Recently discovered this park and it's great! Lots to do here. Open spaces for sports and picnics, hiking and biking trails, dog park, volleyball nets, small playground. There's also baseball fields, tennis courts, swimming pools, velodrome, horseshoes, bocce ball, and archery, oh and a extreme frisbee course, although those may not all be free to use. Anyways today we grilled some kabobs with my mini grill I got for Christmas. This multi-use park/complex is amazing. 10/10. read more

A great place to go and go hike, practice archery, participate in organized sports like baseball or soccer, or just walk your dog! The place is a large complex with several baseball diamonds, tennis courts, a public pool, and a dog park! We discovered this place when our TKD school used the Location to teach outside. This is an extensive sports complex in the northeast section of Balboa Park, east of Park Blvd.  There are facilities for baseball and softball, bocce, tennis, track and field, basketball, cycling, tennis, archery, swimming ... and golf.  Actually, there are three public golf courses: an 18-hole golf course, 9-hole executive course, and a disc golf course.  My first introduction to Morley Field was when my brother-in-law challenged me to a round of "Frisbee golf" here over 30 years ago.  Other than a few rounds of golf on the Balboa Park Golf course -- and some more Frisbee golf -- I've rarely used the Morley Field Complex. read more

Another year and another amazing set of experiences with Morley Field. The staff is amazing (Angel is truly exceptional) and the course is world class. From the variety of shot shapes for advanced golfers, to the welcoming environment for newbies ... definitely check this course out. For $6, what better way to spend your money on recreation, exercise, and fun?!? They have rental discs available if you need to borrow a few, and some of the staff will even provide some basic instruction (if you ask). Just be sure to review disc golf etiquette before hitting the course if you're a new player - this venue can get pretty busy; there's a bunch of ways we can contribute to keeping a good pace of play for everyone out there. read more

What a nice open space to do a long walk either by yourself or with your dog. It's fun as I saw a lot of people out here exercising and doing picnic gathering with families, also I spotted a cool Tesla Cyber Truck, it's rare to see one out on the road, and it just strolling around this part of town. This is the weirdest place ever but I'm obsessed with my visit here and I can't wait to come back even though it's totally a place where you could be murdered and your body would never be found. The "trail" is positively post apocalyptic. I was obsessed with it. Check it out in the photos although I don't think photos do it justice. Planes fly overhead and there's an apartment complex at the end of it that looks like it could be in Russia. I'm qualified to say that because I've been to Russia. There's like an abandoned nursery and tons of random city equipment/vehicles on the trail. There was a sign that said the trail was 0.75miles and it was totally wrong because my watch said 1.5 miles and I wasn't even at the end by the time I turned around. I saw another woman out there with her dog and she was super nice, then I saw her again by the tennis court complex and she mentioned that she lost her phone. Don't lose your phone here. It's doubtful that you'll ever get it back, but I really hope she found it. There's also a huge pool here and it's the home of San Diego Archery. I'll probably sign up for archery just so that I have an excuse to come back here and hopefully not get murdered. Also the "dog park" sucks and has no fencing. Don't take your shiba inu off leash here because you'll probably never see it again. Don't drop your phone either. read more

Awesome park but god oh God the bathroom was horrendous! It was probably the worst bathroom I've seen in history, even worst then a portable potty... I heard the men's bathroom was 100x worst then the women's... How can that be? Imagine someone defecating not on the toilet like its purpose but right next to it. SOOOO DISGUSTING!! Ok ok enough bathroom talk, the sports field and grassy area is pretty cool. Nice and green and trees for shade. Plenty of space for big gatherings and picnics. Plenty of street parking and parking space. The field looks like it was kept up. Too bad they don't keep up the bathroom. We saw the worker went in the bathroom with toilet paper and went straight back out... Toilet paper is not what it needs... It needs a good ole scrubbing and maybe not have it a homeless personal bathroom. Avoid the bathroom as much as you can. Pee in the bushes, it'll be cleaner. read more

Many moons ago in high school this is where I ran cross country. They held the Foot Locker National High School Cross Country Meet here (not sure if they still do). Theres a fast 3.1 mile course here, which I still remember all the physical pain I endured, along with dodging the occassional dog poop (owners please pick up after Fido). Not quite sure if they still hold the local high school cross country meets here but I wouldn't be surprised if they still did. read more

Best park that i've been too in san diego. I wish I grew up in the neighborhood adjacent to this park. I would have been in monster shape. This park as it all! I've spent most of my time at the dog park allowing the beagle have some fun. Before this i've checked out the pool once which was heated. Ok? Last night Me and the loves were trying to debate whether to do the exercise path (various apparatus spread across this big park) or try the beginner trail for a nice 2.3 mi run! We choose the latter and boy were we not dissappointed. This run showed us other sides of the park that we weren't aware of. An archery field? Bike tracK? frisbee golf? Ok? This park has it all! read more

We came here for a baby shower on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty nice. The fields ares till fairly green and it wasn't trashy like Mission Beach. The only complaint I would have are the bathrooms. They were absolutely filthy. It was amazing how dirty a public restroom could be. *Ghetto bathrooms. read more

This is my favorite place to unwind. I come here for my evening walks with my friends, once a week I do boot camp in the am and sometimes I come watch my students when they invite me to their soccer games. It is well taken care of. I love the velodrome!!! Well I like watching the races. It's just so cool. This place has everything, pool, tennis courts, stairs for a great workout, soccer and baseball fields, lots of parking, clean restrooms, a play area for the kiddies, and a dog park!!!! read more

Nice family friendly spot for Sunday Funday. ;) came here to watch a team play softball and enjoyed the park with the dogs. There's no shortage of things for everyone here! Although we didn't explore everything ...we saw: A pool. Ball fields. Tennis courts. A playground and lots of green space. There was a kickball game going on, a rugby game going on and lots of family BBQs. There's also a dog park there that I went to ages ago and it's pretty good too. For my 100th review I picked one of my favorite locations in San Diego. My memories of Morley Field started in high school when we would venture down from North County for Cross Country meets. Morley is a great place for cross country running. Not only does San Diego hold their section CIF finals here, but Footlocker has been having the High School National Championships here for decades. The BEST High School CC runners from all over the country fly in to race at Morley Field! Now that I live close to the park I run here a few times a week. I love the variety of options you have a runner. You can run trails, on grass, up hills, or keep a relatively flat route of you aren't feeling the hills one day. If you aren't a runner you'll still enjoy yourself here. You can picnic and take in the sights. There is always something interesting to see, baseball games, velodrome riders/races, dogs going crazy in the dog park, people playing frisbee and or frisbee golf, catch, futbol, water polo. Plain and simple: Morley Field rocks. Hip, hip- Hooray! read more

Ah, how I loved this place when I started running again. I ran the canyons, up and down, and through the various fields. The grass is well-maintained, the sporting fields are in good order, there's a velodrome for bikers, tennis courts, and a fitness course you can do with various calisthenics on offer. Bud Kearns Memorial Pool is here, but it's never not full of old people and teams that destroy the free swim hours at will, so don't bother. Minus one star! There is an archery range, shuffleboard and a fishing casting practice area. Bocce? Yep. Italian bowling is here. Grey folks abound! Some families, too. Frisbee golf is attached but not part of the park, really, and it is reviewed elsewhere. Check it out and enjoy, but it's not the top of the park line, by any means. Still, the grass is green and soft. Bring a sweetie to suck face with and enjoy a view of the Coronado Islands past the Coronado bridge, a beautiful hidden feature of this wonderful place. read more

I only go to the tennis complex but will explore other parts of the park soon. This is the grand daddy of all the tennis facilities in San Diego and one of the best in the country. There are a ton of regulars here that play and you can get a game anytime you want by signing up for the challenge court. I think it takes time for the regulars to warm up to you but that is true for all of San Diego. People in San Diego are usually a little aloof until they get to know you. Once you are in the pack and accepted you are golden but it takes time. This place is a great deal at 5 bucks for an entire day of tennis and the memberships are reasonable also. read more

I love this complex area. I actually never inside but use the grounds surrounding it for walks and jogs. There is always plenty of parking and the park is well maintained. There are several tennis courts, baseball fields, lap pool, archery and much more. If go through the eastern part before the archery area you can enter a trail that connects to other trails along the road. The place is busy and its great to see everyone keeping active, it motivates you to do more. The only thing I dont really enjoy all the bicyclist on the trails and on the walkways, there are quite a few careless hipsters. read more

Morley Field is practically in my backyard, so I wander over to this (free) destination pretty often. There's really no better (free) place in town to work out. This (free) corner of Balboa Park is absolutely beautiful. All the eucalyptus trees are beautifully maintained, and there are (free) hidden views of downtown SD everywhere around you. It's separated from the bigger, more touristy part of Balboa Park by Florida Canyon, so it's 100% locals here. My favorite (free) thing to do here is run the (free) par course. I think the (free) trail is a little over 3 miles, with dozens of (free) workout stations. All of these (free) workout stations are perfectly maintained. You'd think they would go into disrepair, but the community keeps them in top-top shape. All the (free) running paths are well marked and well-lit and safe, even at night. Okay, so maybe you're not into all of Morley Field's amazing (free) exercise facilities. How about simply having a (free) picnic on one of the the many beautiful (free) grassy knolls? Bring as much stuff as you like, since there's there's a huge (free) parking lot. Even on the rare occasion that the (free) parking lot is full, there's plenty of (free) street parking along Upas and the surrounding neighborhood. As you can tell, I totally dig Morley Field. I wanted to add to Francis's comment about the "free swim". Definately not free! It's $5 per adult, 1.50 for children. We went here the past 2 days- very refreshing, hte lifeguards are nice, but kinda nazi-esque when it comes to enforcing their many rules. read more

Great places for a barbie with friends! Just remember the 5-0's say no glass, no smoking. My recommendation, spiked lemonade :) Otherwise, one of my favorite places to get people together whether it's for "kickball practice" or just a reason to get together for delish eats and drinks and any sport of choice!!! :) read more

For 5 years Morley field was my front yard and I couldn't be happier. Truely a gem of dan diego. A runners dream with miles of beautiful trails with various old school exercise stations scattered throughout the park. If you ride mountain bikes, try one of the trails along florida street. If you're into fixed gear track riding, there's a freaking velodrone there! Tuesdays nights is when the hipsters meet to ride, smoke weed and drink pbr. The bub kerns memorial pool is an olympic size pool right in the middle of the park which is kept at a steamy +80 degrees!! Beware it can be tough finding a lane for lap swimming do to water polo practice or various other groups using the pool. There's a proper tennis club with many courts, a frisbee golf course which is pure awesomeness, and even archery targets! I mean the activities are endless here! Bocce courts to the east, baseball fields to the south, kids jungle gyms, hand ball, a dog park, the list goes on and on. I enjoy just tossing a frisbee around with friends or hula hoopjng. If i could i would give this place 6 stars!!! read more

Such a lovely park to run , walk , bike ect. You can get a really good workout here. I've been taking my kid here since she was days old and now she's six. Last year she learned how to ride her bike here since it's so open. The pool here is great too, the instructors for the youth swim classes are awesome let me tell you. It's cheap and they really do seem like they love what they do, so really looking forward to that come summer. This park is really so so beautiful and a great place to make some awesome memories. :) read more
