I purchased a Jacaranda tree and two lantanas to be planted by them. I went it and spent the time picking out the specific tree I wanted with one of their employees as well as telling him I wanted ROBUST lantanas. They showed up to do the installation in the afternoon so I didn't stay outside for that. When they were getting ready to leave I went out and signed but it was pretty clear I didn't get my tree and the lantanas were puny. I called and spoke to the guy that assisted me with the order and he said they would grow and he confirmed they did in fact give me the wrong tree and he didn't have an explanation for the lantana. There is no question I got screwed here and he told me the manager would give me money off my next purchase! What a joke. I will never purchase anything from these people again! I recommend people go to any other nursery than Moon Valley. read more

I decided to go to moon valley. I was hoping to get a employee who knew about gardening. What I got was a salesman who sold me dwarf plants and told me that dwarf plants ment that the plant didn't grow big He made it sound like.it was a bush type plant and dident tell me the fruit was miniaturet.He gave my a free bag of compost , probably to ease his mind for screwing me over. Ive told my story to others who have guided me in the proper way of gardening. And most of them said, if you want a tree. Deer Valley has trees and know about them because that's their primary business trees. But not so for gardening. read more

Hi I want to share what a fabulous experience my husband and I had working with moon valley nurseries every step of the way. So We just moved to Phoenix from the Midwest and are enamored by the landscape here! We bought our house as we fell in love with views as it faces the mountain preserve. But even though we have the beauty of the desert and mountain outside the fence - inside the fence needed some serious help! It was overgrown with dying cactus, scrub brush, and messy trees. While we love seeing the cactus on the mountain we prefer the relaxing oasis feel of palm trees. (And they don't hurt as much!) We were lucky enough to drive by moon valley nursery and wow we were in Palm tree heaven! Of course only ever seeing Palm trees on vacation we had no idea where to start. And just as the universe guided us to moon valley it also blessed us with meeting Carrie! She greeted us immediately and asked what brought us in. The reality is we were just looking for a pot .. but said how mesmerized we were with all the palm trees! She's like well let take a look! I told her my backyard was filled with a lot of sad looking cactus and i really wanted to make my back yard happy but had no idea where to start! She then offered to come to our house to check it out with a complementary consultation! And sure enough that weekend she showed up and even brought another expert Tyler with her. Both professionals in understanding the best plants to get and design it was a fun collaboration!! But that was just the beginning of the excitement! They came back with a great plan and we worked together to mold it into a transformational solution for the backyard .. within the right budget ... remember, we were only there originally to get a pot!! Since we had to clear out the old to make room for the new, there was a ton of coordination from plant and tree removal to stump removal, utility line marking, planting and crane operating! I've never experienced such efficient project management and communication! The operations team sent email and texts all along the way and the crew called on time every day they were scheduled. I've dealt with a lot of projects and contractors since moving here and this is the only experience where they came through on all their promises... with no delays.. every time!! Speaking of the crews - they were all the best. From the crew leader always doing an intro and calling us by our names, to asking before using our electoral and water to complete site cleanup every time. They are top notch! Planting day finally arrived and sure enough Carrie was there bright and early with the crew to watch our design come to life! Once again, all the moving pieces came together like clock work ... first the crew came to dig the big holes, just in time for the crane to arrive and expertly lift the palm trees OVER the house! This was a show in itself and all we could say was wowwww as the big palm fit perfectly in the hole like a glove!!! The crew lead Javi was amazing and did such a good job explaining to us how to care for our palms. He went above and beyond making this a great experience and I could tell he was well respected by his crew And when everyone left after cleaning up the worksite... what exudes is happiness!!! We love our backyard oasis now complete with a better view of the mountain with a strategically designed landscape! I spent $1500 for a boxed Ficus tree that they planted at my house in North Phoenix. The tree looked like it leaned to the right a bit immediately after they got planted it. I called Moon Valley and was assured the tree would straighten up in a couple months with the sun. The tree never straightened and after about 9 months Moon Valley agreed to came back out and straighten and re staked the tree. Six months later and after only a 1/2" of rain their stakes and support wires gave way and the tree toppled 35 degrees to the side. I called moon valley and got three weeks of lies and broken promises as I was passed off between 3 different employees and a manager. I heard, "I'll call you back by the end of day to schedule" "we will get you taken care of" over and over yet in a three week time period not one moon valley rep follows up with a phone call. read more

I absolutely love citrus -- and Moon Valley Nurseries has so many amazing varieties of citrus to choose from. One thing that stands out to me about their citrus here, is how big, beautiful, and full their trees are. I also love that Moon Valley Nurseries does a wonderful job of planting your new trees and it is so worth going to them for that alone. Not only do I know my trees will be planted correctly, but digging in Arizona soil is absolutely brutal. Recently I had the pleasure of adding a new citrus tree to my garden, a calamondin tree (aka calamansi). Having a half dozen different citrus trees from Moon Valley Nurseries already, I wanted something that would have a slightly different harvest season from my other citrus (typically November-March). The wonderful thing about the calamondin tree is that it bears ripe fruit throughout the year when other citrus are not producing anything. Calamondin aka calamansi is an integral part of Philippine cuisine, so if you like to try new things this tree is for you! There are so many amazing recipes I absolutely cannot wait to try with this fruit, from marmalade, to cakes and even cocktails. You probably won't find calamansi in your local grocery store, because the skin on the fruit is incredibly tender and prone to bruising. The entire calamansi fruit is edible and the skin is especially delicious and sweet (think orange). The interior of the calamansi is very tart (think lime), sometimes with a small amount of seeds. Citrus trees tend not to lose many leaves, so they look great all year and the calamansi tree is often used for ornamental or privacy purposes. I especially recommend going with a larger tree when it comes to citrus, as it will bear a lot more fruit immediately. Unfortunately most citrus is relatively slow growing. Everyone was top notch at this location, from picking out the right plants for my yard, to arranging an exceptional delivery. A huge thank you to the entire team at 7th St, especially LP, Denise B., and Meyer. Along with the calamansi tree, I also planted a couple orange jubilees (they do so well in Arizona and the pollinators love them). Delivery day was top notch and everything you would expect from Moon Valley Nurseries. Chris and the crew arrived on time and even gave me a call 30 mins before arrival. Everything was planted in the right spots, fed, watered and the yard left tidy upon departure. The Christmas trees are fine but SO overpriced it's crazy. We left and went to Lowe's Christmas tree lot and got a gorgeous 7' tree for less than these people are charging for a mini tabletop tree. It was only around $55 plus we got 25% off since they're doing their Thanksgiving/Black Friday promo this weekend, so we left with our tree only being $43. That's like 75-80% LESS than what we would have spent here on the same tree. Cannot beat it. If you need an affordable tree, avoid this lot. We've also purchased other overpriced plants from this place, one of which was an expensive ocatillo which was delivered dead and NEVER came back even though we followed their instructions to a T. They look like they have other good stuff but it's all overpriced and was not a great experience for us. read more

I went up to the nursery with some photos explaining my desire to replace it along with another old citrus tree, knowing my warranty had expires. Andy Klein had previously provided me with advice on my citrus so I spoke with him regarding options. He talked with the manager Dillon who provided me a discount on my new purchase even though they had no obligation to do so. I now have two large ficus purchased, with savings of about $10,000 between their sale price and the personal credit they gave me on my last purchase! All my palm trees died and a couple bushes, some survived. They blamed it on me not getting them to mark the best areas... but I did and they marked all the areas they thought would be best. Later I talked to one of the landscapers who planted them, they did plant them quickly (who does not work there anymore so I feel like I can share this) this landscaper said they overcharge a ridiculous amount and other places like whitfill will plant them too for way less. read more

We've been going here to get our Christmas tree's for years from Big Rob but he's no longer there. We bought some citrus trees 2yrs ago, we paid the extra for them to deliver and put them in. Coming out to a couple thousand dollars. The trees have never done well. Our seller came out several times, he replaced them but they still haven't done well. We've done what they told us to do and we have the irrigation set up for them. I called several times the last two weeks to get some help. But the trees are out of warranty and the original seller is gone. The guy I spoke with said it's odd they keep dying and was gonna call me back after he spoke with management to figure out what they can do. That was the third person who said that, and that was last week. I worked with Izzy for tree care who gave me great service and who worked to get me connected with a trimming team and soil injection appointment. Anthony and his tree trimming team came to shape up my tangelo and Tipu trees. They shaped up my tangelo and even left the fruit on the tree. It was beautiful. Anthony selectively trimmed up my Tipu to make it healthier. Then Anthony took the time to expose the flare on a new planting and my older Tipu. He also educated me as to how to create the berms around the trees for proper watering. After Anthony team left, a lovely gentleman from the soil injection section of Moon Valley came. (I apologize that I can't remember his name). He carefully injected my trees. He was so much more careful than the people I had used before. I felt like he really cared about his job. Thank you. Super easy to work with, fast, efficient, and the planting went off without issue. The trees weren't inexpensive, but the price was fair. My only complaint is how aggressive the sales staff are. There is no world in which I want to receive an unsolicited call from a sales rep. All things considered, we're happy with the trees and happy with Moon Valley. The Warranty is a total scam! DON'T BUY IT (and consider buying elsewhere) Every since they were bought out, it's become a joke. They totally flood the market with ads that contradict each other, and then you come in and the pricing game really begins. My order went from $12K, to $8K, down to $4K. I'm a disabled veteran, and bought the planting service and the warranty. After I reached out about some plants that had died, I was told that I had to go down and pick up the replacement plants and do the work myself. My 20' tall shrubs are dying and there's no way I can pick up or replant those myself. The old family owned business wouldn't ever have let this happen. read more

We were looking to do some landscaping to provide some privacy and obliterate a neighbor's interesting construction project. As seniors, we were finding prices were more than we wanted to pay for what might be a short time. We almost skipped Moon Valley because of their high-priced reputation, but I'm glad we didn't. We met with a designer who solved our problem for a more reasonable price. The installation was on time and the great crew chief (Javier) followed my direction and then decided that one of the dozen trees was not of the same look/quality of the others (It was very one-sided) so he decided not to let them plant it. This was an impressive act for proactive customer satisfaction. They came back yesterday morning with a new tree and we are now really happy when we look into our backyard. read more

I was greeted by Leon who in my opinion is one of the friendliest most knowledgeable people I've met and this includes other businesses outside of the nursery industry. He did not try to sell or push any plants onto me that weren't gonna be right for my home environment. He answered every question I had made sure that I understood the correct process for planting of the plants, the watering schedule and also made sure that we left with the moon juice.
