We have been utilizing Moore Lane Vet for several years now and I cannot say enough about how great they are. The front desk staff are extremely welcoming and professional. The techs have all been very responsive to our senior pets' needs and treat them as if they're their own. The doctors all have a tremendous wealth of knowledge and have helped us navigate our medically complex animals with great care. Their facility has all the equipment necessary for just about any emergency or procedure your pet may need which really sets them apart from other clinics in Billings. We have/had 2 very senior dogs and the expertise of Moore Lane has helped us navigate their latter years well beyond what we had expected from them and we were able to get and give a couple extra years of companionship and love. We lost one of them this year at almost 17 and the other is about to turn 16. We cannot say enough great things about all of their staff. It's a tough business to be in and they always manage to greet us with a smile and make us feel like family. read more

So my dog was hit by a truck and we rushed him into Moore Lane Vet Clinic. My step daughter is a vet tech and examined the dog prior to taking him in and said he was very injured and he would not survive the night. I took him in to have him humanely put down but before we could explain they took him into the back and preformed examinations and procedures we did not ask for, only to tell us that the dog would not survive the night. To be clear on this point, anyone could have looked at our poor dog and within a few minuted came to the same conclusion. With tire treads in his fur across his abdomen and chest, he was not long for this world (he went under both tires). Moore lane refused to put down my dog until i paid them 700 dollars. They actually came out after doing ultrasounds and giving him pain meds to announce that yes there was nothing they could do and that they needed to put him down he was in alot of pain. Then they told me i would have to pay before they could put him down. I put it on my credit card because they were the only place answering their phones on memorial weekend and i couldnt stand to see our dog suffer anymore. My son was his favorite and so i left the decision of what to do with his remains up to him. He wasnt sure but decided that his collar was enough. They put our dog down. The next morning (the dog was put down the night before at about 8pm) my son had a change of heart and decided he wanted the ashes. I told him there was a chance they already disposed of his remains, but i would try. I called 4 times over the next two days and a desk clerk answered everytime, but gave me the same answer everytime, they didnt know where the remains were and they would call me back when they located them. The last two times they told me to stop calling they would call me if they had news. Its 4 days later now and no one has bothered to call me to say the obvious thing, they dont know where he is and they dont care. This business milked me for unnecessary testing, refused to put my dog down untill i paid, then didnt evem have the common courtesy to return a phone call. I hope everyone with pets reads this and will avoid this business at all costs. They are greedy hypocrites. Shame on you. read more

I am absolutely appalled by the treatment my dog received at this vet. My dog was unable to move, clearly in distress, yet they refused to even examine her without a $6000 deposit upfront. The front desk staff are always friendly and we have had nothing but good experiences with their vets and techs. Dr. Werner is willing to think outside the box and he really takes his time and explains things thoroughly. We have had everything from regular check ups to surgeries, emergencies, management of chronic health conditions, euthanasia, etc. with multiple pets here and we have never had an issue. I have taken my dog here before and had no issues with services. Unfortunately, I went in today with a friend for her dog, and service was fine at first. We got an estimate for a surgery with the low end being at six thousand dollars. My friend needed to figure out financial things because they would not do the surgery without a deposit so we left trying to figure out how to get money for the surgery. On the other hand, we when we figured out we could get the money a few hours later we brought the dog back because she was continuously getting less stable. When we got there, we offered to have the loan officer call them and tell them we could get the money in a hour but they still wouldn't care for the dog. While trying to convince them just to hook the dog up to liquids to keep her stable, they were talking to us as if we were less then and just simply being awful. We ended up taking the dog to Best Friends in the Heights, who were absolutely amazing the second we walked in the door. The prices were also much more reasonable. I would never recommend Moore Lane Veterinary Hospital to anyone now. read more

Wow, I'm not surprised to see all these bad review's. I brought my dog in last night about 12:00AM as his stomach got twisted and bloated and they were the only ones open at the time. He needed emergency surgery. I was quoted 5500+ for the surgery plus "several days of hospital recovery.." I was staying in a hotel for $270 a night so several days in conjunction with a $6k bill was not an option. It was heartbreaking to have to say goodbye to our family companion. The price wasn't the worst part, the worst part was after we were brought to a room to say goodbye, the nurse left (she was nice) and I sent my wife and child out of the room as we were ready to hand him over. There was no one to be found and the little buzzer pager wasn't working. I just stood there in the doorway yelling, hello? Is anyone there? Then a tiny bald man emerged from one of the doors and said "can I help you?" I was irritated and with eyes stinging and swollen with tears said "yeah, where is everyone? I'm trying to leave here man." He then berated me saying "there's 4 other pets here, you can leave!" Then he stormed off and was dropping F-bombs because he was frustrated and couldn't handle being busy and having someone who just lost a friend be upset rightfully so. What a joke of a man. With the exception of the one nurse, this place gives off a price gouging vibe. I think they need to retire take a vacation or take a class on empathy. Go anywhere here you guys. It's a shame.. Our dog swallowed a piece of carrot what should have been a simple procedure ended in his death at this place. His lungs filled with blood and fluid. They said he didn't need antibiotics even with a high white cell count. Wth happened on that procedure that went so desperately wrong. I can only imagine that she went down his esophagus and hit his lungs and not his stomach. I boycotted this place decades ago. Had one dog with heart issues, called in that he wasn't doing well after fluid was pulled from his chest. Told by tech that he has a heart problem. He's dying. Ummm, what? I was told that if they take too much fluid it could cause an electrolyte problem. Call if he doesn't act well and they'd put him on fluids. He of course died. Took second dog into them for a neuter. Get a call just minutes after they took him in, he isn't breathing you need to come now. Told that their anethesia guy is a full on dr and he didn't do anything wrong. (????) They have to send him into the state for a necropsy. Do I know what the results were? Nope. But they did send us a reminder that said dog still needs his shots. Yes, I flipped and ripped into them for sending a reminder on a dead dog!!! They also told us they'd pay for part of the cremation, then tried to charge me full price. Our kitty was bitten by a spider.... after explaining this and hoping she just needed TLC and fluids, doctors made an opinion that it was much , much more.... X-rays showed a "mass", it was suggested either a Barium fluid run or surgery to see if there was a mass.....we asked for an option to take her home or keep and watch overnight with fluids....the only option was one or the other so it became a roulette decision of one or the other and if the barium stopped at a "mass" then surgery still necessary. Surgery was performed, our kitty had feces in her colon (imagine that, that's it and no one acknowledged that her not feeling well was 100% the spider bite)....almost 4k later.... the cat was showing all signs of a reaction to a spider bite and they didn't listen to us, they suggested and performed x-rays and surgery for absolutely no reason. You might think "well that was your decision" but it wasn't we specially asked can we just take her home; can you just observe her overnight and we were only given the dire overboard steps with the feeling of "are you just going to let your cat die". Our modern human healthcare system doesn't follow these extreme measures! I had surgery for uterine fibroids for less than what this just cost! read more

Waste of money. I brought my guinea pig in with the sniffles, the vet saw him and told me that his lungs and heart sounded clear. They gave him his first dose of antibiotics and sent us home. 2 hours later he was acting funny and his legs were limp. Then he laid on his side, vomited up liquid and died! 2 HOURS AFTER SEEING a VETERINARIAN! I called today and ask for a refund. They told me that often guinea pigs are too sick by the time they present symptoms. They said they couldn't refund my money! Ok so rant time, if they had told me his condition was fatal, I wouldn't have opted to pay $60 for specialty compounded batril (which on chewey.com is $1.89 for cats, but still). I am in grief here and you won't even give a slight break! Multiple experiences, all bad. Only place in town not willing to scan a stray for a chip on a stray, apparently. Which shocked me. We called because of a stray that was starving and in our yard, and we wanted to keep the sweet cat...but before bringing her into the house wanted to make sure she doesn't belong to someone and that she was not going to give anything to our other cats. Simple, I thought, However, the response was rudely saying to go to the animal shelter. To which my sister said, but we want to keep the cat. We want shots and a test for feline leukemia. The person just rudely said "you know that costs money, right?" To which my sister (who is generally far nicer than anyone I've met) replied with the same tone and said, "no kidding" and decided you couldn't pay us to go there. I think because she asked about scanning they were so worried about doing something for a stray that didn't make them money--that they nonsensically assumed I must want Leukemia testing & shots for free. It was bizarre, rude, and made zero sense. , Years ago I took my 11-month-old border collie mix in because I was close by and she was choking. By the time I got there she stopped, but I decided to pay to have them check her out. The vet helping me was incredibly rude and judgementally said, "YOU KNOW, You really need to get her fixed". Which was a little shocking, given my dog had already been spayed 7 months prior, when she was 4 months old. If you feel inclined to rudely judge, then at least first ASK if the dog is altered. I mean, what the heck? I've NEVER had an animal even go into heat. I not only adopt strays, I rescue and foster too. Only vet who has ever acted like this that I've been to. It was incredibly insulting. I just stood there stunned. Not only are their prices the highest in town, their position is all about money, none loving animals. I've had multiple dogs and one other cat scanned at 3 different vet offices in the last 5 years. They were enthusiastic about helping a stray, since it takes them only a minute. It takes me longer to drive there. If they aren't in the lost and found on FB I've always had them scanned, I now appreciate the kindness more on the part of Billings Vet, Animal Clinic of Billings, and Best Friends who have proved they are more than happy to spend one minute to scan a stray, and help it get back home. They care about animals--which I now realize not all vets do. So, no matter where I find a stray, I'll drive a little farther and go there from now on. Moore Lane was SO WORRIED about scanning a lost animal without making money that they couldn't even process that I was trying to pay them money for shots and a leukemia test. We couldn't get into our reg vet for a week to get testing/shots so we have an appointment today with "A Home Vet" to have her scanned and the test for Leukemia run. I had to take my elderly kitty who was diagnosed with cancer here Sunday night. The staff was very kind and gentle with her. They let me know that they could do hospice care but at the point she was at she may never be stable enough to come home. They kindly informed me about what euthanasia would look like and gave me a lot of time to be with her and decide. I had her cremated and they already have her back to me in a beautiful wooden box that looks hand carved. They have also sent a card and took little molds of her paws. The care and kindness shown to me and my late kitty will never be forgotten. Thank you. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before taking my Pup. So On 8/29 we took him to the vet here in Laurel (friendship vet clinic, sister clinic) and they diagnosed him with kennel cough, said his heart was good. Sunday he started coughing up blood and we took him to the sister vet of friendship (Moore lane) that was a 24 hour hospitals, they said he had pneumonia on Sunday night, and wanted to keep him for observation. As of Monday afternoon he had heart issues and it just got worse throughout the day, and Tuesday morning the vet called and said he was in the final stages of heart failure. They said he would start with seizures soon and his belly was so bloated and he turned so grey. I made the call 8/31/2021 so he wouldn't suffer... 2 days! It took 2 days to go from having my Pup to no longer having my puppy. He was only 4! read more

Very disappointed with the service we received at Moore lane Vet. We brought our dog in because she wasn't doing well and wanted her to be looked at. In the end we ended up putting her down. The doctor herself was great no complaints there but the techs literally looked like they hated their jobs. No compassion at all. The one tech came in a threw a blanket down on the ground and walked away without a word. Two more techs came back in to put the iv in her leg and didn't say a word to us as well. We got a call a few days later to come pick up her ashes.. and I mean I wasn't expecting like an amazing box but it looked like a they put ply board together and hammered nails into it. Awful experience!! Opportunistic, bad communication, terrible customer service!! I called to make an appointment to have our elderly cat euthanized and was told it was $175. I showed up at the appointment the next day and was told it was now $325. I had our poor cat in hand and was confused about the price difference, but reluctantly paid because I wanted to humanly end her suffering. It took all of 5 minutes, on a weekday, during regular business hours, and there is no way it should have cost $325! They took advantage of me at a vulnerable moment. A family member was so upset by my experience, she called and spoke to the office manager, Eli. He was cold and unaccommodating, even after he admitted a staff member likely misquoted the service! They took advantage of the situation and did nothing to try to make it right and seemed more interested in making a quick buck! Take your pets and money elsewhere!! read more

While a trusted vet in town for many years, this place has really evolved into being a very poor veterinarian. They over charge in comparison to other vets in town and have very poor customer service. We had a dog come in for an emergency twice and their very inexperienced vets had very little idea about how to proceed and only suggested very expensive interventions. We then used a more experienced vet who recommended very simple treatments. Would never trust this place for our animals. They also have poor Covid sanitation procedures and very lax mask usage. read more

It's now 7 pm and $750 later... $34 dollars for 14 pills at a dosage for a 5 lb dog. $47.50 for less than 10 ml of subcutaneous saline... no wonder no one goes here. When I was paying over $100 per pound of animal flesh the girl at the desk didn't even remember who we were... it's not like we hadn't just seen her. AVOID Moore Lane Veterinary Hospital at all costs. Our 6 year old rottie was in pain and my husband took her to Moore Lane Veterinary Hospital to find out what the problem was. When he came home, he was furious. The front staff was very nice and helpful, but the vet Dr. Galvin was horrible. As our rottie was smelling her, she proceeded to knee our dog in jaw not once but three times, the last time causing her mouth to snap. She claimed that our dog growled at her (which my husband was standing right there and heard nothing) and told my husband that she would have to muzzle the dog. Our dog was in pain and this vet was horrible to her. My husband left so upset with the vet that by the time he got home, he was furious. I called the office to find out if they had anyone else available and was told she was the only one on. After I complained to the person on the phone about what happened, she referred me to an account representative who in turn told me the manage of the hospital would contact me yesterday (have not heard back from them yet). We have been to Moore Lane several times with our other pets and never had any problems, we even had one of our beloved fur baby put to rest there last year. read more

I was forewarned by coworkers at my hospital employer not to go here. But, but because I had a unique "exotic" pet emergency, was forced to attempt to use them. Staff were uncaring and essentially stupid, wasting my time in an emergency asking things like "where was your parrot vaccinated" and What color is your African Grey parrot? over the phone. Additionally, when I first called, they were more interested in how they were going to get paid. To top things off, even though I called them to let them know we were on our way in with this emergency, the only exotics vet that could assist, just went home minutes before we could get there. Either he's that calloused or staff was that inept to not tell him. One twit at the desk had the nerve to tell me too bad "and he's a really good vet". Sorry folks, but if you have enough resources to pay four inept people to sit at the front desk at 1745 in the evening, you are making too much money off of your clients and if you are this cold and calloused, you need to be out of business. What you didn't know is that you had two, emergency medicine trained nurses that know a LOT of people in this town-standing in your lobby with a beloved pet in danger. If you care about your animals at all do not take them to Moore Lane Vet. My golden retriever was sick and we needed to get her into an emergency vet because we thought she had a blockage in her stomach. When we took her in they needed to do surgery to try and figure out what the problem was. We were given a bill for the costs of surgery, the costs of overnights and medicine that our pup would need. We agreed to this cost, signed and left. We asked that they call if they needed to add anything to the bill just as a curtesy, of course we would be willing to do anything for our dog but a heads up would be nice. We received no call and was told the surgery went well. When we picked our dog up the final bill was over 1,000 more than what was originally stated, not once did we have any contact with the vet about this price. The office manager was in the building and we asked to speak to her about why our bill had gone up so much without any notice. She would not help the employee in this situation and refused to come out of her office to talk. I have never experienced worse costumer service. The worst part of this is that my dog got off medication and now is very sick again so nothing was solved and the vets won't even call back. I am out over 3,500 dollars with no solution and my dog is still sick. The manager still has not contacted me and they have ignored all of my concerns regarding this situation. If I could give zero stars I would!! This place doesn't care about your pet's needs AT ALL, they just care about making money. I have been trying to get a prescription refilled from Chewy for a month and a half...something that should have taken a vet 30 seconds to approve, but Moore Lane REFUSES to work with Chewy because they are greedy and want the money! I placed my order with Chewy and after 3 days of no approval from Moore Lane I called 4 times and was told they changed their policy because faxing or confirming a prescription over the phone leads to errors. Where was the communication to your patients???!!! It takes me an hour to drive to the vet office from my home and when I told Chewy they refused to approve my order then Chewy said I'd have to mail my prescription in. So I asked Moore Lane to mail it to me since it was a 2 hour drive RT and they said sure, we'll need to charge you. So I drove in and picked it up, mailed it and 2 weeks later found out from Chewy IT WAS NOT THE MEDICATION my dog was even on!!! Called Moore Lane again, told them I'm out of town, now out of the medication and asked them to please confirm over the phone with Chewy so I could get this medication shipped to me as I'm out of state and they said NO! Of course you could come in and pick it up. How dumb are you people?? Out of state! It is blatantly clear all they want is money! They don't have compassion whatsoever for their patients and I urge you to NOT USE THIS VET OFFICE!!! Every time I call I am left on hold for 10-15 minutes and if I request to speak to Eli the "hospital manager" I don't get a call back or am sent to someone else, maybe because he doesn't want to deal with any fall out from their ridiculous policies. I'm not a difficult person to please and all I wanted was for them to act like they cared a little about my pet. You changed your policy, fine, communicate it to your patients and in a situation like this just approve the prescription since you screwed up the original printed prescription anyway!!! I have used Moore Lane Vet for many years and they were always compassionate and caring. Their prices were on the higher end but I liked the fact that there was always someone there for the animals 24/7. Today I called to get my cat in as I believe she has a UTI and was told they only take appointments Monday-Thursday. As I work fulltime and am unable to take time off for pet appointments, I was always able to make an appointment for Saturday mornings. With them cutting back on their hours for patient care and not being available for Saturday mornings any longer, I had to ask the receptionist that answered my call (she actually was very kind- Mikayla) to please email my cats' records to me as I will have to find another vet that can take care of my animals with available hours for someone that has a job during the week. After reading the reviews below and noticing a 2 star rating, I'm glad that I will be switching. I actually found someone who's open all day Saturdays and has a 4+ star rating. I called them & they let me bring him in even tho Duke had never been a patient there. They brought out a carry gurney & we loaded him up after they checked a few things. Then we went inside, did the paperwork and were taken to a room. They took him back and did some more health checks, and said it was time. It was over quickly and humanely. All the techs and the vets were wonderful, they even let me feed him some chicken before the procedure, and did a paw print for me. Called Moore Lane Monday because our Great Dane was acting "off." They informed me of the emergency fee ahead and took all of my information prior to me getting there to help expedite the process. They were so kind when we got there - offering coffee, tea, and water to me and my two kids. After a quick X-ray they found his stomach had twisted. They got him back and started work while disclosing fees. They were very upfront with what to expect and also (kindly) talked about how this was escalating quickly and may not have the best outcome. Luckily they called a few hours later saying he made it though the fist hurdle. They ended up keeping him almost 48 hours, but checked in often with texts/pictures and phone calls. Each call ended with "he's sure a good boy." The cost was more than anticipated, but told me ahead that could be the case due to the size and type of situation. I highly recommend them, and could not be happier with everything they did for my boy. read more
