She came before her scheduled time on each visit and developed such a great relationship with my father. She bathed him, took him for walks, ironed his clothes, made his bed, arranged for his food and had great conversation with him. She was an Angel and having someone like her to care for my father was something I will never forget. We received a call from a caretaker who could hardly speak enough English to tell us what hospital he was taken to. We told her to have the RN call us immediately. It has been four days and we have still not heard from waltonwood higher ups or medical staff, including the executive director we asked to have contact us. We went to get some things from his place and saw the room had been totally rearranged, including bad attempts at cleaning up the puddles of blood from his fall. Please remember that our grandfather is immobile, and it is not like he could even roll or attempt to fall off the bed. I think there is a strong reason as to why Waltonwood is silent, and per my last review I can only hope families of residents and potential ones see this.

It would be five stars but the food and dining room service is AWFUL. I emailed several times to the "chef" and director with zero response. Tracey manages independent living and she is very nice but not empowered to make any changes. For $6-$7k a month they can afford to pay their staff better and get a real chef. I've had experience with other PT providers (MedStar, Inova). So my review is by comparison. There were good therapists and trainers in the other PT centers also, of course. But Julia Smith at Restore in Ashburn is exceptional in her attention, expertise, and focus on the patient's needs. I had issues with my back and knees (osteoarthritis) as well as a strained hamstring injury. With the therapy, I managed to reduce the pain, build up strength, and also work on flexibility. Kate at reception is always friendly, helpful, and tries to find slots and fit the patient's time preferences as well as needs to travel or take breaks for other reasons. Unlike some of the other providers, it's not impossible to quickly arrange an appointment to fix an in-person evaluation and agree on a training schedule.

In the on-going saga that my medical issues have become, I have once again needed services from a…read morehome health agency. From the beginning, Actual Care has been fantastic. The regular nurse really cares about my situation and has helped advocate for doctors to get things done when I'm not being listened to. I have not been restricted to my home and unable to leave as I was with the other agency, and this group does not care if I continue to see my regular physicians. The group has understood that I needed to work, which results in some late hours, but they have also been flexible enough to let me meet up with a friend from out of town that I do not get to see very often. When you are sick, little things like going out with friends or being able to work make a huge difference in mental health. I am always able to reach the nurse who comes to my home when there is an issue, and she has come to my house a few times that she wasn't scheduled because the bandages leaked or came apart. I think, most importantly, the company listens to me and follows orders from the doctor. I have needed their services 3 times since November 2011, and chosen to go back to Actual Care each time. I have also recommended them to the doctor's offices and will continue to do so.
