There are none to compare with the outstanding way I was treated at Moon Valley Nursery on Tatum Blvd. I had been looking for a multi trunk Palo Verde to replace one I had lost during the monsoons. I looked for weeks and was ready to give up and happened to stop by Moon Valley. Not only was the staff helpful and knowledgeable, teaching me all about Palo Verdes but their inventory of beautiful trees is spectacular. We purchased a Bonita Ash last March at the Tatum location. I made several trips during the summer and into this year because the tree was struggling even with care guidelines given by their staff. We finally gave up because the tree is dropping leaves. We went in today, talking to Chris. Even though we were past the warranty date, he replaced the tree. read more

This is a very good nursery. They know everything about the Arizona plants. Everyone that works there is very knowledgeable and helpful. My plants didn't look good until I started using their fertilizers and they know how to recommend plants for a certain spot of your yard, I would recommend anybody go there first I was going to hardware stores and not getting the right thing or learning. read more

This review is coming four years after my experience with Moon Valley. To be fair I wanted to wait until the plants that I purchased from them had a chance to fully develop before making an assessment. I have been silently seething over the experience I had with them ever since they completed my yard in 2021. From my experience, these guys are nothing but high-priced plant pushers and not true landscape professionals. I spent far too much money for what I ended up with and could have done much better with a private landscaper or by just simply purchasing plants from Lowe's or Home Depot. When we moved to Scottsdale in 2021, we purchased a property bordering the McDowell-Sonoran preserve with a beautiful view of the mountains. Our new property needed some sprucing up. We met with Chris Eastwood our sales rep who assured us he was going to enhance our "million dollar view." Chris set a date for us to meet him at the Tatum location to plan our purchase. He asked us to take photos of our property and of plants we liked. He said he would select plants and drop them into photos of our yard to give us an idea of the transformation. On the day of our appointment, we arrived to find Chris distracted and preoccupied. He had nothing to show us. He began hurriedly trying to put together something. He was like a kid trying to complete his homework in class on the due date. I was not confident of the outcome. He talked a mile a minute. He seemed more focused on making a sale. Moon Valley completed our demo/trimming of our original landscaping and then our fresh plantings under Chris's supervision. They managed to sever a main irrigation line and plant a whole row of sage bushes along my view fence which were not the variety I asked for. When I contacted Chris to complain, he assured me he would fix the irrigation and asked for photos of the sage. He never called back/followed up. When I asked about how to care for my new plantings, he assumed I would hire someone and said, "That's between you and your landscaper." He was done with his sale. That's all that mattered. As time went on and the plantings took root, it became apparent that Chris provided us with substandard stock and had no real knowledge of his product. He placed items in areas of my yard where they would not thrive as based on sun exposure. I paid hundreds of dollars for a grapefruit tree that was likely diseased from the beginning. I also paid an exhorbitant amount for a blue glow agave that burned up because of where it was placed. These both died within months. And, as for those sage bushes, I now look out at my "million dollar view" and see a row of at least three different varieties that are in random order, unevenly spaced, growing at different rates, and flowering at different times and with different colors. I never want to speak with Chris again! I've called different Moon Valley locations over the years for advice in order to avoid him. When I called back this location in 2022 to replace my "guaranteed" Blue Glow, a guy named Leon gave me a lecture on watering rates, essentially blaming me for its demise. Other reps have been helpful but truly their answers to the same question vary and evidence their lack of product knowledge. The bottom line...save your money! Hire a professional landscaper first and have him/her do your bidding. I spent over $8000 dollars for a half-ass job and am reminded of it every day. read more

I hate leaving a bad review. This is actually the second time. LP is great. But Steven Lopez is worthless (the inspector) I spent thousands with them, I bought a jacaranda tree, they planted it, last summer it blew over almost out of the ground. They did come out and staked it, but it is now leaning again. Steven came out, assessed the problem and wants to charge me $450 to stake it better because it grew, so thats why its leaning!!!!! Steven said its my problem. Then they replaced a palm tree last summer, In November it started to die. Right now its absolutely dead. Steven suggested to replace it with a $1500 tree and the perfectly fine palm he said I should rip it out and get a matching tree for $1500!!! NOT HAPPENING!!!! OH and he said he wouldn't charge me the $350 to remove the dead tree, but he would charge $350 to rip out the perfectly good palm. This is unbelievable I have to deal with this company that has customer service like this. STEVEN LOPEZ has no interest in solving a problem with a reasonable solution!!! And I think he makes money on the side. He told me to call him personally that he would get me a deal!!!! I would never ever call him EVER again. I AM SO SO SORRY I EVER BOUGHT ANYTHING HERE!!!! Rob Decker at Tatum Moon Valley have installed several palms around my pool, and they did an amazing job. Rob is a pro and he and his crew were meticulous, timely and were very careful with surrounding plants. Finally, these jobs can be messy and their cleanup was A+ each time they came. I met with Patrick before Christmas to discuss plants that would provide me privacy from my unsightly neighbors yard. After discussing budget, location and growth time, we honed in on ficus trees. Got a great deal on it. The crew came, a few weeks later to plant them. They were quick , clean and efficient. I love the way they look. As a matter of fact, several friends actually said my yard looks like a resort. They definitely changed the look of my backyard for the better. But, what I appreciated the most, is when I called Patrick because I noticed some broken branched, he was not dismissing, but suggested I go to the nursery to pick up some fertilizer to assist the plants. This wasn't my first time doing business with Moon Valley, but it was the best interaction yet. The team at Tatum is excellent! It started with William taking the time to listen to our desires then showing us our options. We landed on two trees, but after the walkthrough we ended only needing one to fit our needs. I was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a hard sell and they refunded us our money promptly for the second tree. Unfortunately for me my wife was so impressed with the customer service we went back and purchased three more trees to be added to the install. After another walkthrough we were set for delivery. On the day of delivery there was a small hiccup with one of our trees, but they were there to satisfactorily resolve the issue. The install was professionally done and my desires on placement and orientation were easily accommodated. They will be returning shortly to complete another tree injection service. I couldn't be happier. I want to personally thank the salesman William, the planting manager Brandon (and his team), the fork driver Brandon, and both Tatum managers Dillon and Quint. They were able to answer all.my questions (and I had many) as well as explain differences in the trees I looked at. They gave me a deal I could not pass up and assured me of the health and viability of the tree. I had bought my original trees from Moon Valley over 30 years ago. Super disappointed. I've made several purchases over the years for hibiscus plants. They offer a 1 yr guarantee but plants always seem to die month 14. I have purchased hibiscus plants from Home Depot that have lasted 12+ years & for a lot less money. The one thing I do love from here is their moon juice. They do offer a nice selection of flowers and succulents. But do not purchase hibiscus plants from here. read more

Our family went to Moon nursery just to look at trees, not to buy any. Well when we walked out we had a backyard full of trees because of or thanks to Patrick McCoy we should say! His customer service is a 10/10 and he's really why we bought the trees there! He's went above and beyond for us! I had my front and back yards landscaped by Moon Valley in spring 2024 and it was excellent! That is ... until a bunch of plants died. Took me from May 2024 when I lost plants till JAN 2025 to get them to actually replace them. Actually, I still have one replacement outstanding and 3 plants the are supposed to refund me. and now NOTHING. If your dollars mean anything to your household, don't waste it on Moon Valley. They don't care about "making it right" or their warranty. It's a joke. You can't rely on them to do anything after they've taken your money (in my case thousands of dollars!) I've left so many messages and even filed a BBB complaint. read more

We bought a large mesquite tree to replace one that had been taken down in a recent storm. The selection was very large at the Tatum location. We arrange for them to plant it, as well. On planting day, they brought a large crane to take the tree over the house and land it in the spot in the backyard. The whole process was easy and fast. Shout out to Joey DeSilva who was the head of our install team. He did a fantastic job of getting it done and even staked up one of our existing trees that had been blown against the wall in our backyard. read more

This was my first trip to Moon Valley nursery. First of all, it is amazingly beautiful and huge! As I was walking in, AJ offered to help me find what I was looking for. He grabbed a cart and off we went. He loaded up four 5 gallon plants, checked me out and put them in my car with plastic underneath. He also went above and beyond to explain how to plant and take care of them. Then he went the extra mile to introduce me to Sami, because I was interested in some indoor plants as well.
