Pet It Forward/Gina deserves the award of the year from our household! We have a precious…read more(ShihTzu) little girl named Princess who desperately needed to be seen by a VET ASAP because I thought she was having a seizure & have bloodwork done due to something she got into. Frantically I called Gina & to my surprise she started making calls for me. Not only did she help find somewhere affordable to take Princess, but stayed in communication w/me the entire trip as well from beginning to end. Even during the VET'S actual visit, to ensure that we received excellent care @11pm at night. Which we did & Princess was able to come home with/a clean bill of health after the scariest night ever! Without Gina walking me through this, idk what I would have done. It's not often that you call a complete stranger & the person on the other end, ends up being an Angel! Gina words truly cannot express to you what you've done for our family. I will certainly not ever forget & will shout from the rooftops that there is certainly still hope for our pets through folks like YOU. P.s. This faithful group may fluctuate of volunteers, food availability, and people in need... but the Love is a constant!!! The lines start early and the set up starts even earlier. This team is run like a well-oiled machine and are efficient, effective, and willing to share Love with their acts of service. Food is organized for the purpose of providing for the appropriate amount of food for the appropriate amount of people. The food comes from a lot of different sources, but with the same heart of Love and Hope. There is a group of volunteers that also like to help out by providing prayer support to the individual cars as they are awaiting their turn in the drive thru line. Once upon a time I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and bombarded with information, advice and my…read moreemotions that were all over the map. I had already been involved with American Cancer Society through Relay for Life at my kids local high school and my scout troop (at the time) volunteered for set up, clean up and we always had some sort of fundraising booth at the event. In a blink I became a recipient of their services. Not every knows but American Cancer Society gives the bulk of their donations to research to find a cure. They also are involved within each community providing numerous services for those battling cancer and for their caregivers. They can offer driving services for treatments, various mental health services either in group settings or one on one counseling. They also have a tremendous online community and even an online journaling option. I utilized both the online services and the therapy during my treatment. At the time I was newly divorced and had three teenagers. My mental health during treatment was paramount. I have a friend of the family who is a breast cancer research doctor- on the front line trying to understand the cancer and finding a cure and she told me that hands down- American Cancer Society donates the most amount of their incoming funds to research. Especially for Breast Cancer research. Other big name Breast Cancer non-profits don't even compare. Their reach within the community and on a much bigger scale has always made me a fierce supporter of ACS. Making Strides is their breast cancer walk/run/fundraiser. But they are making a huge impact across all cancers. I have participated in years of events for the organization and will always consider them as one of my top choices for donating time and/or money.
