Lamb Tajne
Haruki M.

Moroccan cuisine sounds very exotic. It's not a dish we have every day. So my friends who have never had before were wondering what sort of foods they will serve. Too spicy? Not really. Most dishes we had were mild and even the spicy fish was manageable. Tasty? The most important question is easily said yes. The homemade focaccia with dips were simply delicious. (I loved the eggplant dip the most) We had three types of tajine for the main. All were great and my favourite was the lamb tajine. Very tender lamb with a flavour of spices and fruits. Come back again? Big yes to this. Actually this is my second time to come here. I will be back again for their Beautiful Moroccan foods and friendly service.

Seriously tasty lamb tagine, spicy Merguez sausages with coriander beetroot salad
Amy V.

I've driven and walked past this restaurant many times as there's a few places that seemed to be long stayers but never actually eaten at any of them. Decided to take the gamble with my cousin and boy was I glad I did! The signature dish of lamb tagine was mouth-watering (my order!) . Slow booked lamb which just melted away on the bone. She ordered the other chef recommendation of spicy sausages which were also nice but the lamb was definitely a star. I could see other tables also ordering exactly the same thing. To combat the meat, we ordered the coriander and beetroot salad which cut through nicely. Both the mains came with couscous. We couldn't actually finish the meal even though the sizes didn't seem overly large ...maybe cos we were two girls?? I'll definitely be back to try some of the other tagines. The service on the other hand was hit and miss. There were only 2 staff running around and the restaurant wasn't even full but I could see they were struggling. The girl was much more friendlier than the guy who was quite dismissive. Trying to wave one of them to order was interesting as you couldn't really get their attention easily as they were too busy. Finally we managed to get the guy come around to us. The menu was a little confusing as it listed 4 salads for $18 which seemed a little strange to me as I definitely didn't want to order 4 salads. I asked the guy which one he would recommend and he suggested the coriander and beetroot which we ended up going with but then I asked him about the rest thinking we had to order 4 salads...anyway his response was "It's up to you, how do I know which salad you'd like, you would know more than me what you'd like". Truly strange response plus he didn't have a positive demeanour. The girl was smiling a lot more when she was wandering around. Anyway, food awesome, service is questionable.....but tolerable.

Fine dining with fantastic panoramic views over Bondi and towards the city. The main cuisine of choice for this joint is large slabs of meat. Steak is there speciality but they offer a range of other options such as Vegetarian plates, Burgers, Ribs and Sea food too. I have been here a few times and I usually tend to go here when I want a hit of protein in the form of man size steak. On this occasion I was dining with some work colleagues and we decided we would order a few different options in order to get the best of all worlds. We decided to order the Salmon with a baked potato, Sirloin Steak 350gm with steamed Vegetables and the Seafood platter. Like a good team we had every base covered. Before our dinners came out we were provided with Kelly's famous complimentary bread. The bread is really sweet and melts in your mouth and excellent to get you excited for the mains. The salmon was grilled to perfection and the staff even asked how we wanted it cooked. I only recently found out some people like salmon raw on the inside ( still unsure why ! Go for sushi if you want raw fish ). It was beautiful and really fresh. The sirloin was very tender and juicy. The Steaks always come with deep fried onions on the side and the steamed vegetables were just steamed enough and still hard in a good way. The seafood platter was the stand out dish very surprisingly considering that Kelly's isn't known specifically for seafood. The platter was packed with calamari, mussels, John Dory, prawns and all upon a bed of fried rice. The fish was so good it tasted as if it was probably happy swimming in the deep blue sea that morning before making its way onto our plates. The service in this place was very good and the wait staff were easy to be got when ever we needed assistance.

Perfect for a pre-dinner movie as it's located right underneath the cinemas, and can time your meals to when your movie is starting. For vegetarians, don't get your hopes up, and I've been told to avoid the Veg platter, just stick to the salads for your meal. But if you needed some encouragement to break from your veg ways, then Kelly's is a great place to celebrate a new meat lifestyle :)

Would have given 5 stars (well deserved for the food) - but the service was well below average (unfriendly) so it is a 4. We tried 3 pasta dishes (from 22 to 26$) : risotto with sage, pumpkin and buffala mozzarella, pasta a la vongole and I had cappelletti (pasta filled with cheese) Ai porcini. All 3 were delicious - very authentic as what you would get in Italy. The servings could be a little bigger (cappelletti in particular). At least it gave us the opportunity to try the desserts :-) Nutella tart was the special...and a winner. It was rich so good to be shared but the homemade crust was very well done and the filling has a great strong Nutella taste. I also liked the vibe - nothing fancy, simple busy local restaurant. A refreshing change from all the restaurants in the city, Surry hills etc... I must say :-)

And the fact that the majority of their ratings are 5/5 on TripAdvisor speaks for itself ;) Everything from the service to the ambiance to the food is an A+. All the staff are Italian and they will help you with food/wine recommendations. The pastas are freshly handmade, the wine is beautiful and the prices are very fair. I walked by this restaurant weekly noticing it was always packed yet I had never heard the name before so I finally looked it up on the internet and saw fantastic reviews. It is definitely a local's spot as it is situated in Bondi Junction and most Sydney folks probably haven't heard of it. Everything I have had here is wonderful! Just to list a few - Asparagi in Camicia $13.5 (fresh steamed asparagus wraped in Fontina cheese, Prosciutto & crumbed) -Carpaccio di Manzo $14.5 (Beef carpaccio) -Tagliata di Manzo a peso $11 per 100 g (beef sirloin steak) -ALLLL of their pastas No better way to finish off a great Italian meal with affagato! Do yourself a favour and dine here - you won't be disappointed. Feels like Italy! Note: All 5 photos were taken from the restaurant's fb page - I did not take them.
