If you are looking for a true Aveda salon, I do not recommend going here. They did not do any of the Aveda rituals during my appointment. They didn't even offer. Also, the salon is just the same as any typical salon you would walk into. It is not super relaxing or calming, just regular old salon style. They assured me that Crystal would be great because she is their trainer. That being said... Pros: Crystal was nice. The front desk was nice. Aveda color is a great product. Cons: The cut. AWFUL! My sister has called me grandma for the last couple months now. Crystal mentioned I had hair like her, thinner, new growth recovering from pregnancy, etc...So I was very surprised when she took texturing scissors to my hair like a crazy person and hacked the crap out of it. no joke. It truly looks terrible and is very hard to manage now and honestly looks nothing like the cut I showed her. I showed her a few pics of things I liked and she refused all of them except the one she liked. I was also looking to change my color, however she only wanted to do the color that she liked. She did say she'd do the color I chose, but then gave me fifty reasons why it would be bad, so scared me out of it. And her being their trainer and an educator I felt it was safe to trust her recommendations. And, less importantly, but still of consequence to me is that the conversation was very lacking. She was not enthusiastic or upbeat or chatty AT ALL, which is something I enjoy while some stranger is touching all over my head. It just makes it less awkward. Just personality, but I want to have someone I click with cutting my hair. To be fair, I should have said something at the time, but 1) I was afraid I'd cry and make a fool of myself, honestly. And 2) I definitely did NOT want her trying to fix it. I will have to wait at least a year for it to grow out again to where I can get it cut again somewhere else. Again, I do not recommend if you are looking for a good cut, color or a TRUE AVEDA experience. read more

I had a great experience recently at Salon Magnolia. This was my first time in any salon and I think they set the bar high. The inside is clean and bright and every single person was so nice. I was greeted by a friendly member of the staff before Sarah whisked me away. Sarah was so nice and listened to what I wanted and kept a lively conversation as she worked on my hair. I was extremely nervous as I have never dyed my hair before. I have lots of very thick hair so it took a couple of hours to complete but I ended up loving the final outcome. While my hair was in foils another staff member came over and gave me a hand massage. I was in heaven. And afterwards Sarah styled my hair so perfectly! The only thing that bothered me was that I was originally quoted $120 (in person- so they saw how much hair I had) but they ended up charging me $200!!! And I had already given a very large tip to my stylist. I then didn't have enough cash to cover it so I ended up charging to my card. I was too embarrassed to question it. So other than the shock of the final price I would say this was a nice place. read more

This was my first time in this Salon, and I'm a fan. I've been to some highly rated salons that didn't even come close. They were friendly, clean and punctual - important to note this because again, some of the other higher rated (potentially higher end - though I don't know what makes them so), didn't even look at me when I walked in and have this air of they're better than the rest of the world and they'll only pay attention to you if you're carrying your LV bag and dressed to the nines. Not here - I walked in after working out and they greeted me with a great attitude (I'd assume smile too, but couldn't see because of the mask). Madi was my hair expert's name and she was fantastic. I've finally found my hair person! She was absolutely amazing -listened to what I had to say and offered helpful suggestions. Truly this place is a little gem tucked away in downtown Camas and is now my official go-to. read more

I went here after a horrible experience at a near by salon. I was super nervous trying out a new salon. My appointment was with Shannon. She made me feel very comfortable and did such an amazing job on my hair. My hair had been over processed, and fried. I got a full spectrum highlight and cut. Now I feel like I have hair again!! I've lived in this area for only 6 months, and relied on Yelp a lot for guidance. It isn't always reliable in my opinion. Or maybe it's just that personal services like salons are really subjective. Maybe I just have high standards. But I've tried to find the top of the line salons in the Vancouver / Portland area, and twice have been disappointed. I was short on time recently, and decided to forgo the trip to Portland and try a local salon. I was a little concerned when I walked in to Salon Magnolia because there was nobody there when I walked in (a couple of people showed up before I left). But it was all for naught. Emily did a great job! No one else up here has gotten my color or cut right - not even Dosha in Portland! Emily at Magnolia made my hair gorgeous! And it didn't take a day and a week to get my hair done, which is almost as important as quality to me. she also tinted my brows for me - FINALLY with the perfect color! And she waxed my brows - perfect shape. The service was great. The "complimentary hand massage" was more like a light "brush" with my hand than a massage, but it was complimentary, so I guess I can't really complain. And it was not done by Emily. I have been looking for a new salon for a year or two, and I know quality hair care is not cheap, so after looking at over a couple dozen salon's in my area (on line), I decided to visit the Salon Magnolia last week and meet them in person. They were very courteous and eager to answer my questions, and I liked what I saw and heard, so I booked my appointment. Today was the best hair treatment I've ever received! Shannon was my "color adjuster" extraordinaire! My true hair color is a shade of blonde that is hard to duplicate, but she managed to take my brassy mess (I will never touch a box of hair color again!) and turn my hair into the prettiest shade of blonde, it looks like what I remember my hair looking like before I messed it all up with a boxed color years and years ago. Shannon also added some highlights and did a fantastic job of making them look natural, and that is exactly what I asked for. The hair cut she gave me is the best I've ever had, and I'm picky! It was the best money ever spent on my hair, and I will definitely be a returning customer. read more

I had not been happy at my initial trip and colorist at this salon. After reading a google review I was not expecting a great response when I had sent an email to the owner about it. I did have to leave 1 message before I got a response but when I did, it was very welcoming, and they had asked me to return so that I could love my hair. Being a new mom, this first salon trip was very important to me. The owner had me come back and set me up with Alisha to fix my hair. She is as adorable as can be, and she gave me what I had asked for the first time! She was great and paid attention to what I needed to fix my hair. The receptionist had also given me a relaxing hand massage, and I had my 1 year old with me that she spent time entertaining and gave him a little hand massage to, which he loved! They also offer this new nail clean up and polish, that gave my nails a clean, polished, natural look that I had been trying to achieve. They aren't retailing the matte nail polish yet but I will buy it as soon as they do. If you ever stop in at this salon, ask for Alisha, she will be my permanent stylist now and she turned my opinions and experience into a positive one.
