I have visited the Morocco Shrine Temple on two occasions. The first occasion was a few years back for the Greek Festival and my last trip was for the Jax Illumination Christmas light show. I fell in love on my first visit when I attended the Greek festival with a friend. There was so much wonderful food, desserts and handmade arts and crafts. If you are a Jacksonville native and you have not attended the Greek Festival shame on you LOL! This year I attended Jax illumination for the first time. I purchased my online ticket for $20 (fee per car). I arrived at 5:45 PM with an entrance time of 6 PM. I suggest arriving early as there were already three rows of cars ahead of me. I was pleasantly surprised as I originally felt $20 with a bit steep to drive through a Christmas light show. But the show took roughly 20 minutes to complete. And I thoroughly enjoyed everything as you can see from my pics;) I would suggest trying the fried Oreos if the vendor is there next year. So good! They are in the parking lot for purchase after you exit the light show. read more

Great place to come for Christmas lights with the family. Growing every year, it's definitely getting better and better. Tune into 98.5 FM for Christmas music synchronized with the lights. Stay in the car though! Just ease through for a relaxing night. Watch out for the car in front of you. Everyone is welcome to take pictures and video. The staff are friendly and helpful with directions if you need it. A few lights are out, but the guys are here working on them. It's not Callaway Gardens big, but an enjoyable drive nonetheless. This is our 3rd year and we will be back next year! Merry Christmas! read more

I forgot how much I like coming to events at the Morocco Shrine Center. There is plenty of parking for vendors and visitors whenever I go. Never a hassle. This last trip here was to attend the Jacksonville Gem & Mineral show. The location has ample room for artist and sellers to set up shop with enough wiggle room for attendees to browse and buy. Overall, the interior is still somewhat dated compared to other venue options in Jacksonville, but this place always takes me back and the shows and events I attend here are well organized. It's a manageable spot to have an event with that old school feel. I like it. read more

What a huge place to have an event. There is plenty of parking space around the acreage. I attend several events here yearly.

Love the Morocco shrine and all the Shriners. They put on the shrine circus and my family and I go everywhere year. They also host other events such as gun shows, reptile and coin exhibits. All different types of events. Danny the hippy is always around helping set up and designate directions for vendors and guest. Every year James puts up a drive through Christmas light show. read more

The Shrine Center is a really good place for venues. I have never had difficulty finding parking here, and the lot is lighted which has been greatly appreciated when attending events during the evening. This is an older building and I have noticed that the carpet or maybe the ventilation system does sometimes smell a bit dank toward the front of the main floor area. But really, who cares? The bathrooms are always clean and the events here are usually so interesting, (computer shows, jewelry shows, gun shows, etc.) that I am sure most wouldn't even notice. This huge Center has given the Jacksonville not only the opportunity to enjoy some fun large scale events at nominal entry fees, but of course is also backed by the wonderfully community oriented Shriner's. I have only been to the Morocco Shrine once and that was for the regional science fair a few weeks ago. My niece won first place at her school fair for her experiment in bottle rockets and moved onto the regional fair. They held the science fair over three days. Sunday was set up, Monday was the fair itself, and Tuesday night was the awards ceremony. I've only been as far in as that first auditorium, so can't make mention of the rest of the building. For something like the science fair, I thought the place was a great venue. Lots of room for parents and kids to sit without being too crowded, and much better than a standard auditorium. You would be worried in a place like this that it would be too hot. I, actually, was more than a bit chilly. The parking lot is huge and can accommodate a large number of people. You may have a bit of a walk from some of the farther spaces, but who doesn't need a bit of exercise? read more

Worst place ever to see a concert. Plus they charge $15 to park in their crappy lot!Then when (and if) you get inside - the bar only takes cash!!! So you have to wait another 15 minutes in line to get $$. The bartenders were nice. That's the only positive. Oh/ ATM CHARGED US $5.00 Did I mention $15 to park in nowhere?? Not nice!! Bad business. Oh- and the concert line up was wrong according to the website and phone calls. They started early while we were still outside in line and missed our favorite band :-( read more

My family and I went to the circus that they have at the Morocco Shrine last night . Upon arrival there was someone collecting $5 for parking, which they have never done in previous years. We paid our money and watched the show. The next morning I was cleaning out my purse and found our ticket stubs which clearly state "FREE PARKING ". I am feeling really taken at this moment . Yes , it was only $5 but their ticket clearly states otherwise ! I will not be supporting this shady organization in the future ! I wish I would have looked at our tickets beforehand . read more

I love the Bead shows ~! So many beautiful selections, it is easy to spend $100.00, or more. they have a dazzeling array. !! I have made many earrings, necklaces, to my own styles with these beads. The only thing is now I do not have a car, and no city bus goes in this direction, so unless I want to pay for a taxi, I am stumped. I like to go alone and not to ask anyone to take me there. Reference ThrowBack Fest sound checks beginning at 7am on a Saturday: Thanks for waking up our entire complex with a sound check at 7:00 am for an event that begins at 6pm. At 7:30am, We (and especially the ones with kids) enjoyed running outside when they turn up their "jam" all the way, after being jerked from our sleep to see who could possible lack basic human kindness and care for the surrounding community. Come on people, get it together and know your market. People live around your complex and you just ticked us all off. I'm an event planner, I've coordinated a number of large scale festivals and this is NOT the way to go about sound checks for an evening concert. Super disappointed in an organization that's typically a pillar of awesome within our community. I don't know who the fest coordinator is; but they need lessons in community etiquette, better planning and proper time line management. I expected more from such an organization... read more

I went to the Culture Club concert at this location last night and to say I was disappointed would be a gross understatement. I felt like I got robbed!! First off, they charged $15 for parking, when there was no notice of a parking fee and they own the parking lot. I found out later that they started charging that fee because they did not sell as many tickets to the events as they thought they would. The guy sitting next to me didn't pay this fee. Second, they said the concert started at 6 so, I got there early only to have to way in the 100 degree heat until 6, when they decided to start letting us in. Third, for the price that was charged, they had us sitting on hard metal folding chairs, and they didn't set out enough of them. There were recess lighting that was fell to hanging from its wires in the ceiling. Luckily, they didn't fall on anyone. Fourth, the sound was terrible. They had the bass up too loud and the main mic up to loud. Supposedly, they tried to fix it, but the guy must have bad hearing because it still wasn't right. At one point Boy George couldn't hear himself, in his ear piece, and at the beginning, the sound was lost on the piano player. It was frustrating for the performers, but they did the best they could. I am glad I saw them perform before at a venue that was up to their level so, I know how good they can sound. I wish I could get my money back, I was robbed!! Oh, and when I got home and looked at the shirt I bought, the lettering is blotchy on the front and the back. My 14 yr old said it sounded like I went to a "bootleg" concert. Shame on the Morocco Shrine auditorium, I will not support this organization since this is how they like to treat people. read more

They have a lot of nerve charging $15 for parking at such a shabby, second rate facility. Very disorganized entrance. They charge $7 for a TINY (seemed to me to not even be 12 ounces) beer. The sound quality is the worst of any venue I've heard in Jacksonville if not ANYWHERE. Unless it's an act I really wanted to see, like Boy George with CULTURE CLUB, I'm good with NEVER coming back here. read more

I always love going to the gun and knife shows here. I unfortunately had a not so good experience last time however. People were packing up and leaving, I guess it was closing time. Some older gentleman at one of the tables told me that obviously their done for the day and if I touch anything on his table he'll SHOOT me. I had no intentions of even looking at anything on his table or touching for that matter. They need to do a better job letting these quacks go over some rules of proper customer service/business management. People like that give gun owners and gun shows a bad name. Keep people like him OUT. read more

He is not giving us any information while I know he is the person to see that item last at the end of the night yesterday . If I do not find this item I am going to file a comaplain against this guy. Went to Culture Club Concert on July9th, pulled into parking lot and was asked for $15.00 parking fee to park in an already full lot...parked, waited over an hour in line around the back of building in the heat and threatening bad weather...by the time we got in the first act was already done playing...found our seats to find that we after paying for VIP tickets were also seated by Groupon purchased seats for $15.00...poor security on their part...tip jars on top of bars were hand written by a seemingly 5 year old and on a 5 gallon bucket..the venue was not what we expected, seemed a bit "ghetto" as stated by other VIP ticket holders. Boy George stated when he came out that it looked like he was playing in a swimming pool and asked "what kind of place is this "?? The audience more than agreed with him...the sound problem he had which made him walk off was due to the sound crew not the venue I believe but would not have been surprised...the concert itself was good, I am glad I got to see him. I would like to publicly apologize to all the bands that is venue is not representative of what Jacksonville Florida has to offer...we have beautiful venues...but this place should stick to Gun Shows, Doll Shows and the Circus....never have a concert here again....you are giving Jacksonville a bad name !!! read more
