Ordered a fruit tree. It arrived so dehydrated and beaten up that I can only assume it had just returned from a stag party in Vegas. One branch was hanging outside the truck and had been stripped clean from the freeway drive to my place. A few other branches were broken. I took some photos and called Moon Valley. The manager invited me to come pick out a new tree. Fair enough. But when my wife and I show up the manager has a salesperson deal with us while he sits slumped in a chair, hands stuffed in the pockets of his hoody, and sun glasses on. He does not greet us. Does not remove his sunglasses as any professional would. And there is no apology. Instead, he pouts like a nine year old who just had his e-bike taken away.. I wouldn't even bother posting this review if it weren't for the pissy manner were treated by the guy in charge. So here is what I want to say 1. It's not the customer's fault when you deliver a sickly mistreated tree. 2. If you feel expectations are too high then don't charge the highest prices in the valley. 3. If you feel your prices are right then bring your service up to match them. My experience was at the Avondale location. In the last 18 years, I've spend thousands on two packages, the most recent being a Giant tree and 4 fruit trees, and even used their financing. Two of the trees died, and I was able to literally pull them up by the rootball over a year later, meaning they had never grown since being planted. I watered and used their "moon juice" as directed. My warranty was nearly up, so I called it in and sent a text with the picture to the salesperson. He called me and said it would be irresponsible to plant "during this time of the year", so follow up after December. Well, my warranty ran out, and guess what? Now it's expired and nobody remembers the phone conversation. Lesson learned, if you text a salesperson, recap any agreement in text. I hope I'm the only one this happened to. The trees didn't even outlast the payments, so I paid off the account and won't be back. In my attempt to see if they could make it right, the sales manager told me, "We can replace them for $300.". I bought them for $344. and "insured them" for an additional $100+. I offered to pay $200 each because I don't expect anything free, but they were ruthless and steadfast with their "might as well repurchase at full price" stance. The guy even told me, "You HAVE a line of credit, you know, just pay it off later!" Geez, guys, really? So when you buy insurance, remember, it means nothing unless you get the work done by the time the insurance lapses. And they don't work with you. A tip for readers, look at your new trees weekly, and the first sign of any illness or lack of growth, make them make it right, and don't apologize or rely on their "let's see what they look like in a few weeks" technique. It was my mistake, don't make it yours. Completely and utterly defeated by peaceful and respectful attempts at reasonable negotiation to no satisfaction or avail, I calmly mentioned it's unlikely I will return, and I received a smile and a handshake (for what reason, I'm unsure) in response. They got my money, and I walked away with a hole in the ground. I went to Home Depot, paid $40 each for a blood orange and a lemon tree and used manure instead of moon juice and a shovel. Customer service leaves MUCH to be desired. The LAST purchase made, after previous numerous ones, were 3 coral fountain grass plants. I was highly encouraged to purchase the extended warranty, which I did, for $600. Stupid me-I brought photos in today of the 3 corals, all almost dead and told they'd have to send an arborist out to evaluate. The manager had to go through a lengthy process in order for me to get a call from scheduling. They just called and could only come out March 4th, when I was told by the manager it would probably be next week! I purchased a Christmas tree here this year (I usually find they have nice trees that last the season nicely for the most part and they are supposed to guarantee their trees make it through the holiday season. My Christmas tree died long before Christmas Eve and when I called them about it I was told not to worry about bring it back or taking pictures as they won't be guaranteeing anything. I ordered 10 plants in December 2024. 6 were hopseed bushes costing over $1000 that were supposed to grow quickly and provide privacy. They planted these skinny plants and told us to water them and add moon dust. We did that to the tune of water bills over $150 and three never took root and got very dry. The other three started, but by mid July they were back to just sticks and a few leaves. We called multiple times, increased the water, got more moon dust, covered them with burlap. Everything we were told to do over the phone (they did not visit us) we did. The three bad ones completely died by mid July and the other three still are dry with just a few leaves. What a waste of money, I would not buy their bushes again after this experience. read more

I have done business with MVN since my last bad experience. I have also done business with another professional tree service that I like. Why did I go back To MVN? Because I can pick the tree that I want. The other tree service has been good for removal and treatments (which MVN also does), but I cannot pick my trees. I had a much better experience my last trip. Why only 4 stars then? I still don't like the business practice of claiming 50% off and free planting that costs $300.00 to get to the job. Also everything seems dreadfully overpriced. A 3' lime tree at $700.00 and a large pot for $600.00. What was good? A great selection and beautiful trees. I have had dishonest sales people in the past, but this time, Brad and Dai' Tiara helped me and were very pleasant and knowledgeable. It was a much better experience this time. So, I needed several large palm trees and a Jacaranda tree. I think MVN is the only game in town for the palms that I needed. Dai' helped me pick them out. Unfortunately, the trees were unskinned, but I needed the skinned to mach my others. I was surprised when Dai' told me that MVN would skin them for free. That was a pleasant surprise. Now the planting experience. MVN has a crew of planters who come from the Congo, Africa. They have been out 3 times now. I doubt there is anyone that can outdo them. They are fast, strong and do beautiful work! Give them a raise! I really like these guys! Boy was I shocked by planting this time. I usually gripe about the $300.00 transportation fee. Well, I heard MVN roll up, so I went outside and to my amazement, there was a crane, a big rig and MVN truck waiting. This was no little crane. Kyle, who was El Hefe for the job introduced himself. He was professional and friendly in everything he did. I could drink a beer with this guy! I would enjoy the talk and learn a lot in the process. He explained that the crane was needed because the trees were just too large to be manhandled. Words cannot express the awe in watching the crane drop the tree at by back fence line. Have you ever seen a palm tree 50' in the air? Well, this time I got my moneys worth! I can't imagine what the crane cost to bring in. That really was free planting! *** UPDATE *** So I got a call today (11/15) in regard to my review from LP, their Director of Customer Relations for the state of Arizona. While he agrees that his team clearly misled me, he states that their contract with Wells Fargo Merchant services restricts them from ever issuing refunds or even partial refunds to their customers, regardless of the circumstances. He states that his hands are tied, because their contract with Wells Fargo wont even allow Moon Valley to issue a check to cover the interest I'm now forced to pay due to their misrepresentation of Wells Fargo's product. Fortunately he found a loophole. Wells Fargo is okay with him giving me a tree. It'll only cost me $865 in interest. I told him no thank you. So what's the moral of the story? When throwing your customer under the bus for your mistake doesn't work, have a "good cop" call to throw your bank under the bus. Also, Wells Fargo Merchant Services writes contracts that prohibit their business customers from ever issuing refunds or even partial refunds to their customers ....according to Moon Valley. --------------------- BE WARE!! Don't trust these guys! I went to Moon Valley after being referred to them by a friend who bought a number of trees from them at a different location. They told a very unnecessary lie REPEATEDLY that cost me over $800 interest charges. When buying a tree they offered me a 0% interest plan for 1 year of financing. Gabriel and the store manager told me about this wonderful trick where all I have to do is buy something from Moon Valley just prior to the offer expiring using my Moon Valley card in order to extend the offer for another year! He told me I could do this as many times as I'd like to keep rolling over the 0% interest rate. I could have and would have easily paid cash for the tree, but thought it was a convenient solution. So I took him up on his offer and purchased the tree using their card. I've been back a few times. Knowing that the offer was set to expired 9/13, I made it a point to buy something that I didn't need last August and September 10th to make sure I could continue the promotion. I also confirmed again with Daniel that I understood the offer correctly. Last night I looked at my account online and found that I was repeatedly lied to. Every single person I spoke to over the course of the year told me the exact same lie and confirmed it each time I checked to make sure I understood it correctly. $865.42 in interest charges suddenly appeared on my account in September . I was charged $865.42 on a $2,700 purchase that I could have paid off at any time! I called the shop today and got a call back from some guy (I think his name was Luis) claiming to be a regional manager who told me I should have read the fine print and practically accused me of lying. He was argumentative, talked over and was clearly trying to get a rise out of me so that he could hang up. Their card services are through Wells Fargo. He told me go talk to Wells about a refund and said the best he can do is offer me store credit. I asked him to put me in touch with his boss. He said he'd send the guy an email and maybe someone will get back to me in a week, but repeatedly told me that nothing can be done about it. I even told him the name of the most recent person who gave me wrong information. He wasn't interested. They are devoid of integrity and professionalism. I already had a budget saved for my backyard renovation and was happy to pay cash for the tree. I could have paid it off at anytime, including today. Financing was never needed. Now I have to fight with them and Wells Fargo trying to get $865.42 interest charges reversed so that I can pay off the initial balance and be done with this transaction. The insult to injury is that the tree died less than a year after they installed it. I'm making payments on a dead tree that they won't replace. I have no idea what to do next. I am blown away at the quality and attention to detail Aaron Brooks and his crew did for us today! My expectations were far exceeded, which speaks also to the quality of work. We had two ficus, 3 upright rosemary, 8 cats claw planted. They were professional and did an awesome job of cleaning up after themselves. We spent over $5,000 on a tree and other desert plants. We purchased two fire sticks and instead received coral fountains. They made the exchange pretty quickly but they ended up dying within the first several months. We asked for an Arizona Ash and received a Ficus Nitida. This wouldn't have been a huge problem since we are not too familiar with the different types of trees. However, the tree just die from the beginning and now have a trail of terminates. After reading the warranty and other reviews, the only solution is to pay more money to receive replacements. Highly recommend not falling for the big sign (like we did) and go elsewhere for your landscaping needs. read more

Over this Memorial weekend May 2024, I called into Moon Valley Nurseries in Avondale and spoke with Andy Klein. He was very friendly over the phone and said he would attend my husband and I when we got there. We went over there and immediately connected with Andy. We had so many questions and he was able to answer all of our questions and address our concerns. Andy was very detail oriented, organized, thoughtful and a good listener plus very friendly!!! He drove us around the nursery pointing out the timeline of the trees as they mature and move up in size and in years. This was relevant to us as it helped us to make an informed decision regarding our decision on purchasing a tree. We got a good discount since it was Memorial weekend which definitely helped our pocket book! It was a shock to see how expensive trees are, however, getting that holiday discount was what encouraged us to make the decision to purchase this tree. We're considering it's an investment of sorts as we'll be able to enjoy its shade and beauty with family in our backyard. It's a worthwhile investment that will keep on giving for years to come!!
