To start I was given a "welcome bag" that included a mini bottled water and a bag of goldfish. How welcoming. Paid for a lake view room that was partially visible through windows that look like they've never been washed. The luke warm shower will give your feet a bath while you're showering as it fills up with all the dirty water from not only washing your body off but also whatever was on the bottom of the tub. There's no vent/ fan in the bathroom. Good luck trying to straighten your hair after showering. There's no other mirror besides the one in the bathroom above the sink. The tv screen was blue. You can hear EVERYTHING through the 2 inch hole under the door. The bed is not forgiving. However, I will say the outside is beautiful.

After leaving I see a $760 charge on my account AND missing 70,000 points! IHG customer service says it was points (which it was), the General Manager Christina Threadgill Gooden said it was made with money. I provided picture proof of the points missing from my account and the confirmation email confirming points as payment. She did not care. Refuses to refund me my money. I have had to file a dispute with my CC company which oddly enough the IHG customer service rep recommended. The upgraded "suite" we stayed in was a horror from the start. I'll attach photos for proof. We used a confirm able upgraded to get the upgraded room which was one of the worst suites we've ever been in room 319. Whoever painted it got blue paint on the shower, the tile, the trim, inside the kitchen cabinets, the closet, the toilet plumbing. The cabinets were so filthy we didn't feel comfortable putting our food in it. The AC didn't work, I had to call the front desk because it was leaking all over the floor and I slipped in it after getting up the first morning. The second mini AC in the room leaked a HUGE puddle. The room would never get below 70 so we couldn't even sleep well, that's why we checked out an entire day early.  The tv remote wouldn't work so I called the front desk they sent up an older gentleman (he was very nice) but he took 20+ minutes and two trips to finally fix it. I didn't want to be rude, but he had the worse body odor. It took the room 30 minutes to air out after he left.  This was one of the worse experiences I have ever had at an IHG. I've stayed here in the past on business and it was a great location, but the newer GM Christina Threadgill Gooden has ran it into the ground as of late. PLEASE do not stay here until the GM is replaced.

Although the hotel was about 20 minutes from downtown, the reasonable price during a busy holiday weekend made it a good choice. We checked in at 3:00 PM, but there was a slight delay, and we had to wait around 30 minutes to get the keys to our room. Our room had two double-sized king beds, which were comfortable and spacious enough for our family of three to share one bed easily. The only issue we faced during our stay was with the air conditioner. We set it to automatic, but it was either too cold or too warm, making it difficult to maintain a consistent temperature in the room. On the positive side, the breakfast provided by the hotel was included in our stay and was delicious. It was convenient to have a good breakfast without needing to spend extra money. Overall, our stay at Holiday Inn Express & Suites was comfortable, and we didn't encounter any major problems.

We held our breath however, because our first room was 206 and they moved us to 306, so we wondered if we would have the same issue. The second room initially seemed fine, so we unpacked our things and went out to enjoy the "Nights of Lights." We also had stopped at a German bakery along the way and had $30 of pastries in a box that we placed on a high shelf, just in case. On returning to our room about 10:30pm, we noticed ants again, everywhere, on the bedside table, the bathroom sink, bathroom wall, and kitchenette counter. I went to the front desk again, but they informed us there was nothing they could do as they were fully booked for the night. We felt like we were stuck for the night, so went back to the room and sat down to eat a pastry only to discover the box was crawling with ants! We packed up our things and went back downstairs and informed the desk it was worse than we realized and we were leaving. Since we booked through a third party, they informed us we had to contact the third party to request a refund. We made the three hour drive home at midnight. The next morning we contacted the third party, who then reached out to the hotel directly to get approval for the refund. The agent came back and said the hotel was only willing to refund us for two nights, not three! I asked to escalate the issue with a supervisor and explained that we should not be charged for a room we did not spend the night in. She called the hotel again and said the hotel was firm about only refunding us for two nights. Thankfully the third party agreed to refund us the other night, which they certainly did not have to do. It appears this is an ongoing problem, because I have now seen another review with complaints of ants and the hotel being unwilling to refund them as well. So not only is there an ant infestation, but there is also a lack of basic customer service from management. DO NOT stay at this hotel ever!

The courses were designed by Arnold Palmer (King) and Jack Nicklaus (Bear). Lots of pictures of the two during their careers line the hallway.
