We took our girls here and was a bit disappointed overall. It's a small playground at the end of the street with a big fence separating the freeway below. Large chunks of the rubbery floor were missing. Leaves, needles and sticks were everywhere and plenty of moisture got built up on the structure so luckily we had a towel to wipe some of it off the slides. There's a path where we saw lots of dog owners and dogs walking and they used the trash can at the playground to drop off the dogs poop, so there was a pervasive feces smell at the playground. While the structure was appropriate for the 2-5 year age group, it didn't feel safe or sanitary given that kids could run into the street or accidentally step in or put dog poop in their mouths. read more

Tweet Street Park is located Downtown San Diego in Cortez Hill on 9th and Date right off the 163 freeway. It's a lovely small community park for children ages 2-5. I have been coming to this park for years since its very peaceful and great for younger kids to get out and play without always trying to find your kids in larger parks and always hovering over them making sure there safe. It offers street parking around all the condos and has 7 chairs to sit at under shade provided by the trees. There is a small trail to walk on with bicycle parking as well. The children park has 2 swings for toddler's and slides. It offers 3 bouncy springers along with ABC's and a planet universe chart for kids to learn and play at the same time. Tweet Street Park is great for smaller younger kids without always worrying about your kids safety since there always insight. It's always great to come out here in this beautiful San Diego weather and watch your kids get active and play. read more

Secret gem in uptown San Diego. Hidden urban park along the freeway. Very cute neighborhood.

So happy to have stumbled upon this little playground. It's the perfect size and has the perfect amount of things to do for my 2 year old without larger kids trampling him or large crowds at the more popular urban parks. They have swings, slides, bouncy fun animals on springs, hands-on stand up games like tic tac toe and a little space mission rocket. It's such a nice and quiet place for 2-5 year olds to have some fun. I do think the playground itself needs a little cleaning TLC but other than that it's a great little park. I plan to frequent this park while my toddler is still little. read more

Cute little park that Camilla seemed to enjoy. I didn't see any doggies around but will continue to walk through in the hopes of a puppy sighting! Tweet Street Park (not just the playground, but the park that wraps around down to 10th and Cedar), is a big reason I moved to Cortez Hill. It's so nice to be able to take my dog for a walk (night or day!) on the safe streets of this park, and let her sniff around and play. Over the few years I've lived here they've made some really nice improvements, the latest being some new planters, and certain areas with new plants and different kids of dirt and gravel. Even with all the dogs doing their business all the time, it's kept up really nicely! read more

This park opened March this year-- located in Cortez Hill (downtown), in front of ALOFT ; loft homes. It's not your average park... a whimsey green landscaped buffer park tucked away from the rest of the city, which makes it nice if you want some quiet time. Park is clean & dog friendly.. I didn't notice any bathrooms for us humans.. but there are doggy bag stations throughout the park, so please dog lovers, pick up after your pooch! Lets keep this park clean! Tweet Street Park is more than just a park. If you start walking on 7th ave and follow the path, you see the artwork of various birdhouses. As you continue to walk up Date Street you can find chairs that are ideal for sitting and reading. What I like most about the area are the trees. The trees have their own identity but give the park character and provide much needed shade. As you come up on Date and 8th ave there is a small, colorful park for kids between 2-5yrs old. For a neighborhood park in downtown SD, Tweet Street Park is great for taking a stroll or walking the dog. They have plenty of areas for the dog to do it things and poop bag stations everywhere. The playground is awesome for kids. The city does a good job of maintaining the area and keeping it safe. read more

Great park for toddlers. It has swings, slides, rock climbing, tic tax toe, and other learning structures to keep the kids busy. The turf is soft too in case the kids were to fall. I like how the planes fly right by it so the kids can see them in the sky! Lots of chairs and parking and it's pretty clean too! People pass by walking their pets and there's a station that allows those patrons to clean up after their pets. This is a great place. We will be back! read more

Hiking up to Cortez Hill is a bit of a trek, but getting to see downtown's new park is worth it. The park is a linear park and is on Date between 8th & 9th. There are little bird houses all over the place that are eccentric and very cool. There is a small children's play area and the cutest doggy bathroom with colored fire hydrants. There is a pretty view of balboa park and an interesting perspective on the freeway. If you are interested in getting off the beaten path.. try tweet street! read more

We moved to Downtown San Diego a few weeks ago, I love Downtown but finding places for the kids to play is a challenge. This park was recommended by one of my neighbors and what I love is that is walking distance from my house. The park is small but good enough for my young kids to play. You can also have a nice picknick with your kids, and don't worried about transients I have not seen any. This place is good for kids ages 2 to 5 years old, as one of their signs say. I also love how clean it is and the planes when they pass by. P.S. The park is up hill going north on 9th ave, so make sure you are ready for some cardio work out. read more

I live across the street and I walk my pup through the park many times each day. It is a great little linear park for the neighborhood. You can add it to your dog's walking route or bring your kids for the kid friendly playground features. There is not there to keep your attention for very long. It's not a destination if you're visiting - go to Balboa. It's the parks fault, it's just not large, like Balboa park. No sports, etc. It is located at the north east corner of 9th and Date and is bound by the 5 and a steep fenced hill. So I often meet lost tourists on a bike ride asking me for directions. The landscape architects did a great job shoehorning it between the 5 and the street. There are custom birdhouses throughout which attract local birds of all kinds. Hence the name - tweet street park. It's the little gem of Cortez Hill. Enjoy but remember.... always pick up after your pets. Always! read more

Meh. I've experienced better. (No, really. If you have a car and a dog, you really don't need to make this a destination park. It's a sidewalk with some fire-hydrants and poop bags, with a small kid playground at the end.) This is only really acceptable if you live right in the neighborhood. It's not really a dog park. But it is adequate if your dog is Cat-sized (a.k.a the ever popular/ridiculous California Kick Me Dog). read more

I couldn't say enough good things about this place. It's too bad there aren't more than 13 reviews on here. The park is very small, but if you have a little one ages 2-5, it's all you need!!! There's even a table for kids to enjoy a snack or lunch at, and the chairs are all positioned perfectly for parents to keep a close eye on the children. Please check it out before it gets dark out, because the area could get a bit eerie after that! read more

Pros: cute, clean and convenient for people that live downtown. Cons: small, too close to the street ( I had to chase my son a few times because he got too close to the street.) and boring I'm new to the San Diego area and am on the search for the best park to take my kids. I wanted to see for myself what the park was like and the reviews I read were right. Don't go out of you way to come here. It's nothing special. The photo I posted is basically the whole park. Nice and convenient for the local neighbors but not worth driving too. My kids were board real fast and started making their way to the street several times. read more

There's a play structure with a 3 slides. There are 2 swings but only for babies/toddlers. Perfect for Cortez Hill neighborhood dogs or children. When living in downtown SD it's hard to find a place to allow a dog or child to take a break from urban living. The Tweet Street park provides this escape. Yes it's not "perfect", but its walking distance and amenities make it great for Cortez Hill dwellers. I've been there in the mornings, afternoons and evenings (photos provided of the evening) feeling safe and without any issues. I'm grateful the city of San Diego has provided this park for its citizens. read more

This is a cute mini park that is in the heart of Cortez Hill, it gives the neighborhood an urban feeling and lends a much appreciated injection of green space that is closer than that of balboa park which is also less than a mile away. It is also a great destination for dog walkers. read more

The only downside to this park is that it's a little small other than that it's fantastic. Its right near downtown so it's easy to walk to it. There's also a lot of trees unlike some other parks in San Diego. Oh and reminder, please pick up after your dog sometimes people forget.... read more

I stumbled across this park by accident while taking my dog on a run. The sign caught my eye and I had to investigate. It's cute, if you've got kids and your dog needs to go... but it's not not worthy to any extent. It's located around a lot of the nicer small apartments, but I'd advice Balboa first if you're looking for a serene getaway. And dogie bags can be found all over san diego, (especially in this neighborhood,) so it's nothing unique to see them here. read more
