UPDATE MAY 2019: Well, the bougainvillea are pretty-much cooked. Maybe it is the soil. The mystery will not be solved. Tyler or MVN called me to suggest a different solution. My "guarantee" was about to expire and he took the initiative to reach out to me. We decided on Oleander. He showed us a couple of colors and we scheduled an install date. He took the initiative to get everything done. The truck and guys showed up a few minutes early and got straight to work. They all hustle and work very cooperatively with each other. They counseled me on watering schedules and when the plants would be dormant. They hauled away the dead bougainvilleas and other than the new plants, you would never know they had been here. Tyler followed up today both by email and phone. So, in short...redemption is there's. Had this day been taped, it could serve as a training video, Outstanding! read more

After an excellent experience with the salesperson, Leon (I recommend finding him btw), I had an issue with the planting of a Giant Agave. I feel the crew was possibly outmatched for their experience level. However, after speaking with Tyler and explaining the how the planting went and sharing photos, Tyler immediately offered to make things right by replacing and replanting at no additional charge. So, I picked out the replacement and scheduled the removal of the damaged and planting of the new. This time the planting experience was a completely different story! The crew was lead by Don and Eric. Unlike the initial crew, It was easy to tell these guys had worked together for some time as there was zero "bickering". In fact, they were all extremely polite and respectful with each other. Each knew exactly what to do and when to do it. A true team effort all around. I completely understand the Giant Agave can be difficult to plant. Not just due to it's physical size and weight, but they are fragile and relatively easy to damage when handling. These guys left such minimal markings on the plant I was truly amazed. Again, fantastic job by Don and Eric's team on the removal/planting. I tried to share photos but they would not upload. I will give you 5 stars if you please read this review and when you do take the names down of these folks who have made the experience well I'll let you read it first then you can determine the experience . To the Corporate Team, I met Jon on a warm sweaty Saturday afternoon at the Tatum location and he showed me some column ficus trees I was not sure I'm making the purchase until I brought my wife back the next day. On Sunday John gave me his operation managers name Tyler who met us and we discussed our situation and our goal. The word go big by my wife ,lol, was used in determining our purchase so we selected a 36 inch box . After this great experience in the yard We were then called in a few weeks and notified of the delivery time. I was contacted by a gentleman named Chris who told me they were on the way and be there in 20 minutes they were there in exactly 20 minutes. There were six crewmembers who immediately went to work unpacking and prepping this tree while Chris and I walked to survey how this tree was going to get to the backyard. Every member of the crew worked so hard whether they were packing prepping digging pushing the tree operate they did a fantastic job in 109° weather. Chris did a great job positioning the tree the way we wanted it the crew cleaned up the yard like they were never there. After getting final watering instructions from Chris I went out and thanked each of those hard-working crew members individually they all did a great job. I then sent a message to John to reconfirm my watering for the next four days. He has responded in a timely manner to every call or text which has been greatly appreciate it. This was a large purchase for us and we want to make sure that we are following every detail instruction. We couldn't be more pleased with the entire process to this point but today I received a follow-up email from Courtney who wanted to get my feedback on my delivery and installation and the entire process. She was instrumental in getting me the link so I can leave this feedback which has been very lengthy and well-deserved for all the efforts your team has gone above and beyond. To corporate leadership please tip your hat and give my thanks to John Tyler Chris and his entire crew on September 8 who delivered and installed the tree and to Courtney for the follow up email to allow me to share my feedback. Long story short, Moon Valley will rip you off. If you go to Whitfill nursery, they'll give you the same quality for half the price. Oh and they don't work based off commission, so they don't upsell you for the same stuff you can get for a way better deal. Moon Valley badmouth Whitfill and lied to us. This was the BEST experience we have ever had with a nursery! We went to the Tatum Scottsdale Moon Valley nursery. There Bill Fienhage was SO knowledge about desert trees. He knew all about each of them - pros and cons. This was helpful in guiding our selection. Same was true of our prickly pear. Then today Don Coffman and the men with him came and planted the tree and prickly pear. Don answered all of our questions regarding maintenance of the tree, and I had a lot of them! The whole group was friendly, and they did a great job! They even acted excited with us about getting our tree. It is so rare nowadays that any company is this organized - truly organized. Everything happened exactly as was described, and people showed up when we were told they would show up. Wow! Last but not least, the tree is beautiful. We picked out the exact one we wanted ourselves. It all felt so personalized. read more

I have done business with Moon Valley for several years. The customer service is always excellent. This weekend I worked with Larry, who took the time to review numerous options for large open spaces in my yard. He is extremely knowledgeable and stayed late to finish my order. I highly recommend working with him, if you are shopping at the Tatum location. I do wish they had an automatic 12 month warranty on trees. They only have a 90 day warranty. I added an extended warranty for a year (for a fee), but both of my large Ficus trees died at 13 months and they were not covered. They were VERY expensive. I had another tree die within 12 months and Moon Valley is replacing the tree. Given the cost of the trees, I hope MV considers offering 12 month warranties with no additional fee and then has an add on policy after that period of time. Numerous nurseries have a 12 month automatic warranty and I think MV should really look at this issue. Overall, I think MV is a good option. The customer service and quality of plants and trees are excellent. read more

Our son who had surgery 2 weeks ago and was using a walker came with us. Immediately Larry got the golf cart, making it easier on our son for sure. We had researched several trees that we were interested in and Larry showed us each tree we were interested in and gave us the pros and cons of each tree. He showed us all sizes and price ranges. After I posted the original negative review, Tyler from the Tatum location called me and said he wanted to get me another tree that I would be satisfied with. He had one brought to his place and had me come look at it to be sure I was happy with it. I was and they just finished the replacement. A much nicer tree! Mistakes can and do happen. The real test is the response to a mistake. Tyler and Moon Valley made the effort to find out what my dissatisfaction was and then did more than I expected to resolve it. I am impressed with their true customer service and will now be a loyal Moon Valley customer and referral source. read more

Went to Moon Valley Nursery today and my elderly mother tried to ask a few questions, which were greeted by absolutely rude and condescending comments by a number of the employees (all males, we didn't bother to ask for their names). Their prices are crazy expensive...if you do that one would expect great customer service. This was the opposite. It's so disappointing because they are right around the corner from our house. I love supporting local places but I need them to have at least as good of customer service as the big boys. Here, I found friendly people, but service was completely aloof. Once we found someone to direct us where to look for a specific plant, they walked away, leaving us to walk over irrigation tubing and in muddy, wet areas to select a plant. Then, we got to carry the dripping plant a few hundred yards to check out. But...there was no one in the office area to check us out. So we stood there like morons for a minute or so before someone appeared. I grabbed a few very small succulent plants and asked for a bag since youknow, they are likely to fall over in the car ride. After getting 3 people involved, they gave us a bag that was larger than a kitchen trash bag...ensuring the plants would definitely fall over in the car making a mess (but hey, at least it was contained to the bag). Prices are decent or slightly better than national chains (plus it's local!) but I won't go out of my way to go here again. Maybe you'll find excellent service for the big ticket items (trees and pottery). read more

The staff and crew at Moon Valley location on Eastern delivered as promised. After a site visit Michael helped us pick out 3 beautiful full sized Oak trees and Matthew explained the planting process and scheduled everything from tree removal to planting the 3 large trees and a beautiful bottle brush. Great communication. We were notified the day before arrival, the morning of the appointment, and the crew showed up on time as scheduled. It was a big job that took most of the day. Brandon and his crew were hard working, professional, courteous, and completed the job to our satisfaction. We have lived here over 40 years and looked to this nursery for guidance. We recently moved to the area and were looking for someone to help redo and/or improve the landscaping at the house we just purchased. Someone from the nursery came put and looked at our property and was very informative and helpful. He was going to draw up a proposal but suggested we come look at the plants at the nursery to see what we liked. We did just that and again the gentlemen was very helpful and we were looking forward to getting the proposal from him. This is where the 2 stars come in. Mind you I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because the encounters we did have were pleasant. No one ever called back! My husband called and emailed the gentlemen to get an update and again no response.i believe it has been close to 2 months now and let's just say we will now look for another landscaper to help us. It is baffling to me that after all the time we spent with him he never followed up with us. Maybe the job was to large.. Which again makes no sense. We would have been a substantial customer for many years. Now once again looking for a good landscape company! One that actually wants our business! read more

I am not a green thumb but, Jeremy made me feel like I could be! I was on a mission to buy a cactus for my deck because I figured that would be the hardest thing to kill, since I do not have the greatest track record with the viability of vegetation. I am not sure why other reviews are complaining about selection because this place is HUGE! I felt like I was in a plush tropical forest :) Jeremy ended up steering me in another direction and asked me a smart question, "Why don't you buy something useful? That can be your incentive to keep it alive." EUREKA! So, we (more he than I) ended up making a 'mohito bowl', which is a pot with a lime tree surrounded by various kinds of mint, perfect for making all kinds of wonderful fresh beverages! I did not even know there were so many kinds of mint (I ended up with orange mint, pineapple mint, spearmint, chocolate mint, lime mint and lemon balm)! He also noted it would make my balcony smell wonderful and if I opened the sliding glass door, my house would fill with the clean aromas of fresh lime and mint. I am forever SOLD on Moon Valley Nursery. Not only is the selection great, the prices fair, but the help is helpful and most importantly CREATIVE! I posted a picture of my 'Mohito Bowl' put together...I managed to get it together myself. My one complaint: I had to get a little dirty Haha! Bottom-line if you are looking for some vegetation, whether a pro or a novice, this is a great place to start! Also I should mention, there are lots of VERY cool cacti here too! read more

I had the worst experience with this company. They had no problem when I purchased items from them. Right away I started having problems I spoke with 3 different manager they were very nice and I followed their suggestions. The problem still was not resolved and they stated they would replace the items. I never heard back from them. I would never do any business with them or refer anyone to do business with them. Many of my friends were witness to the lack of customer services I received. Be careful of who you do business with read all of the review not just the ones that are good. read more
