This pasticceria has been around since 1880! There is plenty of seating both upstairs and downstairs, and you can stand by the counter if you just want to have a quick coffee and pastry. There is a bathroom located upstairs and is kept in good condition. We came here in the morning to order some espressos and a few pastries. I'm a pistachio lover and the "Rocher pistacchio" was my favorite. They also serve slices of a variety of different cakes, including pistachio, lemon, and chocolate. With so many pastries, you simply must come back and try them all. I gladly give this venue five stars out of five.

Bread, cookies, cornettos, cannoli, amaretti, macarons, small cakes and a lot more. Also ice cream. We bought a whole bunch of their products: cornettos with vanilla, cannoli and big lot of the bite-sized mini-cakes and patisserie. The cannoli was perfect. Hard to get really good ones. And not even in Sicily it was easy to get a good one. But they pull it off perfectly here. The small bites were great as well. Some with pistacio, some with berries, some jam, some with nuts. All really good. Many of them were heavy on the marzipan. We do enjoy good marzipan, and this was one was indeed really good. We loved it. Price-wise also very fair, nice staff and a huge selection. A fantastic place. And we will definitely be back.

You see, due to a navigation (GPS) problem I was told I had reached my destination outside another place with a gelateria sign above. The place seemed to have no name so I figured it was the right place. The ice cream there was pretty lame, and although cheap, it was not satisfying. So I decided to drive further up the road when I saw the REAL gelateria La Carapina on my left. Now this place looked way better. And it was. 5 stars better actually. So a bit of background here. It's March and not really tourist season, so there aren't that many people around these parts at the moment. I've walked and driven through villages and not seen any people. And now I know why. They are all either queuing to buy ice cream here, or sitting outside this place eating it! I am glad I drove the 15km to get here. It was TOTALLY worth it! And I have just finished a week touring Italy so I know my ice cream! If you're in Lake Como, wherever you are staying, find a way to get to Gravedona and have ice cream at La Carapina. Seriously, just do it! :)

It resulted that at 7:30 PM there would be a a private function. The waiter was friendly enough to offer me one of the two remaining tables near the entrance. After perusing the menu I decided to try the ravioli stuffed with mozzarella cream with butter, sage, and pieces of walnut. The waiter was so kind and helped me, choose rosé wine, which would fit the dish. The ravioli resulted to be one of the best I have eaten in some while. The pasta melted on the tongue and the flavor of the mozzarella cream together with the butter, sage, and pieces of walnuts was a heavenly experience. I might have continued to eat this dish over and over again. As dessert, I chose the Panna cotta with lemon flavor. It came with dots of chocolate and strawberry cream. The Panna Cotta was firm and tasted great especially when mixing it with the chocolate and strawberry cream. To finish off the evening, I ordered a local Grappa. A great experience and a restaurant I will for sure revisit.
