It actually hurts me a lot to write this review, considering this store has been part of my childhood and has been around for decades until now. I have fond memories of back when my grandpa was able to drive and he'd take me here to buy me stationery and cuter school supplies before the start of school and would tell me to study hard or when I scourged up what little pocket change I had going through K-12 to purchase cute lead pencils and the like. Even as an adult, I would still go in here to see what cute wares they had. When Sanrio closed, this was the final bastion of kawaii goods, especially stationery. Pencil cases, pens, various different pencils, notebooks, greetings cards, plushies, erasers, planners, and much more. Blue Bear, Babu, Lovely White, and much more. This was the true nostalgia core y2k aesthetic. I loved the notebooks that were in that "greenish" tone to make it easier to study on the eyes and the random ones with random English phrases and a photo of scenery or daily life. It was even recently that Katy Perry did some photos here. These shops are a relic of the past and a world that no longer exists for us. Things were a bit pricy but it's nothing compared to the scalping and price gouging for cute core goods. There's still a couple of these left in SoCal, but now I'm sad that this one is gone. read more

Either my road to emasculation has completed or I'm accompanying young children. Or maybe a bit of both. Lol. In any case, I stepped into Morning Glory at the Puente Hills mall which was actually a welcome respite after enduring the drudgery of the Ross Dress store across the aisle. The walls are lined from bottom to top with product. The store just seemed so well organized full of cutesy stuff if you are into that. There was a shelf dedicated to Gunds where I heard squeals of "so cute!" when I was shown a pair of Pusheen slippers for the whopping price of $30. We so happen to pick up a pair of cat shaped slippers from Daiso for only $5, but not remotely close to the quality of these furry Gund slippers. We also stopped to admire the shelves dedicated to BTS and other K-pop bands with photo book, stationary, and other memorabilia. TBH, we left without buying anything but it was an impressive niche store. read more

This was such a bizarre experience. I was really excited when I found out that there was a Morning Glory in California, as I used to frequent their stores on the East Coast growing up. Blue Bear and Babu merchandise was littered across the window display of the store, deceiving me into thinking that I was going to have a rush of childhood memories revived here. First of all, all of the Rilakkuma items are fake. Not a single one is authentic. In fact, there was even a fake Rilakkuma item sold in a Hello Kitty package. What astounds me is the audacity this store had to sell so many fake items within the same mall that has an arcade that offers Rilakkuma items as prizes! I also have never seen so many fake items being sold in an American mall. I've definitely seen many fake items being sold in Asian stores and Asian malls in Chinatown, but to sell them here is a bold move. I can't believe they haven't been reported yet for selling counterfeit merchandise. After my disappointment of browsing the fake Rilakkuma section (all being sold at full price, mind you), I thought that I would find refuge in the signature Morning Glory characters, Blue Bear and Babu. For some reason, all of the plushes they had on display had two different price tags on them! (Perhaps if they liked you, they would give you the lower price?) My boyfriend and I found other counterfeit items littered throughout the store, including Dragon Ball Z. Moreover, the only two employees working here were just chatting away in Korean, ignoring their customers. So, to recap, counterfeit merchandise, double pricing, and inattentive sales representatives DO NOT make for a successful business. Morning Glory, Blue Bear, Babu -- what happened to you? Always cute inventory ever since I was a kid and used to write letters BY HAND. Ha. Forgotten arts. Salesperson was sweet and cheerful and wrapped my pen purchase in the cutest little bag. That's that quality service righ'chere! Previous reviews comment on rude service, looks like they hired a keeper at least for the Sunday night shift. DO NOT SHOP HERE! The Korean woman who is the owner here overcharges items that are CLEARLY priced less!!! I had gone there a few days ago with my 8 year old. She found a pencil case, and the young guy working there told her it was $1.99. We ended up buying 4 more pencils and 2 small containers of lead for mechanical pencils. When we went to pay, the guy was gone and the Korean Woman/Owner was there. She was SO rude!!! When she started to ring up the pencil box, she was looking on the packaging for a price. I told her the young man told her it was $1.99. She actually snickered at me and said '"NO- there's no way it's 1.99" in disgust! She made me feel like I was making it up, trying to get a cheap price!!! Then, she thought for a second, and then said 'It's $10.00". She rang up $10.00 and I told her NO, I didn't want it anymore. She said 'FINE'; took it off in a huff, and started grabbing the other pencils and ringing them up really fast. But then, I noticed her ringing up pencils that were in the $1.00 box as being $2.00 & $3.00. When I told her, she said that I found them in the wrong place... I wanted to walk out, but my daughter reminded me that I PROMISED to get her some new pencils and lead, so I ended up buying the lead and 2 pencils. The next day, I discovered that there is a Morning Glory @ the Montebello Town Center! To my huge surprise, I found out that not only did she overcharge me for lead ($1 instead of 60 cents), the pencils I had said were $1 (not $2 and $3) WERE really $1 and that Pencil Box she said was $10 was really $8!!! I think it's disgusting that a middle aged woman would overcharge little girls- the next time your daughter's want to go shopping, take them to Montebello or another Morning Glory- not only will the selection be better, you won't be worried that someone's overcharging you!!! read more

I LOVE kawaii plushies and stationary and stuff but this store disappoints me. Every time I walk in the cashier keeps her eyes on me and I feel like I'm about to be tackled any second! They over price many items that you can buy for way less at a typical toy store. The one thing that makes me angry is the fact that they sell fake Rilakkuma plushies for a ridiculous price. A lot of the products in this store are knock-offs from Korea and if you're looking for authentic pieces then this might not be the best place. Probably just buying a pencil will be worth your money. read more

Wow now this store is a bit overpriced compared to the montebello location. Though the pricing on several items seems a bit off, on the otherhand thus place has k - pop items. I've seen several bromide magazines out on a stand, but they're older issues. Also they sell the standard kpop postcards like exo and pillows too along with stationary items also. I dont recommend you to buy the kpop items because they're highly overpriced. The atmosphere was quite pleasing, but since I live closer to the montebello location and this place has similar items there just more expensive, I wouldn't personally come unless I'm visiting a friend in the area. It's nice to know that the staff is very welcoming though. read more

Before morning glory moved to a different location inside the mall everything was cheap. Lead Pencils for $1 or $2 which were made from Korea. Now, it is just over priced. Now the lead pencils are $5 and above not to mention made in China. They may have cool things but you can pretty much find it cheaper at other places. P.S. If you are a KPOP fan don't get the the postcards they are a rip off. Well check at least before you purchase because the pictures can be pixelated not the best of quality. read more

Score! Went to go buy a diary (don't judge!) and it was priced $12, but when the cashier went to ring it up, $7! Haha victory! Anyway, its fun walking through here and reading the random diaries, notebooks, photo albums etc. with the cheesy, so in love, quotes that sometimes don't even make sense, but you understand what they were going for. :p Lots of cute stuff that costs more than it should and you probably don't need, but will eventually splurge on. read more

I had no problem coming here. The pencils were $1-$2 and super cute and work great! (I advise not getting the thin mechanical pencils because they break, but the thicker ones are FANTASTIC) I got a pencil case from here and it broke within a month however this was not the store fault. My little sister got a similar design but a little more expensive and the quality was a lot better. So make sure you know what you are buying. Otherwise great experience and I enjoy going and visiting often :3 read more

This is a really cool place. Not only because they stock a bunch of adorable things to choose from, but because they're affordable to boot! I picked up a lot of pens and pencils here. Three dollars for a cute mechanical pencil compared to twelve at the Kinokuniya up north? Who can pass up something like that? There's also a bunch of other cute little things like cups, backpacks, lucky star origami packs, plush toys, and planners! Definitely swing by here if you're into cute things. read more

one of the bigger morning glory's that i've seen, so i was interested in seeing what's in store (hahh). not too long after entering the store, did i want out. i was being FOLLOWED by a store employee. i have a rule where if i'm being followed, i'm not going to spend $$ in a store that'll have its employees follow me around (and nonchalant at that). but since i didn't even walk through the half the store, i gave the over-obvious employee a chance. big mistake. they followed me to the other side of the store as well. he didn't even ask me if i needed any help. if they're so worried about shop lifting, they need security cameras & some security mirrors. not unwelcoming store employees. otherwise they have some cute stuff. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!! The workers and owners are so rude and annoying. I've gone there a few times hoping that the customer service will improve, but it doesn't. Whenever I have bought something the lady at the register charges a different price then what is listed on display. And I recently found an item on the sale table and was told by one worker that it was $1.99, then when the same lady came to ring me up she was going to charge me $10.00. It really bothers me to think that if she does this to me I can only imagine how much she overcharges he little children that come in wanting to buy something with their hard earned allowance. read more

Wow. Surprised by some of the other reviews. Had a great experience. I didn't think the size was as big as other reviewers, but very happy with selection. My item was clearly priced, and correctly charged. Nobody followed me around. The one I grabbed off the shelf was a bit "handled", but before I even got to the register, they had already gone in the back to get me a fresh one still in the bag! I never asked, they just served. The new one had no price tag, and they still got the correct price. 3 days before Xmas, on a Saturday, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes!!!!! After purchase they OFFERED, FREE OF CHARGE gift wrapping on my $28 item! It took less than 3 minutes. Anywhere else this close to Xmas would be a $15 charge and a 2 hour wait. But it was FREE and lightning fast! No attitudes from employees. Item in original bag, in gift wrap, and still put in a 3rd bag for carrying so wrapping didn't get damaged. Even if item was overpriced (which I don't think it was), the customer service, checkout speed, selection, free gift wrap ALL cover the extra money. If you have a hard time finding the storefront, it's just outside Burlington on the inside of the mall. read more
