Going to Shades of Green is like visiting a botanical garden. Lots of shade trees for comfortable browsing during warm San Antonio days. Beside plants they have a lot of cool fountains you can purchase. I have purchased annual vegetables and flowers here for decades. Sad to see them close, but looking forward to their next chapter.

Shades of Green is a little oasis in the middle of San Antonio!…read more This nursery is one of my favorite in the city because of how peaceful and calm it is. They have a huge selection of both indoor and outdoor plants, and they just keep adding more and more selection of plants to their repertoire. If you love indoor plants, you have to check out their greenhouse. It always has a huge selection of plants from all sizes. They also recently opened a section of cacti and succulents which is super cool. I am not really into those plants, but just walking inside that section makes me feel like I am in Arizona or somewhere else. Frankly it is just magical how much one section can change to the next. Also, the service here is always excellent. I've got some amazing recommendations and tips to take care of my plants from the people that work here. In regards to the value, I think their prices are great for a small business. Anyhow, y'all can see I really love this plant nursery and I think it is a must if you are looking for a new plant baby or just want to take in nature.

Simply put the owner is very full of himself, and takes business questions personally. Rather than accept his own coupon, he would rather not do business with you at all and tell you to your face to never come back. i guess he must be busy to turn away customers like that. It was not a small order, being well over $1000 in flowers and trees. The hired help is variable in knowledge and ability. They list their hours as being open until 6:00, but they shut down the cash register at 5:30 and basically chase you out after that. Not welcoming or friendly at all. If you have to have plants, and are willing to put up with people who basically don't care about you as a customer and are more interested in doing things their way, with their pride, and with their (self) hurt feelings than they are with providing you with good customer service, then I guess you could go there. I won't. Not after the way I was treated. I wouldn't want anyone I know or like to go there either. Sometimes it is not about the price, it is the principle. They seem to want to stand on their principle that it is OK to treat their customer with less respect than the dirt they sell, then chase you and your money away when you challenge them on their actions. So I will stand on my principle: I deserve respect as a customer just as they do as a vendor. If they do not want to be honest and respectful, they do not deserve my business, and I would suggest they do not deserve yours.
