The meat is very high quality and very worth her prices as she charges by weight, but make sure to get some of the other foods that she puts a lot of time and effort into. I personally love the taro, chop suey, and palusami. Juanita is very nice and easy to talk to. The interior is clean and welcoming as everyone there is nice. Highly recommend visiting to support!

Corned beef weren't provided that day but turkey tails were. I also ordered lamb, which was gamey. I read reviews and saw pictures of Juanita's Polynesian Delights. Several pictures included corned beef and turkey tails. I came to Juanita's last week for lunch. The price isn't based on per item but $6.75 per pound of food on your plate. For corned beef I approached it like brisket. I ordered two types of corned beef: lean and fatty. I selected two turkey tails. There was no pork sausage so I got beef sausage. Lastly for carbs I choose taro. In total I almost ordered two pounds of food. I ate inside this eatery. When I sat down I noticed a distinct smell of corned beef. I was concerned the corned beef could be gamey, but I never had bad corned beef before. I took a bite of the beef sausage. It was bland. However the more I ate the beef sausage it became pasty for me. The turkey tails weren't heavy at all as the fat was rendered well. I ate the two cuts of corned beef. The lean cut wasn't dry but was flavorful. The fatty cut was really moist. What really helped cut the richness is the fatty corned beef was the taro. The only item I didn't like was the beef sausage. After eating I was full but not bloated. Words like old-school and traditional are overused. Another word I would like to use to describe Juanita's Polynesian Delights is vintage. When you enter Juanita's the table setting reminds me of a mom-and-pop joint from the 1980s. Also what is listed on the menu that day is what is served. Unlike buffets you don't have to stuff yourself at Juanita's to make yourself full. A plate less than two pounds of food with a combination of protein and starch is filling enough. If I'm craving for corned beef and turkey tails I'm heading to Juanita's Polynesian Delights.

There are two dipping sauces, a plum based katsu sauce, and a soy sauce hybrid. The katsu sauce has a little bit of heat, but mild enough that my SO whom normally does not eat any spicy, can handle it. Which ever combo or item you pick, it's outstanding. Because the items have a lot of food, I usually skip the appetizers. So for either lunch or dinner, you have two meals out of any items. Service is great, I usually order on the phone and pick it up, but ordering in person or online is fast, staff is great and friendly. the decor is simple and the place is very clean. At the time, I was living…read moreacross the country where no one knew what a halau was and when I offered to teach a hula for our multicultural festival, people thought I'd be hula hooping. :[ I used to dance with Na Keiki O' Hawai'i (the Hawai'i club at UC Davis) and had been missing it a lot, so it was always part of my hope/plan to eventually get to find a halau. I've since moved back to the bay area and started dancing here late last year. Auntie Julie is the sweetest! Everyone at the halau is super welcoming and it's been really awesome getting to dance again--I've missed it so much! Prior to COVID-19, I'd been trying to go twice a week on Tuesday/Thursday evenings. Classes are currently via Zoom -- Polynesian beginner basics on Monday + Thursday evening and all ages on Saturday afternoons (today was the first day of socially-distanced in-person classes for Saturday classes). They've gotten the ok to do outdoor classes, but with the post-apocalyptic skies and terrible air quality right now, that unfortunately isn't the best of ideas. A friend from school told us about the school, so I brought my daughter in for a trial class. She loved it so much we signed her up right away. Not too long after, I noticed that a lot of the parents are very involved with the group. Some of them dance, others play instruments and some help with costumes and events. A couple of the moms invited me to take a class, but I remember trying Tahitian in high school and never quite picked it up. However, the whole culture at the studio is like a family. Knowing that I could bring my kids, I decided to try it out because I needed some form of exercise. Never did I imagine I would be two years in and still loving it. I went from just dancing as exercise to being able to perform in front of people, which I have always been scared to do. The best part of the studio is all the people from the owners/teachers to the families involved. There are no egos or people trying to outdo one another. Everyone is uplifting, supportive and helpful. And just like the name suggests, it is more than a studio, it is a cultural arts center. We are not just taught dances. We are taught the language, the meaning of the songs we dance and even how to make our own costumes. Plus, you are able to participate as much as you like. If you don't want to perform, you are not forced to do so. They even have special classes where they teach you how to play different instruments. There are even fitness classes like Zumba. Of course, right now due to COVID things are different, and extra precautions need to be taken, so we do not have gatherings like prior. However, I highly recommend this studio for anyone who loves the Tahitian culture or just loves to dance.
