Let's get something straight right now--I'm a retired military veteran, and I absolutely expect…read moreprofessionalism and excellence from people in their chosen field. From start to finish, my experience with Moon Valley Nursery in Avondale was not just good--it was beyond exceptional. Honestly, 10 out of 5 stars isn't even enough. Wesley Erwin, the sales rep, set the tone right away--professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping me make the right decisions. I am wheelchair bound and not knowledgeable about AZ plants and trees. BUT Wesley took time and care and walked us through every single little question we had with a smile!! Wesley even put me in a UTV vehicle to drive us around the entire lot as we looked and quizzed him!! He is a wonderful man with a big heart and a love for his job! Then came Javi and his planting crew, and that's where things went to another level. Javi may be a young man, but he carries himself with the pride, work ethic, and integrity of an old soul. You can hear it in his voice, feel it in his handshake, and see it in every detail of his work. That kind of character is rare. His crew? Fast. Efficient. Respectful. And genuinely friendly--something you don't always see these days. They worked hard, worked smart, and treated me with real care and respect as a disabled veteran. Because of this team, Moon Valley Nursery has earned my loyalty--no question about it. If you're looking for top-tier service and people who truly take pride in their work, this is the place. These guys are the real deal--the best of the best.

Stopped by for a few shrubs that didn't survive in my yard. Armed with some pictures of the plants,…read morethe team in the office hooked me up with John in the back lot. John welcomed me with a handshake (a real one, not that weak stuff some guys give) and listened to my needs. I showed him the pics of what I needed and he rattled off the names and showed me what they had. For the coral fountain and purple lantana there was a lot to choose from. For the red bird of paradise (15 gal) there was only one up front and it wasn't a 10/10. He offered to take me in the back to look at others but I was in a time crunch. He went back, grabbed a beautiful specimen, and was back up front with it next to my truck before I paid. Awesome service from all (esp John) and I think their prices are better than the big box stores. I'll be back, thanks guys!

Construction is going on right now so you'll enter right before the 303 into their tool rental…read morefacility then take the dirt road west to the nursery. Now most of their business comes from landscapers. They come in and order what they want. They do cell tonthe general public as well. When I came in and told her what I wanted she tried ringing it up right away. I let her know I wanted to pick it out. The gal up front greated me and was nice. So was the gal whe sweet gal who took me to the plants but didn't speak much English. We managed just fine working together. This is a place you go to do business at, but you won't get that warm fuzzy personable experience which is totally fine with me. Their Ocotillos weren't what I was looking for so I was on my way. Still worth checking out if ever looking for desert or tropical plants. Many are under shade but still get sun. Just think of where you'll be planting it verses how they are growing it and you should be fine. They are very busy.

We have been going to Whitfill for over 20 years now! What started out as Christmas tree shopping…read morewhen our boys were little has now turned into a yearly tradition that we hope one day they will continue with their own families. Not only do we go to them during the holidays but rely on them throughout the year when we need additional plants and trees for our backyard. We first started using Whitfill back in the early 2000's when they were on 40th street south of Roeser. We literally lived across the street from their nursery and when they moved to their current spot on Southern we followed! We have decades of photos with our boys standing next to the tree they choose for Christmas and the tradition continues now with our Sphynx cats! They used to have a peacock walking around but unfortunately he is no longer there. They are pet friendly and we are comfortable taking our cats there in the stroller. Not only are their prices and tree selections the best in town but their customer service and knowledge of anything tree related is vast! They know what they are doing and don't try to upsell or get you to buy unnecessary items. They are the real deal!

This location is driving me nuts with the lack of labels and prices. I'm often driving by and love…read moreto stop for plants, but its frustrating to wander and find plants you can't figure out what it is or what it costs. I shouldn't need to walk all the way back up front to ask -- and I've been giving the wrong information before anyhow. Its important to know what kind of plant you're buying for multiple reasons. The other Whitfill location (off Guadalupe and Cooper) doesn't have this issue. Overall I think the plants are pretty healthy but after having an issue with lack of labeling (on both the kind of plant and pricing), having been given the wrong plant info on a plant, and after having asked if they had Pink Fairy Duster and being sent off in a direction to wander and never find it on my own, I'm really over this location.
