the biggest turn off was the aggressive staff. I understand the need to make sales, but management should reevaluate how they ask their staff to go about this. Though the grounds are beautiful I probably wouldn't return because of that and the low quality food. read more
Zilara is an all-inclusive, adults-only resort located toward the end of the hotel zone. Not to be confused with its family-friendly sister property (Ziva), Zilara's guests must be 18 years or older. The property is well-kept and clean. Throughout the day, employees are constantly cleaning, re-painting, and maintaining the grounds to upkeep its immaculate appearance. There are 6 restaurants available for dinner; 2 for lunch and breakfast. My faves were Maria Marie (gourmet Mexican) and Pelicano's (Mediterranean). Room service also provides a good selection and is available 24/7. Your food will arrive in 30 minutes or less. They had a pool party on Friday, and we rented a cabana for $169. It comes with champagne & a seafood platter that includes: lobster, shrimp, calamari, scallops, mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. We thought it was going to be bigger portion, but it was still worth it. The five of us ate it all before the show started. The party was so much fun! Shoutout to the two guys at the coffee shop. They were so friendly, and made an extra effort to ensure that we enjoyed our food and drinks. They even packed us some goodies and cold bottles of water when we told them that we were going to Chichen Itza (so kind). Spectacular views, friendly staff, and delicious food! We had such a great time! If you decide to go, please remember to tip the staff. We noticed that a lot of guests were not tipping :( They do a wonderful job and were extremely appreciative of our tips. Enjoy! read more
For what it is it deserves 4 stars. I did not love it and won't be going back but it did deliver for the price point. All inclusive adult only (18+) and all the rooms have ocean facing views. There are swim up room options as well as larger suites. We had an upper floor ocean front room. There was an older jacuzzi tub in the living room that we didn't use. The bed was nice and newer, decent size balcony with a gorgeous view as well. 827 had a huge and pretty private balcony and we were there for a few nights. Unfortunately I like my A/C a lot and on the top floor it was impossible to get it cooler than 73 even late at night. We moved down to 530 which I think is a more standard balcony and view and had several balconies and even some windows within view so not nearly as private. The restaurants were all good. Asiana and their menu did not disappoint. Maria Maria was also delicious. The bars were all a bit of a bummer once the pool bar closed at 6 the lobby bar picked up but no AC makes this girl not last long. This place has a not a late night party spot. I was surprised by the number of larger groups. I would not go back here for a romantic get away. Even the "quiet" side of the pool was over run by large groups. The spa was lovely. We had a couples massage and did the water experience which I loved! It's dry sauna, hot sauna, jacuzzi, cold plunge and then a regular pool with different water features. The wet sauna is no joke. Hottest ever by far. I'm walking but can't do stairs so this is my perspective- Accessibility was only ok. Lobby bathroom was not actually accessible for a walker much less a wheelchair, although I didn't ask if there was one somewhere else that was. I did appreciate walk in showers with handheld shower head. There are ramps on both sides of the lobby level to get to the pool area stair free and there is a ramp down to the beach as well. There was no pool lift that I saw and only two sets of stairs with full railings, one on each side. No shallow beach entry or ramp or anything unfortunately. Staff were all very kind and helpful. Mango daiquiris were on point. Cabanas were cool, just get a free one off to the side unless you are going to spend all day at the pool. It's $69 a day to rent one of the close in cabanas as of 7/2023. read more

We were so excited to try the adults only Zilara after a few years of staying at Ziva (which we LOVE). Since these are both Hyatt hotels, we assumed they were sister properties and that the food and service levels would be the same, if not better, considering it's adults only. This was not the case. Short version of my review if you're trying to choose between the two: spend a little more and go to Ziva. Stay in the Turquoize tower if adults only is important to you. Zilara does not compare even a little bit to Ziva. There are five restaurants. A buffet, Mediterranean restaurant, hibachi, and two Mexican restaurants which we thought was a little odd. It would have been nice to have an Italian or French option or even a steakhouse. There is a restaurant by the beach that serves personal pizzas you can take back to your lounge chair. The buffet was surprisingly very small. They do have some food stations near the pool during lunch. Overall the food was just okay. Honestly I think we liked the room service more than the restaurant food! The sports bar is fun but only serves drinks. It would be great if they offered bar food - burgers, wings, nachos etc, just to have another food option. The pool is okay. It is split in half by a walkway, so if you're on the right side of the pool, you have to get out and walk to the other side to get to the pool bar. It would be nice if they connected the two pools underneath the bridge so you could cross without having to get out. There was a foam party with a dj while we were there which was fun. The bar on the beach is unimpressive which is sad because it would make an awesome beach bar! It would be awesome to have some sort of hanging chair or hammock bar stool seat. The oceanfront suite we had was very nice. We loved the huge shower with jets on the wall and the hammock on the balcony. The mini bar in the rooms only has beer, no little vodka or tequila bottles which seems weird considering all other resorts we have stayed at offered at least one or the other. We've always loved getting to know the servers and bartenders, however we found that none of them really seemed interested in getting to know us. At other resorts we've made some close friends with bartenders that we still follow on social media! Everyone here was just going through the motions and were very uninterested in having a conversation longer than taking our order. Overall we were pretty disappointed with this property. We personally love Hyatt (even a previous Hyatt employee here!), and have never had issues with any of their properties, but I'm not sure that we'll be back to this one. There is a lot of room for improvement and I hope they are able to do that because it has the potential to be a really great property. read more
The place is awesome!!! The location is great for a weekend end get away!!! The room was like a palace and with a hot tub in it!!!! The shower was like a car wash with so many choices. Room service rocked and the open bars was no joke. The icing on the cake was the evening shows while dinning. For the outside fun was so many choices from private cabanas to Parasailing. There are also day trip to Cenotes to swim in underwater caves. We did four and one had a zip line drop in. Speaking of zip lines we did four trek, what fun we had doing it all. We took an Uber to the Cenotes but there was a no single to go back to the hotel. One of the team members from the Cenotes have us a ride to the next town get a signal for the Uber pick up. Don't pay a Taxi cause it will cost a lot more. They only reason they did not get a 5 star rating was the hot tub jets were not that strong, Like I always saw try it you may just like it. read more

I write this review with a caveat: I despise all-inclusive hotels. I only stay at one if I'm pressured to do so by friends. All that said, this was the best all-inclusive I've visited. I stayed here for 4 days in November. Rather than write a lengthy post, I'll quickly share my pros and cons for this property. Pros: * The food is not terrible. The best restaurants are Pelicanos and La Adelita Cantina. * The bartenders at the swim-up pool bar are skilled and generous with their pours. * There are plenty of activities and fitness options to explore. * It's adults-only!!! Cons: * Despite operating at reduced capacity, there were still too many people clustered near the beach and pool for my linking. But I was one of those fools who traveled during a pandemic, so that's on me. * Like most all-inclusives from major hotel chains, this property lacked innovative design and decor. I'd trade the abundance of food and mediocre drinks for captivating architecture that uses sustainable materials that are native to the Quintana Roo area. * There is very little to do nearby because it's surrounded by other massive hotels. read more
Such a beautiful resort. From the second you walk all the staff members greet you with smiles. It is placed on a perfect section of the beach. The water is extremely crystal clear and further out has the best blues I have seen. What made them lose a star are the restaurants. Although almost all of the food was good, there are times during the middle of the day that they are ALL closed. I also did not like that you cannot order food by the pools. The buffet at Spice and the tepanyaki at Asiana are musts!! The hotel was also very dead. As it's adults only we expected it to be more lively. If you want a relaxing, quiet vacation come here. Do not recommend for a bachelorette weekend!! read more

There are not enough words to adequately express our gratitude to Gardenia, Laura, and Vianez for treating us so well at Spice each day. We met Gardenia at Spice in December 2022 and knew instantly that we'd want to come back to Cancun to see her as often as we could. Not once did our drinks get below half full because she consistently checked on our needs throughout our meals. Never intruding or hovering, but constantly eyeballing each table she was assigned to ensure guests had the very best service. When we'd walk in, the hostesses (Laura & vianez) would greet us with a warm smile and always remembered Gardenia was our only choice of server for breakfast & lunch. (I want to emphasize that EVERY server at Spice is fantastic, but Gardenia is our girl.) We never had to open a door for ourselves, never waited more than 30 seconds to be seated. Truly incredible service all the way around. We truly appreciate their hard work and dedication to pleasing every guest at the hotel. Each night we ate dinner at Asiana. My husband could not love their sushi more. We did not catch his name, but the man who hand rolls the sushi each night is fantastic. Our servers Martin & Julio were incredible and once again our drinks never got below half before a fresh water was on its way. The manager of Asiana was also incredibly attentive. He checked on each table to ensure the service and food was up to par. The Teppanyaki experience is something everyone should make reservations for at least once. The food is amazing & the show is too! After dinner, we often went to Spice afterwards so that I could finish eating dinner (I am super picky and do not eat sushi, ha!). Uriel was just as amazing as everyone else we encountered. He kept my drinks filled & offered to bring me more food so that I didn't have to get up. The shows & parties were a blast. We are NOT "party people" but nothing was ever too wild or loud. We enjoyed watching the dancing & singing every day and the foam party was a blast! The dance competition was THE BEST and the host of the dance party was SO MUCH FUN. Our server at the beach cabana was Eloisa and she was fantastic! Checked on us every 5-10 minutes and never let us run out of ice cold waters! Diana led an abs circuit I attended and was so encouraging and helpful throughout the workout. Another class I attended was yoga & to my surprise - the class completely immersed the attendees into the Mayan culture which was incredible. We had instruments, burning oils, and were able to participate in Mayan rituals before yoga began. I wish this would've been offered every single day because I wouldn't have missed any of the classes! I hope when we return the Mayan yoga experience is a daily event! It's amazing to be able to immerse yourself into the culture in Cancún. Unfortunately, we had to eventually check out. David John grabbed our luggage from us in the lobby and ensured that it was safe while we waited on our transport. He was so kind and explained exactly what would happen with our luggage and if we needed anything between check out and departing to let him know! Great guy! The bars, restaurants, etc were open to us even after checking out. We were allowed access until we officially left the property. read more

I am not a world traveler and this was my first experience with an all-inclusive hotel. I am the type of person that when I find something that I enjoy it is hard for me to go a different direction in the future. Lets just say I was already plotting my return trip to the Hyatt Zilara before I hit the pool for the first time. Pro's - Only 25,000 World of Hyatt points per night for 2 adults. - Staff - The staff was always friendly and helpful. Each person felt as if they were truly happy to be there and help you enjoy your vacation. The resort was beautiful and clean. There are a lot of restaurant options and they were even willing to cater to me as a picky eater. - Free poolside cabanas overlooking the ocean. I never thought I'd see the day where I spent the majority of a vacation sitting by/in the pool doing absolutely nothing and enjoying it. - 24 hour room service included. I mean who doesn't like dessert after a long hard day of lounging at the pool. Cons (Trust me when I say I am really digging deep here.) - Directions and clarity around COVID testing. The fact that they offer it is great, but when you go to the testing area there are not any clear instructions as to what you are supposed to do to check in, get scheduled, etc. - Lunch Buffet as Spice. I found Spice to be better for breakfast. It felt like the food was not as fresh during the lunch hours, even though there was a wide selection. - Soda - for some reason the sodas from the bar and at some restaurants always tasted off, almost like a diet soda. Not sure what the deal was there, but the cans of soda in the mini-bar tasted great. - Slippery floors - No matter how dry you think you got your feet it felt like you were taking your life and limb in your own hands. Just be super careful, especially when getting out of the in room jacuzzi tub. Nobody wants to test their medical insurance availability in Mexico. read more
SPEECHLESS I was a bit skeptical of an all inclusive, however this location was perfect. I was beyond pleased with service, Ingrid at concierge would go above and beyond. Alfredo at punta vista was always very nice, explained menu and fast. Resorts has @7 different restaurants, all great food, cooked to order, the waiter will always greet asking if any allergies. This place truly made us feel at home. Location: 5+ star the views were priceless Staff: 5+ star, everyone will greet you at all times, assure you were taken care. Bilingual, English/Spanish Food: 5+ star, I would try new restaurant everyday and new food, always pleased Parking: valet Lifeguards: 5+, we were at red flag current and needed the use of the lifeguards, they were quick to get our team from water COVID: mask not require but encourage, if you don't have any you can ask and will be provided. General manager Milan was beyond awesome. He will take the time to make sure everyone was enjoying their vacation. read more

All the staff here are wonderful. after 5 days we could have stayed longer, which is rare for me. what we enjoyed the most was adults only and a smaller resort. we made some great friends here.... the beach here is the bomb !! had drinks in the ocean... another first !! would be happy to return here. almost forgot about the sunrises from our balcony, every morning was stunning. read more

This place was 10/10- coming from San Diego I wasn't sure if it would be nicer because we are used to the beaches and beautiful weather. However this all inclusive adults only is the best hotel ever. The customer service is unbelievable. They make you feel so welcome, no one was ever rude. The food was delicious and not all buffet style. The sand was so soft and white and the warm bath water ocean was amazing. The view from our suite was spectacular just listening to the real Sound of the ocean every morning. In short: this place is amazing. Stay here. In much further detail: you can't go wrong with staying here. The check in process is easy and quick, they'll ask you if you want to add a spa package or Covid insurance (for a small price it covers additional nights at the resort in case you test positive). Other than that it's pretty straight forward and sippin on your first 'rum punch' pool side. (Highly recommend asking for that drink). I highly recommend you tip everyone that provides some sort of service for you. If we were staying at the pool for a while we gave our server $20 for the day and they provided excellent service the entire day. We also tipped after ordering a coffee or eating at any of the restaurants including the buffet. Please tip people!! My favorite breakfast place was the buffet (and coffee shop for coffee), and then Maria Marie for dinner. Although, all of it was amazing. This resort is a perfect place to finally experience what true relaxation means. I seriously never knew that feeling was until I came here. Thank you to everyone at Hyatt Zilara for the wonderful experience! We will definitely be back. read more

Hyatt was perfect from beginning to end. It's obviously an older establishment, but it's well maintained. Our room had slight mildew smell, but it wasn't too bad. I figured it's because Cancun itself is so humid. I was just glad that the floors weren't carpeted. The toiletry items are ok. The fridge was stocked with soda, beer, and water. There's also a nespresso machine with some pods and snacks. Of course, the best part of the room was the hot tub overlooking the ocean. Our room was "ocean view" and not "ocean front" but it still was marvelous. We were on the third floor so it was only slightly obstructed with palm trees. The balconies are very close together and we had to quickly close the curtains whenever our neighbors were out on the balcony. You get a beautiful direct view of the sun, and the black-out curtains are very helpful in the morning. I think the best part of the hotel is the service. All the employees are very hard working and they greet you pleasantly wherever you go. They are constantly looking to see if you need another drink or the next food item. Kudos to Cesar, who served us twice at Maria Marie and La Cantina Adelita. He went above and beyond in making our meals so enjoyable. The manager at the restaurant was also friendly, respectful, and helpful. The hotel essentially has 4 restaurants. It's my first time in Cancun and I chose Hyatt Zilara after reading all the reviews on google and yelp that talked about the excellent food. The food definitely did not disappoint. My favorite restaurant was Maria Marie even though the view is not as good as Punta Vista. Top items I got at Maria Marie were: lobster and beef tostadas, octopus with mole, and pumpkin dessert. Punta Vista had great fish with risotto and steak. Teppanyaki was also very enjoyable and tasty. I actually didn't expect to much from Spice, the international buffet, but it was actually amazing! Breakfast is pretty much the same daily, but they have different items/theme everyday for other meals. I didn't care too much about drinks, but they were all to the point! The drinks are properly made (and not watered down), and the bartenders are very prompt. They keep your glass flowing at restaurants and the pool. They have amazing well-crafted cocktails at Maria Marie and Mixology Lab. I can tell the hotel is making an effort to care about the environment because they have reusable plastic cups (for outdoor drink), no straws, and having reusable bottles of shampoo and conditioner. One of the perks at Zilara is that you have activities planned throughout the day. My boyfriend and I went to our first pilates and yoga class, pottery class, and tequila and wine tasting class. They always had some sort of performance to watch at night. One of my favorite event was the "Mexican kermes." I think I had THE best al pastor tacos and churros on that night. Hyatt Zilara had everything: great food and drinks, service, views, and comfort. read more

My partner and I spent Christmas week at the all inclusive Hyatt Zolara Riviera Maya" this past December and found our experience all over the map! First there are a lot of lovely things about this place. The Spa, some of the restaurants, most of the staff that works there, gorgeous swim-up room, and entertainment. Unfortunately there are several issue with our stay that makes us believe that we will probably not be going back to this resort. We talked to many other couples there and this is the general consensus. Here is a list of the good things: Good food at Coffee Republic and Tempest Amazing Mixologists! And very friendly and courteous. Lots of fun. If the whole resort was light The Social and Coffee Republic, it would have been amazing! We loved The Social Bar in the lobby. The Spa Staff and overall beauty of the Spa was wonderful. Ana (water Aerobics) was wonderful Bianca (pool), Elida (El Comodore) were great. Exceptional treatment by Edgar (Concierge) after our injury at the pool. The highest compliments to Andres (lifeguard) who came to our room twice to clean and dress our injury. Loved the Coatis and other wildlife. The Room was gorgeous. Beach huts and towels were great. Vegan Burger at Lola Beach was great. And here is the ugly: Ordered room service and it did not come 1st morning. Received a phone call offering a $200 credit if we came to the front desk, which we wrongfully assumed was due to room service breakfast which didn't arrive, but in actuality, the $200 was a coupon book for the upcharge items, which we would only receive after speaking to someone about the timeshare/other resort "excursion" they wanted to take us on. We did not appreciate being pressured and tricked by the timeshare salespeople. Before going to speak to the front desk, I asked if this had anything to do with timeshares, and the person at the front desk said 'No". We went down and found out that it did. That turned us off for the rest of our stay. Subsequent times we ordered Room Service from the app, it did not come without a followup phone call. Was treated rudely by Omar (Butler, Pool Staff) after suffering an injury at the pool, Top step of pool was not marked which led to injury, Expected fresh tortillas and house made guacamole, Limited vegetarian options. Terrible hamburger and pizza at Lola Beach Mediocre food at El Comodore, Capri Grill Legends Sports Bar smelled and was depressing. Games were out of order. Ms. Pacman was falling apart, Upcharges were terrible and annoying. Hot tub was not hot enough. The Spa was somewhat disappointing because the Sauna and Steam Room was not hot enough and we were told that there was a 5 minute maximum to stay in each. Terrible lighting and mediocre Sushi at the Sushi Bar. No vegetarian options. read more

I have been to this resort a dozen times and the last two stays showed me that this resort is no longer worth the expense. As the years have gone by they have simply realized that they can match the quality of the lowest quality all inclusives and still get people to stay there. The staff even commented that since so many people use points to stay, they can match the amenities of lower quality resorts and still profit. I have stayed in the same swim up suite for the last five years. This past February I arrived to find that they have removed the steam shower from the master bath (they didn't replace or repair the shower; they just ripped the unit out and caulked the space), they have removed the in room liquor and wet bar (they claim too many people were drinking too much so they did it for liability reasons), they removed the Bose sound system so there is no music in the suites unless you have a really good laptop, they removed the DVD players (which ruined my ability to show a wedding DVD; the reason for this trip), they removed the gaming system, the toilet was broken, the phone was broken, the AC never got below 76 in the room. Despite having the cabinet for room service delivery so you don't have to be dressed or greet staff, they now bang on the door incessantly for 10 minutes followed by multiple calls to the room so they can try and extract a tip from you. When checking in, the "interview" where they learn about your likes and dislikes so the room can be stocked to your liking has been stopped. The "Butler" service has been removed as well. The "non-smoking" property is no longer enforced and in fact ashtrays have been installed everywhere. Basically this is no different than any other all inclusive except they expect $700-800 a night for a basic room with no amenities added. When checking in, I selected a room for my travel companions directly above me so we could easily see each other. When they arrived they were put on the opposite side of the property with no explanation and no attempt to correct it. All attempts to fix the numerous problems in my suite alone were pathetic and band aids. In fact, the toilet was "fixed" by removing the wall plate for the push button controls and simply jury rigging a temp handle. This was a nightmare and I will NEVER return to this property read more

My stay at Hotel Zilara in Cancun was nothing short of a nightmare. My wife and her friend fell victim to a harrowing incident - they were drugged during our stay. What makes matters worse is the appalling response we received from the night manager, Diego. Instead of providing the support and urgency the situation demanded, Diego callously blamed the victims, insinuating that they were merely intoxicated. This dismissive attitude in the face of such a serious and potentially dangerous situation was not only unprofessional but downright reprehensible. As a result of this horrifying incident, my wife required immediate medical attention and was rendered unable to wake or speak for hours. The gravity of the situation was blatantly ignored by the hotel staff, revealing a shocking lack of empathy and responsibility. This experience has left me utterly appalled at the negligence displayed by Hotel Zilara. It's disheartening to think that a place meant to provide comfort and security could fail so miserably in prioritizing the well-being of its guests. I strongly caution anyone considering this establishment to think twice. The blatant disregard for the safety and dignity of guests, as demonstrated by the actions of Diego and the hotel staff, is a serious cause for concern. My hope is that by sharing this experience, others may be spared from the distress and potential danger that awaits at Hotel Zilara in Cancun. read more

I feel that every single day has been a struggle with staff, and a disappointment consistently. Check in, loungers at the pool, dinners...... I could go on and on, but it is the attitude given over and over again that just continues to ruin the experience day after day. We just sat down for our dinner at Asiana after waiting since we got here on Saturday only to be told we couldn't order sushi. After having to insist we were told we could only order sushi if we moved tables. They moved us 3 feet away to another table.... Every single day has felt like this entire hotel group is trained to say no instead of yes. Consistently poor experience after poor experience and we will not be returning to any properties run by Playa Hotels & Resorts. We only booked the Zilara after our reservation at the Ziva(managed by this same hotel group) turned into a 3 hours on the phone with rude staff before we ever arrived. I would warn anyone looking to stay at any property about the attitude that is clearly reflective of management decisions, and a culture of saying no to almost any reasonable request. read more

During the foam pool party a male resident of the hotel came up behind me, grabbed me and stuck his hands down the back of my bathing suit. The situation sent me into a panic attack. When I went to the hotel manager, he treated me as if it were somehow my own fault and implied that I should feel lucky he was not going to kick me out of his hotel. Ladies, watch out for the slime-balls at this hotel, it's apparently crawling with them. Needless to say, this type of action towards women is absolutely not acceptable no matter what your status and I will not be returning. *Please be careful out there ladies. Apparently quite a few reviewers think this type of situation is "funny". Goes to show who you'll be boarding with. Best read more

Waste of money. Should have stayed somewhere else. Overpriced. Staff is practically begging for tips. Run down common areas. Water damaged floors in the main entryway. AC is non existent in the rooms. Advertises in room minibars stocked with liquor only to find they have been stripped clean for "safety reasons". Asked them to changes linens halfway through a 10 days stay due to sunscreen and sweat and marked one to make sure it was done after pulling them off the bed only to find them put back on by housekeeping. Gotta wonder if they do that between guests too. Will NOT be returning. read more

We had a fantastic week at the Hyatt Zilara. Everything was perfect: our ocean front suite, the food and many on-site restaurant choices, the drinks and super hotel staff. Particular special mention for our stay goes to the following staff for their excellent service: Guadalupe, Gabriel, Isai, Rigoberto, Daniel, & Armando. We can't wait to go back. read more

One of the most beautiful resorts in Mexico! The only thing to surpass the service was the amazing views. The people were extra friendly and clearly made customer service a priority. The concierge was helpful from the moment we entered the property until the time we checked out. I would absolutely return. read more

Hermoso y bonito!

The most awful discrimination experience of my life. Do not go there unless you are Hispanic or you will get singled out. You will get blamed for things you didn't do, and you will have room charges for damaged property you didn't damage. read more
