This hospital was the worst experience I have ever experienced! Please if you have a loved one, do not let them go there. The staff was horrible, the care was an epic failure and there was absolutely ZERO privacy for the patients. When a loved one is in a hospital, you do not treat the people who were and will be caring for them like trash and be disrespectful! Mine signed me as HCP and repeatedly told staff to include me in her care options. I sat in that hospital for 5 whole days with a loved one who was incapacitated clinging to me with dear life and you refused to treat me with any kind of respect. Was also not allowed to bring in any outside food or drink and was not offered a sip of water. Bought a diet coke from a vending machine and I was told to get rid of it. I'm a diabetic, I get thirsty and I had been there from early morning when the ambulance took my family member to the hospital only because it was the closest to the house. We were in the emergency room hallway for an entire day before being moved to a bay. Never even seen a doctor. Just a person monitoring the hallway and a nurse for 5 minutes doing a scan with zero privacy! I held up a blanket for my loved one that was totally uncomfortable with people watching from the other bays and other staff walking around like it was a normal thing to be unclothed in the middle of chaos and other people. When the transfer finally took place because she needed care for something they could not handle, I asked where she was going and was told they didn't know the address! I had to ask the EMT where they were transferring my loved one! I was like "OMG, what if I never see them again because I cannot find them"? I don't care how old she is, she is my loved one! I am a patient at one of the best hospitals in Boston for extensive health issues. They encourage family involvement, my loved one is always at my appointments and is always treated very well by the doctors and staff and they reassure her that I am ok. They include her with no questions asked AND she isn't my HCA! The difference in care, respect and overall pretty much everything between my care at a good hospital and my loved ones care at a terrible one, was so vast that I swear I will be traumatized for life. Not to mention my loved one's trauma. Thank god she came home a day and a half after that horrific stay at Morton Hospital! Absolutely disgusting! I wouldn't send an animal there. read more

Sorry to say that although there are some extremely great nurses and doctors at this facility, they cannot carry the weight and burden of the majority of the nurses and doctors that are employed here that should have their licenses and credentials pulled immediately. I was admitted and had to hear my nurse tell me countless times I wasn't her top priority patient!! Left a bleeding/leaking IV in my arm and said and I quote "I will leave that for the daytime nurse just in case there is an issue with the IV site!! Then when I was finally release I unfortunately returned a short 6 hours later with more pain than I originally arrived with. I seen the nurse and doctor one time right when I arrived and was left in the room in excruciating pain for almost 5 hours. They bring me to cat scan get me on the bed to just get me back off the bed and told me "oh you didn't drink the drink yet, returned me to my room to drink the drink and said I would be returned 90 minutes later. So after waiting 1 hour and 45 minutes I hit the nurse call button and they said "how can I help you" I said I was supposed to return to cat scan 15 minutes ago and they said "oh yeah your 2 hour timer went off just now" how did a two hour timer go off before two hours had elapsed? So I went for the cat scan and returned 15 minutes later. 2 hours later with a dry IV bag my girlfriend politely waived down a nurse and said "I don't know what's going on" and the nurse (male, large in stature) immediately said "you need to be quite and let me talk, took a large step towards her and that's when I jumped from my bed because he was loud, threatening, aggressive and from my opinion look like he was going to attack her in some manner. So I said I don't think you know what you're doing buddy we have had no one care for this room since we got here!! The service was horrendous, the lack of care was despicable and this nurses bedside manner and attitude was beyond unprofessional and borderline threatening. So we excused ourselves from the emergency room and as we were walking by the nurses stations they were all laughing, doctors included saying "well at least we are getting something right" to which I replied "no you have got nothing right tonight" I even heard and seen with my own eyes one male nurse open a Pepsi can put a straw in the can and say to his colleagues "well I guess I'm a waiter and not a nurse tonight" walked into the room delivered the drink and as he was walking out say to the patient "you have your TV on you'll be fine" what in the grace of god is happening at this hospital? Get your bleep together!! You're caring for the sick and less fortunate stop acting like you were forced to accept this responsibility and take some classes on humanity!! I would be on my death bed and drive by this hospital to get to the next best place that actually cares about their patients as each patient is unique and although requires a different set of care, at the end they all need you as none of us want to be there!! I will be filing with every agency I can to get this place on a map of hospitals that needs to be evaluated after these events. And I've only listed a few I personally experienced. This was our second visit to Morton ER for mental health issues. There is a special wing just for these patients- or should I say prisoners. They are kept in small solitary rooms, less comfortable than a prison cell. Ask the staff for assistance, you are ignored. No one comes to check. Was there for 3 days. Saw a doctor for 5 minutes upon entry (learned they are required by law to evaluate a patient in the first hour), never saw one again. The bed is so small, an infant would have trouble. Impossible to sleep. Especially for people with mental health issues, we know why we are there. Just give us a good bed, and our proper meds on time. We will sleep and not bother you. read more

Came in with shortness of breath -diagnosis was flu+ and pneumonia both lungs -admitted and told that I would be moved upstairs as soon as a room was available -I'm not sure of the time that I arrived at the hospital ED but my best guesstimate is between 7pm and 9pm. ( it was not dark yet) I never waited in waiting room I was triaged straight through to the ED Triage nurse couldn't understand how I looked so much better than my O2 stats were recording and thought that possibly the O2 meter was malfunctioning SOON AS SUN WENT DOWN THE ED TURNED INTO A WAR ZONE . I was ignored by staff. My concerns for my safety were belittled and when I pushed my buzzer for a medical concern I was shushed back to my tiny gurney that was soaked as well as my person was due to fever and panic attack provoked hot/cold sweats and told to take a deep breath. I told them that I couldn't and that I had pneumonia ( shouldn't they have known). I was physically guided back to my sweaty, wet gurney. I also agreed to use the bi-pap machine as suggested by respiratory staff. The respiratory staff in general should find a better alternative to introduce the bi-pap to patients. I have 0 history with claustrophobia; however, the machine was introduced as some thing that I should be afraid of I had never had the need to use a bi-pap machine in the past and the respiratory therapist?Pam, ? Not sure of name )that was trying to put mask on me was struggling to get the mask to fit as it should. I had the mask on and it was not feeling quite right on the lower right side on my jaw line. The seal was breaking and after a hour or maybe a bit more the mask litterally "popped " off my face without any warning or initiation on my part. The "POP" and my scream because I was startled when it popped off my face unexpectedly brought staff running and yelling into my locked room. After that occurred I didn't want to put it back on I asked about getting a room and once again was told that there was none. I asked about getting my reg meds and I was told that I couldn't have them because it would reduce my breathing and I would have to be intubated. Intubate was used as a threat not a possible form of treatment. IE: you don't want to be intubated do you?? "We will have to intubate you " I explained that many of my daily meds were of the kind that can not just be stopped and that itself had the possible effect of making me more unwell I spoke to cardiac NP and she agreed that my meds should be given and that nothing I was on increased the risk to my current condition but that not administering the medication was definitely the wrong route to take -a lot of things were said and done to placate me - I was not treated with any respect or dignity and especially not empathy -I suggested that I might have to leave and asked for script for Antibiotics and I was left with out checking for all night while listening to and seeing first hand patient and non patient confrontations verbally and physically requiring constant need for internal security as well as local p d 08/14 Thursday Not given daily/reg meds. Not being fed I was still not in a room and not being medicated, except for tamiflu and still being told that bi pad was necessary, I explained my concerns from the previous day and they were overlooked. As a matter of fact, on more than one occasion I was referred to as "You's People "and spoken down to, I spent hours with no one even looking in on me. At one point I had considered leaving and was given all of the reasons why I shouldn't but since I wasn't really being treated I felt that I could have been given A script for antibiotics and gone home to rest and /or go to another hospital. If I had transportation I would have left but I was dropped off and alone and I can't drive anymore. told by ED staff that I couldn't have meds that would decrease my pulse/breathing and I would have to be intubated Ex: get back down and take a deep breath ( I couldn't) or we'll intubate you - Again intubation was used as a threat When I told staff that I was afraid and in a panic situation I was moved back to gurney and told to " just relax". I tried to explain that I couldn't just relax and staff walked out and locked the door behind them. I also named one of my medical conditions RLS and explained that w/out the medication Ropinorole, I take 2 mg at bedtime I couldn't " just sit down and I couldn't take a deep breath " -tried my best to explain that I use certain meds that can't just be stopped but no one was listening. The WORD OF THE NIGHT AGAIN WAS INTUBATE Much the same as the night before. Took my son into E.D at Morton, as advised by his visiting nurse for high glucose. E.D. staff was deliberately and extremely rude and viscious. One nurse said to me "Its not like he's going to die this second"! Another said I was being "disruptive". They were being so nasty. This is the second time this has happened. CNAs don't log elimination which leads to disastrous over medication and dehydration. Argumentative doctors who complain about a workload of 100 patients a night. Nurse practitioners doing the work of doctors, suggesting to patients that we google symptoms and treatments. Stay far, far away. The ED was filthy 08/15 1st thing when AM staff came in I made myself known that I couldn't be there another day and if they didn't get me a bed upstairs I was leaving AMA Just a FYI, I have never left a hospital AMA. I don't do that I went because I knew that it was sick and I stayed because I knew that I was sick. The problem was that no one else realized just how sick I was. - they even presented with a quizzical look IE: why are her numbers ( meaning O2 sats) so bad. - her chest doesn't sound that bad - her x-Ray doesn't look that bad Still no reg meds, I'm still asking Still no food and I'm not interested at this point Brought upstairs into a room mid day Once upstairs it was quickly determined that my situation was getting worse and I was on 30 liters oxygen and any movement my oxygen tanked. I agreed to use a bedpan and heated hi flow oxygen and they did a procedure to determine blood gas. After that they did a 2nd chest xray that confirmed pneumothorax at 95% collapsed -Dr came to me at 11:05 PM and advised that he had called thoracic surgeon in to do chest tube. I was brought upstairs to ICU for procedure and at 12AM 8/16 chest tube placed ICU 08/16-08/08/18-Sat, Sunday and moved Monday afternoon to S1- 116 Spent in ICU, amazing care tachycardia intermittent 8/19 Dr came in to take tube out and it should have been on water seal but it's on suction so I will have to wait in another day. Tube can't come out until at least tomorrow , staff. Error cost me a extra day in hospital Not sure which day but guessing the 15th cardiac NP came in and said that she had been called in because they think that my heart might be involved due to respiratory issues. I had a echocardiogram and it looked great but I remained in ICU due to tachycardia Never saw anyone from cardiac again 8/15 Tim from respiratory - went above and beyond, definitely the #1 on respiratory staff. Advocated for me x100000 and I believe saved my life. Colleen & Michelle in ICU - excellent care - Went to my PCP with edema and oral thrush on 8/28 Morton sent over paperwork that I was admitted on 08/15 not 8/13 and nothing about my treatment in the ED or non-treatment and abuse that I endured ( maybe 8/13 & 8/14 never happened or I just dreamt the whole thing?) They sent me home with out a prescription for lasix although I was given it while I was in hospital and I was sent home with a medication that causes fluid retention, I also was sent home with a med that is known to cause oral thrush and nothing to combat the thrush. It was "easier " to discharge me with chronic heart failure ( remember the perfect echocardiogram) and attribute the fluid retention to that than to write a prescription for the fluid retention. My PCP wrote me a prescription for both. read more

Very poor communication between departments. My mom had to be catheterized in the ER and after she was admitted the staff did not know about it. Every shift change one of us in the family has to update the incoming staff of her issues. Including severe alzheimer's, fall risk, and her inability to articulate her symptoms. Staff seems to care but, they are woefully under staffed in all departments. read more

This ER? I would maybe send my worst enemy here if I want them to be tortured. The overnight receptionist on July 19th 2024? I still think about her...not in a good way. If you want to be tortured in their EMPTY waiting room after the triage nurses torture you, ignore your pain, don't ask any questions and laugh at you, then definitely come here. They didn't even help after the fact, gave ibuprofen, and charged $800. I have never seen such abhorrent treatment in my entire life--and I used to work with former prisoners. They would get treated better than the way the ER treats patients. Drive further to anywhere else, its worth the risk of dying on the way than sitting and dealing with them. Seriously. read more

I went to brown medical Morton hospital Labor Day. It was the worst experience I have ever had in an er. I went there at 9am because I had a pain in my side and stomach area. I thought it could be a lipoma because I have had them before. I wanted to make sure that it wasn't something else and that that was what it was. I was there for 9 hours and had to track my own treatment because no one was helping me. I saw a nurse once early on. She took my vitals and I never saw her again for many hours. I had to look for her to ask if I was going to see a dr. Finally a dr came in and talked to me but didn't tell me how he was going to treat me. Later the nurse returned to tell me he ordered a ct scan. After hours I had to find her again to see when my scan would be done. She said "oh they haven't come for you yet". So I guess I would still be there had I not said anything. Then I waited another couple of hours for the results. At one point I asked the nurse for something to drink. Mind you I had not been asked how I felt, if I wanted anything to eat or drink all day. She said she would ask the dr if I could have anything. I never heard back from her. I saw her walk past my room many times. But she never came in my room. The last straw was a dr I had never seen came in to tell me good news. I can go home. They didn't see anything. I said so there is no lipoma? He said I didn't say that. You will have to follow up with your dr. That was not what I went there for. I should have left there with a complete diagnosis. They could have followed through with an ultrasound or something else. I shouldn't have to tell them how to treat me. I was livid. I went to the er to find out what was wrong with me because I have been in pain for weeks. If an emergency department in a hospital can't follow through to help patients then they are not qualified. That was the last visit I will have there. I have been there a few times before it was brown health and it was great. I did complain to the nurse that I thought the length of time I was there (9 hours) and she told me it was perfectly normal. I begged to differ with her. read more

STAFF WOULD NOT PROVIDE HYDRATION FOR AN ENTIRE SHIFT, even though there were no restrictions. My family member was treated in MORTON HOSPITAL ER recently. I was told that visitors were not allowed until 8:00 am, so I went back the next morning around 10:00 am. As I sat with my family member, they asked for a drink of water, since they had nothing to drink but a tiny amount (maybe two oz?) of melted ice and ginger ale from the previous night. Over the space of four or five hours, we asked the nurses and staff for a cup of water, to no avail. I was told that a nurse was on the way, but she never came, then I was told that she had been pulled to help another patient and the covering nurse was not familiar with my family member's case and would need time to check the chart first, and still the water never came. I offered to go get water myself, and was told that was not allowed. We did eventually got a single cup of water, but that was only after several more desperate requests. The shower, apparently, needed to be cleaned, and no one had time. I asked for a washcloth so that my family member could wipe themselves clean while waiting, and was told to wait until a nurse could be asked, bc no one had time for a washcloth. On my way home, I began to worry that no one would be there to help advocate for such things, so I called and was directed to the evening nurse, who had just arrived. The nurse took an immediately defensive/almost offensive tone, talking loudly over me and refusing to listen to my concerns. This hospital should be shut down. Denying a patient hydration in the absence of any IV fluids is absolutely inhumane. read more

Sorry to say that I hated this hospital. I was scheduled for a sigmoidoscopy. I had no ride, so I asked my friend if she could take me. She said yes. I was told the time to be there, and we agreed on a time for her to pick me up. The day I was scheduled to be there, I got a call asking where I was. I was totally confused. I told them the time I was told to be there and was told that that was the wrong time, and I needed to get there ASAP. I called my friend and, luckily, she could take me then. When we got there, I met others in the waiting room who had the same experience! We were ALL given the wrong times. We ALL got phone calls telling us to get there ASAP. Then we waited until I was called. They prepped me, then left me lying there for over an hour, as they took others who had also been called to come in. They finally took me into the room, and, again, it was a waiting game. My friend had no idea what was going on as she sat in the waiting room. They finally did the procedure, and I was in recovery. Again, they were overloaded. I finally said I was leaving, since I was fine. The doctor had already talked to me, and there was no reason for me to still be lying there. They said I had to wait for the paperwork. I got up, put on my clothes and waited AGAIN for the paperwork that seemed never to be done. I've had many surgeries and procedures over the years, and at different hospitals. I never experienced any hospital that was so disorganized ever before. Now I need a stress test and, unknowingly, my doctor scheduled it at Morton. I won't be going there. Terrible hospital! read more

I went to Morton Hospital because I was having a mild anaphylactic shock. This was on wendsday August 7 between 9:50 to 11:40. The first that saw me noticed there was a massive amount of swelling when she saw me. She quickly sent me back to a room to be looked at and the provider made me wait about 1 hour or 2 so the swelling would go down just to tell me I have no swelling. I understand some of the staff are protecting each other from law suits but all I wanted was good medical care. She lied to me even though there were obvious signs of swelling when I first arrived. I went here for issues with my gallbladder two weeks ago. I was recovering already from a surgery on my ankle six weeks prior (different hospital) so I already was uncomfortable. James the R.N. was moving my I.V. around in my arm which hurt. I told him to move the I.V.'s site and he would listen. I started to feel terrible pain in my arm on top of the other pains occurring in my body. My arm was swollen, red, and had a burning sensation. James had infiltrated my vein. My fiancée made him take out the I.V. and move the site. I was relieved when I was told I would be transferring hospitals via ambulance. Never again! read more

ER: Had a bad allergic reaction, breathing impacted. Drove down, easy parking, they took me right in and started addressing the issue immediately. I can't say enough about the good treatment I received. A+ staff. I am sad to say that in talking with the staff it felt as though the management is listening too much to this site and not looking at how well the ER functions. Went to the emergency room at 1AM and there was maybe 4 people ahead of me. Almost right away they took my vitals and gave me a chest x-ray and scan, then had me go back into the waiting room to wait on my results. Once it was 4AM and no one was being seen, I went to the receptionist who was absolutely no help and wouldn't just simply ask what the time frame would be. Once it was 6AM I asked again when I would be seen, and he only then just told me there's only ONE doctor and he is no help. He told me at 7AM more doctors start coming in, and i'd be seen shortly after that. Once it was 7:30AM and I still was not being seen, I just ended up leaving. If they only have one dr they should TELL THE PATIENTS! Sat there for 6 hours and got no help. Saw many families who needed urgent help sit there for 3-4 hours. Very neglectful staff. read more

Went in last night with symptoms of an internal infection. I told them all of my symptoms and was pulled back to triage, they were wonderful. That was at 9pm. In the time I was there, 9:15pm-4:30am they saw one patient. I and about 10 others were left without any updates in a waiting room with a man who was walking around calling everyone slurs while muttering that he was going to stab us and smash the phone over the security workers heads. Security did nothing but rile him up everytime they were called. I never saw the doctor and am actively having to look up a different hospital to go to. The front desk lady was borderline rude despite me being as understanding as I could be in the amount of pain I'm in as well as the ridiculous amount of time I spent there with no answers. They also refused to give me the results of my labs and told me if I left and came back I'd have to get retested. Ended up having to leave because my partner had to work today from 10-6 and being in an ER room full of stab wounds made me not want to take an uber home. I really hope they figure out how to run this er, but this is the third time either my partner or I have had a bad experience with them. read more

Went into the ER unable to breathe. 2 hours later without being seen, gasping for breathe the entire time, I finally asked how long it would be until I could see someone. And I was told by a nurse across the room, your talking you must be fine then goes back to chitchatting. Another 20 mins go by and a Dr ( I don't know their name because they never gave it to me) rudely lectures me about yelling at nurses ( which I never did) and stuff she just assumed about me and then leaves.... My father was sent here with Alzheimer's and has been so heavily sedated that he went into seizures when they tried to ween him off the meds. I visited four times and saw him unable to open his eyes, drooling on himself, pants undone, arms covered in bruises, glasses and hearing aid missing and general left alone in a wheelchair. (He was able to walk before being admitted). They seem understaffed and I only met one nurse, Jen, who showtime any sort of empathy and kindness. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. This is for the ER specifically. My grandmother waited in the ER forever to be seen, screaming in pain. She was transferred from a nursing home to Morton. Found out she had a horrible bowel obstruction and needed emergency surgery in Boston. She didn't make it. The long delay jeopardized her life. read more

I wish I could leave zero stars. This review is for the doctors care at Morton Hospital since the nursing and support staff are pretty good. My father was admitted from the ER to the hospital. He couldn't walk or stand. He laid in bed for days they took multiple MRIs with no symptoms. Blood results showed significant deficiencies. They "treated " the deficiencies with no results or improvement. He only received PT one day. He didn't get out of bed for 7 days. When asked if he could get PT, the doctor said the staff was too busy. When asked why he couldn't walk we where told "because he has been lying in bed for days". We asked to get him moved to another hospital they said his condition wasn't severe enough. When asked for causes or treatments they said he would get them in rehab hospital. He entered the hospital in a wheelchair and left in a stretcher. He was admitted into the ICU at another hospital since his condition was so bad Morton is the worst hospital on the south coast. Tell the EMT to take you to any other hospital. read more

Worst experience of my life. Nursing staff and everyone within the ER is extremely unprofessional, inhumane, and just drugs their patients so they sleep. I heard nurses constantly yelling and degrading patients, myself included, but once I heard them behaving this way to others, I knew it was not just me. This entire staff was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISGUSTING. besides a woman named Mary, who was kind. she is the only one who treated patients like they were human. i would never ever recommend anybody coming here for "care". read more

Took my BF there because it was closest and he was in severe pain. Ended up he had a burst appendix and sepsis. The doctors ( surgeons, infectious disease doctor and the PA) were awesome. Saved his life. 99% of the nurses were truly incredible. One bad apple, but I spoke to head nurse in the floor and made sure she wasn't part of his recovery team. Very pleased. read more
