Went to Moon Valley, Avondale, knowing exactly the tree I wanted and bought it. The crew came to plant and deliver. There were wires and pipes underground in the way,they were very persistent in finishing the job. I was so disappointed when they left as what I thought I wanted to accomplish was not even close! SO at this point, what to do. Ashley called the next morning to see if I was pleased with my choice and the job. She told me to come in and together we would figure it out. The Avondale location is hands down the best. We went in with an issue with one of the trees they had planted, Eric Dutcher helped us diagnose the problem, he is very knowledgable. Second interaction with Moon Valley. First was excellent, got some lovely trees planted, everything went well. Then, over summer, or shade trees died (may have had something to do with children having fun with the drip system), so we called, having purchased the warranty. Quick side note: I usually never purchase the extended warranty for things, but I can't fix trees. Totally recommend the warranty. Called up, spoke to Troy Ford, and sent some pics of the very dead trees. He asked if we wanted to pick out new trees, but we let him choose. Planting was scheduled within 1 week. Planting team, led by Ben, called ahead, were right on time, got the new trees planted, mulched, watered, and everything cleaned up better than when they got to the yard. We couldn't be happier with the service we've gotten both times working with Moon Valley, and wholeheartedly recommend them to any looking to buy trees. read more

My mission was to pick up some additional moon dust and moon juice. I had also taken a small branch from my tipu tree. Alex noted the branch and asked if I had additional concerns...which in fact I did. I have had a woodpecker visiting the tree for the past year and am concerned of some type of infestation. He gave me an email address to send pictures of the tree in the hope of diagnosing the issue. I look forward to hearing back. read more

*** UPDATE TO MY REVIEW BELOW - Was told timing was good for planting due to monsoon season and have had 3 of my less expensive plants die. Contacted Moon Valley and the 3 year warranty is not for full replacement, it is for 1/2 the value of the plant and 1/2 installation. I spent $1500 on plants and $120 worth have died, you think they would cover that. So I go to Home Depot and can buy the same plants they sold me, twice as big, for half the price! To compound things, realized that Moon Valley cut into some ground wire during installation shorting out 1/2 of my backyard lighting system. Not happy. Since I live in Goodyear, I was looking for some design advice for my backyard about three years ago. I gave Moon Valley a shot and they referred me to their in-house design consultant who was awful, trying to upsell me every step of the way and not putting real thought into placement. I haven't been back since then yet also never pulled the trigger on my yard. Since my yard renovation was long overdue, I decided to give them another shot. I met with Zac and was thrilled about his background, vision, and thoughtful consideration of plant placement within my budget based on pictures I provided. He even came to my house to help point out where each plant should go. He is the real deal. Before my delivery, received follow up call from enthusiastic customer service manager to confirm the order. Then Adam and his crew showed up on time for the install of about 20 plants and 2 trees. Adam made sure I was happy with positioning of every plant. A few were off a bit and without a word had his team dig it up and move them to the right place. Whoever is running this division of Moon Valley deserves kudos for building a great team and executing on their service model. I will definitely be back. read more

Warning !!!!! Employees are very confident but have no ability or Knowledge to help you. I purchased with employee recommendation 2 large Ficus Nitida trees for my 25k+ improvement to my backyard. They slowly burnt and died within a short period in summer of 2016.I did follow instructions from Moon Valley Employees.[water more,water less].They do push MOON JUICE constantly, they sale for $39.99,you can buy any nursery box store for $6.I asked what would be a tree that would easily survive in my area,the most hardy,they suggested Queen Palms and Pigmy Date Palms.I traded trees (with more $] for 11 Palms,Today 7/17 I have 2 palms that look like they might survive and 5 that are just about dead,the rest are gone and thrown away.My backyard is very nice with pool,hard scape,outdoor lighting,gazebos,plants,But stuck with brown and dead palm trees. If new to area do not take advice from Moon Valley Nursery,Get advice from many other landscapers other nurseries in area,educate yourself as I now have.All say moon Valley is the very last place they would use. read more

We spent almost $3,000 on a few trees, Daniel was extremely helpful to pick the right fruit trees that my daughters and I wanted. He took his time to make sure we pick the right one that we liked how we liked it what are the good things that we need to look for as far as trying to get the right information and get the right trees that we liked and some other plants. Daniel was amazing so totally recommend working with him. The problem for me was the planting crew. I thought they would be more careful, they were very quick offcourse they were very pleasant. I was told they would make sure the watering lines are near the trees. That was not the case at all they dug right thru the lines, when it went off the water was shooting every where else but the trees. I was quite disappointed considering the amount of money that was spent we would have hoped they would have paid a little more attention. They planted aloe plants there was a misunderstanding in regards location. I did ask him to move because it was not where I wanted them. They moved it the one guy came and started kicking the rocks back and that aloe plant is not thriving turning brown. It's just disappointing to spend all that money on plants and have such a bad job planting it. Next time might just go to a different nursery and plant my own trees. read more

So I went with Moon Valley because of their 12 month no interest financing options. This let me get my landscaping project started without having to purchase everything up front. I worked with Deborah Byrne for the landscaping portion and Mark Iusi for the hardscaping. They both did a great job and were easily available to answer any questions I had. Even with a couple of hiccups they fixed whatever problems that happened. I highly recommend working with both of these individuals. read more

Moon Valley designed and planted over $5000 worth of plantings, a new timer and new irrigation system. Over half of the plants died due to time of planting and their faulty irrigation system. After continual pressure they replaced some, but not all, of the dead plants stating that some had a transplant set back. We then ordered additional trees, yet they subsequently refused to replace a new tree which promptly died, nor would they do anything about the transplanted plants previously mentioned. While other nurseries give you a ONE YEAR warranty, Moon Valley's warranty is only 90 days . We recommend that you go elsewhere for better quality nursery stock, irrigation systems, landscape plans and customer service. read more

Over all experience was good but I purchased a 30 to 40' Sisso tree and when it got delivered they had hacked off a lot of the foliage and branches that really spread the tree out for good shade. So if you purchase a large tree make sure you understand how it's going to arrive and what modifications will be done before it arrives read more

A few years ago me and my husband re-landscaped our front yard. We bought all our plants from moon valley on Indian school. About 50% of our bushes didn't make it and they replaced them, twice. We had purchased a very large tree and had problems with it from the get go. They sent an arborist out to have a look and he said the soil had too much salt in it and the tree had salt burn. I don't think that was the issue. We did what was asked of us, but the tree still died. It was after the warranty so we didn't bother calling again. 2 of our 4 trees died and there were 5 bushes we didn't replace a third time. We chose to go back this past March to try again. We made sure to let them know of the troubles we had had over the years with the plants. The manager Travis was very helpful and wanted to make sure we were satisfied with them so gave us a big discount on new trees. Robert was very helpful helping us pick out what would work best as the type we previously had just wasn't working out for us. Travis and Robert were absolutely great, they informed us to call them with any problems we have and they will fix it! No matter what. They gave us what was needed to take care of the trees and bushes and off we went. It's almost been 2 months and so far so good. The reason for the three stars: the fact that 50% of the plants died right off the bat and needed replacing twice even after several calls and following their instructions on feeding/watering. The fact that my big pretty tree didn't make it. I don't know if it was just the wrong time of year to plant, the trees/bushes didn't like our soil, the trees/ bushes had some kind of disease, who knows, but it's not fun having to replace so much, especially when they charge a higher price for plants than other places. Also, the crew that put in the first set of plants, great, there were no drips or other established plants to work around, the crew that put in the plants this past March, not so great. The guys were great as far as being nice and personable, well most of them, but as far as taking care of the other plants in the yard and watching for drip lines after I made sure they knew where they were, not so much. They threw their tools and the tree box parts right on top of other plants in the yard, damaging stems, branches and the like, they busted drip lines and deep watering posts. The lead on the crew even warned the crew of the deep watering post as they were putting the tree in and one crew member thought throwing some dirt over it before laying the huge tree on it would save it from damage. Didn't work. I understand that those trees are heavy and the crew has limited space to try to work around other plants, but they could be more mindful to not trash things and moon valley could equip their install crews with better tools than their own muscles to plant a huge tree. read more

our good friend brought us here to look at some succulents & cacti plants. it was hot but they had a huge tent w/ a mister blowing which was nice! the guys there were all very nice. Eric helped us and was nice and knowledgeable. the pricing seems a bit high to me but I don't know much about it yet so I can't really say. but this seem like a good place to start! read more

We had a design consultation with Moon Valley. A woman came out and was very nice, but quoted us what seemed an exorbitant amount. $10,500 for about 600 sq feet of grass, 8 ton of rock, 200 sq feet of pavers, 3 trees, a sprinkler and a drip system. The sprinkler system alone was around $2,100, the drip another $1,100. She quoted us $900 for the trees, even though on their website they have a special, 3 trees planted and guaranteed for $300. The only thing we could figure was that she was working on commission and was looking for a big check. We found another company who did the same work, minus the pavers for $2,100 and our yard looks great. read more

We bought 3 sage bushes, a pomagranate tree/bush, and a Chinese elm in a box. The salesman was helpful but not really sure how much he knew. I believe they also work on commission so I think we could have gotten a better deal perhaps but I am not into negoiating but if you are, I think you could certainly do some bartering here. That being said, the product was very good and the planting was done in a super efficient manner. They had 5 guys and they were digging where we had the stakes put in as soon as they hopped off the truck and the first shovel struck before they rang the doorbell! The total time in putting in the plants was perhaps 30 minutes at most (all by hand!) and digging down pretty deep for the tree. They then preceeded to clean up and swept the sidewalk, put the decorative gravel that I had pulled back for the hole back around the tree berm, and picked up the few extra leaves that had fallen off the tree. Very impressed with the crew that did the planting! read more

Went to Moon Valley on Indian School with the intent to purchase a couple of vitex and crape myrtle. The employee that "greeted" us was NOT helpful at all. We explained the apx size of vitex that we were looking for and without even checking he responded that they didn't have any that size. We asked if we could see the sizes that they did have....and he simply stated that they didn't have what we were looking for. He appeared to have difficulty walking but that was not excuse to turn us away. If he would have told us where they were located, we could have easily walked there. We left and went to Whitfill and bought trees, garden plants and a few other things. Won't go back ! read more

Staff was very patient and informative. At no point did we feel like we were being pressured into any decision, the staff took our wants and showed us a good variety of options. The prices here are higher than you will find other places. However, the staff is knowledgeable about the plants and are very helpful. Even though we declined the extended warranty on our trees, when two of them suffered from sunburn and died, they said that since we had been caring for them properly and consulting with them to try to keep them alive, they would replace the trees for only the cost of planting.
