Had a poor experience with Officer Fedderhoff after reporting an alarming incident involving another party. Rather than taking a diplomatic approach as most ethical officers do while gathering both sides of the story, he decided to not only be biased but dishonest and antagonist as well. When I shared my concern to his Supervisor Officer Rodriguez, he ignorantly responded "so what do you want me to do about it" but after reading all their negative reviews, Im not so surprised about their lack of professionalism and actually feel sorry for them as it sounds like they're not very well liked and appreciated by even the locals out there... Firstly, can someone please explain why the Morrison Police uniforms look like SWAT or Special Ops? Is it supposed to intimidate or distract us from their incompetence? I feel like that's an actual possibility after reading a job posting for a part time police officer on their website. Basically, all they require is that you're 21+ and you're literate. I'm serious. Worse than the uniforms, are their cruisers/interceptors. They're undoubtedly designed to not be seen. They're literally all black with a teeny tiny silver shield on the door. How is this passing for a "marked" car? Police cars are supposed to be symbols of public safety and trust. These vehicles represent sneaky fu*kiness. They're is no way to argue against that either. Just take note of how and where they park while clocking speeds and NEVER will you see their lights on. Not only are they being sneaky, they're being unsafe. Especially when they're parked on C470 FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC, IN TOTAL DARKNESS (in their all black vehicles) in the tiny V shaped area between the highway and the top of the Morrison exit ramp. If you've seen them do this, you know how scary and dangerous this is. Not to mention it's got to be UNLAWFUL AF! Clearly, the not leading by example here! Sheesh. Apparently, catching a speeder is worth risking lives. It's no secret, especially over the past 8 years, that Morrison has become a speed trap town. They went from having one full time officer to SIX and it's difficult to not suspect the Morrison PD has been issuing speeding tickets more for revenue than safety. It's unfortunate. Morrison is such a cool little town, but with the current Morrison PD it's like a dark cloud is looming over it. I don't blame people for staying away. This has to be costing local businesses. On 6/5/17 I was pulled over by officer A. Dehry who made 3 of 5 kids in my mini van cry and harassed me. He pulled me over for not stopping making a left hand turn from a busy road (Rooney Rd) onto a busy highway (highway 8) where you have to stop for safety reasons to see cars coming from a blind corner. On 2/18/2019 I received a ticket from Officer Magued Yaft that was totally fabricated. He claimed that I (oh and 2 others in a row) Failed to yield the right of way to a stopped emergency vehicle. But get this-- He was not involved in any "emergencies" according to his record. He had no lights on and was sitting perpendicular to 285 trying to catch speeders when I passed him. Yaft had recorded 2- 5 minutes lapses between stops, so it was clear that the drivers did not fail to yield the right of way to a stopped, engaged emergency vehicle. Not only was he lying; he was rude and antagonistic. He pulled me over in Indian Hills and said, "Don't think I will let you are not back up (4 feet) to turn around. You"ll have to go all the way back to Morrison." I took a morning off from teaching to go to court and planned to do so again tomorrow for the trial. I spent hours preparing to prove this Officer was mendacious to hopefully save other drivers from this nonsense. Thank goodness, I just received a dismissal from the attorney for Morrison, indicating the ticket failed to meet police department standards. I think they realized when they saw what I requested in Discovery that I was going to expose this 'representative' of the Morrison Police Deptartment as dishonest. At least the Chief and prosecutor could see where I was going to go with this and did the right thing for me. I think it is important in this day and age that departments only staff honest, reliable officers who will go out and apprehend REAL criminals. I was recently traveling through Morrison and was stopped by a local police officer. At the end of the stopping I felt truly wronged and began to understand many people's distrust for law enforcement. Even worse than the predatory ticketing, the police officer was very bad at explaining why he stopped me and then further went on to try and pressure me into signing an extra line on the ticket that would have only served to benefit him. I investigated further after returning home. It is police departments like Morrison's that are to blame for people across the country voting to cut police budgets. Morrison is home to a state landmark and park, Red Rocks, but the Morrison police department have attempted (and succeeded) in profiting off this by turning the entire town into a speed trap, as described in a 2012 CBS news article you should search for online. They have then used the proceeds to buy expensive cruisers and even create their own SWAT team (in a town of about 500 people). To nobody's surprise this SWAT team has never seen action, and there is no feasible excuse why Morrison would need this capability instead of relying on the appropriate state and federal level authorities, like essentially all other small towns do. I have not seen such a poor use of funds since the Vietnam War. The people of Morrison should take it upon themselves to elect a mayor who will turn this around. Doing so will surely help local business and improve the lives of everybody passing through the area. And to all the troopers serving under the ridiculous policies of your chief: stop using the Nuremberg defense, and stand up for your values, which are hopefully a real desire to make the community a better place. If that's not possible then at least apologize to all the hardworking police officers in place like south Chicago and the Bronx who are actually attempting to stop crime but are facing budget cuts and a bad reputation because of police departments, like Morrison's, who do nothing other than harass tourists from the comfort of a brand new SUV. In today's climate of police being assassinated in a hostile anti-LEO environment, cops need to have each other's backs. This is why I was surprised to learn that an Active Police Officer was written a summons for speeding on THANKSGIVING DAY. In many small communities that have police departments, officers are forced to work solo due to manpower restraints. If that solo officer gets attacked during a car stop, very often there is no one there to help him EXCEPT for an off duty officer who may be happening to drive by. Your cop writing officer may have dis-inclined many cops from other agencies from stopping and giving assistance. When I joined the NYPD over three decades ago, there was a seasoned vet during the medical testing phase lovingly named 'Skippy' ... and the legendary phrase that he said that is constantly invoked to this day is, "SKIPPY SAYS COPS DON'T WRITE OTHER COPS!" Since the Morrison Police Department so blatantly ripped off the NYPD patch design, maybe they should listen to a veteran from there who knew how to treat other officers! read more

Really disheartened on Father's Day to be pulled over at Mt. Vernon and Market Street by Officer Missiha for my husband rolling thru a red and given a $135 ticket on the way to Red Rocks for a concert. We were nice, I was crying bc that's just what happens when I get stressed out. My husband admittedly thought it was a yield on this TINY backstreet and the officer pulled out right behind us and we immediately pulled over after 10 feet. A passerby who is a local in Morrison asked me thru my passenger window what happened. I told him and he said this is a regular "trap" at this intersection that police officers pull to mess with concert goers and make a cool $135 for rolling thru a BACK street stop sign. Apparently this is their local racket to lay in wait when there's congestion due to concerts and why they have the most tickets and fines that bring in revenue in the state of CO. The officer could have given us a warning as we admittedly said we rolled thru and thought it was a yield. We asked him to please give us a break, clean records and model citizens. It was Father's Day after all. We just wanted a relaxing day. He stated he had to work on Father's Day and he was giving us a ticket and didn't care. I then began to cry more and we left. Not a nice person. Surely there's a more productive job for Officer Missiha on a Sunday evening actually doing some good and focusing on CRIME. Petty traffic tickets are this PD's claim to fame. BEWARE rolling thru Morrison, Co to enjoy some music responsibly. The officer was petty and grumpy. Ridiculous. We will be there for court to fight this. I recently moved to Lakewood. Upon my very first commute from work to my new residence I was ticketed for switching lanes essentially!?!? I had never driven the C470 hwy and was not certain about the exits. After realizing I was in an exit only lane, I signaled to get over, waited for a clearing in traffic, and merged once there was an opening. I was immediately pulled over. When I apologized and tried to explain that I was not familiar with this particular highway I was very rudely told "ma'am just because you are lost does not give you the right to break the law!" After taking my DL, Ins. and registration the officer comes back to the car and proceeds to tell me he is towing my vehicle- although he can't explain why!!! Then he hands me $113 ticket and says "sorry ma'am when it rains it pours." At this point I am more concerned about the fact that MY VEHICLE IS BEING TOWED! Regardless, I was left on the side of the highway to figure out my own way home. Later that evening as I am hastily making phone calls to figure WTH is going on, I receive a call from CO state patrol, who has informed me that my vehicle was "wrongfully towed" and I would be able to pick up my vehicle at no charge from the tow lot once they opened in the morning!?!?!? WTF!! Obviously, I was happy to hear that- but I was most concerned w/ why it was towed in the first place- but of course " no one really quite knew!?" The Cheif of Police; Rudy Sandoval, says the following is his mission: "It is my goal to build the Morrison Police Department into a department that is respected, trusted and thought of as a "Professional Department" by the citizens, business community, the administration of the Town of Morrison and the Law Enforcement community." ...I think he is a long way off. And I am led to believe that he has no interest in running a "respected and trusted" department! The people of Morrison need to seriously look into this- elect a government official who will intervene!!! Good luck to the people of Morrison and all of those simply passing thru!
