Single source cow hamburger is very good..Nice to know that I'm eating hamburger meat from one Cow and not a mixture of 1000 cows or more. Easy pick up and a good selection of grass fed beef. read more

A food tent at the Ferry Building on Tuesdays focusing on burgers, just burgers, like not even any sides. Pretty minimal in that you don't even get a plate; the burger comes wrapped in paper. Burger competition is strong in these parts so something like Super Duper is a tad better at a fraction of the price. Cracked Burger: Looked a lot more appealing than it actually was. I'm obsessed with parmesan crisps, so that drew me to this burger. However, their crisp wasn't all that crispy, like it was made a few days prior. The burger itself tasted like good quality beef, but was pretty dry. Probably a combination of a low fat ratio and cooking well done. Along the same dry theme, the egg itself didn't have any runny parts either. Bunaburger: This simpler burger (bacon, cheese, onions) turned out to be way tastier than the fancy Cracked Burger. For one, it seemed juicer, probably thanks to the fatty cheese and bacon. Also, it went down smooth like a fast food burger, but much higher end. Blackberry Sage Drink: Thankfully heavy on the blackberry bits and light on the sage. A bit like an agua fresca, though not as overly sugary. Quite refreshing. read more

This place ROCKS!!!! We came across them when we saw them featured on the news a few years back. They have wonderful customer service - always getting right back to you regarding your questions. You can order online and then you pick your delivery time and date (at elast for SJ they have multiple options) The delivery process is easy - you meet them at a designated place at a specific time, stand in line with your checkbook in hand. They grab your boxes (one is of the cuts and one is of the ground beef), calculate your cost depending on the weight of the boxes and you write them a check. I bought a small deep freeze to store the meat and it lasts all year just fine, This year I will actually run out before my delivery, which is fine because then I can thaw my freezer and clean it (it's been 2 years since that occurred :) ) I woudl highly recommend their beef for the quality and taste! read more

I found Morris grass fed beef last year when I decided I wanted my beef to come all from one animal and I wanted a personal relationship with the rancher. I love the way they treat the animals and they way they move the cattle to different pastures so the land is not over grazed. The taste of the meat is amazing and although you do end up with a lot of ground beef(we bought 1/4 but this time we ordered a 1/2) but the taste is so superior to anything you will find in the store you will just eat it up. We ended up running out of the ground beef first! I live in San Diego and checked out a lot of ranches up the coast until I settled on this one. I drive up from San Diego to get my beef so its not exactly local for me. I've been ordering from Morris Grass Fed Beef for 2 years now. I order a split half which lasts the 2 of us for about 9 months. I love the beef and the price. I cook the steaks rare and love the juicy, beefy flavor. I also love getting their beef tongue, and bones. I grew up in Australia where grass fed beef was the norm so I love the flavor of grass fed beef. It's true that you also get a lot of ground beef but the opportunities for cooking it up are endlessly varied. The meat is delivered to a neighborhood very close to my home and I get to meet Joe himself who usually makes the delivery. I love getting the newsletters and I really love supporting this family as it makes a real go of raising beef in a wonderfully sustainable way. So get yourself a nice big freezer and start stocking up on their wonderful grass fed beef. Remember there is a delay from when you order until when you receive your order so plan accordingly. Well here it is 2017, 5 years on and I'm still in love with their beef. Last year I ordered just ground beef and am loving it. Let me start off by saying that I am not a beef person. I can find fault in cuts from the finest steak houses and have only ever had two steaks that were truly awesome. With that said, this is the best beef I have ever tried. The flavor in the meat really illustrates how feed lot raised or finished beef has been bastardized and manipulated before it gets to our dinner plates. After all cows can not even digest corn properly and it is evident in the final product. I know most of us have been conditioned to a certain flavor when it comes to burgers or other beef products, but WAKE UP!!! Say no to factory farming, cruel farming practices and mass produced inferior meat, and say YES to local grass fed meats!!! read more

The meat, if you're not used to it, is different from the factory made stuff you find in standard supermarkets-- leaner and "beefier". We love our Morris grassfed beef. Right now, we're on the annual plan, buying a quarter cow a year. It works out to just over $6 a pound for everything from ground beef to filet mignon, and we love it all. I had to learn how to cook grassfed beef -- lower temperatures, basically, to avoid drying it out -- and now we get great results from all of the cuts. Picked-up our first split half in January and have already had some stew meat, the cross rib roast and the flank steak. Excellent! I do have to order more of the wonderful ground beef as we had the kids over for grilled burgers and they wanted to take some home. I said "No way" but Mom intervened and I'm out six pounds! The experience was fine. Yet I can't say this beef is worth the price simply because there is no taste to them. I am 3/4 of a way through my $400 order, yet I can't seem to get any of the meat to cook right because they are extremely chewy. No matter how pink they are, they are just chewy and I have more tendons than meat. I say just save your money and get buffalo if you really want grass fed products and want something that taste better than normal supermarket stuff. It's definitely 1 star for taste, I give 1 extra one only because this is a more natural product. read more

I think this place is fantastic; love their mission, and their meat! I was really interested in obtaining local grassfed beef and found Morris, I think maybe on EatWild? I asked for a chest freezer for my birthday and then teamed up with some family and friends to split a "split-half" as our first try on their meat. Everyone in the group has been super happy with the taste, and the price really can't be beat for the quality of the product. Our first homemade grassfed beef burgers were really incredible, I dream of eating these (especially since I'm already out of the ground beef :( we need to order more!) This product is incredible and the people are awesome too! We absolutely love their product! It tastes great and is so incredibly good for you. Grass fed beef vs grain fed beef is a different "animal" all together. Grass fed beef is more nutritious, contains more omega threes and less overall fat and it has a lower impact on the environment! When buying from Morris, you get a high quality product at an excellent price! I love the CSA option which allows us to pick up beef at different times throughout the year. Soup bones!! I've never had soup bones with so much delicious meat on them! Morris grassfed beef soup bones are the best!! Yesterday was cool and foggy all day, so I decided to make beef broth which I could then use when making my all beef chili. This morning I had a wonderful pot full of gelatinous beef stock! I separated the bones and the veggies, and when I tasted some of the beef, it was still flavorful!! I used the beef and the stock when making my chili. I also added a pound of the Morris grassfed ground beef because I had about 4 quarts of stock and I really like my chili thick. It's cooking right now, and I can't wait for dinner. Knowing where your beef is coming from, receiving excellent responses to questions, and meeting Joe and Julie when they deliver your order are some of the reasons I'm a repeat customer, and I tell my friends about Morris Grassfed Beef as well. read more

I really wanted to love them, but came across an unforeseen problem...bone chips in my ground beef. Their customer service to rectify the problem was really lacking, though it was finally taken care of. I will still give them three stars, though, because the rest of the beef we received is really great. I have been getting my beef from Joe and Julie Morris for, gosh, I don't know how many years now... ten? More? Probably more. I just cannot say enough good about them, the service they provide not only to us, the consumers (access to incredible quality, wholly pasture-raised beef for an amazingly affordable price!), but to the environment with their holistic pasture management, and to the animals themselves, which are treated with the utmost care and respect. These guys are high integrity; true stewards of the land and its inhabitants. If there is any doubt in your mind whatsoever, I *highly* encourage you to attend their annual "field day", which is usually in the spring (typically April). [Get on their mailing list to be notified.] Walk the pastures with Joe and he will explain all that they are doing, answer any questions... every year I learn more, and every year I am more committed to them as a customer. Of course if you don't want to wait that long before trying their beef, you can go on my word and order some... and then not only will you get to enjoy the meat while you wait, you'll be on the mailing list and automatically be notified of the field walk/day when the time comes. If you have kids, DEFINITELY bring the kids! This is a kid-friendly operation. (Joe teaches them how to use a lasso!) Really, I could go on and on... What can I say that all the other reviewers haven't? This beef rocks. We have been purchasing a split half cow regularly from these guys for 4 years now. We have NEVER had a bad piece of meat. In fact, the opposite is true - it is amazing tasting. I can't believe how much money we are saving by buying directly from the rancher. We purchased an upright manual-defrost freezer and put it in the garage. The amount of money we spent on the freezer was saved in the first year along by buying from Morris Grassfed. Their bones make excellent bone broth, and we use the ground beef regularly for dishes like kitchari, chili, casseroles, etc. As long as they are in business, we will be buying from them. You just can't buy higher quality meat. Even the ground beef tastes amazing! I've been eating their meat for two years now and all my friends are now enjoying this beef too. And to comment on service/family business. You can't buy from nicer, kinder, more caring people. They treat their ranching like a calling and care for their animals with deep love and respect as they do their land. This is how beef should be: natural, cared for animals, treated to the tasty green grass they deserve and harvested and brought to table locally. They treat me like one of the family and when I call or email with a request I get such a quick response, I'm always surprised. Anyhow, I can recommend them more highly.
