I put this review off for a long time. I visited here a few months ago, because I thought I'd entrust them with my precious doggie's training duties. Their two week training session sounded appealing, though the thought of leaving my dog with them with no contact for two weeks would be rough. I was okay with it, though. Until I visited the facilities. I walked up the creaky, falling apart, rickety porch, and entered the incredibly cluttered front area. A tour thru the back, where the dogs were kept, revealed rows of crates, bad smells and a sort of shady looking "vitamin" area. The back area was concrete, and pretty small, sectioned off into fenced areas. I spoke with the owner, Morgan, and thought she was a very nice woman, and seemed dedicated. When I left, I got a handful of literature . . . that was 16 years out of date. Between that, the clutter, and the condition of the place, I just didn't have a lot of confidence to bring my dog here. My husband and I got our dog before we were married. Since we weren't living together yet and our training was inconsistent. A good yelp search led me to Morgan's. During the two week training you can't see your dog. It's difficult and I missed my girl, but it allowed us time to hash out wedding plans. You can call and check in so it's not too lonesome. On pick-up day, they demonstrated what she learned while we sat quietly. When it was our turn to practice, Bailey was excited to see us, but wasn't crazy puppy excited. The choke collar worked out well. Morgan's wasn't the first place to recommend it. We don't need to use it much for correcting her. At least it's a good sturdy collar. One thing we need to work on his her coming when she's called. We don't let her off the leash at the park unless her other dog friends are there to play. She'll come back either because they do or she's tired of being chased and wants to hide behind me. The boarding is great too. They also offer grooming at a good rate too. Only once have we taken advantage of the private follow-up lessons and haven't yet done the group dog thing that meets every other Saturday. I can blame it on our schedules, but it's partly putting it off and forgetting to call. Parking doesn't seem to be a problem. For boarding you can use the spot in front that's reserved for them. Both the training and boarding are good deals. It might seem like a lot for two weeks, but if you look around you'll find it isn't. read more

I thought Morgan's Dogs would help my timid dog, I did most of the things they suggested - but no, I still allowed my dog on the couch - because its my pet - not a guard dog. I even brought her back for boarding thinking maybe she needed more structure. No, not true. Now I have a dog that used to be timid - now she has attacked two dogs and I'm scared to death that she will hurt someone. So thank you Morgan's Dogs. I am moving on to a Dog Behaviorist - hoping that will help - because my dog was a sweet girl before she went there. Not even blaming them for the plastic that was in my dogs intestines after a $700 vet bill 3 days after she got home - which they blamed me for - I didn't call to blame, I called to ask for help - I understand you can't watch a dog 24 hours a day - but all the blame is put on everyone but them. So a zero for training and a negative zero for customer service. Certainly hope I can fix what they broke. I didn't ask for a guard dog!! But thanks - now I have a mean attack dog. I hate to go against the flow here but I wouldn't recommend this place unless you have a less than dominant dog. I believe the training here made our dogs' problems worse instead of better. We had two American Bulldogs that we trained with Morgan's. After the two week "Bootcamp"I religiously brought the dogs back for private lessons and group lessons. I saw Todd sometimes twice a week with my dogs. With every new story of aggression I told them I was made to feel as if it was my fault. They'd say,"you're not correcting hard enough. You're not being firm enough." I showed them my dog's scabbed neck from all the hard corrections and asked how much harder I was supposed to be. They ordered electric shock collars next, didn't help. They just got more aggressive. I should have known that if more of the same wasn't working then I should have tried something else. But I trusted their advice and their work experience. My dogs wound up busting through a chain link fence and seriously injuring a neighbor. Months later I read an article in the Reader that featured Morgan's and read a quote that stated the business never trained a dog that wrongfully attacked anyone. I agree that the bording is cheap. Once, however, I picked up my male and was halfway home when I noticed a wound on his neck and left ear. I drove all the way back to find out what the heck happened and was told he escaped his crate and got into a fight with a Rottwieler at 3 a.m. one morning. I work with someone who had her mastiff trained there and his aggression got worse instead of better as well. This type of training is outdated and cruel. You can get much better results with other trainers. I recommend Animal Sense. read more

I have a small rescue dog that I got in September of 2009. He was house broken and had a sweet personality, but it was clear he hadn't been trained otherwise. So, I brought him to Morgan's to be sure he wasn't secretly teetering on the brink of going postal. They answered all of my questions and even provided references for other customers with smaller dogs. The places across the street from Morgan's would not do that - just sayin'. I've seen the reviews about corrections. I think everyone has a different style, just like different parents have different parenting styles. At Morgan's I've never seen or been told to do anything that, for example, "The Dog Whisperer" hasn't also done on national TV. As a total softie, but also a dog mommy who values obedience, I am 100% comfortable with the training techniques and my dog has been very receptive to them when we practice. Most importantly, I know they treat my dog well because of his positive reaction when we get to their front porch. As long as I've been working with Elana and Tillman, and the rest of the team at Morgan's, I've had nothing but a pleasant experience. read more

Elana Morgan trained my 2 Cocker Spaniel puppies 15 years ago, so when I got a new Weinaraner puppy, Maxwell, I took him to Elana when he was 4 months old. He took the training extremely well and was a different puppy when I picked him up after 2 weeks! The training was fantastic, but then I expected that. Max turned 1 on Feb 15, 2010. This review is for the above and beyond treatment Max got, personally, from Elana. I was taking a cruise from February 10-20 and, as usual, boarded Max at Morgans. I my vet info with Elana in the event Max needed care. Two days into the boarding Max exhibited signs that he needed to see the vet so Elana took him. Once there, the vet determined that Max needed emergency surgery for an intestinal issue. Because the surgery was critical, Max needed to be moved to an Intensive Care facility. I was out of town and Elana told me she would take care of everything while I was unreachable on the ship. Elana got my full power of attorney. Not only did she transport Max to the vet, then to the ER, then back to the vet, she stopped in to visit him several times during the week so he could see a friendly face he knew. Most kennels would have simply dropped the dog off and left it up to the vet. Elana went FAR above and beyond the call of duty and, partly to her attention to the dogs she boards, knew Max needed a vet. Had she not acted as she did, my dog would be dead today! Finally, she refused to accept any payment for the time she spent! If there were ever anyone with whom I would trust one of my most precious valuables, my Maxwell, it is Elana Morgan! Maybe the front porch is creaky and the space is cluttered, but you will not find a more loving and caring animal lover than Elana! THANKS ELANA and MORGAN'S DOGS!!!!!! read more

I got my dog from a rescue three years ago. She was 10 months old at the time. She was and still is very stubborn. My vet recommended that I take her to Morgan's dogs. I was skeptical at first, but since I was going out of the country for almost two weeks, I thought it made sense to give it a shot. After all, some boarding facilities would have charged me more to board her, than to have her go through Morgan's bootcamp. I left her at Morgan's. Checked in with them occasionally and had family go check on her. She did great. When I picked her up they trained me. Of the two of us, I was the worse student. I frequently take her to free group classes (not as often as either Cleo or I would like). They've also done free individual classes. They've done several with my young daughter who can master Cleo in even tough situations. What I like most about Morgans is: A. They are friendly and customer-oriented, B. they only board dogs that have trained with them, C. I never have to bring in dog food when I board her (I also buy all of Cleo's food, dog toys, leashes, etc. from them), D. their rates are the best for training, boarding and grooming, and E. Free training for the life of your dog!!! I highly, HIGHLY recommend Morgan's. I will never use anyone else! read more

They are great. We dropped our 8 month old pug off for the two week training program over xmas after hearing a great review from another dog owner. We were pretty nervous as it was our first time leaving him and especially when we saw the bigger dogs that are there also. He did great. The training was fantastic as he's learned to most importantly heal and stay and he did it for us as easily as his trainer. Great advice from the team and he seemed to really enjoy it there. We'll be back for the every other week training classes. It's hard especially the first time to leave your baby wondering what it will be like but you can feel confident they will be in good hands. I am honored to be a continuing student at Morgan's Dogs, I worked with Belle, a Chiwowa Brussels mix, she became my service dog. This has given me my life back, I couldn't go shopping unless it was 2-3 in the morning when noone was in the store. After recovering from the physical wounds from Iraq, I was faced with the emotional ones. I met Elana at a meeting one Friday and was intrigued, after a year I got in touch with her and started training with the group she had started called Wardogs. Belle and I were able to earn her service vest, we still come and train twice a week, The cost?? You ask FREE!!! If you send your dog to Morgan's, you must be crazy! We took our 8 month old dog to Morgan's based on a recommendation. I called everyday of the 2 week training period to check on my dog, and was told he was fitting in and doing great. When we went to pick him up, the trainer told us he was terrified the whole time (hiding under tables and chairs)! If I would have known this, I would have gone over there and gotten him the hell out of there. They guaranteed he would be a changed dog, only we found out, not for the best! When we went to pick him up after the 2 weeks, he was extremely scitterish and would only listen to me, not my boyfriend. When we went to pay, our dog tried to attack one of the workers there, something we had never seen before! When Elana (the owner) went to correct him, he bit her! Again, he had NEVER done anything like that before. When we confronted Elana about it, she simply said it was because he turned into a teenager and that's when they turn aggressive. Funny, he happened to turn into a teenager in the 2 weeks they had him! For the $800 we spent on training, our dog could sit, stay, and heel. (he could sit and stay before the training). He came out of there scared and aggressive. I would NOT ever recommend this place to anyone who cares about their dog! read more

This place should be called Morgan's livesavers. We had the misfortiune of being really stupid and buying a mill puppy at a really bad pet store. After being a loser and returning the dog...I swore no more pets. After being talked into getting another dog, I swore the only place that it would get trained is Morgans. This place is terrific. They really love dogs. The people are wonderful and very dedicated to their beloved barking clients and parents. I have boarded my wild animal at this place several times and he comes home well trained. Everytime I have a question or problem I will call and get great advice. What a great place! I brought my new 4 month boxer pup there for training . I was initially concerned about some stories I had heard about overly harsh corrections. I was reassured by the extremely professional trainer that I met who explained that they do receive a lot of dominant breed dogs who have years of unchecked aggression problems, and often have to be firm. My dog, being a young guy with a sponge for a brain and still quite eager to please soaked up the training with minimal need for firm correction. I couldn't be more pleased. The way Morgan's works is that you leave your dog with them for 2 weeks for foundational training. You are not allowed to see your dog during this time as this may cause setbacks. Leaving your dog is the hardest part. During this time he learns basic obedience such as heel, sit, stay, come, down, etc. When you get your dog back you get a lesson in using these new commands. This is really just the beginning however. The group classes are free for the life of the dog and are very helpful in reinforcing the training. They are also great for providing ongoing socialization with other dogs and allows for reinforcement training with PLENTY of distraction. Most importanly, you get trained! One-on-one private lessons are also free for the life of the dog. You have to schedule these a couple of days ahead of time but they are easy to get. Classes are outdoors in the summer, and in the cold, they have an indoor park across the street that they can use. Sadly, I imagine most people don't attend any classes and these free ongoing classes are really where the value of Morgan's lies The boarding is actually not bad. It is $25 per day. They let the dogs out 5 times per day and they get to play with other dogs under the supervision of one of the trainers. Only dogs who have been trained by Morgan's are allowed to stay there. The rationale here is that trained dogs know the routines and the trainers and contribute to what is a remarkably calm facility considering the number of dogs in close proximity. When I bring my dog there, he is so excited to see the trainers he practically leaps to them, tail wagging, when he sees them. Dogs are in their crates when not outside. Of note, Morgan's does not require your dog to be neutered which is a plus for those with pure breed male dogs who want to avoid neutering to ensure proper muscle and bone development. I can't say enough about the trainers. They are all great, and very experienced. Most of them have been there for years. After a group class, I mentioned that I had heard about Morgan's from a friend who had brought her Chow-mix there over 3 years ago. I mentioned the name of the dog and the trainer remembered him immediately, giving an accurate description of him. These guys really love their jobs. After a group lesson, the trainer saw me having some trouble getting the little guy in the car and gave me an impromptu 10 minute lesson on getting him in. We practiced it a few times, and then he continued on to wherever he was going. He also offered to clip the nails of any of the dogs who needed it, for free. Elana, the owner, is similarly generous and extremely dedicated, living right upstairs above the facility. It is hard to say enough. It's a great place, and considering the lessons, both private and group, that are free for life, it is an incredible value. I couldn't be happier with how obedient my little guy is, and how well he continues to develop. read more

I wish I would have looked up the reviews or asked around before we brought our pup here, and I would not have done it. Its a small storefront on Belmont you come in the place is outdated as someone else here said. dirty old looking, dirty floor. There are pictures of guard dogs and lots of clutter. When we first came there was lots of barking heard from the outside and basement and I should have asked to see where the dogs stay but I didnt think of it. It sounded great to have someone else train our dog, we just did not have the time to work with him enough to do all of it, but only differences was he learned a couple commands and he has calmed down but once the pronged collar is off he doesn't seem to know commands at all. Something about the place scared him and he looked different, calmer but in a bad way. When we came back I got a creepy feeling from the whole place and the workers there and I was pretty disturbed that they recommended against neuter and spaying dogs saying it was not natural, saying not to get him neutered, who says that!!? I want my dog to be calm but not scared, so needless to say we did not go back. read more

She takes these animals in and brings them back to health and nearly gives them away. So. the place is cluttered....but she cares about her animals more than anyone I have ever seen! When you look at the other reviews, please notice that almost all of the negative ones are people who did NOT train their dogs at Morgan's. They just walked in and made a judgement. In reading the other reviews, I wonder what's important to people - a shiny storefront and trying to find someone to "fix" their dogs so that they don't have to worry about anything OR if it's to give a dog the essentials and building a strong relationship with him/her together. I went to 3 other trainers before finding Morgan's. I'd leave after the 5 wk class at other places amazed to see the owners' dogs dragging them out the door. I trusted my 3 yr old adopted boxer to Morgan's and was amazed at the difference. They will train your dog for two weeks to address major issues and build the foundation. Then, they give you free group lessons for life. My dog was so much better and obedient after the 2 wks, then we truly bonded through training in the group classes. He LOVED them. The dog that the rescue place asked me adopt because they "thought I could handle him" has now become the most amazing, responsive, loving, obedient, protective dog. After a couple of years of my continued attention, this dog can now be off leash. He wouldn't dream of leaving my side. So if you want some trainer who's going to teach you how to get your dog to respond when you give him treats, go to one of those shiny new places. I can't say enough great things about Morgans Dogs. They are great people, caring and loving to all their animals, and truly helped us with our anxious German Shepherd Onyx. We sent our 3 year old GSD for the 2 week training/boarding class and it was worth every penny. Onyx came home well behaved, more confident, and most importantly a joy to take on walks. Our experience from start to finish was great. They even posted pictures of our girl on Facebook so we could see how great our baby was doing over the 2 weeks. Some reviewers said their dogs were "different people" when they came back, so I was initially nervous that our girl would come home and not be the same sweet, loving GSD she is. But, Onyx came home a better version of herself! More confident, more obedient and still the same loving dog she was before. Just better! The important thing to remember is that training is a way of life with dogs. You have to be prepared to do "homework" each day with your dog when you bring them home to keep their training consistent and reinforce it. Morgans sets a great foundation and its up to you to maintain it. They tell you this upfront, so while yes, you'll have a great dog after 2 weeks, if you let it go, then you'll be back to square one. Have no fear though, the homework isn't hard. Only about 15 min twice a day, which is easy to mix into our daily routine. And believe me, you'll actually enjoy this kind of homework because your dog will respond fast and remember the training and you'll be more impressed each time. We've even implemented new tricks and obedience moves with Onyx and she learned them fast. Onyx is great outside too, she is less aggressive if we see other dogs (no more crossing the street), and even several neighbors have commented that our girl is now a gentle giant. Overall, I fully recommend Morgans to anyone who is considering training. No matter the age or difficulty of your dog, give Elana a call. She is great to talk to over the phone and made me feel reassured that Onyx would be in good hands. And she understood all the issues we discussed and didn't make me feel like it was my fault or that I was a bad owner because I can't get my dog to heel on walks. I should have written this months ago, but I was determined to try to make it work. I was/am extremely disappointed with the results from Morgan's Dogs. I had heard great things about them, but my experience was completely different. I took my 17 month old boxer/beagle in for the $900 boot camp training. His anxiety and hyperactivity were out of control and I was struggling to train him. I was finally able to afford the training so I took him in. I was honestly expecting a dramatic improvement. Professional dog trainers working intensely with him for two weeks were expected to help him. I have had him back home for about two and a half months, continuously working with him, and he's pretty much the same. Has been since the day I picked him up. Oh wait, he's not the same. Now, in addition to the anxiety and hyperactivity he is now also snapping at me when I get close to him to correct him. He never did that before I took him in. A week after picking him up I called and spoke to Ms. Morgan on the phone about my being unsatisfied. She said it was my fault and that all she could do is tell me to come in for a private lesson. I countered that it shouldn't be necessary to bring him in for private lessons a week after picking him up from a $900 two week program. She refused my request to take him back in for another week for more intensive training even though I had been told that they have kept dogs an extra week or so if they were not ready to go home. My dog was not ready to go home and I feel like I completely wasted $900. read more

We sent her to a two-week "boot camp" which was expensive but worthwhile, as Sadie returned much more obedient. This review is long overdue. I brought my rescue pup here several years ago. From my experience, they do an excellent job of training dogs. However, the most important part of the training is when you pick up your dog. The trainer explains the tools that he or she has given your dog, and carefully teaches you how to use them. The trainer will watch you interact with your dog, and train YOU. If you consistently apply the tools of training, then you will have a well-behaved, family companion. If you don't, your dog will revert back to bad behaviors. I recommend Morgan's to everyone getting a new dog. read more

We are now going on our 4th dog trained with Elana and we couldn't be happier! Her individualized attention to every detail has been beyond our expectations. The current pooch, Olive, was just rescued from a shelter on Friday evening, bonded with our other two for three days and then, since we were heading out of town for the turkey holidays, we had to make arrangements for her as well. Not sure how she would do with our menagerie (two dogs, two cats) while we were gone, we called Elana with just days to spare to see if she could board and train her. Despite the short notice, she made room and made it work. The trainers are incredible, caring and tuned in to each dog's personality, quirks and special needs. I would save the $800 and go somewhere else. Not only do they keep your dog for 2 weeks, they had to keep mine for an extra week, because they didn't feel he was ready to go home. The only good thing that came out of taking him there was that he is easier to walk now. I am pretty sure they abused him. He was very scared of the trainer and if we are near a busy street he freaks out. We live in the city and he never was bothered by this before. My dog came back noticably thinner. I said something about it and they said it was because of all the activity he was doing. Being that he is a terrier, my dog gets plenty of exercise to begin with. I do not think that they were feeding him enough. read more

We brought 7mo old bernedoodle to Morgan's because she was still peeing everywhere. Morgan's was up front that they can only train them, but bathroom issues were up to us. But Elana talked to us for 30 about what to do. They are so knowledgeable and helpful. We sent our pup anyway and it's night and day. She is so much better behaved. She listens and comes and pays attention to what we tell her to do. It's amazing and so much less stressful. Of course she has 15 other great behaviors/commands but even if those weren't there, her disposition is so great. She's still the same fun-loving puppy, but knows when we say something, she should do it. She even seems to love the training and practicing. In addition to the outcome, it's so obvious how much they care about the dogs and how much love they give them. It was hard to give up our puppy for 2 weeks, but it was so worth it. I suggest doing it on vacation. You can't see them anyway, so that will help the time pass and help with boarding. I can't say enough great things about Morgan's. We've told every puppy owner we know just how worthwhile and beneficial it is. read more

All I have to say is Morgan's Dogs is Awesome. They did a great job with my stubborn AmStaff Jay and everyone I have recommended to Morgan's has nothing but great things to say. For those who wrote bad reviews about Morgan's please take a look in the mirror before judging. The two week training makes your dog trainable and the rest is on YOU! You must take what Morgan's taught your dog and use it. If you don't feel comfortable training your dog by yourself you are in luck...you get FREE group and PRIVATE lessons for the life of your dog. Morgan's Dogs is great! We took Charlie (4 yr old miniature schnauzer) there because he was being a bit aggressive with people/other dogs. We were apprehensive about leaving him there for 2 weeks but it was worth it and Elana posted pictures of Charlie on Facebook so we could see how he was doing. When we picked him up, we met with Elana and she walked us through how to continue the training. Joe (one of the trainers) also showed us all the things Charlie learned. We were REALLY impressed! Charlie really loved Joe and now our baby is much more relaxed and is much less aggressive with others. I have had three dogs "graduate" from Morgan's Dogs. All have been impeccably well behaved, calm, and obedient. Since I bring my dogs to work downtown and have clients come and go, it has been extremely important that they don't jump up, bark, eat unauthorized foods or create scenes. Morgan's offers a combination of charm school and boot camp which corrects and instills good behavior without lessening the dog's essential spirit. People continually have been amazed at my dog's model behavior. It took only two weeks dropping the dogs off and through the training technique of Elana and her associates, my dogs became wonderful family members for life.
