Recently moved to the Gilroy/Morgan Hill area and my daughter was excited to show me the Centennial Recreation Center. She has a family pass and she and her children use many of the facilities and programs of this new and well-used community asset. She was allowed to sign in and show me around as a guest. I was impressed by the wide range of activities, classes, and senior services going on during my visit. What a disappointment experience with the initial application process and costumer service! Coming from Sunnyvale to morgan hill hoping to enjoy the gym and other amenities! The only young lady I meet first and gave me a tour was nice! After that, front desk staff are short, lack costumer service and knowledge about the initial app.process. All they kept saying.. go online, we don't know, we can't do much! Ask for the manager! Then called her no answer! Trying doing application got tons of emails/sign, upload . Then, an alert ..congratulations all good go pick up cards! Went there, they checked , nothing! Again asked to speak to a manager and Lord! As if I'm asking for Google CEO! Insane, frustrated! Me and my son been comming here for over 3 years now. I love this place. They have a full cardio weight traing and al kinds of equipment to get a good work out. They now have a deadlift platform and bumper plates. And a second power rack. Bravo! Word to the wise: don't leave anything you value in the basketball gym. Crawling with footpads and pickpockets disguised as local youth (at least I assume it's the youth - how said would it be for adults to do this?) waiting for you to stow your Airpods, wallet, etc. in your bag on the bleachers for them to harvest. Tempted to leave a backpack with a few rat traps carefully set inside for members of the thieves' guild to "find" next time I go in there. I kid, I kid... ...but no, really, trust noone. Also, waaaay too much badminton and pickleball and volleyball time on the gym schedule. The Y is for balling. Period. read more

!!Disappointing and disheartening....on Monday Labor day morning I went in with a guest pass to do the 10am Body Pump class and was told I could not because I was not with a member. I told the two girls I had been using this pass all week without any problem. I mentioned my friend the member may already be in the class and could I go see..I was refused, instead she said she could call him over the loud speaker and wanting his first and last name. I admit that coming to the Centennial Center has been a Godsend. Some find solitude working out in the gym with their favorite playlist on earbuds; I have found my favorite space at the daily senior lunches served at 11:30 am each weekday. The great staff service includes eating a variety of nutritional meals, while rotating to other tables and meeting interesting folk who share names and life stories. It's the best $3 meal in town; I even bring a "doggie" bag to take leftovers home for dinner. On certain days they host various extra curricular activities such as bingo, karaoke, and holiday celebrations. Free giveaways include bread, books, and COVID tests. I like to also attend the hobby and special interest classes. Please come and enjoy your life in community! read more

This place is REALLY nice. It's not as fancy or ritzy as my town's community center ( Campbell, CA ) but it is modern, the grounds are beautiful, there is tons to do and it is a pleasure to visit. The main difference between the Campbell Community Center is that my town's place shares it's grounds with a small college ( so that probably is why it's so nice ) but this place is just plain massive. I mean, dropping my Nephew off for his tennis practice today took us at least a half-mile drive into the grounds and I really can't imagine how I WOULD NOT like to be here on busy day. This place is just plain huge and resembles a park more than a community center. I wish you didn't have to walk so much to get anywhere here but I guess dem's da brakes. It took forever for me to find the bathroom and plus the 100 degree weather didn't make it any easier. At least I cooled off after I bought a popsicle off of the ice cream man! read more

Venue is Clean, staff and business is organized, the individuals working the desk are helpful and they have lots of classes. The classes for adults are great but not too many choices for my kids, they are almost tweens. The classes are a little pricey, considering that I'm already paying a lot for a membership. Pros: -clean facilities -free wifi -friendly staff -good class selection and mix of sports for east and west gym rooms -relatively cheap pricing (1 child under 21 free with any membership) Cons: -weight room only has 1 flat bench and no squat rack (only 1 smith machine) -weight room is usually pretty full (maybe 30% capacity), so you have to wait to use some of the equipment -pool area is dirty, has too many children, and not enough lanes (you have to drive all the way to the aquatic center for a good pool) read more

This is my far one of my all time favorite places to work out!! I love this place. Mostly because it's not too busy but their pilates and yoga classes are supreme. My favorite place in town, especially the kids club! Shima is a super star. Friendly helpful staff. They have kids classes during the week 45 minutes each time free with the membership. Love the cycle and Trx classes. My kids love the pool, I would say it is a bit slippery. Had a few parties at the pool and they were great. Activities for everyone all year round. read more

Recreational center with indoor pool and kiddie area. It's a nice place when trying to stay out of sun and have fun in the water. Only reason I didn't give full 5 stars was because the kid splash/squirt zones were off and never turned on. Also, the slide area was closed at time of our visit. My favorite place in town! I honestly don't know what I'd do for fitness with out the CRC. TRX and Circuit Training with Susie, Spin with Bobbie, Pilates with Jill and personal training with Nicole... doesn't get much better than that. I love all the classes that I've taken at the CRC and look forward to taking more. The team that manages the Kids Club is a life saver. They know my boys by their names and they always come out smiling. Without the Kids Club, I'd feel too guilty to leave for classes after being gone for work all day. read more

Came here for a kids pool party, the pool is inside and is fun for kids with the water playground in the pool and the lifeguards on duty. The chlorine smell was very strong and it was hot and stuffy but the staff was able to open the door to get some fresh air inside. The party room which the host rented was not clean, she had to clean it herself. read more

I rate this place as average. I took off a point due to price and a point due to variety. ENVIRONMENT: this place looks huge on the outside but on the inside it really isn't. Half of the place is dedicated to the physical side and the other half is dedicated to senior, teens, and kids day care type of things. It's right by a skate park that is free to the public and a normal public park. (lack of) VARIETY: the physical side of the building is dedicated to swimming, basketball, and gym. RECOMMENDATIONS: I do recommend the pool if you are looking to swim some laps, however, there are only 3 lanes. There is enough room for 2 people in one lane but they say that the max for each lane is 5 people?! It's convenient to have a water slide on the side if you ever get tired and a water play place on the other end for kids. They have an outside patio to dry off. You won't get sunburned because it's an inside pool. I personally don't recommend the actual gym room though. The gym is as commercial as it gets in a very condensed space. It reminds me of chickens that are stuffed into a coupe. PRICE: the price for a membership is way too much than what it offers. They do have day passes that are worth it if you really are only trying to get a swim day in or wanted to get a quick workout in. CONCLUSION: I would only buy a day pass to go swim some laps. It's pretty much the only place in town to do so unless the aquatic center is open in the summer. read more

The gym, rec, daycare and pools are great. With that said we tried swim lessons this year and were completely disappointed!!! I talked to multiple employees and still no help to get my kid into the right class. They offered to instead have me pay again for another session for their lack of teaching and follow through. So upset! My sons classes ended 2 weeks ago and I'm still stewing about it!! I will not be taking my son back for more lessons there nor will I have my younger son do them there either. I strongly urge you to do the same, since drowning is the leading cause of death in kids 1-4 yrs old. And you want them to be water safe!! Don't waste your money!! read more

It would be nice if they would actually HEAT the swimming pool. Especially now in the winter.

This has by far been the best gym I've been to (and I've been to a lot!). In reading some of the other reviews, I see they've gotten docked on not having specific equipment, which doesn't concern me too much. I don't need a squat machine to do squats... The classes they offer are awesome. I've done just about every one of them from Yoga to TRX, from boot camp to HIIT. The instructors are tough and want to push you to get better, and they take the time to notice you there so they can help you improve every time. They do quarterly evaluations on the classes and instructors too, so you have the chance to let them know how scheduling, etc works for you, and they are constantly changing things up. This is the only gym with childcare that I trust. I've been to many that are not only dirty, but downright scary. The childcare workers are kind and helpful when dropping off. And they take the time to know your child(ren). My boys have a lot of fun in there, especially when they break off to do the lego building (that's a bonus all on its own!) The pool area (both here and at the Aquatic Center) are fun for kids. I'm not a lap swimmer, so I'm happy with both facilities geared to children activities. Classes that are offered for kids are abundant. We've done soccer, karate, and golf so far. And have been happy with all of the programs. The best thing about this place is that its a place we can grow in as a family. As my children get older and want to do activities on their own, they have the open gym for basketball and such. A Teen Center. And the free weight gym encourages youth involvement and will help "train" your kids to use specific equipment. This is a place we plan on being a member of for a very long time. read more

Place recommended as place for rec fun. Place has complete weight room with plenty the tread mills. Pool area with swim lanes, water slide and kiddie pool. Two full court basketball. It also had a aerobics room with a lot of workouts scheduled for the day. Clean locker rooms. Fun place for a workout. One thing really bothered me. I went in and I left something in the car. I wave to front desk girl and she said go ahead. Had hard time finding my earphones in my car. I was re-entering and a new front desk lady was there. Kinda big blonde lady with long curly hair. I told her I was re-entering and I informed another girl. She gave me a look, that REALLY kinda look. Wow I felt like a teenager trying to sneak in! She asked for ID, told her left in locker and she gives me the look again. She says she needs ID, I repeat in the locker. She rolls her eye and says get it. As I was walking to weight room locker , I noticed she was right behind me following me. She stands right behind me, while I open the locker, I give her my ID and she actually does a stare at ID then me. WOWOWOWOW, who hired this person to police and harass the members. She leaves and I was right behind her. I had to leave ,she ruined my workout and I did not want negative vibes lingering. I will come back, I have a paid month membership. But I gonna try to pen a complaint against that big blonde curly headed lady. Everything else is good but that lady is a minus 3. Would have given 5 stars but with that lady greeting members is scary, they get a 2 star. read more

My family of 5 recently joined this gym. Our other gym closed without noticed so we were forced to find another gym. I'm actually happy that our previous gym did close. The CRC has turned out to be a fantastic place for my family and I to work out. My daughter and I attend the 5:30 am classes 5 days a week and the cycling classes 2 evenings a week. My 3 boys use the weights 5 nights a week. The only complaint I have is that the weight area is very small and it gets packed. The instructors are great! And the staff is fantastic. I prefer this gym over others because of the kids zone. It's a great area for my kids to play with both indoor and outdoor structures for them. My kids love going there and I get some time to myself once a day for 90 mins :) It is a little pricey, however if you are a parent, I highly recommend The CRC over any other gym. My son also had a swim class today for the first time and he had a blast. They made him feel very comfortable (he's 4) and I look forward to his next swim class! My husbands only complaint is that he wishes they had a hot tub or steam room, maybe in the future though ;) read more

Love the rec center love the staff except for the director of the sporting leagues. Unfortunately the sporting leagues are completely a mess. Very poorly set up the director is never there and the referee are the worst two officials I've ever encountered. Just go there to work out but don't participate in any leagues they have unless your looking for problem after problem. read more

I've been a member for over ten years and have liked the center for its cleanliness and the staff. Also the weight room! However, most of our senior swim aerobics group is not happy with the temperature of the pool. As are most of the other classes as well. Please heat the pool!!! read more

Ok, this is a great place for our family. What I love: -So many things for the kids to do, and these are included in my membership. -The indoor pool and waterslide, a family favorite. -Kids zumba and fitness classes, included: great instructors. -The senior center, my folks love it: games, lunch, computer classes, senior advice, etc. -The fitness center -The outdoor walking path -The covered parking -The child-care facility and staff -The outdoor aquatics center is included in my membership! Areas to improve: -The showers are starting to leak and need some TLC -There are times when all the aerobic machines in the fitness center are taken -Some of the Cool Kids Camp instructors are too immature -Some of the Kids instructors (swimming, soccer, etc.) are immature and don't know how to handle children very well... in general, I can't recommend the sports teachers and take the children elsewhere for sports/swimming classes. read more

I've attended various seminars and gatherings for the Realtor's Association, SCCAOR, and other businesses that have helpful marketing programs to us realtors. I remember Morgan Hill before we had a rec center. And how nice this facility really is! With plenty of room and activities for seniors and used every day by them filling a great need in our community. Then there's also the Center for the young adults teenagers with a pool table another positive activities. Of a babysitting center so children can be watched while you work out... pool gymnasium plenty of work out machinery bicycles treadmills... Really it's the first class operation. Not to mention the management team has done a great job of creating a workforce all seems to have a pretty good attitude almost every day! Something to be proud of... I'm almost afraid to tell anyone else about this place, since I kind of want to keep it to myself. This is the best gym I've ever been to. They have people of all ages, genders, shapes, and sizes. I get very self conscious at the gym, but this is a family spot for regular people so I feel really comfortable here. I've never been to a class, but I've used the pool. This place is great! Machines are clean and up to date. Kids love going to the daycare and going swimming in their indoor pool. I love the fact that I can leave the kids in the daycare while I work out and it's included with the membership. Place seems clean. They have someone wiping down the machines. I'm new to Morgan Hill and decided to check out some gyms. I ended up at CRC and was very pleased with the service. The girl who was working was very helpful and Kind (Dianne). I explained my situation to her and how I was new. I sometimes go with my friend who is a bit disabled. He has a speech problem. Fortunately the service here is very professional and kind. Not too expensive for a family of four. They have a full gym, Chinese Kempo, Basketball Courts, High energy workout classes, Teen center, computer center, Kids Club, Swimming pools and lots more to list. We come here often since we live here in the city. Its a great place for kids to hangout. Plenty of activities for kids. I highly recommend this place to any family who lives within the area.
