There's nothing like an adult in a toy store. When you adventure in it can be overwhelming at first but as you look around you start to find so many gems for all ages. From educational toys to board games and more. They also have blind boxes for those who are into those. I ended up getting a magnetic train for my little one to learn how to spell his name. Each piece was $7/each but I've seen some worth way more elsewhere. We bought a few things and some of them we were sticker shocked by but overall super happy to support a local business rather than a big box store. Anyway, since they want more detail in my review - I visited this store with my family and within the first 3 minutes of entering, the person behind the desk made a rude comment about my kid picking up a toy. The two associates then proceeded to glare at us and follow us around the store until we felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable that we left. What a terrible place to shop for anything. This place is a super unprofessional! The products are mostly cheaply made. Aside from that, the management is so rude and self centered. The lady that runs the place has an attitude problem and yells at customers. An elderly lady was having an issue with the poor quality of one of her purchases and she was yelling at the customer who just wanted an exchange or money back. When it was my turn she blamed the product on "customer stupidity". I'm sorry but this business is poorly run by a rude staff they YELLS at customers. I have never heard a business representative YELL, CUS, and threaten to kick out customers as this one. I'd rather support another local business than this ridiculous place that should close up and do us a favor. We started off on the wrong foot. Our first time there the shop opened 1/2 hour late and when they opened, there was no acknowledgement to the few of us waiting... that was last summer... and despite that we had a great shopping experience. This is so much more pleasant than the big box stores, lot's of fun ideas all grouped together. The owner (I think) helped us the first time and we picked up all sorts of fun gifts for the 1 year olds birthday. The personal service is nice and it's also nice to support a local business.. especially a quality one. At Christmas we were helped by a gaggle of girls (oh wait.. a gaggle is for geese, maybe it was a giggle) actually there were only two of them, but they were fun. Not everything is expensive, but it doesn't take much effort to spend some $$. The nice thing is... that we are always happy with what we purchase. Now we have to buy some of those magnetized blocks to keep at our house.. when they say ages 1-100.. they aren't kidding. read more

I wanted to leave a review for the exemplary service provided by the folks at Moore Toys & Gadgets, particularly Tabby (Tabitha?) and her team, especially in light of all the extra precautions and obstacles in place due to covid. I was looking to gift a board game to my relatives across the country around Christmas, and noticed Moore provides the option for same day delivery to nearby addresses. I entered the address online, and noting no gift option/receipt was available, added the gift note I would have liked to add in the delivery instructions, but did not expect much. Problem was, I gave them the wrong address - it's hard to deliver something to the middle of an intersection - but they actually drove to a nearby leasing office to clear it up, then searched the local white pages. We had numerous back and forth phone calls regarding the correct address, and they were polite and helpful each time. On top of that they included a hand written note, with my requested gift message, with the gift. Thanks for making this Christmas gift possible! read more

We had a horrible experience here today. My son left crying because they treated us so poorly. They were incredibly snarky as we looked around and then hovered close to my son as he looked at some toy cars - like, eyes locked on him two feet away not saying anything as if my kid (with two attentive parents standing next to him) was going to break or steal something. When I asked if we did something wrong, the worker said "I'm just looking at these" and vaguely reached out to some stuffed animals in front of her - never taking eyes off my son. We felt awkward so I told my son I didn't think we were welcome and that we should leave. The worker said nothing and instead glared as we left. We would have totally made a purchase had they not been so rude. When we got outside my kid started tearing up and we had to assure him he did nothing wrong to be hustled out like that. My son was not rowdy or rude in the store. We did not break or move anything out of place. He was looking at toys and talking to us about them, which is usually totally acceptable at a place that sells items for children. I highly recommend everyone avoid this place. read more

Kindof surprised and bummed at my most recent stop in here. Let me start by saying they have a GREAT selection of fun and adorable and actually educational toys for kids of pretty much every age- infant to middle school probably- including a great selection of Jellycat stuffed animals (my personal favorite!) so the selection is why I gave stars at all. It was the attitude of the woman working there today that really put my husband and myself off and bummed us out. We actually left after I asked her if we had upset her in some way- that is how cold and rude she was to us. I am not ever ever confrontational but I felt like I had to ask because she just seemed annoyed by our presence. All I can say is that kinder language and I dunno a frickin SMILE go a really long way, ESPECIALLY when you work at a kids store. Not sure if kids bother her or kids touching things bother her but it's kindof a toy store... and even after I asked her if she was annoyed, she still didn't change the tone or smile or anything. Very odd and off putting. Kind of wishing now that I hadn't referred so many friends and family here previously... poor service just kills me. And we may have been your only customers all morning and planned on spending a good amount of cash (not that that should even matter) but we left empty handed. read more

Awesome lil toy store across the train tracks in downtown Wheaton! I visited for the first time for my daughters bday. Small but awesome. Super friendly service. Awesome selection of puzzles i must say. The thing that really stuck out was the high prices. Pricing is at least 20-40% higher it seems like. A local toy shop owned by a local family. We're trying to spend our dollars here in Wheaton as much as possible (instead of buying everything on Amazon or at Target, as is often so easy to do), so I've been here a couple times lately for birthday and holiday gifts. Whoever's working is always friendly and offers shopping ideas. They don't mind if my kids touch everything and (oops) sometimes knock things over. On that note, it's a little on the crowded side for my taste, but I get that they're working with a small space. Assuming you're an adult in your mid-twenties or older, you'll find some toys from your childhood as well as the trendy toys of today. I like the STEM type toys in the back, as well as the interesting offerings in the baby/toddler section. I appreciate that they accept AmEx, and that I can easily have my receipt emailed instead of printed. I think I've seen flyers showing that they offer classes, but they're for kids older than mine, so I didn't quite pay attention. read more

This is a hands on toy store and it's full of fun and interesting items. They have science kits and craft kits and all kinds of non-electronic fun here. We stopped in because we were looking for putty. Are you old enough to remember Silly Putty? I had someone know EXACTLY what I was talking about and take me to a section which had LOTS of putty. I have purchased a few gifts here in the past and it is a great place. The employees are helpful, but not pushy and they generally seem to be enjoying themselves (which is great because it's a toy store isn't it?). I don't usually (ever) write reviews online, but I am writing this positive review because I went in there yesterday in a slight rush, hoping to find gift wrapping for a baby present I purchased elsewhere. I asked Tabby if they had had gift bags and unfortunately they didn't, but without hesitation, she offered to just wrap it on the spot. I was a bit stunned at the offer, but she did great and I just wanted to make sure her customer support was recognized. p.s. Took 4 grandkids planning to spend $20 each. We were ignored, then told after 5 minutes to put up whatever toys they had touched to be cleaned. Two girls planned to buy a $12 charm bracelet then add some charms. One girls charm bracelet broke as she was trying it on. She handed it to the store clerk and told her what happened. We were told we would have to pay full price for something very poorly made. Not even a discount. I told the kids to put their toys upon the counter to be washed. We were NOT buying them! I'm honestly disgusted with this toy store. When you think of a toy store you think of amazing hands on toys and good service. Exactly the opposite. My daughters friends were playing around and saw a sign that said to "try it out" she did and got yelled at for "using something that obviously isn't her age category. This is unacceptable instead you should make a sign that says don't touch if you are going to yell at people for touching it. Also I don't really think the "technology free" zone is necessary. If someone wants to sit and call their mom rather than stand and call their mom they should be able to do so. I'm not trying to be rude or get people fired but please step up your game. read more

The toy selection itself is nice. They have things that you couldn't find at a place like toys r us. But alas, that is not why I am writing this review. With the solar eclipse approaching quickly this was the last place with ANY availability of the eclipse glasses for purchase. I called the morning they were expecting a shipment and was told they may have extras once they sorted through their pre-orders. Fair enough. I didn't pre-order so I didn't deserve pre-order glasses. I went and stood in line with other people waiting to be able to purchase what was leftover. We were told the glasses would be $18 which is pretty steep, but again, nowhere else is selling them. They said they needed to raise prices (from $12) to cover expedited shipping (how much was expedited shipping?!). After waiting about 30 minutes in line the employees decided to make a list of the people in line since it would be hours before they knew how many glasses they had leftover. They said they would call us when they were ready to sell them. Great! Here's where they lose another star from me for what I consider to be unethical and greedy business practices. I returned to the store later that day grateful that I could purchase glasses even if they cost $18 only to be told that they are now $25 ($27 exactly "after tax"). I paid for my glasses but that is the last time I will be paying for anything there. I don't know how the cost rose $7 in a matter of hours. Surely they knew their cost earlier in the day. It was dishonest and greedy and I'm upset that it's more about the money than the community. I also understand that businesses need to make a profit to survive but taking advantage of your customers is different from turning a profit. read more

The girl working when we went to shop on on 8/30/20 told my 11 year old daughter to stop talking her mask off and touching her face and not to touch anything after doing so. The worker didn't realize I was behind a display and when I confronted her, she put her hands up in the air and said "No one is in trouble, it's not a big deal." First of all, my daughter simply adjusted her mask, like we all have to do. Second, if you're that afraid, perhaps you shouldn't be working with the public. The next encounter was when I decided to let the girls use up some gift card they received a while ago. As I was paying, a few young boys came in and do what any kid would do at a self serve marble display. Touch them and see which ones they might want. Again, same girl rudely spoke to them and said, "boys! Do not touch all of that! We do NOT have time to clean everything you touch!" I was discussing my experience with a few friends and neighbors, and not surprisingly a few of them had had similar experiences, and with the same worker! No thanks... we will continue to walk by when we are downtown Wheaton. I like how Yelp suggested before a review is written to be conscious of Covid-19 and that businesses are trying to do the best they can. Perhaps Moore's should reconsider how they treat their customers if they are going to stay afloat. read more

This was the first time in the store and I wasn't impressed. I was looking for a microscope for a 9 year old. The very new salesperson didn't know if they had any so she and I looked around the store and I found the only one they had. I purchased it. But when I got home discovered that it had been opened and was missing the instruction book and some of the pieces. So I returned it for a refund. Not any easy store to find things since they have so much in one small space and you need to be cautious if you are purchasing something that can be opened and then returned. read more
