Home2 Suites by Hilton Mechanicsburg - Guest room amenity

Home2 Suites is one of my favorite brands when traveling. I love the spacious, contemporary rooms…read more The kitchen is great to have also. Probably my favorite feature is the near black-out shade that the rooms have for their windows. It definitely allows me to sleep later than normal on vacation when the room is really dark. This seems like a relatively new property and it sit's just off the turnpike in a quiet business park. I appreciated the location because it was slightly removed but still easy to get to plenty of dining, interstate, etc. Check in was easy and friendly. My only complaint about this brand is the breakfast. Many of the options (breakfast sandwiches, omelets, etc) are meant to be microwaved. Yes, it's quick but the texture of microwaved bread is just bad. Would definitely recommend this brand and location especially if you're visiting the area and don't mind staying a little out of town for a great value.

I've been Diamond for 13 years. I've never been treated so poorly in my life. It was 103 degrees…read moreoutside this week. I'm staying at this hotel for two nights after doing OUTSIDE work. I approach the front desk after work, and politely ask for a bottle of water, visibly sweating and soaked. The guy (Rick) neither stands up from his seat nor stops playing on his phone. He points to the refrigerator and says "water is there"....making me go walk to it so he can finish playing Angry Birds or some BS. I'm prepared to let this slide...but he proceeds to say "$2...WHAT ROOM?". Now: I never got my Diamond Waters at check in because I use digital key (you are welcome, Hilton). I asked politely is water is still free for "Diamond" members. He stood there and didn't answer, not believing that I was Diamond. Because I was dying of a possible heat stroke from the +100 temps, I didn't argue and told him to charge the room (gave him my room number and name) and walked away. He muttered nonsense under his breath as I walked away. So I proceeded to ask his name. When he refused to give it to me, I once again gave him my name, and asked him his name AGAIN. As he refused to give it, I had to walk back to the desk so I could read his name tag. Next morning, I reported it to the morning staff. NOT once did anyone apologize. Still asking for water, the guy told me there was "filtered water" in the gym....for me to take if I was still thirsty...as I was checking out. Good idea Hilton: let me carry a paper cone-cup in my car rather than you give me a bottle of water. Keep in mind, I spend anywhere between $700-$2000/month at Hiltons, depending on location. I reported it to the Hilton customer service phone number provided, and I swear on my life the woman at one point was laughing at me. This entire conversation was recorded, so anyone at Hilton can clearly listen to this exchange. 13 years I've been Diamond. You've also ignored multiple emails over the years. You have seen my last stay, Hilton. I asked your team to give me ONE reason why I shouldn't switch to Marriott. ONE REASON. Your team couldn't give me one...and now neither can I. I'll be returning to Marriott this month for all future stays...and I've instructed my team to do the same. (I even emailed you and said I will go to Marriott if I don't get a response...guess who never responded...to multiple emails). These aren't the first emails you've ignored. My username is an alias, but this hotel knows exactly who I am. My first name is Joseph and I stayed with you from Tuesday June 30-Thursday July 2. The last thing I will say: WHEN IT IS +100 degrees outside, water should be provided to all guests regardless of status. I'm an outdoor laborer. And you won't give me a WATER!!!!! ONE CHEAP GENERIC BOTTLE OF WATER??!! I literally saw cases of these water bottles on the floor. How much is that one bottle of generic water costing you when you buy in bulk? No seriously, how much? Great Value (Walmart Brand) is currently $3.68/case in central PA. A case is 24 bottles. $3.68/24 is $0.15 per bottle. Rick (and the rest of the Hilton staff) doesn't believe my loyalty to Hilton over 13 years is worth $0.15. Do you want guests having a heat stroke?! Unacceptable, and quite frankly unbelievable. I'm glad the conversation was recorded on the phone. I hope the camera caught my exchange with Rick at the front desk. Hilton has chosen (both in the past and this time around) to ignore a Diamond member. Certainly don't stay here with this staff. Your staff is the face of the company. Is this how you want the greater Hilton organization viewed? You've seen my last stay...not just at a Home2...but at any Hilton. I shuttered to give you one star, but there was no zero star option.

First let me say- staff was friendly and generally accommodating and helpful. They are remodeling -…read moreso trying to be considerate of that. However- the TVs are place in a way that comfortably you can not watch from the bed. Beds and pillows were more uncomfortable than typical Marriott I have stayed at. Bed is also situated in way that if you are sleeping close to the wall- makes hard to get out of the bed without crawling off the end or waiting for the other person to get up. (Too close to wall). Pull out couch in the room- but like typical hotels with this feature - there were no extra blankets/sheets or pillows. When asked for refresh things- had to ask a few times to get things like toilet paper and towels. Our last night kids were running up and down hallway knocking on doors and running away- this was not the hotels fault- but went in for couple hours and disruptive.

My son and daughter-in-law picked this hotel for guests coming to their wedding reception. They have a nice outdoor courtyard at the back of the hotel which we enjoyed on Friday evening. We also enjoyed the sitting area behind the lobby to catch up with friends and family. The staff we interacted with were fantastic and helped making sure we had everything set up for a catered brunch in the newly renovated meeting room. We even got late check outs for our room and the bride & grooms rooms! I would definitely recommend this hotel!

The beds are the normal full/queen size. They were comfortable and so were the pillows (which is huge for me because I forgot my pillow and was thankful these were comfy). There is a small refrigerator and microwave and that was a plus since we were staying longer than 2 nights. The bathroom was a nice size (I would appreciate some drawer or under counter space though). It came equipped with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Cleaning rooms is every other day, or upon request. I have to say I appreciated the closet size. Although, the light in our closet did not automatically turn off as it is supposed to. I asked a cleaning woman and she didn't know either. (I did forget to let the front desk know). It could use a little more drawer space or more depth for the drawers. (my personal opinion though). The breakfast was way better than we have had before in other places. They had waffles you can make, assortment of bagels/muffins, scrambled eggs, some meat and or breakfast sandwich, oatmeal, cereals, fruit, juices, milk (they did run our of chocolate milk the days we were there) and of coarse coffee and tea. There is also a bar, which is nice for those of us who like a cocktail. Ample seating for kids and adults in the lobby area. The workout room is accessed by room key and you can fill your water bottles in here. It was nice and clean and cool (a/c). This location was convenient for us. There is a Trader Joe's out front, A Texas Roadhouse, Chick-Fil-A and a mall across the freeway. It was very easy to get in and out of. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking in the area.

The hotel is not fancy but it was clean, with comfortable rooms, our room had two queen size beds, a refrigerator, microwave, and in room coffee. Also there was a small shopping center across the street with a few places to eat. Peppermill restaurant (which had very good food), papa Johns, and I think a Subway).

The condition of the room when we arrived was fairly poor. The deadbolt lock didn't lock. Our shower was also out of shampoo and conditioner when we arrived. We had to go down to the front desk to ask for more. We also had a noisy next door neighbor who seemed like they were streaming or having conversations for hours on end overnight/early morning hours during our entire 3 night stay. This continued even after we brought this up to the staff. We were happy to be out of there when we checked out. Breakfast was very basic and often ran out of things. You really need to go get it early or things run out. Another guest even commented to us that the breakfast was worse than another nearby hotel they stayed at the night before. Internet was very slow and mostly unusable during our stay. Had to switch to my cellular connection most of the time.
