A pleasant and professional estimator came and measured for carpet - a long hallway/staircases. I also obtained a hard wood estimate for comparison. The owner came and measured. I decided on carpet and was told the carpet was fairly inexpensive - if I added carpet in the finished area of the basement, he would be able to order enough to avoid a seam in the long hallway. I also ordered area rugs. (These areas were all measured with me present) I then paid the deposit. Well the order came in and was not enough to cover the agreed upon areas. Was told a mistake was made-not enough was ordered. I would be emailed an adjusted price based on the error. Next thing I know the owner called and yelled I was not paying the bill. No adjusted price was sent. The owner bellowed "Well why not I sent it!" He did not. (Not in spam -I checked) He hung up on me. Worst of all after that verbal abuse I had to call back and ask for the dam price- he was so busy yelling and swearing he never gave it to me! 2 area rugs out of 4 were smaller than agreed upon. I had to forgo one and bind 2 to get enough to cover the main staircase landing which now has a big seam! Even had to drop off/pick up. In all fairness the installers were excellent (wished I could have hired them) so grateful I did not order hardwood -would have been an expensive disaster based on the carpet debacle. overall score zero stars- read more

I had hired Morency in 2012 and they did a great job carpeting the 5 rooms in my house, so I felt confident hiring them again in June 2021. I chose the material for new carpet and paid a deposit of half the total price. I was understanding when there were several delays, given that I knew that all contractors were very busy during that period. But in September, when we had a certain date for installation, we were notified on the actual day that they were supposed to do the job, after moving furniture, including a piano, emptying drawers and shelves, etc. , they called to say that they had miscalculated the price, and had carpet for only the three bedrooms, and we could either settle for that, or receive a refund. Having lost all trust, we chose the refund, and held our breaths until the check cleared. I understand that the business had been sold to new owners shortly before we hired them. So now, we're starting over, three months later, sadder but wiser. read more

I recently ordered a carpet from Morency based on a positive experience with them several years ago. However, as the previous poster noted, the company was recently sold and the new owner has little to no experience in the carpet or flooring business and it shows. After an unnecessarily difficult back and forth with conflicting information from multiple salespeople over product availability, I placed my order and paid a deposit, but when the installers came to put the carpet in, I quickly discovered that it wasn't what I ordered. Instead of a 15' width - which would have avoided a seam in my 14' wide room - they mistakenly ordered a 12' width, which resulted in an unsightly seem across the room. Rather than acknowledge the mistake, the owner of the company refused to accept responsibility, despite the fact that the proposal he sent clearly states I ordered a 15' wide carpet. Since the carpet was half installed by this point, he agreed to take $800 off the balance owed. Not surprisingly, when he ran my credit card, he actually charged me $800, rather than crediting me that amount. Don't do business with this company - they're unethical, unprofessional, and clueless. read more
