Moon Valley is the best! They have great (healthy!) products and they stand behind them. We bought 4 huge trees and 2 needed replacing. First, they sent an arborist to assess, then helped us pick out 2 replacements. Today they planted the new trees and went above and beyond in repairing an irrigation situation. Tony Flores and his team were on time, professional, respectful and very concerned with helping us attain our best result. UPDATES When I went to MVN their opening weekend, yes I was that person- I was so excited to work with them as my mom in AZ raved about their service and quality. My goal was to create privacy in my back yard. The plants selected did NOT meet the goal. After they were planted I was told they would take years to grow into what I needed (by another service rep). Long story short. I had them replaced. 5 tree/shrubs were replaced along my fence line. 4 did fine, 1 did not. I called MVN several times between planting (Sept) and today (Dec) and each time I took a photo and let the person know that ONE tree was not doing well. Finally, when the one failed the scratch test I again reached out and sent a photo. I expected them to say no problem we will replace it. Instead they asked about my watering scheduled for the past 3 months. I reported that I had watered all 5 the same. Again 4 were doing great 1 wasn't. They were all planted within 1 ft of each other and it was the middle one of 5 that died. They still pressed to know my exact schedule. Then they said I needed to come in and talk to a manger. I in turn asked for a call back from the manager and I would happily share the photos I had taken over the last 3 months. No response. That was monday, today I messaged again and I was told that a GM would get back to me on Sat sometime after 9am. I have reached out to customer service and am writing their response as well as the GM's. I will update but felt the need to post as someone who has spent over $6k at this nursery. read more

Before I go into detail on what happened please shop around, we found the same trees and plants for less cost and that does not mean less quality. The nursery we purchased from offers free delivery for their bigger trees, free year warranty and a cheaper delivery fee. WE DID NOT PURCHASE from Moon Valley. To be honest this place is okay. I wanted to like this place as it was referred to us from our neighbor who is getting a buy 5 get 6 trees special. We went in two separate times and both times greeted and got our questions answered. I don't have any cons to say about that part of it, the staff is knowledgeable. The first time we went we wanted to see a specific tree and if they had it, they did but we were not ready to purchase because we were comparing with other nursery's. So a week later I called and asked about their specials, warranty, and delivery and a sales rep named Nico was very nice and we exchanged numbers and emails. That was about how far the niceness extended. The second time we went in and while Nico confirmed a time to meet us and talk about packages the next morning we get there and he was with another customer.... Okay no big deal I thought but as we walked around and picked out what we like the sales rep we were talking to all of a sudden didn't know what package we could get because we didn't want everything in their standard packages and everything they offered our neighbor got , they didn't even say they can offer that anymore. Our neighbors have a signed contract with them I saw what they got and all of a sudden it was as if they don't do that at the nursery'. It was just a bad experience over all and not very professional at all. Product aside I felt disrespected and treated poorly. I have not ever been treated like that before. What makes it worse is that the next day Nico called to see when we are coming back later that day and the next. I give it to him for following up but I told him, we came in twice and no one was helpful and that we will not come in for a third time with out knowing the package. . I was not going to do that with out knowing. He did not respond after that for a week and I honestly thought that was it and it was done. But then a week later he mysteriously called me and when I told him we bought from another place .... In the most jerk voice he could muster he said "well come back when your trees die." If you read this long and it make sense then go anywhere else for a nursery... I don't have time for the pettiness, rudeness or to be treated poorly. read more

I have gotten two sets of trees from Moon Valley and had to use my warranty to replace some of them. From my salesman, James Sirbek, to the digging crew (I forget the name of the crew lead), to Tony Flores, my planting manager, and all the crew members- everyone has been incredible. Tony and his crew have been to my house three times and every time, he and the crew treat my property with the utmost respect and show no impatience with my pickiness. I bout 7 trees they talked me into getting 2 red push pastiche and 5 evergreen trees. In total 5 have died, they did replace 3 but two have died since and cannot be replaced. These trees are evidently very slow growing because nothing has happened in height or width. I am very unhappy with the trees and the outcome. I feel as if they took advantage of my not being knowledgeable and sold me trees that are not good for the area or what I was looking for as far as growth and coverage. They are expensive and I would not recommend! read more

Buyer Beware! We have been very kind and patient with Moon Valley Nurseries t off of NE1604. We purchased 6 Texas Sage plants with a warranty in early November (the price was outrageous) to be delivered and planted by MVN on November 17, 2025. They never rang the doorbell upon their arrival on that day. I heard noise out front and told my husband to go outside and look. My husband started to speak to them and that is when he discovered that they could not speak a word of English. The only guy that could speak English was the guy overseeing them doing the work. He discovered they had already dug holes and had planted three of the plants and were already covering the plants with soil. My husband pointed out to the guy that could speak English that they had left the irrigation system out on one of the chairs on the front porch. We have photos to prove it. They planted two of the other plants on the side of the house and took one plant back with them because of the horrible damage they did to that side our irrigation system as well. They Literally Destroyed Our Sprinkler System! They had staked some signs of Moon Valley Nursery in our front yard and we purposely left them out so people in our neighborhood could see them and take note of the horrible job they had done and how long it took them to finish the job. The tarp, rocks and soil stayed that way until the day before Thanksgiving. They told my husband they were too booked up to finish before Thanksgiving. They only finished before Thanksgiving because we told them if it wasn't finished before Thanksgiving my husband was going to return their tarp to them and hire someone else to get the done. They told us to hire someone to repair our Sprinkler System and that they would reimburse us for the repairs. I will not bore you with all the details! So here we our over a month later, after several Emails and Phone Calls later, "STILL NO REIMBURSEMENT!" Today (12-27-25) we were told one of the Top Ten Lies, "The Check is In The Mail!" Who hasn't heard that LIE before! The only reason for One Star Rating is there is No Negative Star Rating! I see a lot of great reviews on here praying you are one of the ones that has a great/wonderful experience With Moon Valley Nursery! read more

Jeremy and the staff at Moon Valley Nurseries were great throughout the entire process of replacing two mature palm trees that we lost in a local freeze last winter. In visiting the nursery, the staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgable. I enjoyed the wide variety and selection of plants offered by Moon Valley, in comparison to nearby competitors. He was very communicative in explaining the entire process from selection through to installation. He was prompt in letting me know about the required utility inspections, as well as the installation time window. The installation crew was on time and very professional. They left me with some care instructions, as well as an update that I would be contacted in 2 months for a follow-up inspection, as well as the benefits of the care and warranty plans that we purchased extra. We met a sales representative at the San Antonio Home Show on 10/7/23. He was very informative and friendly and invited us to the open house. We attended the open house on 10/8/23. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They have a very organized property and a wide variety of beautiful, healthy trees. They may seem expensive but one should consider the amount of professional advice and care you get both at the time of purchase and after. GM Jeremy completed our purchase and answered all of our questions. Before the planting day we changed our minds about which trees we wanted. Ismael(?) handled the exchange easily for us. Our 3 beautiful trees were delivered and planted on 10/28/23. The planting crew led by Mario was friendly and efficient. Moon Valley is amazing, but VERY expensive. We lost all our front landscaping and only the 100+ old oak tree survived. I went Moon and a very nice young man sat down with me, looked at my pictures, and said he could design a beautiful new garden. After over a month trying to get his visual recommendation he finally emailed it. I admit it was beautiful, but so very expensive. We just couldn't afford it. They only offer full sized plants and trees so I'm sure the quote was worth it, especially since they also deliver your plants and plant them. Unless you have a very fat wallet, this may not be your nursery, it wasn't for me. read more

Dealing with this nursery is a nightmare. We are working with David and after visiting the Moon Valley on 1604 in San Antonio and shown what we will be buying we purchased 7 Japanese Blueberry trees to be planted in our backyard. I discussed the purchase 2 weeks ago with a professional landscaper who told me he planted them at a home 4 doors down from our home and even after double wrapping them to protect them, every tree froze and had to be replaced. We told there may be some leaf damage, not that the trees would actually freeze. We also paid for additional maintenance for our trees. We were scheduled to have our trees planted on May 1. Shortly after the conversation with the landscaping company who will be landscaping the front and the rest of our backyard, my husband attempted to contact David to see if it would be possible to switch our order to Washington Cherry trees. David would not return my husbands calls after leaving several messages and speaking with another associate there. So, my husband had to drive back to the nursery to find David and David said it would not be a problem. We planned to go ahead and move forward with Moon Valley and stuck with our May 1 planting date. We both took the day off work to ensure proper installation. Thank God we did. The planting crew showed up with some nasty 2' tall shrubs we could have purchased anywhere else for $50 not the $500 we are paying for each tree. The planting crew broke limbs off two of the shrubs when they were unpacking them from the truck. When I saw the size of the shrubs. I immediately stopped the planting and told the foreman that's not what we ordered. He told me to call David. We did an he argued with us for about 15 minutes saying he was not available the prior week, lame excuse after lame excuse. David finally agreed to "let us know when the other trees come in" Are you kidding me? I would never recommend this nursery to anyone as we have not heard anything to date about when the trees will be here, when we should plan on using more time off work. To me, this is a typical bait and switch. David showed us what we would be getting if we chose either the Japanese Blueberry trees or the Washington Cherry trees. I have photos of the trees he showed us and that is not what they tried to deliver to us last Wednesday. What they brought to our home were some cheap leafless shrubs. Also, the planting crew was not prepared to plant as they did not have any mulch to complete the job. We both work very hard for our money and this level of service is unacceptable. I realize now we made a mistake trusting this salesman as I asked him since they did not deliver what we paid for if we could has a refund. He said sure, "it will only cost you another 10% restocking fee" As I said this experience has been a nightmare. Buyer beware. read more
