Jason was professional and friendly while beginning the process of our application. The person processing our application did not access the Register of deeds to find that our home is clear of any mortgage, she Googled the address and then question us about recently selling our home. When infact, if she had checked with official website she would have found there was a recent change in our will leaving our house to our daughter upon our deaths. Then when we sat down at closing, the young man was very unprofessional in several ways. I realized my name was incorrect and brought it to his attention and his response was "oh it will be ok, just draw a line through it and spell it correctly". He was flippant and very unprofessional. I learned at signing our loan had already been sold to another company. This may be an industry normal, however I find it very disturbing and I resent it immensely! Finally, after closing we received a call from our bank asking us if it was ok to release the funds for payment because the cashiers check had not been processed correctly. We also received a call from our homeowners insurance company asking if they were going to be paid monies for the first year of insurance because they had not received payment. What started out to be a very good experience with Jason, ended with my not ever wanting to do business again. read more

I've never applied for a mortgage before so I can't compare them to anyone else, but I can say that I had no problems with Mortgage America, in fact I thought they were great. We initially went with them based on our realtors recommendation, but we also checked in with rates at TD Bank. Mortgage America was .5% lower than what TD offered us. Our agent was Jerry Wehr & he was very thorough in my opinion, answered a ton of my questions, even fielded calls from my father & faxed copies of the paperwork for him to review because he couldn't be there in person. We closed in 30 days on our house & didn't have any complications or delays other than them asking for some additional paperwork (i.e. - verifying deposits). Yes, they sold our mortgage to BoA, but the realtor & the notary at our closing said that's pretty standard for a lot of places. read more

Wouldn't trust them at all after what they put us through. Going back and forth with constant changes in loan, terms, and personalities among employees. This is a mortgage broker. They promised an early closing and have not delivered. I chose them over other brokers and banks for their faster closing speed even though they had a higher rate. Every day brings a new delay. I get the forms back to them instantly (5 minutes) at times. I don't feel they have the same or any urgency. I should of went with their competitor. read more

The only reason I went with this company is because my husband used them previously and had a good experience. For me, they were difficult in every aspect. I had to submit the same paperwork several times. The broker was rude to me and the seller. The closing company Mortgage America used had the worst customer service ever. Settlement was pushed back almost an entire month. Two weeks after closing, our mortgage was sold to another company. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

If you are ready to do all of the work yourself, ask questions to which they have no answers, and find out at your closing date that they have not done the necessary work then this is the company for you.
