Wow an entirely different feeling about Moon Valley now. We bought a one year guarantee, and one fruitless tree got a full crop of olives. We asked for a replacement. When they finally came. quite late but no call, they were in a big hurry. I had to ask them to completely fill up the hole as there was dirt they pulled out all around. A guy sort of brushed at it , but no attempt to flatten or check for air pockets. I figured I would do it. They left and I noticed that they had not left the trunk slightly above the surrounding soil as it would sink. as they always do. Well it really, really sank, got stressed from water always pooling at the trunk, and showed signs of disease. I called Moon Valley three times to have them come out find a way to get the trunk higher. Each time talked to a different guy, that listened and said they would arrange it and call me back. or they said they would have the RIGHT guy call me back about going out to fix it. Never did. The tree seems to have what is being called Slow Olive Tree Decline Syndrome because it's not completely understood, some speculation it is two pathogens working together. It's on a slope so we are pulling soil down the hill and putting rocks to hold the soil after we get the trunk and a little of the root ball exposed. We will continue watching it read more

I purchased an avocado tree in a 5-gallon pot on 3/18/2022 from Moon Valley Nursery, 36705 Briggs Rd, Murrieta, California 92563. They charged $399.99. I did not take delivery until 4/20/2022. When I picked up the tree the leaves were brown and dirt dry. My gardener planted the tree the same morning. The tree never produced any new leaves despite watering every day and caring for the tree as directed. I contacted the sales agent, Tom Anthony on June 7 and texted him a photo of the tree with the dead leaves. He suggested buying Moon Valley Nursey Vitamin B product. My Gardner came to service the yard on June 8th and he said the tree was dead. I conducted an online search for another tree and found the price for an avocado tree on a 5-gallon container range from $58.75 to $160.00. On June 20th, I called Moon Valley Nursery and spoke to Dallin. Tom Anthony was on vacation. I explain the situation and texted him a photo of the tree. He offered to settle by charging me $200.00 for a new tree. I told him the $399.99 is a rip off as a tree in a 5-gallon container at the nurseries is around $60 to $100, and $200 is also a rip-off. And, I said, I believe the tree was not cared for between March 18 and April 20th when I took delivery. I asked Dallin about a warranty. He said they only warrant if they plant the tree. He said the cost for them to deliver and plant the tree is $500.00. I replied, this is outrageous. He said that's the best he could do. This is "rip off." read more

Moon's Nursery was bit pricey, but generally worth the extra dollars given the the quality of plants and trees. The installation is worth it, too. One of five items, a Hass avocado tree had been damaged when they loaded their truck. The damage was not fully evident until a few days went by. The company stood by their warranty and replaced it a week or so later. I only wish that their inventory of avocado trees was larger. They did not carry but one variety and the sizes were disappointing. read more

We had an amazing experience with Moon Valley Nurseries, from start-to-finish. Our journey started with a visit to their Filmore location where Eduardo spent a couple of hours with us driving around the property and looking at different tree options. He was incredibly knowledgeable and very patient with us. When we were concerned about whether the trees we selected would work in the areas we were looking to plant them, he came out to the house to do an in-person consultation. When it came time to plant them, the coordinators Amanda and Miguel were very professional, customer-focused, and helped make sure everything went as planned. Miguel followed up several times to make sure everyting was going well, and after the service was completed, with ensuring we were happy with the entire process. He was great! And lastly, the two crews that came out (2 different planting days), led by Mauricio and George, were outstanding. The skills of each of the teams really blew us away. They were easy to work with, very skilled and efficient, and consulted with us throughout the project. It was easy to see the tenure of these teams by their craftmanship. They knew exactly what they were doing, overcame any/all obstacles (removed turnk & roots in the way), and their expertise in the prepwork, planting, and caring for the trees was quite evident. I bought six trees (plus a free one on special) from Moon Valley in Huntington Beach but the delivery was from Fillmore (closer to home). Both nurseries offered great customer service even with the confusion of the multiple locations. Eduardo was so helpful picking out just the right trees for our location and gave us a fun trip in the golf cart around the huuuge property. That was a big hit with our toddler! The trees were delivered promptly and are absolutely beautiful! The guys that did the actual planting (Mauricio and Team) were really knowledgeable and gave us thorough instructions to keep the trees healthy and even helped us with some soil amendments due to the heavy clay soil. When we had to replace a tree, it was without issue and another great delivery by Danny. They stand by the quality of their products and make sure everything is done right. I bought a purple plum tree 2 years ago. I paid for the "free" planting, which is actually a $199 delivery fee. I paid for double staking, another $35, which was not provided. Calls about that charge were not returned. I provided new soil to plant the tree in. The tree had dedicated water feeds. I used their "moon juice" to fertilize the tree. The tree died within the first year. Every tree on my property has been planted within the 7 years I've owned the property; all of them are thriving except the one from Moon Valley. Being my first plum, I wasn't immediately aware that the signs of the tree dying were not part of its yearly cycle. By the time it became obvious that the tree was no good, Covid had hit. I had hoped Moon Valley was a reputable business that would stand by their product, after I spent $900 on a dying tree. Amanda Woodward, their general manager, not only refused any compensation, she accused me of killing HER tree. She did offer me a "deal" on a replacement tree, which, after taking into account their rising prices, equaled...surprise!...$900. Their "warranty" is for 3 months. Anywhere else covers a full year. Moon Valley is a shady operation from the jump, with their misleading promise of "free planting," and their "sale" prices that are what you would pay anywhere. Do yourself a favor and throw out their junk mail. Go to a legitimate nursery and give your business to a reputable, knowledgeable outfit that stands behind their product and values customers. Maybe things will work out at Moon Valley, maybe they won't- why take the chance with expensive items like trees? read more

I live in Moorpark and have been receiving email fliers from Moon Valley Nurseries for a LONG TIME. My wife and I decided the replace a tree in our backyard and...well I was not going to have it delivered and actually plant it myself, let's give them a try! For the record, we visited the Fillmore, CA yard (they have multiple locations). First impression...the parking lot is large enough to accommodate both trucks and cars. LOL, no 4-wheel drive required! The office is contained within a trailer so don't bother looking for an actual building! I called in advance (COVID-planning) and had an appointment with someone (I forget the name of the gentlemen) and was greeted in a friendly and professional manner. After discussing our needs and budget, our discussion turned to exposure, watering and other related topics. We next were ushered into a golf cart and was zipping off into the yard to look at the available trees. OK, I need to stress this, even though we stated that we were there to buy a tree (and installation), we never felt pressured. The employee was VERY knowledgeable and pointed out some factors for us to consider (growth rate, flowers, shedding leaves, insect attraction, etc.). All of this helped us quickly make a decision that we felt comfortable with. Once selected, we finished the purchase back in the office / trailer. The only time that I felt like they were trying to "up-sell" was as we were completing the purchase...seems you can purchase a "guarantee" or "service plan" for your tree. In reality, it's more like you're purchasing some good fertilizer and if the tree dies, they'll replace it. I wanted them to plant this sucker and I wanted some good fertilizer so I decided to spring for the add-on. Installation.... Easily scheduled and you know what? THEY WERE ON TIME! WOW! Several people came with the truck and it was clear that everyone knew their role and there never was anyone not doing something. These guys were quick and efficient...they even asked about the "facing" for the tree by rotating it a few times. The crew provided me great instructions on initial care and did a great job cleaning up. Overall we had a great experience for our single tree need. Highly recommend you consider them! read more

Purchased a 24" beautiful strawberry tree in August of '23. The crew arrived with Jose as the lead. They were fast and efficient. Planted my tree and I had them come back in May of '24 to do a rejuvenation with more mulch snd fertilizer and restake it with two stakes since we are in a very windy area of Morgan Hill. They track your phone number. Won't let you call from a blocked number or won't answer. There prices fluctuate never the same. I've been going to different locations off and on for the past two years to investigate. Employees have different things to say, different prices, different planting prices. Tell you one thing over the phone and do another in person. While there trees are healthy, the business employees will rake you over the coals. For all the customers who live in Malibu, you need permits to plant, they have to be 40 feet away from the house. Almost finalized a $60,000 job. When I asked them about this new law that went into effect after the Woosley fire, they lied and said they hadn't heard anything about it. You should know the laws in the city you currently conduct business in. read more

I recently bought several trees from Moon Valley nursery and purchased the MVP Pro Care program to "inspect the tree" three times for one year. I was somewhat hesitant as I wasn't sure this would be worth the spend. To my surprise, this was a great spend and I would do it again on the next set of trees I buy from Moon. I found the Moon representative "Travis" to be knowledgeable of my trees and the tree he inspected. Travis provided lots of care instructions...tested the soil, made a few recommendations while fertilizing, added soil supplements, and moon juiced the tree. This was a great spend...I'm so happy I purchased the Care program...I recommend everyone buying big trees to purchase this plan. Thanks Travis for the coaching! read more

I am changing my yelp review. The confusion came because I spoke to two separate guys. The photo I posted was that of a multi plum tree (sent by Bill) not the nectarine, peach, apricot, and plum which I wanted. Eduardo did send me a photo of the right tree weeks before I ordered it. The prices are high but the amount of plants and trees is enormous. I would be careful ordering a tree by photo only. I found that my tree is an odd shape and probably not what I would have chosen had I not been too lazy to drive to Filmore. Eduardo offered to bring me another tree and replace it. I chose not to exchange but that is good customer service. The multi fruit trees are new and I am excited to see how it turns out. The guys planting the tree were professional and on time. We purchased 24 Laurel trees from Moon Valley Nursery recently. Amanda was very helpful & informative during the selection process. The installation crew did a great job. Shortly after the trees were planted, both Miguel & Bill reached out to make sure we were happy with the trees and to check to see how they were faring. We mentioned that we had some concerns due to heavy winds, and they immediately offered to send someone out to investigate. Sure enough, 2 days later, MVN had a crew(Jorge, Jose, Alex & Lupe) come by after they had made a delivery in the area. They called the night before to confirm delivery and arrived at the correct time. They analyzed the situation, understood the field conditions, and started digging. Upon digging, they resolved the discovered field conditions uncovered by digging, and planted the tree. The job was done professionally, and the team managers were very customer oriented. Don't use them if you're a homeowner. I tried calling and left a message telling them we had to plant a newly remodeled backyard but never heard back so I assume they work with larger entities. I tried also to send an email from their website but all that got me was onto a massive email list. So while I never heard from them about planting a large backyard, I receive several emails a week.
